@Dweebette @doublebarrellednurse thank you I have had a look and might wait just a bit to see if it goes on sale in the new year 😊

Does anyone else feel like they need to drink a lot more at the moment? All my urine samples have been fine for GD (apart from one a couple of appointments ago which had some glucose but retested and was fine). I just feel like I'm drinking all the time and as a result need to go to the loo a lot more! Water is my favourite thing at the moment haha

Ginny1234 · 30/12/2019 20:26

@LolaLollypop I got bloods taken today to see if there's a problem. The itching isn't really my tummy, it's everywhere else but especially in the soles of my feet which is apparently a classic symptom. I have been itching for a few weeks at bedtime but last night it felt different and more constant so best just to check I think. I do feel like a bit of a complainer though because it is just itching after all. Results should be back tomorrow so should fine out soon.

@lovesT yes, can't drink enough here either. I'm really thirsty when I wake up for a wee at night especially so no chance of a long stretch of sleep when I'm constantly filling up my bladder again!

Anyone got any positive late stage pregnancy symptoms they've noticed? I feel like I need encouraging to accentuate the positive 😆

lovesT · 30/12/2019 20:49

@Ginny1234 I hope you get your results quickly tomorrow, don't feel like you're complaining. It's good to make sure you and baby are being looked after 😊

Yes I'm the same. I always take a drink to bed with me but I I'm filling it up when I get up to wee at night too, I usually just have a drink in the morning! Oh well I guess our bodies need more water at the moment?

3rd trimester hasn't been my favourite, but it's not that bad so I shouldn't complain really! The palpitations and discomfort are the worst thing at the moment. As for positive.. the baby movements are so lovely 🥰 I know that's not a symptom but makes it feel worth it and we're not too far now!

Anyone else can't wait to be able to lie on their tummy again? I've been missing that lately 😄

LolaLollypop · 30/12/2019 20:52

Ermmmm... thinks long and hard

The only positive I can think of is that we're nearly at the end!!! Grin and soon we'll have our little babies in our arms. Everytime I see a newborn on TV i get really excited, it is such an amazing feeling when you meet that little person who's been growing inside you!

As for these last 6 weeks... I just want to get them over with. Then look forward to the 4th trimester of leaky boobs and sleepless nights! Confused

LolaLollypop · 30/12/2019 20:53

Oh yes as @lovesT said.. my little one has been super active lately which is nice and reassuring. I really can't wait to meet him/her!

Ginny1234 · 30/12/2019 21:00

Yes, I'm also enjoying the movements, which are so strong now it's encouraging that he must be fit and healthy :)

...also just realised I shaved my legs about a month ago and they've not grown back yet - usually would have by the following week! Also my hair feels nice and doesn't need washing as often. Strong nails. I think that's it though.

Cupcakes1234 · 31/12/2019 11:29

33 +3 today and just got back from the midwife. She's moved down and is well into my pelvis now and no longer back to back! I can't believe how fast it's gone!

hazandduck · 31/12/2019 20:28

Positive positive hmm...weirdly I love being able to feel little feet or knobbly knees jutting out, I also am enjoying the nesting feeling I am usually not very organised but I feel so focused and driven I just want to wash all the clothes and today I washed the car seat cushions (it was originally our Dd’s she has moved to a bigger seat) and my old hospital bag. It’s like I want everything to smell like clean laundry 🤣 I want to constantly change our bed sheets and my pyjamas and tops. But it’s a nice feeling always wanting everything to be pristine! My standards aren’t usually this high ha!

I phoned labour line this morning as I was in agony with my back and tummy cramps, I could not get comfy all night, I felt so much pressure down there. And I really worried I was going in to labour 5 weeks early!! The midwife put me at ease she said my body is ramping up for the big event. I am mentally starting to feel ready for it all! And can’t wait to have my squishy baby here!

bessie84 · 01/01/2020 08:49

HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone.

we're officially having babies this year. eeekkk!

had my last growth scan yesterday, hes still measuring massive. couldn't get his head measurement though cos he was too far down in my pelvis, but yesterday at 36+2 he was estimated 7lb 2oz (YIKES) C-section pencilled in at 38+1 on 13th January.

im so ready now. really fed up.

LolaLollypop · 01/01/2020 08:53

Happy New year everyone! I made the wise decision to stay in last night (had originally planned to go to a friend's kid-friendly house party but the thought of sleeping on a futon was not appealing!). I'm still trying to fight off an annoying cold that won't go away!

Watched the fireworks and treated myself to a nice Bailey's at midnight Grin

Bring on 2020 and our new arrivals!

doublebarrellednurse · 01/01/2020 18:01

Hey all happy new year ❤️ braxton hicks for me last night but nothing since (am 32+3). I can feel that she's dropped a bit and my boobs and nipples are developing 😳

I'm not at all keen for this to be over yet I've so much to do before then.

Dweebette · 01/01/2020 20:28

Happy new year everyone! I feel like I've got a bit of nesting going on as well, it's quite nice having things organised! How early should I wash the baby things we have? So keen to get things sorted but also don't want to do it too early in case I need to do it again. Also, any advise on baby baths? DH says "what's wrong with the sink" but others have said it's best to get a bath so I don't know. And if we do get a bath, what kind is best?

Physically in not finding 3rd trimester too bad but have been struggling mentally and not sure if it's pregnancy related or old issues creeping in again. Going to seek out some counselling I think

doublebarrellednurse · 01/01/2020 22:11

@Dweebette hope you're feeling better soon, you can usually self refer to NHS IAPT services in your local area if you google IAPT and your local area it'll pop up ❤️

We have a bath for baby as we only have a shower at home! It's one they can sit up in and has bum support but can't for the life of be think of its name.

I've had a good week off work but am back tomorrow and dreading it a bit, just the idea of going back to full speed is daunting! Never a dull moment though!

Ginny1234 · 01/01/2020 23:30

Happy new year new mums to be! I for one am glad to have Christmas over with so I can now pack it all away and crack on with project baby! Feeling like some nesting is well overdue.

Got my blood results back and all negative and no probs so I guess I must just be itchy because of reasons. So long as baby is ok I'm happy, if slightly nuts from itching all the time 🙄

Risked some really hot chilli 🌶 tonight because I'm sick of bland food and really fancied it - no acid since and no gaviscon before bed for the first time in weeks 🤷🏼‍♀️ baffling.

Cupcakes1234 · 02/01/2020 00:24

@Dweebette hope you feel better soon. At least you are seeking some help which is a good thing if you feel you're struggling. We used last time the angel care bath support which was a god send so have picked one up again this time quite cheap on Amazon. It can be used from birth until they can sit unaided a little.

I've definitely noticed how much my belly has dropped. I feel super low but I'm really struggling with breathing the most Sad. I just can't breathe properly so I'll be glad when that passes a bit! Tiredness and sicky feeling creeping back in again now too. But I'm remaining positive and happy for her to come whenever she is ready whenever that might be

45andfine · 02/01/2020 11:41

@bessie84 you're going to be the first of us to have our babies!!!! 13th is like 10 days away!!!! It's getting real. Are you ready?

45andfine · 02/01/2020 11:45

Baby baths are a huge pain to store, that's all I remember! I'm thinking the sink will be fine and will save plastic! Though my sister had a bucket like thing for her baby because she has epilepsy and couldn't bath him traditionally. She and he loved it.

45andfine · 02/01/2020 11:50

Dreading going back to work next week, I was so tired and grumpy, it's been lovely just being able to rest when I need to.

When is everyone else starting maternity leave? I've told work I'll start it at 38 weeks, which allows me 10 days before section.

Can't help feeling I'm just being lazy by wanting to start leave next week! (36 weeks)

Is everyone taking a full year off?

ballsdeep · 02/01/2020 11:54

I am in a wheelchair from pgp so I'm hoping they wil start me early. Baby is measuring huge too, 97th percentile and off the chart. I am worrying about a natural birth because I can't open my legs over 6 inches and she's on track to be between 10-11lb argh.
So glad your blood tests came back normal, I had cholestais in first pregnancy but they managed it so well.
Not long now

lovesT · 02/01/2020 16:01

@Dweebette we're going to be getting this one from amazon because we don't have much space so really need one that can fold down. It looks good! (Attached photo)

@Cupcakes1234 I feel like my bump has dropped too. But definitely with you on the breathing, it feels a lot more difficult at the moment! Especially when I've eaten too much which at this time of year is easy to do ...

@45andfine I go back on Tuesday and start maternity leave a week before due date on the 7th of Feb ... really hope I can make it!

Feeling very tired today and I'm doing my degree part time at the moment so trying to get all assignments done as soon as possible just in case baby comes early. Crazy times!!

bessie84 · 02/01/2020 17:00

@45andfine - totally ready. At my 36+2 week scan on tues he was estimated 7lb 2oz ALREADY. I honestly feel like we're bone on bone, hes so low in my pelvis. All stuff ready at home. Everything washed. Bags packed. Just need to spring clean and get him here. 😍

sulkysukey · 02/01/2020 17:07

Happy New Year everyone! Went on a New Years walk yesterday and had about 4-5 what felt like painful contractions over about an hour - was seriously worried I was in labour but I think it was just overexertion - they stopped once I sat down! But it made me start thinking about buying stuff... Does anyone have any advice about reusable nappies? Going to take some disposables to the hospital but then really want to get a good set of reusable stuff to go on with, but I've found looking online so confusing - so many different brands and options!

lovesT · 02/01/2020 17:16

@sulkysukey we will be using reusables. We've decided to not have disposables as an option and just go for it (hopefully we manage!). I found it really confusing looking online too, sooo many different kinds and very overwhelming. I can recommend The Nappy Lady (www.thenappylady.co.uk/). They have a questionnaire online which is very detailed but then they come back with recommendations and options based on what you've said and tailored to you, it's great! We were given three different options and have decided on one, just waiting for her to answer a couple more questions and then we'll order what we need 😊

In the long run it's going to save us money (and better for the environment of course!) sorry that's long but I hope it's helpful.

doublebarrellednurse · 02/01/2020 19:25

We are using reusables too :) used motherease first time round but gone for babino mio and some others this time as they are all in one.

I'm working up to 38 weeks if I make it that far and taking 6 months off, husband is taking 3 months off afterwards and then both back to work 😫 I put in a request for flexible working today and boss okayed it which is good so only working 3 days a week at work and the rest in evenings. Thank god for a 24/7 career! I need to get back after leave as gunning for a promotion which would make our lives a lot easier, but not looking forward to it! Was on such a low wage when I had DS 13 years ago I didn't go back for 4 years!

We've been looking at nursery's and things already and it's so weird thinking about it.

We've planned our budget for the next year and it's not pretty but should be manageable. Sadly I don't get great maternity benefits so having to make do with SMP 😩

LolaLollypop · 02/01/2020 19:49

@sulkysukey I keep getting Braxton Hicks whenever I over exert myself too! Also went on a walk today and could feel my bump tightening. Not too worried at the mo - I know what proper contractions feel like and they're much more painful than these! Shock

I've got three more weeks at work, finishing on 24th Jan then I'm taking the full year off! Maybe more!
