@barnyb you're well equipt! I wouldn't worry about a next to me if you've got a small cot unless you want one x

barnyb · 10/10/2019 21:49

@Jesskir89 😂😂 no no I think iv got enough! I wouldn't have the room for anything else xx

MunchyMunchkin · 10/10/2019 22:18

@barnyb I’ve got a snuzpod from baby 1. Although she didn’t really sleep in it so was just a space to store stuff.
Will use again and hope this one does sleep away from me. That was the only beside crib we could have as very tall bed.

Yvonne1988 · 10/10/2019 22:31

@barnyb the basket I got was 2nd hand and didn't come with a stand. I just had it on the floor next to my bed and it worked for me.

barnyb · 10/10/2019 22:34

@MunchyMunchkin oh really that's great you saved it for this baby! Did you have baby sleep with you when they didn't want to go in there? My mum used to sleep with her babies from very small ages. But I'd be petrified to do that myself xxxx

barnyb · 10/10/2019 22:37

@Yvonne1988 oh ok I see! I only ask because I have a basket but don't have the stand yet! 🤩
I wondered if there was a health or practical reason haha XX

Yvonne1988 · 11/10/2019 07:31

Had my first baby related dream last night. 2 actually about the same issue 😂 wheni had my first I used cartons of ready made milk... This time they aren't as widely available... I have never made a bottle up with powder in my life 😂 I managed to get a prep machine for a very good price on eBay so maybe that's why it was on my mind.. weird dreams are back it seems, both dreams were about my inability to make up a bottle correctly ha

MunchyMunchkin · 11/10/2019 07:48

@barnyb after 2 nights of no sleep I gave in and looked up the safe co sleeping rules. I still didn’t get much sleep but better than none. She slept between me and the snuzpod so it was a useful safety barrier.

Should add that 3 x friends babies have slept in it since my DD refused!

Yvonne1988 · 11/10/2019 10:35

Feeling a bit lonely today. Dp has to work tonight so isn't home like usual and won't be til Wednesday. I'm off work for 3 more weeks which is great but no one to talk to. It's the holidays next week for 2 weeks for us so that will be better. Done loads of baking and cleaning this week so trying to rest and I'm just a bit bored. Literally no one to chat to. Just sit and watch the TV all day and night.

sadtoday21 · 11/10/2019 13:05

@Yvonne1988 I had my first baby-related dream last night too! Weird, right? Mine was also about feeding the baby, incidentally. Sorry to hear you are on your own today, hope you can rest at least and enjoy a good book or movie on this cloudy day!

Been following the conversation on sleeping with interest - I'm terrified about what to put the baby in! Our bed is in a loft on the third floor that is quite small and up a spiral staircase, so I really don't want to have the baby in a crib near the bed/edge of loft platform where it could possibly fall off. Also afraid of bringing baby up and down those narrow spiral stairs. But on the other hand the house is completely open on all three floors (no doors), so I thought I could put baby on the second floor and just go up and down to check on him - its still really close by. Second time mamas, does this sound impossible? Do you just get a basket at first or an actual crib? I want something where he can't move around or be trapped by any blankets. Haven't bought anything yet obviously, but its in the back of my mind!

@Jesskir89 @ELW85 @SweetChillis how are you ladies doing? Any movement yet? I'm 18+1 today, but still nothing :(.

Hope everyone else is doing well! Xxx

Yvonne1988 · 11/10/2019 13:07

@sadtoday21 it's actually beautiful day up here lol. But I have no money to go anywhere really.

barnyb · 11/10/2019 13:52

@MunchyMunchkin awwww that's lovely you did that. I have visions of when my girl is a little older that she will be in bed with me. My husband said no no surely not. But I have other plans haha 😊😊

MunchyMunchkin · 11/10/2019 14:06

@sadtoday21 can you fit a space saver cot up by your bed? That or a bedside crib is best for a small space. I wouldn’t have the baby on another floor as you could be up and down every 1-2 hrs and I would worry about myself falling down the stairs tired at 4am.

Jesskir89 · 11/10/2019 14:07

@sadtoday21 I'm OK thanks you? And I thought I did this morning but not sure now it's hard to tell if it's wind or growing etc. Everywhere says 16 to 20 weeks but a girl at work said it was after her 20 week scan for her so everyone's different x

sadtoday21 · 11/10/2019 14:20

@Jesskir89 glad to hear it! That's exciting - I can't really tell either lol! I sometimes think its the baby, but then maybe wind or muscle spasm. It might just be wishful thinking at this point. When is your 20 week scan?

@MunchyMunchkin thanks for your reply! I'm afraid of that too...but more afraid of somehow knocking the cot off the ledge. There is room for a small bedside cot, but it would be right at the edge of the platform (no railing or anything). I think I would be too nervous to put it there. Conversely, I guess I could get a pull-out armchair or something and sleep next to baby on second floor? Not sure how many times you have to feed during the night. Thanks for the advice!

barnyb · 11/10/2019 16:12

@sadtoday21 @Jesskir89 I reckon your feeling the baby! Iv been feeling mine for a few weeks now! At first I thought it was gas but it's gotten stronger and more frequent as the weeks have gone on! I'm sitting on the sofa right now with my cat on my lap and baby is moving around ! It's pretty strange and amazing 🙃🙂🤩

Jesskir89 · 11/10/2019 16:13

@sadtoday21 8th Nov so I'll be 21 weeks when I have mine how about you

Jesskir89 · 11/10/2019 16:15

@dinosauraddict how are you getting on x

ELW85 · 11/10/2019 16:27

@sadtoday21 - I had my 16 week appointment today (16+6) and I got to hear the heartbeat and the baby actually moved whilst she was using the Doppler. It’s nice to know he’s moving around even though u can’t feel it yet 😊
Keep your head up - we’ll get there! Is your 20 week scan your next appointment?

sadtoday21 · 11/10/2019 16:43

@barnyb I hope that's true, but honestly I think its just wishful thinking on my part anyway! I'm starting to resign myself to the fact that it could take awhile still. When did you first feel yours and how many weeks are you now?

Thanks @ELW85! That's so wonderful you got to hear the baby's hb today. I always record it on my phone and listen from time to time (been three times now to hear it). I heard baby moving too before, at least the midwife said the whooshing sounds were movement - its just so frustrating that we can't feel it yet! My 20 week scan is 21st October, so not long to go now. Have you found out the gender yet?

@Jesskir89 I'm having my 20 week scan at 19+4, just couldn't wait any longer between the 16 and 20 week scans! That was the earliest they would see me. Only ten days more to go now, so scanxiety is building up again!

barnyb · 11/10/2019 16:59

@sadtoday21 hello! Awww well you have to be wishful and think positive because there is every chance it is baby! When I first felt baby everyone said oh no it's too early! I was 14 weeks! and this is my first baby. I didn't have a clue what I was meant to feel! But now I 100% know what it feels like lol! I notice she's moving a lot on the evening and when iv had a busy day I finally sit down for a rest and then she says hello! I'm 20 weeks in two days time! How about you?? Do you know what your having? I have my next scan on Thursday and I can't wait 🙃🙃🙃 how are you feeling etc? Xx

maybenextmonth · 11/10/2019 17:00

We had our 20 week scan today and decided not to find out what we're having and leave it as a surprise. I guess I need to stop calling it a 'he' now. All else was good and was lovely to see all the things they check for!

With regards to bedside cots, I've seen a really small traditional cot that I think I'm going to get. They grow out of it quickly but it's not wide so will fit in nicely and still looks really cute. Not sure if it's just me but I don't like the look of those next to you ones.

I'm 19 weeks today and have felt movement for a week now. Felt it so much today while I was having the scan, think it was kicking back at the sonographer poking it!

ELW85 · 11/10/2019 17:04

@sadtoday21 - we found out we’re having a boy when we had the Harmony done 😊
My MW said the whooshing was the placenta; but to be fair there were about 3 sounds that were similar so I’m sure they’re both right!
Ah really not long for you to go! Another lady I know didn’t get her first movements until the day before her 20 week scan so I think it’s pretty normal!
Are you going to find out the sex?

MunchyMunchkin · 11/10/2019 17:17

@sadtoday21 you attach the bedside ones to your bed frame so they can’t go anywhere.

sadtoday21 · 11/10/2019 17:18

Wow @barnyb that's amazing you felt it so early with your first! Wishing you the best of luck for your 20 week scan this week, I'm sure it will be amazing to see her moving around again! Thanks for asking after me, I'm doing ok, just counting down the days until movement or my next scan, whichever happens first! We found out the gender at a scan at 16 weeks and are having a little boy!! Just hoping he's doing ok in there now.

@maybenextmonth congrats on your scan today!! That is wonderful news. So cute that baby was playing poke the sonographer!

@ELW85 that's wonderful, we are having a boy too! Is it your first? You might be right about the whooshing sound exactly, I think it is the placenta and the thunking noise is the coord. What sound is movement? Can't quite remember now!
