Another boy! Congratulations!!

sadtoday21 · 19/10/2019 13:17

Congrats @Jesskir89!! That's amazing. We are having a baby boy too :)

@jollybobs89 get the flu jab asap and wait for the whopping cough until after the 20 week scan.

Ladies, I have my anomaly scan on Monday when I'll be 19+4. Really getting nervous now!

Dinosauraddict · 19/10/2019 13:31

Congratulations @Jesskir89 and @blondie87 as soon as it's all finished! Grin

Yvonne1988 · 19/10/2019 13:38

@jollybobs89 I'm getting my whooping cough on Tuesday and flu on Friday. I was told any time after 16 weeks for whooping cough and I'll be 18+4

Jesskir89 · 19/10/2019 14:02

Thanks ladies :) @sadtoday21 I was like that but you'll be fine :)

Keyboard91 · 19/10/2019 14:28

Hey, dropping in again after a busy week at work!

Congratulations on all the scans! Kinda jealous as I’m only 17+2. We’ve booked a private gender scan for next Saturday so let the countdown commence! Then it’s Nov 13th for the anomaly scan.

Bump has very much popped out, literally on the day I turned 17 weeks! Does anyone else find themselves rubbing it? I’m only feeling very slight and very sporadic movement so it’s not like that’s making me do it ... it just happens haha.

Feel like I'm proper missing a glass of wine today!! Haha really craving an ice cold glass oh well another 23 weeks to go 🤣

atomcats · 19/10/2019 15:49

I have my whooping cough booked in for the end of the week (I’ll be 18+4), but my GP have apparently run out of flu jabs 🤷‍♀️ Luckily I can get it through work, assuming it’s the same one and there isn’t a pregnancy specific one...

MunchyMunchkin · 19/10/2019 16:40

@atomcats it’s the normal

barnyb · 19/10/2019 19:50

barnyb · 19/10/2019 19:54

@jollybobs89 you should called gp right away and book on your flu jab. Also whooping around 20 weeks x

gingerbiscuitqueen · 19/10/2019 20:47

@Dinosauraddict wow your really organised the bedroom sounds absolutely gorgeous. This is our 2nd child so I am waiting to find out what the sex is as we have plenty of stuff from DD1. Are you going to find out? What date is your scan?

@MunchyMunchkin thank you for the recommendation I will look into that Smile

Eek I'm still yet to have my flu and whooping cough vaccine Blushwill definitely get it booked in this week!

Yvonne1988 · 19/10/2019 21:33

I know we've had this conversation before but is anyone looking to manage their weight? I need to eat better before it's too late but it's hard when I get tired and can't be bothered. Not slimming world but something along the same kind of lines. I like to eat milk and cheese on the same day if I want to 😂

threegreensheep · 19/10/2019 21:36

Baby finally gave me a proper wriggle tonight. 19+5. Forgot how lovely it is to feel! Really reassuring after my tummy bug last week.
Whooping cough used to be after 20 weeks but now anytime from 16 weeks. Nurses at GP aren't always up to date on guidelines!
Re slings whoever posted, absolutely get a stretchy wrap for the early days, lots of places do a free or cheap hire for 6 weeks. I have an ergo for later (plus about 4 others 🙈) and also a toodler beco for my big boy. They get a bit addictive. Going to teach a friend how to wrap her newborn tomorrow, can't wait. Love a tiny baby in a wrap 😍😍. I've done my training and it's so nice helping others with babywearing.

threegreensheep · 19/10/2019 21:40

@gingerbiscuitqueen I'm exactly the same, haven't even thought about buying anything for new baby as finding out in a week and are moving house anyway so don't even know where baby will go. They'll be in with us for first 6 months anyway! I do feel they have 2nd child neglect syndrome already! Only thing we will have to buy is adaptors for pram I'm hoping. And maybe some pink if it's a girl.
If anyone finds a good reasonable maternity coat let me know! I might invest in a 3 way one for babywearing too.

Dinosauraddict · 19/10/2019 21:57

Thanks @barnyb I'm really pleased with it. My friend is coming to paint clouds on the walls next month and then I'll put some pics up! Grin
@gingerbiscuitqueen we know that we're having a boy already! Due to a combination of some poor health, being consultant led, and baby being conceived with help from a private clinic we have quite a few scans - the next one is Wednesday.

Dinosauraddict · 19/10/2019 21:59

For everyone that already has one or more DC, what age gaps do you have. And do you have any tips for us first timers?

Yvonne1988 · 19/10/2019 22:11

@Dinosauraddict my age gap will be 9 years. No one told me how gross it was after the baby comes out. When the placenta comes out. Weird. And if you think your boobs were sore at the start just wait. Do what feels right for you, not what everyone else is doing and don't let other people's opinions ruin it for you. I was judged so much for bottle feeding. I was quite young I felt and it wasn't nice.

MissPepper8 · 19/10/2019 22:26

I've had whooping cough jab on Tuesday (I think I was 17 and 5) and I've got flu jab next Saturday. Toddlers been smacking my arm so it blooming hurts.

@Dinosauraddict Near 3 years as DS birthday is lin June and baby is due in March.

Oh god I don't know I'm still unprepared lol, Births rarely goto plan is a big one (be kind to yourself if it doesn't go the way you imagined Flowers ).

Be really forceful if you think somethings not quite right (my biggest mistake was not pushing for a scan when my waters went with DS, they told me I peed myself, I hadn't..).

Make sure you have loads of maternity pads or pants packed for after birth (I didn't and hospital ones were horrible 😂), Go comfy all the way for after birth as things can swell.

If you're going to BF, don't beat yourself up about it, get all the help you can with it, expressing and storing milk in the freezer after 37 weeks can help loads (so using 1ml syringes, partner can then help feed too during early days).

I can't think of anything else, I just have more horror memories rather than tips 😂.. Like things I didn't realise would happen. I remember my sister texting me, and me like oh yeah, forgot to tell you 😂

barnyb · 19/10/2019 22:31

@Dinosauraddict oh how lovely ! Can't wait to see this! I'm not doing a nursery until baby is here and maybe when she's about 6 months but I love getting ideas and seeing other people's nurseries :)

barnyb · 19/10/2019 22:34

@MissPepper8 tell us more about the horrors 🤣 we need the truth haha

MissPepper8 · 19/10/2019 22:44

@barnyb Haha 😂

Oh god, I remember the rest of my waters being broke and the whole time I thought I was weeing myself cause you just couldn't tell the difference.

I was induced so I had to pee on a pot.. On a chair and mid wee I had fresh eyes mw walk in (side room) and my mw and DH open the ward door (people in the corridor) to me peeing (like half naked, monitor on) and just remember thinking "Sod it" 😂

And iron tablets.. If you've ever had iron tablets you'll know what I mean but I hadn't been loo since Monday, I couldn't go in hospital I felt like I couldn't push cause things might fall out 😂, so following Monday when I was discharged I finally went at home and it was the worst experience of my life 😂.

barnyb · 19/10/2019 22:49

@MissPepper8 I just laughed out loud a couple times reading that!
Haha oh my goodness you poor thing! Thank you for the honesty lol. We have to be prepared for what may come! Ahhh 🤩😅
