My last reading was ok just waiting on another check at 10.30 and I'm hoping I can go home,
My OH keeps saying why can't they induce you today seems silly to go home and come back Sunday. I'm worried I'll come back Sunday and my BP will
Be high again and I'll have to go through this again Smile

Megan2018 · 13/09/2019 10:50

2 lots of 2hrs sleep, completely shattered.
Have to phone tomorrow but can’t see the point, will just get fobbed off again. I don’t believe a word they say now. Yesterday the consultant on duty claimed to have no idea why I was booked in to be induced!! Yet in the same breath was telling me I could wait until 41 weeks as I’ve morphed from high risk to low risk. Beyond incompetent.

Can’t stop bloody crying and have had 2 panic attacks already today (not had this issue for over a decade). Absolutely terrified that any twinge is the start of something as really can’t cope with the idea of contractions at home -that was always why I wanted the section in the first place. I only agreed to induction as they promised it would be a short stab at it (max 12hrs) then section if no progress.

Also having to field billions of messages from people assuming we are in hospital, because we bloody should be.

IVEgottheDECAF · 13/09/2019 10:56

Oh megan Sad its really really unfair they have done this, can you request a sweep? It may atleast get things started?

Horehound · 13/09/2019 12:56

@megan2018 I know this is so frustrating but plleeaasseee try and conserve your energy. Really feel for you :(

DustyDoorframes · 13/09/2019 13:19

@Dipsy77 fingers crossed you are on your way home now and can chill out tomorrow! If your BP is back up on Sunday they will just get on with the induction- that's the cure for hypertension/preeclampsia!

Ouf @Megan2018 the texts must be the final straw!

iano · 13/09/2019 13:42

I'm sorry to hear this @Megan2018
That's not ok. Could you just turn up and really make a fuss? I found the more fuss I make the more likely I get what i want.

Dipsy77 · 13/09/2019 15:44

I'm finally home, was asked if that is what I wanted which I did so they gave me a stretch and sweep to see if it helped OMG was agony.
The consultant did it and said it was really far back and high up then tugged and pulled it owwww. She said I'm 2cm so looking good. I felt a sudden gush so midwife got me to check and there was loads of bright red blood she said it was just a heavy bloody show it's still happening but they were fine with it and are hopeful that this will work before Sunday. They also showed me where ill be induced and I got them to confirm I'm definitely in a list for Sunday which I am ( I've been stressing that I would be sitting waiting for a call while not on any list !!) I've Not told anyone about this as I'm fed up of texts and messages. I said to my mum the other day when I go into hospital I'm not telling anyone until she is born and she said I totally agree but make sure you keep ringing and texting me because I don't want to keep ringing you !, so I haven't told her about yesterday/today or she would be constantly ringing me to see what is happening !, I know she is excited but it is driving me mad 😕

IVEgottheDECAF · 13/09/2019 16:14

Dipsy Shock i do not like the sound of that sweep! There was no tugging during mine!

DustyDoorframes · 13/09/2019 16:55

In my experience consultant sweeps are much fiercer than midwife ones- but I've never had gushing blood!!!! (I think I've had 8 sweeps, none this pregnancy yet though...). Fingers crossed it dies the trick @Dipsy77 !

Puglover88 · 13/09/2019 17:06

@Dipsy77 that does not sound like a pleasant sweep! Hoping it does the trick though!

happydays00 · 13/09/2019 18:30

@Dipsy77 that sounds absolutely brutal!!! I've had 4 sweeps and none came close to that, although do second that the consultant ones were more, erm, vigorous than the midwife ones..

@Megan2018 how are you holding up? I hope you've managed to get a bit of rest today (easier said than done I know)

Dipsy77 · 13/09/2019 18:57

I know I was expecting like a smear feeling but she warned me beforehand and said squeeze your OH hand really hard it's going to hurt it felt like she was ripping my insides out she said she could feel the head and waters though, flow ha stopped just pink blood now so going to bounce on ball later and get an early night after 1 hour sleep I'm knackered x

BBell2 · 13/09/2019 19:01

@Dipsy77 ooo crikey I hope that works for you, sounds painful! I declined a sweep last week and wish I'd had it, not that j have anyone I really want lined up to take DD till next Thursday when I have the next chance.

Finished work today 38+1, sure i could hack another day or so physically but I was a bit too close to losing my shit and being inappropriate :D

iano · 13/09/2019 19:06

I'm sorry @Dipsy77! That sounds awful.

Hsunshine · 13/09/2019 21:20

@Megan2018 I had an induction and they gave me no pain relief until I went to labour ward at 9cm when all I had time for was gas and air. Frankly I would’ve been better having my contractions at home because at least I could’ve had pain killers and baths

Megan2018 · 13/09/2019 22:37

I been told I can have an epidural as soon as waters are artificially broken and gas and air for the balloon catheter insertion if needed. Although gas and air does f all for me-had it many times before for dislocations. In fact the consultant practically insisted an epidural will be required, although it is my choice. I definitely want one though so I’m ready for the inevitable section that will follow.

I loathe baths so water has no appeal, a water birth is my idea of hell, and I have packed my own paracetamol in case the bastards ration it.

But its all academic as bugger all is going to happen, I know they are still full as my step sister works on the next ward (she is a nurse that works in terminations) so I can’t even be arsed to call tomorrow. I’ll only lose my temper again and have another crap day, they’ve ruined it for me now.

Megan2018 · 13/09/2019 22:38

Oh and nobody is coming anywhere near me for a sweep!! Absolutely no sodding way.

Moraxella · 13/09/2019 22:53

Panicking my sweep was too gentle and that’s why it hasn’t worked 🤔

itakephotos · 13/09/2019 23:05

Hello beautiful baby max!! You have a stunning head of hair on you just like my little William! Our September group babies really are the most beautiful.

@Megan2018 try not to let this spoil things for you. You've had such a lovely pregnancy where you've felt so well it'd be awful if this ruined the experience and tainted your memories. My birth did not go to plan at all, but I wouldn't change a moment of it as I got my perfect little boy at the end. Try to get some rest.

Horehound · 13/09/2019 23:52

Welcome to the world Max! Congratulations!!

Horehound · 13/09/2019 23:58

I am at the end of my tether breastfeeding. I thought we were doing well then today He has fussed on and off breast all sodding day. But then I also think, I'm not doing that well because I can't feed with anyone other than my husband or mum in the room. I have to have my whole breast out and lay down or take ages finding a good latch sitting up that it's just not possible for me to feed in the company of others. And then that brings me to going out..I can't feed out the house if I can barely do it in the house. Am I supposed to lay on the floor in a cafe So I can feed him laying down? No.
No fucking website has any realistic tips. Its all "lay down and feed sideways" or " use lots of pillows" blah blah that's no fucking use to me I want to actually be able to live!

Fuckkkkk so annoyed.
Is expressing going to be a faff? If I have a bottle and we go out it will only keep for 6 hours..So then what am o supposed to do?

BridgetJonesDaiquiri · 14/09/2019 00:23

@Horehound I feel you. I have a breastfeeding cover, but even then it's a total faff getting baby under cover, fiddling with straps, getting baby latched, worrying about her suffocating under the fabric. Wish I was one of those women who can just whip out her boob and feed, no qualms, but I'm not, I need some kind of coverage going on. I do manage to feed her out and about but it's not the easiest.

Do you have a little cool bag you could use with some ice packs to keep the milk for longer? Push comes to shove you could use one of those 200ml formula pre-made bottles when out and about for longer days - as long as breastfeeding is well established, it shouldn't affect your supply and as you say, you bloody need to get out and live!

BridgetJonesDaiquiri · 14/09/2019 00:25

Babies coming thick and fast now! Congratulations @itakephotos, @sugarsprinklesrainbowdrops and @RonaldWeasley 😊
