Due March 2020 - FIRST BABY in late 20's

lonelyonee · 24/07/2019 13:55

Hello!
Just wanted to start a new thread specifically for women who are in their late twenties & are having their first baby in March 2020! 🙂
Not trying to exclude anyone just think it will be nice to speak to women who are in the same sort of circumstances as myself. Plus the other March threads are pretty full!

Bit about me:

  • due 28th March 2020
  • 27 years old (DP is 24)
  • was on the combination pill for 12 years
  • been with DP a year and a half
  • SO excited as this is both our first baby (DP's ex had a miscarriage @ 10 weeks a few years ago)
  • feeling nauseous, boobs are killing, weeing loads & having cramps/pains.

Look forward to hearing your stories & sharing this experience with you! 🙂 xx

@lonelyonee Oh no!! Hopefully it was just a one off for you! I have had a few close encounters over the last couple of days but have managed to avoid actually being sick. So food aversive now, I will be surprised if I don't lose weight before I gain it! Can't really cope with any meat anymore, especially in the evenings weirdly.
How is everyone else coping with nausea?

Told my parents this evening 😊😊😊😊😊

welcome @Murdoe49 how did your parents react @SLT90?

Eventrider1 · 02/08/2019 09:05

@SLT90 I am really struggling. It has gradually been getting worse over the last few days and I spent most of last night awake feeling like I was going to be sick. Ended up having to call in sick to work today as I feel like any moment I am going to be ill. Hate feeling like this! Hopefully it will pass soon.

sgmp · 02/08/2019 10:01

Hi everyone, I'm Sophie (30) and husband and I are expecting first baby around 23rd March. I'm 6+4.

So far I've got such sore boobs and haven't been able to take my bra off for a couple of weeks now.

This past week I've been hit like a truck by exhaustion. I can barely get out of bed and feel so dizzy when standing up. Have had to have time off work but run own business so not too bad and don't have to tell anyone why.

I ended up in EPU 10 days ago with sharp stabbing pains in left hand side so they gave me an early scan. Turns out I have a cyst on ovary which won't affect baby but they need to monitor. They could see everything in place with a sac and yolk but was too early for heartbeat so back in on Mon for second scan. Wishing Monday to hurry up.

So nice to hear how everyone is getting on and to hear how worried everyone else is by all of the changes!

lonelyonee · 02/08/2019 11:43

@Dinosauraddict Thanks, me too, how did dinner go? 🙂

@Murdoe49 hey! How many weeks are you? Sounds like you've been quite lucky! I feel like I've had everything & I'm only 5+6.

@SLT90 i think I was the tea I had ☹️ but seems to have been a one off, I hope! Are you? Oh I'm glad I'm not the only one, I'm scared to eat anything at the moment in case it's a no go! I'm just drinking loads of squash/water to help with the nausea.
Oooo how did you do it? Hope they were thrilled for you!

@Eventrider1 oh no sorry to hear that ☹️ hoping it doesn't last too long.

@sgmp welcome! Ahh I've also been hit by said exhaustion truck, genuinely feel like a zombie at work! Aww there's a few of us who have had to have early scans due to pains, as horrible as it is I'm thankful that they don't mess about and get you booked in for these scans! Hope Monday goes well, post a pic if you can 🙂

I am so annoyed but I'm going to have to tell work about the pregnancy already (I think).
Have my second scan on 12th which I've told them I have a hospital appointment, but my manager said I have to give him the appointment details for their records? Is this right? I really didn't want to have to tell them this early... my own family don't even know yet. Any advice would be amazing! xx

@lonelyonee I an 6weeks 3 days

Hope2020 · 02/08/2019 14:07

Hey all, I've been lurking a few threads for a couple weeks now and I have finally plucked up the courage to join one.

I'm 29 and DH is 31, together for 6 years, married for 3 and it's our first pregnancy.

I am still in shock, I'm 8+2 today and had my midwife appointment earlier this week. I will be consultant led due to my BMI, but under shared care so I will still get to see the lovely midwife I met.

I am a nervous wreck and have never been so bodily aware in my whole life, I feel like I could notice an eyebrow hair missing. I had super sore boobs and huge boob growth, then it disappeared, but I still have intermittent soreness, nausea and tiredness.

Haven't got my 12 week scan appointment through yet, and have ummed and ahhed about whether to pay for an early scan because no news is good news right? Even though good news would be over-the-moon news!

Sorry, feels good to vent!!

eskimod · 02/08/2019 15:59

@Hope2020 hello!
I have a high BMI also, it's worrying at first isn't it? I don't feel really unhealthy or huge, i know I'm bigger than I should be for my height but hey ho. I've been told I need to take a higher dose of folic acid, have you?
I've set up any other thread for overweigh/plus size people if you want to talk on there too.
I've also starting ummming and ahhhing about getting an early scan, I'm only 6 weeks at the minute though. My midwife appointment isn't until 29th aug when I'll be 10 weeks. I'm soooo impatient!
Xx

lonelyonee · 02/08/2019 23:29

@Hope2020 welcome & congrats! Ahh don't worry I'm the same I'm so paranoid about every little thing at the moment but I'm being monitored by hospital as I've had some severe pain... obviously awful but means I get to have earlier scans to make sure everything's okay on the nhs. We were going to book an early scan to reassure ourselves, can't hurt to go and get some reassurance everything's okay if you can afford one 🙂
@eskimod aww I'm sure you're bmi isn't too much of an issue if you're normally healthy, plus bmi is one of those that isn't really that accurate of a measurement as everyone's different but I guess they have a duty of care to recommend different things in your case. I genuinely haven't got a clue what mine is as I've had none of my appointments yet, so we shall see what they say.
How are you feeling?

*Update: I had my midwife appointment through today - it's on 19th August so not too long to wait! Feel like August is appointment month as I have 3 so far booked haha.
I also ended up telling my manager at work. Sort of had to as I had to basically throw the phone at him and run off to the ladies in agony and he was like oh my god what is going on. At least now I'll get paid for my appointments but I'm fuming I've had to tell a rando before my own family if you know what I mean. Typical life eh never goes how you plan!
*
How is everyone else doing? xx

Oh my I'm so tired! Finished work at 1 yesterday went to bed at 2pm and got up at 5pm then went back to bed at 8.30pm and didn't wake up until 6.30am. Anyone else?

Murdoe49 · 03/08/2019 07:23

Didn't mean oh just realised it changed it Haha productive text and dont know how to edit post 😂

SLT90 · 03/08/2019 17:30

@Eventrider1 @lonelyonee Its the worst isn't it. Hopefully it passes for us by 12 weeks! I keep reminding myself that at least it is a symptom that things are still hopefully going in the right direction. Dreading work on Monday, going to have to arm myself with snacks haha eating definitely makes me feel way better even though I don't enjoy it - honestly worth trying to eat regularly!!

@lonelyonee sorry you had to tell your manager, but in some ways the early work know the easier it is. My work let you have as much sick leave as required if pregnant whereas normally you have to go to Occupational Health if you are off sick more than twice in a year. Will be useful if this morning sickness gets any worse! We normally have to give a vague description of any appts too so they can 'code' it on the leave system - you may have got away with saying you had to go for an xray/body scan for something you would rather not discuss 😂 when are you planning on telling your family?

@Dinosauraddict @lonelyonee It went so well 😊😊😊😊 told my siblings today too. Everyone is really excited and my mum just cried happy tears. She said she couldn't sleep with excitement the night after she found out, and keeps giving me hugs and telling me I will be the best mummy. We are staying with them at the moment because our new house isn't ready just yet, so I'm glad because it means I don't have to hide my sicky feeling from them. I didn't do anything particularly special - we had just got back from holiday so I told them we had made an error with our booking and there were actually 3 of us who went on holiday instead of 2. They all got it right away 😂😂

Dinosauraddict · 03/08/2019 18:01

@SLT90 I'm glad that telling them went so well.

Eventrider1 · 04/08/2019 17:30

Went for my early scan today and everything looked great. Dating to 6 weeks (but 6+4 according to last period) but we could see a tiny little heartbeat fluttering away.
The nausea has been pretty relentless since Friday morning. If it carries on, I think I will need to ask for something to help from the drs as I don’t know how I am going to get through the next few months if it carries on like this.

Dinosauraddict · 04/08/2019 18:21

Congratulations @Eventrider1 !!

SLT90 · 04/08/2019 23:13

@Eventrider1 good news about your scan 😊😊 I know how you feel, today I was the worst so far at coping with the nausea. Don't want to hang too much hope on it disappearing at 12 weeks incase it doesn't 😭

Hope2020 · 05/08/2019 18:18

@eskimod I've read in a couple of places now about the higher dose of folic acid but my midwife didn't suggest anything after I told her what I was taking, she didn't seem concerned either.

I'm definitely overweight but recently lost a bit of weight before conceiving, I would like to lose another 4 stone but put the diet on hold and just eating as healthily as possible (with what my nausea will allow). Will have a look for that other thread thanks!

@lonelyonee I thought I was going to have to tell my boss too because I have been in and out of the office due to nausea but now I have a cold so I think that has bought me cover for a while

X

lonelyonee · 05/08/2019 18:43

Sorry for being awol the weekend, was feeling extremely exhausted and pretty much just slept/chilled the whole weekend other than cooking Sunday dinner yesterday.

@Murdoe49 those sound like great working hours, I'm stuck here until 5pm and it feels like it's forever away! ☹️

@SLT90 hoping it passes, exhaustion has hit me like a truck! I'm barely functioning in all honesty. Yeah he's the nice one so I'd rather it be him, and now I've piled a tonne of appointments on him 😂 at least I'll get paid for them! I did try that but then I had to basically chuck the phone at him and run to the toilet so the jig was sorta up then. I'm sort of waiting for DP to say as he's the one who is making me wait, will probably be 12 weeks when we've had that scan.

@Dinosauraddict that's fab! Ahh there's no way you could have kept it secret then tbf! Aww that's so cute! I'm thinking about giving them those cards saying "guess what" with a scan picture in 🤷🏼‍♀️ what do you think?

@Eventrider1 aww that's such good news! Did you get a pic? I've just bought some ritz crackers today to keep me going at work, fingers crossed it helps 🤞🏻 might be worth a try?

So excited next week I've got my 2nd scan to make sure everything's okay then on 19th I've got my midwife appointment (it finally came through!). I'm literally counting down the days tbh... work is seriously the most boring ever & filled with arseholes so I just keep telling myself get through this pregnancy then I don't think I'll be going back to be honest. (I've felt like this for a while & feel like I just don't get anything out of my job at all, much more to the story of course but essentially I hate it).

How's everyone doing?

Eventrider1 · 06/08/2019 20:35

@lonelyonee yes I did get a pick but it just looks like a tiny kidney bean!

I have finally given in today and waiting for a call back from a doctor about taking something for this nausea. I have lost over half a stone since Friday as I just can’t eat and I am struggling to get through a day at work. I feel sick from the minute I wake up to the minute I fall asleep without a single bit of respite. Hopefully they will be able to give me something as this is like torture at the moment.

Dinosauraddict · 07/08/2019 07:23

@Eventrider1 that sounds awful, really hope they give you something to ease it!!

Today is 9+0 for me, which means scan day number 2! Grin

jlo6308 · 07/08/2019 13:42

Hi all,
I’m 26 and due around 31st March! Some nauseousness but no actual sickness to date 🤞🏼 I’ve been getting a few cramps here and there and a sort of burning/tingling sensation on my left side for the past few days. Went to the dr’s yesterday to get it checked out (worried about ectopic with it being on one side) but after a poke, prod and urine sample no issues as far as they can see 🤞🏼 Just wishing the next 6 weeks away for the 12 week scan 😩

lonelyonee · 07/08/2019 14:09

@Eventrider1 aww fab! Let us know how you get on and if they help! I've stashed some crackers at work for when I need one. I dare someone to tell me I can't have them! They're the only thing that helps!
@Dinosauraddict ohhh yay! How did it go? Let us know x

@jlo6308 welcome and congrats! Glad you're okay, i know yeah I feel the same just counting down the days til my scans. I hate keeping secrets and I'm struggling atm!!!

@lonelyonee it went really well thanks. Baby is right size and seems happy in there. Saw their arms and spine etc as well as heartbeat which was amazing. They've really grown in 2 weeks. I'm so proud of them!

Eventrider1 · 07/08/2019 14:29

@lonelyonee well I had a trip to the hospital at 1am this morning and I managed to get hold of some Buccastem. They taste awful and don’t get rid of the nausea completely but the do take the edge off which is great. The only downside is they make me a bit drowsy so I have just had to have a quick 15 minute nap at work to get through the rest of the afternoon. They only gave me two days worth though so I need to book an appointment with my doctor to try and get some more.
