Final scan all done! Weighing in at 6lb10 already and 2 weeks to go.

Everything else is good, just been told to keep an eye on the kicks as it does have a tendency to be quite quiet!

Quirkyquichie · 16/01/2020 18:20

Feeling you with the low headbutts, started to get them more often now. A lady at a group i volunteer at gave me a hug as she was leaving and i suddenly got cramp in my toes where they all just turned inwards, i let out this big arghhhh and leaned over to stretch them out, next thing everyone's panic stations thinking im in labour. Felt like a right tool.

bessie84 · 17/01/2020 09:15

my Feb baby is here :-) born Monday 13th Jan by C-section at 38 weeks. all growth scans said he'd be massive, like 9+ pounds - but hes a lovely 7lb 4oz - we called him Jacob - spent a couple days in NICU for his breathing (apparently fluid from been born via C-section) but today we are home. were so in love x

lovesT · 17/01/2020 10:06

@bessie84 that's so exciting, congratulations! 😊💐🥰 I hope you're feeling well?

lovesT · 17/01/2020 11:26

I had my midwife appt today and am 36 weeks today. She was feeling the head position and she had to try and feel a few times because it's started to drop down and she wanted to be sure. Yay! It has felt different for a little while and more uncomfortable so I thought this might be the case. It's not engaged yet but starting to be, so hopefully next appt in 2 weeks time she'll be further down 😊

I was also given a kit for colostrum collecting which I'm weirdly excited to try. Anyone else doing this? Apparently it can help with breastfeeding and can be given to baby when she's here. 🥰

LolaLollypop · 17/01/2020 12:14

Congratulations @bessie84 - how exciting!! the first baby to be born!

@lovesT no I wasn't given a colostrum kit. Why have they suggested you try and get it out before baby arrives?

Anyone else suffering with tailbone pain? My coccyx is so sore if I sit down on it for too long!

lovesT · 17/01/2020 12:45

@LolaLollypop it's just something she asked me if I wanted to do, it can be frozen and stored for after baby is born and they can have it as needed if they don't do well with breastfeeding straight away. It's apparently got everything they need so it's just kind of a back up for that first feed and also hand expressing before apparently will help with milk and breastfeeding. Google will have more info I'm sure 😊 but I've heard of people doing it.

LolaLollypop · 17/01/2020 12:56

@lovesT yes colostrum is amazing for the baby! I wasn't aware you could try and get it before the baby arrives though. I guess any stimulation is good to get everything going! I BF my daughter so I'm hoping my boobs remember what to do lol

lovesT · 17/01/2020 13:05

Yeah I didn't know either so was excited when my midwife told me about it, she seemed to think it was really cool too 😄 I really want to exclusively breastfeed so I'm up for trying anything to make that easier to do 😊 apparently it can take a few tries before you see any colostrum and it will only be a tiny bit but definitely worth a try. It can be done after 36 weeks 😊 because apparently it can also bring on labour ... 🤷‍♀️ so shouldn't do it earlier than that.

45andfine · 17/01/2020 13:14

Congratulations Bessie! How are you recovering? Any useful tips?!

45andfine · 17/01/2020 13:20

Bessie did you end up being sterilised too??? They've left me to think this over and whilst I'm tempted, I don't want to be in surgery a moment longer than I need to. Did they do delayed cord cutting?? Sorry, so many questions..

Ginny1234 · 17/01/2020 13:21

Congratulations @bessie84! Lovely news he's here safe and your home to enjoy it 😊

@lovesT I'm planning to start this tomorrow as going to be induced and was worried my milk wouldn't be ready so the midwife suggested it. Didn't get a kit though - what's in it? She just said to express in to a sterile bowl and collect with sterile syringes and freeze in those (I nicked a pack of syringes from work). I'm 37 weeks old Monday and supposed to be induced some time during week 38 so hoping that the nipple stimulation will actually bring on natural labour 🤞🏻

lovesT · 17/01/2020 15:34

@Ginny1234 sorry saying a kit probably sounds more than it is but that's what the midwife called it. She has given me some information on how to do it and 6 syringes which I'll freeze. I'm going to start giving it a go this week. Yeah why not, I'm hoping it will prevent me from being overdue 😀

doublebarrellednurse · 17/01/2020 15:56

What wonderful news @bessie84 congratulations 💙

hazandduck · 18/01/2020 01:35

Congratulations @bessie84 how lovely! Hope you are recovering well.

Ooh who will be next!

I was in hospital Tuesday for reduced movements baby typically started moving lots as soon as I was on the monitor! But they then thought I was in labour as monitor showed strong contractions (cervix was closed and I knew it wasn’t the real thing so wasn’t worried!) but they wanted to be sure as I wasn’t quite 37 weeks then.

I have been having lots of cramps, dodgy tum and also debilitating migraines 😩 very hard with a 2 year old! Leaning on all the support I can get for this home stretch.

We buried my lovely grandma on Monday so I am sure the reduced movement was down to me being stressed and upset.

I wake up every day in a wet patch from my leaky boobs! Maybe I should start collecting. I hand expressed a lot with dd so can do it I’ve just not had time to sterilise bits yet! I forgot how much you have to do to make things safe for a newborn.

Hope everyone is doing ok! So close now ladies! X

Quirkyquichie · 18/01/2020 16:49

Congratulations Bessie, that's a nice weight and a lovely name

45andfine · 18/01/2020 17:36

@hazanduck you've got alot going on at the mo. How are you holding up? I'm crying at everything and generally being overly emotional. So sorry to hear about your Nan xx

hazandduck · 18/01/2020 21:09

Thanks @45andfine I’m ok thank you! Sooo ready for baby to come now, I hate this part where you’re constantly wondering “ooh is this it??” Wish we could know when it’s all going to start!! It has been a horrible month or so, still just shocked she won’t meet the baby as she passed quite suddenly. But it is one of those things sadly. How are you doing?? When’s DDay for you? xx

doublebarrellednurse · 18/01/2020 21:38

I spent the afternoon on pregnancy assessment with cramps and back ache! One internal and monitoring later and I'm back home 3 hours since I arrived.

All is well apparently and I'm just overdoing it. It's been mental at work and I've not had a spare second.

doublebarrellednurse · 18/01/2020 21:39

@hazandduck so sorry for your loss x

hazandduck · 18/01/2020 21:58

Glad all is ok @doublebarrellednurse. Thank you x when are you finishing work? Can you finish early at all? Now is the time to be a bit selfish x

hazandduck · 18/01/2020 21:59

Ps by selfish I mean prioritise yourself iyswim you and baby are most important right now!

LolaLollypop · 18/01/2020 22:01

36 weeks tomorrow and keep feeling really uncomfortable in my tummy, especially when I eat. It feels like I've got tummy cramps and need the loo! I guess there's not much room in there these days and baby is probably wriggling around on my gut!
