Hey all!

Looks like we filled up the first thread pretty fast! Took me a while to realise why I couldn't send a message.

This is the first thread I've ever created, so hopefully I've done it right.

I'm going to tag the most recent users that commented, so sorry for a lot of the people that I miss. Hopefully everyone will find this.

@gnat99 @Sunshine8888 Aw thanks guys. And thanks for the tea suggestion Princess! Turns out my manager thought the working late thing was a bit mad, eek, but oh well - thank goodness anyway as I'm still just lying here vacantly looking at the ceiling mostly...
I think I'm worried that I'm just not pushing through enough, that other people may be feeling even worse than me and getting to work anyway.
The early scan thing wasn't even on my radar until this thread - a week does feel an absolute lifetime in pregnancy I now realise , but we don't really have the extra funds so will hold out until 12 weeks I guess.
Can I ask though, how is that scan booked? Done for you by midwife, or? I've got my booking in app. but that's when I'm supposed to be 10+5, first one I could get :s

gnat99 · 04/09/2019 22:40

@CassandrasCastle my scan appointment was triggered by my booking in appt (at nearly 8 weeks). The midwife entered her report in the system and it pinged a message over to local maternity hospital to get a slot booked in. I got a letter 3 days later in the post.

@PrincessConsuela12 thanks for lemon and ginger tip - I’ve actually been drinking it for past few weeks and it does really help!

LokiCat · 05/09/2019 10:04

@Sunshine8888 thanks lovely.
The private scan could be reassuring, especially if you're feeling worried. However I know some say that the reassurance is short lived.
8/9 weeks is probably best, as it'll look more like a baby by then :)
I was so happy about seeing a baby and a heartbeat I completely forgot to ask about the spotting. When I spoke to the GP in the morning to get my EPU referral he said it usually is old blood being cleaned out probably from implantation.

@CassandrasCastle completely agree with you that a week feels like a life time!! I'm constantly looking at the apps waiting for a new week to see how baby has grown.
My area works on a self referral system. So I filled in a form on the hospital website and got my scan and booking in appointment letter through a few days after. I think most people do get their 12 week scan date at/after the booking in appointment though.

@gnat99 sorry to hear you had a bad day of nausea yesterday! Mine has officially started along with some headaches.
I'm usually a meat lover but I felt sick after only having one bite at dinner last night. Carbs are my best friend at the moment. Give me a plate of pasta any day!!
Have you looked on Groupon for private scans, btw? I know someone on here managed to get one for about £30 from a Groupon deal.

Hope you all have a lovely day 😊

@LokiCat ahh ok thanks I really hope that was all mine was. My clear blue digital results had gone up from 2-3 weeks to 3+ this week so I hope that’s a good sign. I haven’t had any bleeding or spotting for a week now. I am following your symptoms because we are pretty much at the same week of our journey (I’m 7 weeks today). Still no nausea here! But I am noticing the tiredness more now plus constant hunger!! Slightly concerned my expanding waistline is due to the eating than anything else 🙈Still haven’t gone off anything either! DH also said my boobs have got massive! They were 34DD before and my bras are now a bit on the snug side 🙈

PurpleViolin · 05/09/2019 12:48

8 weeks today and the nausea has ramped up!

Sunshine8888 · 05/09/2019 13:03

Just posted saying no bleeding for a week, felt a wet feeling down there and period type aches....another blood stain 😱 rusty colour again and not much. I’ve put a liner in and will keep an eye on it but honestly feel sick to my stomach. So hard to focus on my work

Ruthsoph · 05/09/2019 14:37

@Sunshine8888 - i know everyone is different buy when i had my miscarriages i had more than a rust stain so if you are thinking along those lines dont - easy said than done but stay positive xx

Harriettenightingale · 05/09/2019 16:46

I'm constantly looking at the apps waiting for a new week to see how baby has grown.

Me too! I've got about six apps. I should be 7 weeks on Saturday.

Harriettenightingale · 05/09/2019 16:47

Hope all ok, Sunshine8888 x

PurpleViolin · 05/09/2019 21:06

@Harriettenightingale do you reccomend any apps? I have one called pregnancy and its green in colour and says powered by Amila.

Would happily add more but a few I have tried have been a nightmare to set up/been annoying.

girlanonymous · 05/09/2019 21:43

Hello all! I'd like to join also! EDD according to LMP is 26th April. So 6w4d today :) Anyone recommend decent apps or have an y fave apps?xx

Sunshine8888 · 05/09/2019 21:54

Thanks ladies. I have booked a scan for Saturday, DH and I decided that I’d anything is wrong we would just rather know sooner than later. Really really hope everything is ok 🤞🏻

BristolBear · 05/09/2019 22:11

Hello ladies, I've been quiet for a week or so as I've been feeling awful. Nausea all day and exhausted like I've never felt before. I'm 9+3 now and since week 8 those symptoms have been crazy.

@CassandrasCastle I'll be 10+2 at my booking appointment next Weds, which appears to be normal for the area. The mw called to confirm it on a Sunday as they are so busy. I also get my scan booked at that point, so I'll feedback on how long a wait I have for that. I am going to try and push for it to be between 12-13 weeks.. fingers crossed.

A couple of people were asking about apps. I use Bounty and BabyCentre.

Bounty comes with some discount offers and has a visualisation of the baby's progress (one per week) with some useful articles and a new 'fact' each day.

BabyCentre has lots more articles and the integrated forum is good for a read.

I rate having both of them and do check them both daily, they're good in different ways. I'd definitely be open to trying any others of anyone has any recommendations?

Amelialolz · 05/09/2019 22:35

I highly recommend the Pregnancy + app. It has really good graphics and updates daily. Also if you pay an extra 1.99 you get the extras like a shopping to do list, contractions and kick counter, I’m loving the new articles each day. My baby is currently the size of a blueberry at 6+4 Smile

Ruthsoph · 06/09/2019 08:09

I am 7+6 did anyone at that stage getting tummy aches? I have been fine well sore boobs and feeling sick but today I had like a period ache - now feeling worried x

Harriettenightingale · 06/09/2019 08:28

Ruthsoph

I'm a week behind you and have been getting cramping all the way through. I thought my period was coming a couple of days late due to them, then it didn't ever happen. It comes and goes for me. I don't have nausea but do have sore breasts.

Passionfruit20 · 06/09/2019 08:29

I’m usually just a lurker on this thread as I’m active in others (I’m 7+1 after IVF) but saw the questions about apps so thought I’d jump in - I have Bounty and Pregnancy Plus, but my favourite so far is Ovia. Highly recommend it. (I’m also a compulsive app checker and like that it gives me new facts every day! 🤗)

Harriettenightingale · 06/09/2019 08:32

Re apps, I have the pregnancy versions of the ones I was using for conception, Ovia, Fertility Friend and Flo. Also added Bounty, Emma's Diary, Pregnancy plus and What to Expect.

Enjoying updating them all on my commute into work every day, it's a little routine I have.

I'm also looking at the Miscarriage Reassurer page every day with my exact details and dates. I find that helps my anxiety, even though I know it will be what it will be.

Passionfruit20 · 06/09/2019 08:32

@Ruthsoph I have had such bad cramps and pains at various points I rang my clinic and spoke to a nurse and they were like, it’s completely normal, your uterus is expanding and everything inside you is moving around. So unless you’re also bleeding strongly (not just spotting) or it’s continuously really bad pain without pause, it’s probably just part of the process. But obviously check with your doctor/midwife if you’re worried :)

Sunshine8888 · 06/09/2019 09:32

@Ruthsoph I also have cramps. I am going for a scan tomorrow (eek, so nervous) so will bring this up but i think (and hope) it is normal.

I am just using Ovia

gnat99 · 06/09/2019 09:58

@Ruthsoph I feel like I have had every kind of pain so far, and definitely had period-type pains at some point. I can’t remember exactly when, I’m afraid. Hopefully it’s just some kind of stretching going on! If you’re worried you could always phone your EPU for advice.

@LokiCat great that your scan was good!

@Sunshine8888 fingers crossed it’s just old blood, try not to worry.

@BristolBear, nice to see you back. I think 9-10 weeks is the peak time for the hormone increase, so I think that’s why the nausea & tiredness are so strong. I’m 9+1 today, been really nauseous all week, and absolutely shattered.

Thanks for all the app recommendations everyone. I’ve been too paranoid to download any in case someone spots it on my phone. i should just do it! I remember my nephew finding my Pelvic Floor exercise app once and asking me all about it Grin

Ruthsoph · 06/09/2019 10:25

Thanks Ladies - i have booked a private scan for tomorrow ( i was considering this anyway) just made me worry with the pain and (sorry for too much details) but i felt a wet feeling in my knickers on the train (longest journey ever) buyt when i checked it was just normal discharge - its quite an anxious time isnt it and the slighest thing you literally freeze with fear - this shoudl be a happy time but i feel like i am just waiting for something bad - hopefully after tomorrow i will be more relaxedxx

Sunshine8888 · 06/09/2019 10:45

@Ruthsoph I have that same wet feeling, the discharge is really something else 😬 I’ve got a liner in now as I’m on blood watch. Haven’t had any more since that stain yday 🤞🏻 Good luck for your scan tomorrow, let’s hope we both get positive news. Mine will be internal as I’m less than 8 weeks so I have to go with an empty bladder. That in itself is a challenge atm 🙈

Sunshine8888 · 06/09/2019 10:46

@gnat99 I’ve hidden my app in a second page of a folder on my phone 😂 you’d have to find the folder and swipe to find it

PrincessConsuela12 · 06/09/2019 12:42

@CassandrasCastle & @gnat99 You're Welcome 😊

I've got my booking in appointment - 30th September so feels so so long away. It's so hard having this huge secret, feeling sick and exhausted and not being able to tell anyone!
