@megan2018

Hoo hoo big day for you! Don't worry about a thing, try and rest and then enjoy your lovely baby when she arrives. Will be thinking about you today :)

kyles101 · 12/09/2019 07:48

@Horehound I did wonder about the hot water bottle trick... it's next on my list. Although we did have a good night last night with the dummy a couple of times. He spits it out in disgust after a while but it gets us to sleepy time!! Needs must!

Good luck @Megan2018 I really hope there's a bed for you 🤞

Megan2018 · 12/09/2019 08:15

No beds this morning so going nowhere!! Sad

Fortheloveofscience · 12/09/2019 08:17

Urgh Megan that must be frustrating after the build-up. Happy due date though!

When do you have to call back?

Megan2018 · 12/09/2019 08:21

@Fortheloveofscience
Very. Now have to find somewhere to go as cleaner here soon. Was ok fist thing now cried eyes out.
Call again at 12 but it didn’t sound promising as they are completely full.

Fortheloveofscience · 12/09/2019 08:27

I’m not surprised you’re emotional, it’s a helluva thing to keep you hanging on for. If they’re completely full, what happens if you go into spontaneous labour today?!

Megan2018 · 12/09/2019 08:31

@Fortheloveofscience
Get shipped off somewhere else I guess! There are loads of hospitals within 1hr driving distance of here (I am booked at Leicester Royal but there is the General, Peterborough and 2 in Nottingham), and imagine they rely on the fact that spontaneous labour could take a day or more to get going.
I’m most frustrated that its a day of paternity leave wasted.

DustyDoorframes · 12/09/2019 08:31

Oh no @Megan2018 how frustrating!!! Fingers crossed for 12, you never know. (Although not knowing is half the problem, I guess!)

DustyDoorframes · 12/09/2019 08:33

I would imagine they are too full to induce before they are too full to accept labouring women? Surely? But you do hear of people being sent elsewhere!

Megan2018 · 12/09/2019 08:38

@DustyDoorframes yes induction bay has very limited beds I think because it has a high staff ratio. I suspect antenatal has room for early labour people and they have an attached birthing unit so I think in emergencies they put high risk people in there as they are part of same building and then just bump them over as needed.

Puglover88 · 12/09/2019 09:30

@Megan2018 that’s frustrating, fingers crossed for better news at 12. Maybe do some baby evicting techniques to encourage labour whilst you wait?!

IVEgottheDECAF · 12/09/2019 09:43

Gosh i can only imagine how pissed off i would be a) having to wait and b) being so out of the loop knowing when / where it will happen Sad

sugarsprinklesrainbowdrops · 12/09/2019 12:10

Hope everyone's doing well! Sorry we've not checked in since Monday- baby ended up becoming unwell and is on SCBU. Been told he's likely to be in for several weeks at least but I've been discharged now so it's been very strange going home without him. Likely going to have to ship DD off to grandparents who live a few hours away as after the c section, I can't drive so we both have to go to the hospital together for visits so feeling very guilty but hopefully in a few weeks/months, this will all be a distant memory!

@Megan2018 good luck today- I hope you aren't kept waiting too long or at least get a plan of what's happening soon.

IVEgottheDECAF · 12/09/2019 12:17

sugarsprinkles so sorry to hear your little one is unwell Flowers it must be very difficult going home with no baby but he is in the best place! Hopefully dd will enjoy the trip to grandparents. How old is she?

IVEgottheDECAF · 12/09/2019 12:18

Any news @Megan2018

DustyDoorframes · 12/09/2019 12:18

Oh no @sugarsprinklesrainbowdrops that's hard to deal with! Going home alone must feel very odd. And the logistics must be a real headache!

@Megan2018 fingers crossed they have room for you now!

sugarsprinklesrainbowdrops · 12/09/2019 12:40

Thanks! @IVEgottheDECAF she was 2 in June. She's very confused and keeps asking where the baby is & wanting to rewatch the videos we took of her meeting him on Monday before he got unwell which is very sweet. I think she'll be very happy when we're all back home together eventually! How's your new addition settling in with all the others? Have you picked a name?

Megan2018 · 12/09/2019 12:42

No beds until the 14th at the earliest earliest. Absolutely livid, consultant has gone from saying I must be induced at EDD to saying it doesn’t matter if I go to 41 weeks. I’m going to try demanding a section, going to MAU later and not leaving

Horehound · 12/09/2019 13:33

Wow What a mindfuck @Megan2018 what a shame.

@sugarsprinklesrainbowdrops oh what a shame, your poor baby. I can't imagine what it's like to have left without him :( hopefully he makes a speedy recovery.

IVEgottheDECAF · 12/09/2019 13:44

megan that is terrible, do you have consultant saying due date in writing?

BridgetJonesDaiquiri · 12/09/2019 15:50

What an absolute pain in the arse @Megan2018. Hopefully a bed frees up soon. Not ideal when you've mentally prepared for today to be the day. Really feel for you!

Today is DH's first day back in the office and baby and my first day at home alone, and now our DD has just been sent home from nursery with a vomiting bug that's been doing the rounds but I thought we'd managed to avoid. It never rains does it 🤮! Really hope the breastfeeding helps baby stay clear of it, even if I catch it. And we've got two lots of house viewings booked for tomorrow...

kyles101 · 12/09/2019 15:50

@sugarsprinklesrainbowdrops that must be so hard for you. As you say, will be a distant memory soon enough but it will still be hard in the meantime.

@Megan2018 it's amazing how medical advice can change on a sixpence when it suits. I feel for you, you'll have gotten all psyched up, there's no wonder you had a few tears.

Megan2018 · 12/09/2019 17:07

Been to MAU- BP, urine ok thankfully. Have had a cracking headache all day (stress I guess) but was really worried about PE as had flashes in my eyes etc.
Monitoring looked normal but they've said I can go in daily if I want to until induced. As its an hour away though I’ll probably leave it tomorrow unless have reduced movements as its a horrible drive. If the induction gets delayed further though I’ll have to keep going back.
Really fed up, have to go food shopping now as nothing in for me to eat as shouldn’t be there. Got all the animal care to try and re-arrange too.
Really, really don’t want to go in to labour at home, the thought scares me to death. I don’t want to endure hours and hours of contractions at home before I can go in for drugs but knowing my luck that’s what will happen now. I wish I’d insisted on a section before instead of induction, its all turning in to a nightmare Sad

Horehound · 12/09/2019 17:26

Megan, just go to the ward of you do feel contractions at home

Megan2018 · 12/09/2019 17:36

@Horehound they aren’t admitting anyone at the hospital I am booked at, they are only taking limited people in established labour and a lot of people are being sent out of area if low risk. If you turn up too early you get sent away
