Megan i really hope you have a lovely positive birth experience after all this messing you about

happydays00 · 12/09/2019 18:17

Oh @Megan2018 this is awful for you! What an absolute nightmare. Would you have anymore joy at one of the other hospitals? Is it worth a call to the MW? Or if you're consultant led perhaps not.. sorry to hear about this. Try and stay strong.

@BridgetJonesDaiquiri bloody hell!!! How is your DD now? How are you? I honestly cannot imagine anything worse. My DD came home with a stinking cold last night and now the baby has it and I thought that was bad enough.

@sugarsprinklesrainbowdrops so sorry to hear your little one is in the SCBU. It really is the most awful feeling coming home without them. And the to-ing and fro-ing to the hospital post c section is really not ideal. Don't forget to keep on top of your pain killers, hope you get your baby home ASAP. Very hard for your DD too but as you say it will soon be forgotten. Sending you a hug as it really is a bloody awful time for you. I still feel a bit weepy about seeing my DS all wired up in the NICU.

Horehound · 12/09/2019 19:16

@Megan2018 oh I see. If you do go into labour and start contractions you will be able to cope! I would suggest getting a tens machine, I got one from boots and it really helped me. Also baths. But hopefully it won't come to that.

RonaldWeasley · 12/09/2019 19:40

Just catching up on everything, congratulations to all those with new babies and in so sorry to hear those struggling. @Megan2018 I can't imagine how frustrating this is for you, you'll get through it though, you're clearly very strong with everything that's already been thrown at you during your pregnancy.

I posted this on fb but bit of an update from me: My little tiddler Eddie Alexander was born yesterday at 9.21am weighing 5lb 7 at 38 weeks exactly! My waters broke in spectacular fashion at 8pm the night before so we were given 24 hours to go into labour naturally or they'd induce. Luckily within half an hour contractions started and I managed to labour at home in the bath using hypnobirthing techniques until 6.30am. Contractions were extremely close together and strong right from the off, I was 4cm when we got to the MLU at 7am and out he came at 9.21 in the pool after 6 minutes of active pushing!

Feeling a little shell shocked as we weren't expecting him just yet and then it all happened so quickly! He is just perfect though and I am absolutely in awe of what us women's bodies can do. Good luck to those of you still waiting to have your bubbas, I was incredibly lucky to have an uncomplicated experience but whatever happens you will bring your babies into the world like warriors xx

RonaldWeasley · 12/09/2019 19:47

P.s. commiserate with those having trouble with the bedside cribs. Eddie was having NONE of it last night, only first night though so we'll see what happens.

Tefiti2 · 12/09/2019 20:06

Not sure if it’s been posted already but we have a Post-Natal thread going - good for chatting on in the early hours! www.mumsnet.com/Talk/postnatal_clubs/3687383-August-September-2019-Babies-Due-in-Sept-19

BBell2 · 12/09/2019 20:13

@sugarsprinklesrainbowdrops I cant think how hard that must be to be home without a baby and have to rearrange all the care for your first who wants to be with their baby. I hope your section recovery is going well?

I had a final day I the office, should be I tommorow but a spillage on the motorway meant today's 1hr journey took close to 2. If I hadnt wanted to have lunch with my friend colleagues and want having a little leaving thing I wouldn't have made it! Will work tommorrow but will be bouncing on that ball!!!!

itakephotos · 12/09/2019 20:17

@sugarsprinklesrainbowdrops I hope you all get to go home soon thinking of you.

@Megan2018 also thinking of you! How stressful for you.

@RonaldWeasley congratulations!!

Still no baby here 40+3. Booked for scan on Monday as growth has remained the same since 2 weeks ago. Hope something happens over the weekend! Also can't have a sweep until Monday. This is all new to me as didn't have this first time round. Are sweeps as horrendous as some people say?!

DustyDoorframes · 12/09/2019 22:09

@RonaldWeasley !!!! Congratulations!!! I'm not surprised you are somewhat shocked, I was counting on you to be still standing with me at the end of the month, tee hee. Sounds like a brilliant birth, v glad you are settling in at home now. Welcome Eddie!

My last proper work day today too @BBell2 - going in next Thursday for a nice lunch and tying up any forgotten loose ends (assuming I don't do a @ronald hah!) but my autoreply is on and I feel very odd about it all.

@Megan2018 If you start contracting surely they will let you go in, as your blood sugars need monitoring throughout?!? Are the other nearest hospitals much further? Argh.

I have so many leg and bottom muscle cramps, my bump is so big and low and achey I can barely walk. I'm ready for this baby (except the house isn't, and my childcare doesn't arrive til Tuesday...). Growth scan tomorrow at the BP clinic, so we shall see where we are. And GD consultant on Tuesday (spoke to the nurse today and it's looking like I'm going on insulin then, ho hum).

DustyDoorframes · 12/09/2019 22:11

Forgot to say! @itakephotos I don't find sweeps too bad (I've had lots...) but the fiercer they are the more effective they are!

Stroan · 12/09/2019 22:15

@DustyDoorframes insulin isn't so bad really. No side effects and you really can't feel the needle. It's just a little boost for your body to help stabilise things.

Megan2018 · 12/09/2019 22:19

@DustyDoorframes
You’d think, but no capacity apparently, so you can only go in if labour established as there is a queue for labour ward.
Hospital I’m booked in at is 20 miles, the next are 35 and 50 but they've already taken all the low risk people from mine so now they are full. There’s basically a 2-3 day backlog.

DustyDoorframes · 12/09/2019 22:26

@Megan2018 that's grim! The September effect I guess. I'm not sure I dare try to find out how my hospital is doing...

@Stroan thank you! I'm not against insulin, I'd much rather have it that dodgy blood sugars! But I really can't be bothered learning anything else this pregnancy. Im sure it's all very straightforward! I'll read up over the weekend. And I'm hoping it might make the meal planning a bit easier with the carbs v ketones dance though, fingers crossed...

Dipsy77 · 12/09/2019 22:34

Baby was having repeated hiccups earlier and then movements changed. I rang triage at 5 and they told me to come in movements fine but my blood pressure is high and they are giving me meds for it and I have to stay in overnight! My bag is packed for labour but not for this and I've had to send other half home for a few bits and he can't find what I need and keeps ringing me I can see my drawers and bedroom been a mess as he is panicking and I'm totally stressing now !

Stroan · 12/09/2019 22:51

@DustyDoorframes is it overnight or mealtime insulin? Both very straightforward. But yeah, it's just yet another thing isn't it?

Puglover88 · 13/09/2019 02:21

@RonaldWeasley congratulations!! I said it on FB but I’ll repeat it here as well! Hope you’re both doing well. Loving the name too! 😊 xx

@Megan2018 it’s really crap that you’ve found yourself in this situation when you’ve been mentally preparing yourself for a DD induction! I know it’s much easier said then done but try to relax and keep calm, maybe practise some hypnobirth breathing if you’ve been doing that. I’m doing a lot of that at the moment! 😂

@DustyDoorframes yay for your last day of work! Hope the scan goes well tomorrow. I’m totally with you on the big, low and achey bump - I’m sooo ready for baby now!

@Dipsy77 that’s stressful when you’re not prepared for it! Hope everything is all ok and they’ll release you soon - do you have long to go?

Another sleepless night for me! 😩

Megan2018 · 13/09/2019 02:52

@Puglover88 I loathe the hypnobirthing sorry, I think it is total bollocks. Tried several times with it but I hate everything about it!
I’m just really, really concerned about the safety of the baby so relaxing is just not possible. I really want a section now, I bitterly regret not pushing for this and falling for all the vaginal is best bullshit Angry

Puglover88 · 13/09/2019 03:02

Ah ok, yes it’s not for everyone! I just do the breathing part - I do find all the positive affirmations a bit too hippy for me!

I’m so sorry it’s turned into such a stressful experience for you at this stage. Will you be going in for monitoring every day?

The constant worry about baby is horrible isn’t it - hence why I’m awake most nights so I can keep track of baby’s movements - I’m just napping for about an hour at a time which is exhausting! We’ll have our babies soon though! 😊 xxx

Dipsy77 · 13/09/2019 06:40

@Puglover88 I'm due to come in for induction Sunday. I just want to get home and finish everything off I'm so stressed I've slept for about an hour x

Littlehouseinthebigcity · 13/09/2019 08:04

I have the midwife today. Currently booked for a section on 23/9 but if my growth is still down they may push it forward. Don't even know what I'm hoping for really. Ready for this baby to come out now but also want it to be as uncomplicated as possible!

Horehound · 13/09/2019 09:06

@Megan2018 c sections are big ops though. If you can try vaginally, i definitely would. It's likely your recovery time would be much less than a section. I know it's frustrating that things haven't gone to plan.
I did listen to 2 chapters of hypnobirthing and didn't get very much from it but when the gas and air ran out I did kind of use my inner calm to keep me going through the contractions. Its scary how well your body can cope!

Puglover88 · 13/09/2019 09:31

@Dipsy77 is it looking like you can go home today? Hopefully you’ve had some rest.

I’m in again for reduced movements for about the millionth time this pregnancy 😩 they’re now going to have me in every other day for monitoring plus another growth scan on Tuesday so I’m happy they’ve put a plan in place but I’ve never been this tired in my life! This baby cannot come soon enough!

DustyDoorframes · 13/09/2019 09:34

Good luck @Littlehouseinthebigcity !
@Megan2018 what's your next step? Ringing tomorrow? So hard being left in limbo!
@Stroan I'm not sure, I won't find out til Tuesday...

DustyDoorframes · 13/09/2019 09:42

@Puglover88 I can't imagine how anxious you must be, I'm so glad they are taking you seriously.
And sorry @Dipsy77 I missed your update- argh!!! Are you just in-til-baby now? V glad they caught your BP!

happydays00 · 13/09/2019 09:53

How are you doing this morning @Megan2018 ? Did you manage to get any sleep? I know nothing anyone can say can make you feel any better at the moment but I was induced / natural delivery with my DD and c section with my DS. Whilst the run up to the induction was horrendous (I had to wait 5 days on the ward to have my waters broken) the recovery was a walk in the park compared to my c section.

Try and hang in there for a few more days! I know you're incredibly worried about the safety of your baby and mentally it must be beyond hard when you had a date set but you are so, so close to the end Thanks
