@FirstTimeDS what a shock, you're in the best place though. Best of luck xx

Ginny1234 · 09/01/2020 17:12

@45andfine apparently, it's air bubbles popping and not a crocodile 🐊 phew 😅

45andfine · 09/01/2020 20:28

Good luck Firsttime!

45andfine · 09/01/2020 20:29

@ginny1234 bubbles?? Where from?!

doublebarrellednurse · 09/01/2020 20:32

Anyone transitioned in to massive pants yet? I ended up buying some high waisted pants 2 sizes bigger than my usual size recently and OMG they are ugly but so so comfy

lovesT · 09/01/2020 21:21

Anyone been getting back pain? I mean in the crampy sense ..last night I had some for a few minutes whilst lying on the sofa and been having them tonight too. Almost like period back pain? 35 weeks tomorrow 👍

45andfine · 09/01/2020 21:27

I LOVE massive pants! 🤣 They almost come up to my arm pits but... I DON'T CARE!🤣

Yes to achy back, had it last few nights, I'm assuming it's baby pressing on nerves as it goes away when I move...

FirstTimeDS · 09/01/2020 23:03

Discharged woo still 2cm so they said I can progress at home. Minor cramps nothing noteworthy could be 2 days could be 2 weeks🤔

I'd been ignoring real contractions, not entirely sure how I managed that

Dweebette · 10/01/2020 19:19

@FirstTimeDS that's great you got out to progress at home, good luck!

Yes to back pain here, just started today though. I'm 33 weeks and have period like cramps this evening but thinking out could be residual pain from physio session earlier this week for my hip pain. Going to take it extremely easy this weekend and rest loads, the exhaustion is real!!

lovesT · 10/01/2020 20:58

Okay glad I'm not the only one with back pain! Seems to come on in the evening so must be after being up all day. I've also had a few period kind of feelings but only mild.

@FirstTimeDS glad you're able to be at home and more relaxed, that mist have been quite a shock!

I have been going through the hypnobirthing digital course which was recommended earlier in the thread which is really good so far. We just got back from a tour of one of our local birthing centres and I'm in love with it .. we are touring another one tomorrow and I'll have an assessment next week to make sure all is okay to go there. I wasn't sure for a while but now really excited! Anyone else hoping for somewhere other than a hospital?

LolaLollypop · 10/01/2020 21:11

It literally just feels like I only just threw my last lot of baggy pants away (I think when my daughter turned 1 I decided enough was enough 😆).

I keep waking up on my back 🙄 despite sleeping in a massive pregnancy pillow. Was reading online stories earlier and scaring myself about stillbirth etc. Eek! Now I'm at the final stage I think I'm worrying more about something going wrong. Must remain calm!

hazandduck · 10/01/2020 23:45

Hope everyone is doing ok! 36+2 here and sooo uncomfortable. I have never known fanny daggers like it, DH just calls me Dags now lol. I honestly can hardly walk.
Nipples leaking more and more.
Uncomfortable if I sit still too long. Ditto if I stand too long. Oh and night sweats starting already!

I keep having waves of panic about giving birth. Midwife is coming round on Sunday with our birth pack in case I want to have the baby at home. I still can’t decide, part of me wants an epidural as soon as it starts!! I’m so scared of the whole thing! I never had this fear with my daughter. I waver between feeing like a total warrior who can do this to wanting to burst in to tears because I’m so anxious 😢 I wish I could wake up and my baby just be there next to me!

doublebarrellednurse · 11/01/2020 08:41

@hazandduck I really recommend googling The Positive Birth company and their digital pack - it's made me actually look forward to birth! It's been massively helpful as I had a very traumatic first labour which resulted in baby and I being in hospital critically ill for nearly a month afterwards.

@lovesT has been trying it too!

lovesT · 11/01/2020 09:07

@hazandduck yes i agree with @doublebarrellednurse 😊 it's worth a try if you're feeling nervous. I'm feeling quite relaxed and excited about it so far! The videos explain a lot well.

hazandduck · 11/01/2020 13:32

Thank you both so much, I’m going to look at it today! I need to do something to take back a bit of control! Really don’t want to give in to the fear because it can make it so much worse can’t it x

Dweebette · 11/01/2020 14:25

@hazandduck I'm also doing the positive birth company digital course and it's fantastic. I went from a permanent state of great to bring really excited for the birth and you get access to a private Facebook group where people post positive birth stories only, it has totally changed my mindset. I'm now listening to the relaxation recordings every night and usually fall asleep feeling totally relaxed as a result

hazandduck · 11/01/2020 15:29

Thanks @Dweebette, DH and I are looking at it right now, midwife is coming over tomorrow morning so I will chat to her too and buy it then. For £40 it’ll be worth a go!

I had such a positive outlook before I had DD, and for about a year after she was born, just felt pumped, I had her without any pain relief.

My mum had 4 natural births, 2 (including me) were at home, she’s always given me a really positive outlook on childbirth, I don’t know why since I got pregnant again this fear has just crept in, like I can’t handle it again, it literally keeps me up every night. So strange. I think I sort of feel like I can’t get that lucky to have a straightforward birth again, and now I know the pain it’s terrifying.

We can all do this though! Sorry to be such a negative nancy x

Dweebette · 11/01/2020 16:04

@hazandduck no apology necessary, everyone feels differently (honestly, I feel differently depending on the hour!) and they're all valid thoughts and feelings. We just need to do what we can to address them

doublebarrellednurse · 11/01/2020 18:09

Honestly @hazandduck the reason I sought it out was because I was so frightened and anxious after my last birth literally nearly killed me (not normal and a lot of negligence).

It's totally ok to feel how you feel. The course is fantastic and like @Dweebette I listen to the MP3 ever might and feel so good for it

bessie84 · 12/01/2020 09:37

@FirstTimeDS - good luck. hope your doing ok.

sorry I can never keep up ladies

im 38 weeks today, had 2 lots of steroids , 1 Friday, 1 Saturday - c-section tomorrow. :-) will come back to update. x

45andfine · 12/01/2020 12:16

@bessie84 ooooooo how are you feeling? Have you been in for your pre op today? What time do you have to be in in the morning? I've got 2 weeks to wait for mine, so heavy and tired now. Don't forget your peppermints!

bessie84 · 12/01/2020 13:20

@45andfine - im ok, no emotions yet. on with blitzing house, building crib/beddings ect. im just so ready for him to be born. im massive. hes estimated between 8 and 9 lb from growth scan already. I had allergic reaction to first lot of steroids, so went in for bloods and monitoring yesterday and they did pre-op then. so today is a waiting game til 2pm when I can ring labour ward to see what time were going in. (used to be 7am, but now you get an allocated slot, depending on where you are on the list out of 4 people)

keeping busy.

your 2 weeks will be here in no time, it seems forever but when day comes youll think, wow that came round fast!

peppermints - is that for the gas in shoulders? ill add it to my list, I need shop for a cherry bakewell hahaha x

45andfine · 12/01/2020 13:59

An allocated slot!! I love the idea of that! I've always had to turn up at 8am then just wait. Nil by mouth. latest was 4.46pm delivery! With my last baby, I got as far as being given the spinal then wheeled out to make room for an emergency!
Peppermint is life saver for trapped wind from where they move your intestines out of the way. Love the image of you eating cherry Bakewell in theatre! 🤣

hazandduck · 12/01/2020 14:50

Oh wow @bessie84 that is so exciting!! Will be thinking of you and your baby boy tomorrow!

Midwife came over today and dropped off the birthing pack. She made me feel so much better about how panicky I’ve been. She is not having any time off now until end of Feb she said just call me any time day or night I’ll be here and we will breathe through it together. I’m due on the 6th so almost guaranteed she will deliver my baby thank god. I asked her about the hypno birthing and she said she knows a midwife who does a similar course and can send me the details for free, I am happy to pay £40 any ways but will see what she sends.

How exciting the first ‘Feb’ baby will be here tomorrow!! X

hazandduck · 12/01/2020 14:54

@doublebarrellednurse so glad you have found something to help you so much after what sounds like an awful experience first time round!

And @Dweebette same here the emotions are so up and down! Right now my little girl is asleep on my and I’m just looking at her thinking “you’re my baby how can I have another!” 😭
