So crazy that we're all so close to having our babies! All the best to you for tomorrow @bessie84 💐

DH and I are feeling ready for baby now, but at 35 weeks I guess it could be any time from a couple of weeks to 7 if I went really over due?! (I reeeaallly hope not). We're just to excited! And I'm too uncomfortable lol.

Has anyone tried/ is anyone going to try using a TENS machine? I've read so many good things about them and am thinking of getting one for early labour when at home.

We've ordered the reusable nappies so that feels exciting 😊 we've even put the car seat in the car today to make sure we know how to fit it!

LolaLollypop · 12/01/2020 16:25

@lovesT I can highly recommend the MamaTens website for TENS machine hire. You hire the machine 3 weeks before your due date. You have 5 weeks to use it then you return it to them. The machine was a life saver for me first time round - I'm due around the same time as you I think (16th) so I'll be ordering mine soon!

We did have a funny moment in the delivery suite when I was getting undressed to get into the birthing pool and forgot to turn the machine off, my husband got quite a strong electric shock from it 😁

bessie84 · 12/01/2020 16:29

Thank you all. Got my time slot. Im second on list. So to be there 7.30am. Ive been so calm.... til now... oh my christ (im pams voice off gavin & stacey 🤣)

Will update tomorrow. Xx

lovesT · 12/01/2020 16:50

@LolaLollypop that's great to hear from someone who has used one :) I'm thinking of just buying mine (can get it for £45 from Boots) because I would hopefully be using it for any other labours I'll be having in the future! It's the Babycare Elle TENS one. I think I will 'treat' myself to it. I was even thinking of asking for it as a bday present as my birthday is on the 11th but that might be a bit close! Yeah I am due on the 14th :) I'll make sure it's off before going in the pool then! 😂

@bessie84 we'll all be waiting to hear form you (when you're ready of course!) but how exciting to get to meet your little baby so soon 😊

hazandduck · 12/01/2020 17:17

Haha love Pamelaaa! Best of luck to you Bessie! This time tomorrow you’ll have your little one snuggled up in your arms ❤️

I used the Boots tens machine and plan to use it again. I started using it pretty much as soon as my contractions started, and right up until birth. It really, really helped me to have something to focus on (pressing the booster button when I felt the next one coming.) It was quite funny they had to prise it from my hands in the delivery room I couldn’t speak between contractions but was still pressing the button until they pointed out that the pads were no longer actually attached to my back and I was just pressing the button for nothing!! Placebo effect worked 🤣 Would highly recommend!

hazandduck · 12/01/2020 17:18

Ps this tens machine was my SIL’s, and has been shared among friends and family, you just have to buy new pads! So worth investing in x

Ginny1234 · 12/01/2020 18:32

ooh so exciting @bessie84! Best of luck. This time tomorrow it will be all cuddles and kisses xxx

lovesT · 12/01/2020 22:16

@hazandduck that's so funny, glad it helped though! I decided to go for it and have ordered mine 😊 I hope to be able to use it in the future and my SIL is due in June so I could lend it to her if she wanted it, hopefully it will be a good investment 😊

Quirkyquichie · 13/01/2020 00:39

I used the tens machine with my first, the hospital gave it me to use. it was great, I cranked that bad boy up to full, just remember to turn it off when the baby is out, amongst the rush I forgot, for the first 5 to ten minutes I was like ahhhh what's that, I think something's biting me. swear to Jesus, it felt like a thousand bees were stinging me simultaneously.

Quirkyquichie · 13/01/2020 23:08

Hi everyone, its getting close now. Im looking forward to updates on these arrivals. Hopefully Bessie has had her little bundle of joy now, so exciting.

FirstTimeDS · 13/01/2020 23:48

So close now. Shitting myself. 🤷

Ginny1234 · 14/01/2020 03:00

@FirstTimeDS you and me both 😱

45andfine · 14/01/2020 07:29

Also been thinking about Bessie! I've got final growth scan tomorrow, I'd put money on baby being about 20lb 🤣. Really looking forwards to being able to sleep on my back, front, sides.... Without pain.... Sleep. I'm looking forwards to sleep! 🤣

LolaLollypop · 14/01/2020 07:43

Good luck all mummies with babies incoming!!

I literally can't stop eating atm. I'm picking on food almost all day. I'm going to be The size of a house come mid Feb 😖

hazandduck · 14/01/2020 17:25

How was the scan @45andfine?

@LolaLollypop I think they say you stop gaining in the last few weeks so eat all you want! When else do you have such a good excuse 🤣

Do we need a new thread soon? What’s the limit? X

lovesT · 14/01/2020 17:54

People keep saying to me "a month today!" I didn't even realise! But due date is one the 14th Feb so, a month today - could be anytime though?!

After our tour last week of the birthing centre I went for an assessment there and have been booked in, now I'm excited! I also picked up my TENS machine from Boots today, so I'm feeling prepared ... I think.

We had our antenatal class last night which was fine but it's so late 😩 (well I'm finished at 9:45, but I'm usually in bed by 9 haha) and the chairs are not comfortable which I feel should be something to consider for an antenatal class?! We have one more to go next week, then back to bed at 9pm lol.

Anyone else been doing antenatal classes?

We're sooo close now!

Ginny1234 · 14/01/2020 21:11

We have had two antinatal classes now @lovesT ..I embraced myself last night 🤦🏼‍♀️ I hadn't slept for a few nights (back/in ache, acid reflux, baby thinking my tummy is a washing machine) so has forgotten about it and we only just made it in time. All the lovely other mums looked great and healthy and were really positive and keen and I just felt like shit and was really grumpy.
Anyway, midwife says to brainstorm what we expect from our partners as birth party to try and level out expectations. We went around the circle and all the lovely mums said positive things like be supportive, take charge and make decisions, rub my back etc. and then my turn, "Don't be a dick?". Not one person in the room was in my wave length and it landed like a lead balloon 🎈

Still my number one requirement from my husband on the day!

Ginny1234 · 14/01/2020 21:13

Embarrassed not embraced!!

lovesT · 14/01/2020 21:26

I feel your pain/ exhaustion/ discomfort! We were both so tired last night and I am so uncomfortable at the moment, every time I roll over in bed it hurts and my pelvic area is so sore where babies head it sitting. Last night it felt like she was head butting me and I'm really interested to see if she's starting to engage at my appointment on Friday?! It was so low down, ouch 😩.

I felt grumpy too because they left the break too late and I was so uncomfortable, and I felt like they tried to fit it a lot which felt a bit overwhelming. I was kind of hoping we'd meet some friends but I don't think that will happen .. they're all very nice but I think we're looking forward to next week being the last one 😊 I would have laughed, I think that's a good expectation 😄

I'm assuming everyone else is getting really sore and uncomfortable low down? It hurts every time I get up and walk and when I turn over at night 😩 can't wait to have a "normal" body again!

lovesT · 14/01/2020 21:28

@Ginny1234 that message was mostly supposed to be to you! Also I think it's fine to feel like that at the moment, I've been apologising to my husband for being so grumpy but that's just what's happening at the mo 🤷‍♀️

Ginny1234 · 14/01/2020 21:58

Thanks @lovesT - I'm glad it's not just me but sorry you're struggling too.

Late night classes with breaks is a bit bad planning for heavily pregnant mums. I'm going to make an extra special effort not to be grumpy at our next appointment on Thursday to try and make potential mum friends locally but not really feeling they're my people at the moment! I am quite old though so maybe just a different wavelength.

I'm feeling the really low down pressure and punches in what must be the mucus plug. Quite a worry at times as it feels like he might actually be breakout!
I've been doing loads of hip circles on the birth ball and walking to loosen my stiff hips so am also wondering if the combination will mean I've started to engage 🤔

In the bright side, pram, car seat, baby carrier rucksack thing and peppermint oil tablets all arrived today so feeling a bit more prepared. Just need to finish painting the jungle wall in the baby room and wash my clothes to pack my bag and put everything in the car.

Sooooo ready to go now! Last day of work next Thursday so counting down the days.

45andfine · 15/01/2020 07:40

@ginny1234 I found your comment funny!!!🤣 Don't be a dick is also my requirement! We haven't been to antenatal classes as they never cover much of a section birth, so I've asked and asked him to watch some videos of sections so that he doesn't faint. But all I get back is "I want it to be a surprise"🤦

Will someone please tell him it's major surgery that involves about 10 different people sticking things in me??? He looked genuinely shocked when I said it was an actually medical theatre and he would have to wear scrubs...
So " don't be a dick" sounds perfect!

( Yes, I'm grumpy, tired and in pain!!! Scan later though! ❤️)

doublebarrellednurse · 15/01/2020 08:31

Eeeek had a scan on Monday and baby is looking great, she's got hair and is est 5.5lbs! Still mid line.

I had +2 glucose in my urine though so back to taking my bloods 6 times a day 😬

doublebarrellednurse · 15/01/2020 08:32

I would happily go with don't be a dick 😂

lovesT · 15/01/2020 11:06

@Ginny1234 I find the same, I'm quite young and for the area I live in I'm much younger than most mums so find it difficult to find other mums my age, I'm hoping baby groups will open that up more but it's hard when you don't have people your age whatever age you are!

I'm glad we're going to the antenatal classes but I can't say they're covering much that I haven't read about or my midwife has told me. We also felt that this week was a little bit on the fear side which isn't helpful when trying to focus on hypnobirthing. The birth centre however is super relaxed which helps a lot.

I'm getting to the point of wanting baby out and having comfort back, as long as baby doesn't come until after next Friday when I'm 37 weeks (and not too late!) then all good ...
