Just quickly popping on to update, no baby still!! Tuesday evening I got put on the list to go down to the labour ward and have my waters broken (after examination midwife said she could easily break my waters and I'm a good 3cm) and I'm still waiting, getting so frustrated now the midwives won't even give me a rough time of when I could be going 😤

Senners · 26/09/2019 14:03

Those that had mainly contractions in back, did you wait till they were sort of 5 mins or less apart AND the pain was like you couldn't talk through it or just went in when they were close together? I can still talk through the pain, they're about 10 mins ish apart

Senners · 26/09/2019 14:05

Pinkpig are you still in hospital? How long have you been in? Hope you get your waters done soon, I'm desp for mine to go, I'm sure it'll all speed up for you greatly once they do yours! Won't be long after that i hope for you

DustyDoorframes · 26/09/2019 14:09

@pinkpig381 noooo!!!!! So frustrating!!! September is such a busy month! Will they let you walk around the grounds (up and down stairs sideways...) to pass the tune and help things along? You must be climbing the walls!!!

@Senners I can talk through all my contractions, that is not a good test for me! But I think that's quite unusual. If you are getting two-three contractions in 10 mins ring in and see what they say.

BBell2 · 26/09/2019 15:13

Came for my pre-op, for the section I dont want, 2.5hrs ago, over 3 hrs since I left the house. Of a clinic full of people all with partners here I'm alone and having had a few chats I'm the furthest on - I'm last, I've had to run up the road to repay the meter. So much for my relaxing "make baby arrive early" with muchos oxytocin afternoon!

IVEgottheDECAF · 26/09/2019 15:16

Bbell that is crap Sad hope you get seen soon

yevans · 26/09/2019 16:13

Hi all, sorry for the late post!

Ruth was born at 11.30 yesterday morning after a very speedy labour. Waters went at 1am and contractions came thick and fast from then. Went in at 6am only to be sent home as I was just 2-3cm. Went in again at 8am as I was struggling to find I was 7-8cm. Within 15 mins of being in the hospital I was needing to push. Gas and air made me high as a kite and I mooed (according to DH) my way through two hours of pushing to deliver her with a 2nd degree tear. Bit of a whirlwind but definitely worth it and were discharged home last night.

Struggled with latching at first but we are slowly getting better. The midwives have been amazing at helping with positioning etc! Now to get her to sleep in her crib as opposed to on us...

Senners · 26/09/2019 18:26

Awww congratulations yevans! Glad to hear it was speedy and that you are both doing well 😊

SJP3 · 26/09/2019 19:38

Congratulations @yevans! Well done you! So glad to hear you're home and doing well.

@BBell2, @Senners and @pinkpig381 all situations sound very hard going and frustrating... really feel for you. Please some happy news for you all soon!

@Lucyj1 my DC1 was like this too and it is pretty typical for newborns. We fell into a bit of trap with him of letting him always nap on us and whilst it's pretty gorgeous, it's definitely worth encouraging naps in the Moses basket (or wherever) so you are freed up to get on with your own stuff. It's still all so new though so just do what feels right for you all. Have a google of 'nesting newborns'. It's a trick neonatal nurses use to make new babies feel settled in their sleep environments and it can really work wonders for settling infants.

Update from me - was meant to have sweep 2 today but my cervix was too posterior to get to for it so no sweep for me. I'm booked for induction tomorrow - just praying they have a bed when I call in the morning... Hoping it will be quick and trying to stay positive...

DustyDoorframes · 26/09/2019 19:59

Great news @yevans ! Hurrah for speedy labours and helpful midwives! Congratulations!

@BBell2 urgh, what a fun afternoon....

Good luck tomorrow @SJP3 !!!

Fingers crossed you've gone through to labour ward by now @pinkpig381 !

IVEgottheDECAF · 27/09/2019 07:56

Congrats yevans! Flowers

Any news overnight anyone?

Good luck SJP3!

Senners · 27/09/2019 08:30

Still contracting/back pain every 10 mins for a minute now the pain is strong enough to make me stop talking or doing anything else, been like this all yesterday and all last night. I called the birth centre at 4am wanting to come in but they wouldn't let me :( said they needed to be closer together and just advised bath and paracetamol ... Which I've been doing for days. I'm so tired, I just want to be examined or something. Any advice?

DustyDoorframes · 27/09/2019 08:43

Oh @Senners that sounds so exhausting!!!!! If you just rock up to labour ward surely they will at least examine you??? Do you have a TENS machine? Some pharmacies have them in stock, if you get sent home again.

BBell2 · 27/09/2019 08:54

Ooo Senners, if you feel like that rock up!

Despite my moan yesterday I was having surges from 11 till 2am and have had a bloody show this morning. I'm sure its going to be start stop but at least its started! OH still beggared off to work without much of a debate (he could have gone to a local station) and I called mum to warn her she might need to do the pick up and she was excited but told me she had a meal out tommorow evening - lallalala I will not let this bother me today, today is for bouncing!!!!!!

DustyDoorframes · 27/09/2019 08:56

Oooh @BBell2 promising! Glad to hear your OH has gone off to work- hopefully he can get some more of that useful labour advice for you from his colleagues Hmm Gah.

BBell2 · 27/09/2019 09:00

I typed too fast..he did just call "you are ok me going to work right? Sorry I didnt realise till I walked out I should have asked" so back out of the dog house.

IVEgottheDECAF · 27/09/2019 09:22

Senners in your position i think i might tell a little fib. Maybe "i think my waters might be trickling" they would get you in and examine you, in my experience do a sweep while they are at it .....

SJP3 · 27/09/2019 09:30

@Senners I think @IVEgottheDECAF has the right idea there... you've been going through too much for too long to not be seen, even if just for a wee bit of reassurance.

I'm booked to be induced today but no bed currently... hoping I'll get in there later today but we'll see. Mucho tears saying bye bye to DS1 this morning as he toddled off to nursery in case it's a while before I see him again. Plastering on the concealer today!

Senners · 27/09/2019 10:54

Thanks guys! Going to get myself in after my 1038382th bath

Senners · 27/09/2019 14:27

Thank you for the advice guys I've just left maternity unit I am swept and 2cm, I feel better just knowing we are on the way. Praying for a September baby still!

DustyDoorframes · 27/09/2019 14:44

At least you know where you are now @Senners !
Any news @SJP3 and @BBell2 ??

IVEgottheDECAF · 27/09/2019 15:44

Ah i knew theyd give you a sweep! Fingers crossed!

SJP3 · 27/09/2019 16:44

So glad you went in @Senners! Let's hope that sweep sorts you out.

I got a call just after lunch to say they had a bed for me! Currently hooked up to the fetal monitor but haven't been examined or had any gel/pessary action yet.

IVEgottheDECAF · 27/09/2019 16:47

Yay for the bed! sjp3

DustyDoorframes · 27/09/2019 16:58

Excellent @SJP3 ! Aren't you a couple of cms already from sweeps? If so you can probably skip the pessary/gel and go straight for breaking your waters...
