Thanks ladies for your massage advice, I'll give it a go tonight so fingers crossed 🤞🏻 @LolaLollypop ...buttering up the turkey! 😆 I'm not sure you're helping 🤔

I had a midwife appointment this morning and they think the baby is breech 🤦🏼‍♀️ I had been feeling sick and uncomfortable the last few days so knew he was in an awkward position but hadn't thought of breech as he was head down a couple of weeks ago. Hopefully there's time for him to sort himself out as got about 4 weeks to go. They said they don't bother scanning or doing anything until 36 weeks anyway and I'm only 33 +5 so will see what happens I guess.

@hazandduck & @LolaLollypop I was ok but started to fear the birth after today. It's my first so no idea what's going on really and no birth plan because I'll be induced at 38 weeks ish so I figure I'll just have to do whatever needs doing anyway. Also not packed anything so thinking I'll have to do that ASAP so I don't spiral in to a panic!
Ready for it to be over now. Really hard to think about anything else to distract myself now I'm the size of a bus too. Eyes 👀 on the prize!!

lovesT · 27/12/2019 22:04

@doublebarrellednurse I'm still having palpitations too, I've had them everyday probably for about three weeks now (quite consistent too) 😣☹️ had all the tests and nothing so I'm just trying to ignore them 🤷‍♀️ I'm currently doing an experiment to see if dairy has an impact. The other night we had a cheese and cracker night and they were really bad so I tried avoiding dairy as much as possible and they weren't as bad. I've done the same today and will do it tomorrow (if I can manage not to eat all of the Christmas chocolates that I so badly want 😭). It's all on a hunch but I'm so fed up of them I thought it's worth a try. I hope yours aren't too bad!

Anyone else still suffering with palpitations?

Dweebette · 28/12/2019 01:26

@lovesT yes, just stayed experiencing palpitations a few days ago as well as feeling like I can't really breathe properly. Not sure if it's anxiety related? It's very uncomfortable anyway

doublebarrellednurse · 28/12/2019 07:55

Glad I'm not alone @lovesT @Dweebette ! I'm dairy free anyway as intolerant but eggs set me off defo which makes me sad because they are life 😂

I feel like sometimes I should react more but 🤷🏻‍♀️

It's so weird knowing I'm gonna watch you all give birth before me lol my pelvis is getting so massively sore now, I wake up every morning very sore now. SPD in full swing but am lucky I got to nearly 32 weeks without it being too bad. The more active I am the better it is but the more I'm exhausted 😩

My mat cover starts in 3 weeks and I have to induct her 😬 it feels very real now

doublebarrellednurse · 28/12/2019 07:58

Is anyone else considering / practicing hypnobirthing?

I'm anxious about giving birth, I nearly died having my son 13 years ago and it put me off having another a little bit 😂 so I'm trying to make sure that I'm happy and calm during this one.

So far I'm really loving the approach and it is helping my mindset around the birth.

lovesT · 28/12/2019 08:29

@doublebarrellednurse @Dweebette I'm glad I'm not the only one too, but sorry that you're having them! The doctors just say if I have shortness of breath or chest pain then to go back but otherwise they can be a normal part of pregnancy 🤷‍♀️ I've got used to them now mostly but sometimes they're worse than other times.

@doublebarrellednurse definitely with you on pelvis pain, not all the time but if I've been sitting in certain positions or walking a lot then it's very uncomfortable 😣 I've been reading about hypnobirthing and want to practice it but can't afford classes so just focusing on breathing really. I did yoga once a week until we stopped from Christmas and I might start again in jan as much as I can because that helps a lot with relaxation and breathing!

It's so exciting we're all so close 😊 who will be first?! I went out with husband yesterday to get a 'coming home outfit' for baby and it's so cute 🥰

doublebarrellednurse · 28/12/2019 08:39

@lovesT I got a digital pack from the positive birth company when it was on offer and it's been so good. It works for us as we would struggle to get to classes.

Dweebette · 28/12/2019 10:51

@doublebarrellednurse I'm after you, 31+1 today so I'll be with you until the end most likely (although everyone keeps saying I'm going to go early because I'm carrying so low and have been on so much discomfort, fingers crossed I don't go over!).

@lovesT I'm also doing the digi pack from positive birth company, it was £39 and it really is fantastic. Just explains everything so well and I already feel my mindset changing. I wasn't anxious at all until the midwife spoke to me about pain relief and honestly I was so spooked I knew I had to do something. I'm trying for a natural birth with little or no pain relief so hoping hypnobirthing will get me through

Quirkyquichie · 28/12/2019 15:44

hi everyone, im 32 +2 which means ive around 5wks left. consultant says theyll be looking to induce around the 37 wk mark. feels like im sort of cheating having 3wk knocked off my total, which takes me to the end of jan/beginning of feb.
I had agrowth scan 2 weeks ago, baby was head down, which was a surprise as hes been doing a lot of starfishing up until that point. they estimated weight at 3lb 7, which I thought was about right going off google, but then she said the weight has dipped since las time,so.I have to go back again nextweek to see if hes back to following the line he was on. I thought oh ok, until she started to say that it could be that the placenta isnt working properly. they dont half know.how to put the fear into you do they?
had my mw app a couple of days later, baby has gone back to starfish mode and she couldnt find the heartbeat. my placenta is anterior so we knew this could happen. I spent the afternoon up at the hospital waiting to be stuck on a monitor and then monitored. they found it straight away, and I had been feeling him moving that morning and whilst I was waiting to be seen. so that was a big relief. ive had another app with the mw since, baby is back to head down and hb found straight away. hes my first boy out of 3 girls (1 still birth) ive a feeling hes going to be the one that turns me grey with worry.
ive got about 3weeks left in work after tonights nightshift, I only work 3 nights and I've got 2 nights holiday booked, so only 7 actual night shifts left.
my maternity officially starts on wk 36 which only gives me a week rest until

induction. im hoping that was a wise choice. id rather have the extra time at the end when hes here than at the beginning waiting for him to arrive.

sorry to have papped on, I haven't been on a few weeks again.

Quirkyquichie · 28/12/2019 15:48

hope everyone is well, looking forward to seeing the new arrival announcements over the next few weeks.

FirstTimeDS · 28/12/2019 16:16

Hi guys this thread seems more active. I'm 34+3 with my first. I'm sort of avoiding getting my bag together, has anyone done it yet?

Quirkyquichie · 28/12/2019 16:51

no, ive got a bag, got nothing in it though. I haven't bought a single baby grow or anything. I'm waiting until January when I finish work. ice bit got a cot yet either

Quirkyquichie · 28/12/2019 16:52

not got a cot*

45andfine · 28/12/2019 17:29

Sounds like you've had some ups and downs Quirky! Fingers crossed it's smoother from now on! I keep thinking that I'll worry less with each week, but you don't do you? The closer to delivery the more there is to worry about!

45andfine · 28/12/2019 17:34

Hello @firsttimeds I'm 34+2 with my 5th, I haven't packed a bag yet, but getting like I should!! DD2 is desperate to get me packing, but tbh, I don't know where to start. My first batch of children were all 8/9lb, but I'm thinking this one might be smaller, so waiting till growth scan in couple of weeks ago that I know what size clothes to pack. .... Okay even I can see that's a rubbish excuse 🤣🤣

45andfine · 28/12/2019 17:36

I HAVE got a cot though!! Went for a snuz pod, haven't bought any bedding for it yet, and need a new mattress as it's second hand. ( Anyone any ideas where to get replacement? They're £45 from Snuz pod and they're literally just foam!!🙄)

Marleym28 · 28/12/2019 18:55

I'm 33+5 today, feeling heavy and yesterday woke up with a cold so feeling a bit sorry for myself.

I'm proud of myself as think I've got my bag packed and barring a couple of bits left to buy think I'm there. Only managed to do it this early as I've got 4 weeks left at work and i think it's going to be quite busy so just trying to be prepared and take some of the pressure off.

Looking forward to seeing the announcements on here soon though.

Any magical cures for the cold? Let me know 🤣

FirstTimeDS · 28/12/2019 20:24

I took maternity leave early for my SPD so I can't even blame work for not packing...think I'm just nervous and happily pretending I've got loads of time xD

Rallycaz · 28/12/2019 23:51

I'm also due 28th February but will likely be 21st as need to have a C Section. Little man is measuring small so having to go to London every week for a scan to make sure he is growing, which is worrying and stressful.

sulkysukey · 29/12/2019 08:41

Interesting about palpitations and milk/eggs - when mine were bad after I had my ECG trace I cut my morning cup of tea (the only caffeine I have) and went vegan and they pretty much stopped. Then I got my gestational diabetes diagnosis and had to go back on the meat and cheese, since when I get the odd one but nothing like a few weeks ago.
Now they think I prob don't have GD but I'm keeping on monitoring my blood sugar and having growth scans to be on the safe side. Last growth scan baby was nearly off the scale big on all measurements (!) so I'm hoping to be induced at 38 weeks. That's in only 5 weeks and I've bought nothing. Was having a look at snuzpods/next to me cribs - they didn't exist when I had my other two - anyone got any recommendations? Some of the snuzpod reviews say the mattress is smelly which sounds a bit worrying for a newborn?
My baby is still breech too - I'm doing lots of waggling bum in the air poses but doesn't feel like it's done much yet!

bessie84 · 29/12/2019 14:17

@sulkysukey - im same as you with GD - Im doing the GD diet plan, meat/eggs. altho they say I don't have it - baby measuring off charts too. also having section early (im 36 weeks today, get my section date on Tuesday after my last growth scan)

palipitations -I also wondered if theyre diet realted, but I don't think they are for me, just come on very randomly.

also cribs - weve bought the tutti cozee bambini - after reading shit loads of reviews, some have hard mattress(chicco next to me) , some are smelly ect (snuz) - this one (tutti bambini) is soft and doesn't smell AND cos mothercare is closing down we got it mega cheap. were super happy with it. got moses basket for downstairs.

im on the look out now for a sleepyhead - for naps x

Ginny1234 · 29/12/2019 19:59

Latest panic: intrahepatuc chilestasis. Anyone have any experience of this? I've been really itchy in the evenings for a while now but had just been assuming it was because my clothes are getting tight but, just read the symptoms for this today and not sure. Massive acid reflux/heartburn fits with it as well. Will have to phone the midwife tomorrow I think because they can test the blood for bile and I'm worried enough to think it might actually be it.
Be good to know of anyone else experience though if you've had one.
Thank you x

hazandduck · 29/12/2019 23:50

@Ginny1234 I am currently on the watch out for obstetric cholestasis - is that the same thing? With my DD I got horrendous itching on the soles of my feet, palms of my hands and all over my belly etc! It came on at about 37 weeks I had no idea it was a worrying symptom and at 38 weeks I just text my midwife to see if it was normal one night when I scratched until I bled. She phoned me immediately and asked me to go to A&E! They then did weekly blood tests until DD was born, my bile salts doubled each week and I was near hysterical by that point, but they still said they’d not intervene until the levels reached what they considered a worrying level (I definitely think I had it undiagnosed as I had all the symptoms and my levels doubled!) Still DD was born perfectly healthy at 40+3 weeks, so who knows?

I would say hold your ground if you are concerned, ask for blood tests and always get checked if movements feel different. Try not to google as hard as that is, as all the scariest stories come up!

I’m 35 weeks on Thursday and feel so physically ready to give birth!! But we have got nothing actually ready for the baby! X

Ginny1234 · 30/12/2019 06:07

Thanks @hazandduck I'll speak to my midwife this morning and push for blood tests. Been awake a lot in the night and itching so getting worried now.

Im also ready for the finish line now. Everything seems such hard work now. 34 weeks and a Savoy cabbage today apparently!

LolaLollypop · 30/12/2019 09:38

@Ginny1234 itching can also be caused by the skin stretching. I had awful itching over my tummy and boobs a few weeks back but moisturised a lot more and it eventually went away.

Do get checked if you have further concerns but itching in pregnancy is quite normal sadly!
