Due March 2020 - FIRST BABY in late 20's

Hello!
Just wanted to start a new thread specifically for women who are in their late twenties & are having their first baby in March 2020! 🙂
Not trying to exclude anyone just think it will be nice to speak to women who are in the same sort of circumstances as myself. Plus the other March threads are pretty full!

Bit about me:

  • due 28th March 2020
  • 27 years old (DP is 24)
  • was on the combination pill for 12 years
  • been with DP a year and a half
  • SO excited as this is both our first baby (DP's ex had a miscarriage @ 10 weeks a few years ago)
  • feeling nauseous, boobs are killing, weeing loads & having cramps/pains.

Look forward to hearing your stories & sharing this experience with you! 🙂 xx

Welcome @Beckied !!
I wouldn't worry too much it seems like we're in the same boat regarding appointments. I can't even get in the doctors until 23rd August so no idea when I'll be able to see a midwife!
I'm glad you mentioned about people being shocked as you hadn't wanted children in the past. I think people will feel the same way about me as I've always been very focused on other things, but personally I think there is no right time & I could be waiting years more if I had my life "perfect" so to speak.
How's everyone else doing? xx

@lonelyonee I rang the doctors but they said I could self refer. I didn't need to see a doctor just go directly to the midwife. They have a number to call. Maybe you could do the same? You might get seen to earlier that way? Ask the doctors receptionist or google is there's a local self referral line?
One of the reasons my appointment is later is because I'm going on holiday (not abroad).

Eventrider1 · 30/07/2019 10:38

@eskimod mine said the same. Just have me the number of the midwifes and told me to book in with them directly. Managed to get an appointment for 2 weeks time.

I am a bit confused about the pack I was given to fill out though. Seems to be an awful lot of paperwork and some of it isn’t clear if I am supposed to fill it out or the midwife...

DaniX91 · 30/07/2019 10:53

Hey, just thought I'd update u all on the scan!
We saw baby and a strong, rapid heartbeat 😍. It was being a little tinker and getting into strange positions but the sonographer did manage to get a picture.
Obviously we're still anxious but feeling a lot better now and feels like we can start to get excited!

eskimod · 30/07/2019 11:27

@Eventrider1 I got a letter that said to only fill up to page 5 or 6 as the rest of the booklet is for later in the pregnancy. I think I had to fill up to the page that asks about mental health- I'm not sure if our booklets will be the same? A green one?

eskimod · 30/07/2019 11:27

@DaniX91 great news! Smile

DaniX91 · 30/07/2019 11:35

@eskimod thankyou!😊

Kam610 · 30/07/2019 11:53

Hi ladies! Just saw this thread pop up so thought I'd join. I was also on the March thread but this is quite fitting.

I'm 27, DH is 30. Been together 10 years, married for 9 months and recently went on our honeymoon (waited until summer) so we have a honeymoon baby!

I'm around 6+2. But had sharp cramps on Friday morning followed by brown discharge on Friday night which turned light pink on Saturday morning, so my anxiety was through the roof! It went away and this morning woke to slightly pink tinged discharge but have had no more since. Saw my GP yesterday who said It can be totally normal around this time. She didn't refer me for a scan as it's too early but it's starting to worry me now! Still have all my symptoms though which is reassuring - very sore breasts, nausea, food aversions and just yesterday started getting dizziness.

Keyboard91 · 30/07/2019 12:54

Hey everyone :)

Anxiety is through the roof as I’m getting some mild cramps on and off and some backache (which is all supposed to be normal if no blood) but my first MC was at 5+3 and I’m 5+5 today so can’t help but worry. Also very moody. And tired. It’s evil, pregnancy makes you exhausted and then throws insomnia into the mix 😴😴😴😴 I’m a bit of a hermit at the moment - don’t want to go out in case I damage the baby or throw up ... or both. I haven’t been sick yet, have mild nausea every now and again. Which I’m sure isn’t helping anxiety.

Welcome @ @Kam610

@lonelyonee I referred over the phone to the Gp receptionist who said the midwife will contact me directly. Rang yesterday as need to see a midwife in advance of 10 weeks and they couldn’t offer anything until end of August so Midwife is calling me tomorrow. I can’t even get a GP appointment - it’s mad!

@DaniX91 excellent news!

lonelyonee · 30/07/2019 13:23

@eskimod when I went to change over to the new doctors I filled out a maternity form for the midwife... not sure if this means I'll get an appointment once I've had my nurse appointment (the one to join the surgery). We shall see as they didn't give me a self referral number or anything.
I also have THREE hospitals to choose from which to be honest is a little overwhelming.

@DaniX91 that's fantastic! Did you get a print out? Is it nhs or private scan?

@Kam610 congrats on the honeymoon baby! Keep an eye on it for now, but if you feel something is wrong just go to the hospital. I've not had any bleeding but I was soon down A&E when I collapsed in a lot of pain. Hopefully you & baby are fine xx

@Keyboard91 it's insane isn't it! They are seriously in no rush to see me, and I'm concerned my 12 week scan will be delayed which I cannot bear as I'm not one for waiting! 😂 I'm actually useless though, the hospital phoned me yesterday to book me in for my early scan & I can't remember for the life of me what day and time she said 🙄 thinking I've got major baby brain already! Was defo Wednesday or Thursday either half 10 or half 11. Haven't got a clue so I'm going to have to phone them up and be like "I'm an idiot I don't remember what I agreed to". 😂😂😂

OP posts:
Keyboard91 · 30/07/2019 13:32

@lonelyonee I had to fill in the form for midwife too. No number given to me. Just said she’d be in touch. So that should be okay! And of all the departments to call and play the baby brain card 😂

So my latest fascination is for onion flavour instant mash and fridge cold Dr Pepper Zero 🙈

lonelyonee · 30/07/2019 13:58

@Keyboard91 I guess we'll find out? Haha!!! Yeah it's embarrassing but in my defence the call did wake me up and I had to scream to DP to ask which day was better. He reckons he told me Wednesday but I really can't remember at all 🙈
I've not had anything major as of yet but we had a dominoes the other day and usually it's my favourite thing... I will eat it cold idgaf but I just couldn't bring myself to eat it.
Did really fancy a beef roast yesterday but tbh at the moment I'm not really feeling hungry at all which is weird as last week all I wanted to do was eat 🤷🏼‍♀️

OP posts:
Eventrider1 · 30/07/2019 14:29

Gosh, the nausea has really hit me today Sad Just had a meeting with my manager who isn’t aware yet and almost threw up all over him! Think I will have to tell him soon if this continues...
So far I have found mini cheddars and spearmint polos seem to help a little.

Keyboard91 · 30/07/2019 14:36

@eventrider1 - I walked into my head of departments classroom and threw up in his bin before I even said hello at the beginning of my last pregnancy. I looked at him after and said ‘would you believe me if I said it was a dodgy takeaway’ ... he laughed 😂 he also said he would know unofficially until I wanted to declare it officially which I found really helpful as he didn’t do anything if I let something slide or missed a deadline by an hour or something

@lonelyonee we usually have a takeaway once or twice a month but I can’t stand them 🤦‍♀️ Except for chips. Hot fluffy chips. With salt and vinegar 😍

DaniX91 · 30/07/2019 16:19

@Keyboard91 thankyou! Mmm hot fluffy chips 😍 you've made me want some now ha.

@lonelyonee it was nhs due to the suspected eptopic and being too early to see anything at the previous scan. We did yea, I'll attach it so u can all have a look 😊.

I've just woken up from a 2 and a half hour nap and still feel absolutely done in!

Due March 2020 - FIRST BABY in late 20's
lonelyonee · 30/07/2019 18:23

@DaniX91 aww that's fantastic!!!! I'm so exited for mine now, just hoping everything is okay. Did it cost £5 for the pictures? & did you have transvaginal scan or a normal one?
I'm having mine tomorrow for the same reasons, I've posted about it in this thread.
@Keyboard91 I reckon I could eat some chips, with loadssss of vinegar on. The thought of McDonald's is not good though! 🤢 I can't eat my Doritos and salsa either 🙁
@Eventrider1 same I'm struggling today, but really don't want to inform work yet, already got nosey people asking why I've been off this week so far... cretins!!!

OP posts:
DaniX91 · 30/07/2019 18:38

@lonelyonee it was such a lovely experience 😊 we both ended up in tears! Well I asked OH to ask if he was allowed to video the screen (once we knew everything was ok) but the sonographer said that's against trust rules but she would print us one pic out.
She started with a normal ultrasound and thought she could see baby but it wasn't very clear so she did a transvaginal one. I came home and booked a private one for 3 weeks today.
I bet u can't wait for yours! Ignore the nosey cretins at work.

lonelyonee · 31/07/2019 17:23

Hey ladies hoped you're well!
Had my scan this morning @ 5+4.
Thankfully baby is in the womb safe and sound, we only really saw the gestational sac & yolk sac couldn't see baby yet so having another scan on 12th August to check baby is okay in there and for a heartbeat.
Defo similar situation as you @DaniX91 how come you had a scan to rule out ectopic? I'm just relieved baby is where it should be! Also very excited to have the next one & will 100% get a photo from that one (didn't see much point on this one as you couldn't see baby).
Planning on going back to work tomorrow (sigh), wish I didn't have to as I still feel crappy but I need the money & can't really afford any more time off this month now ☹️

Hope everyone else is well xx

DaniX91 · 31/07/2019 18:14

@lonelyonee aww that is good news 😊 yep definitely similarly to what happened to me. I had the early scans because I went to the doctors as I'd been to hospital with left sided pain and was fobbed off with antibiotics for a water infection for a week but still had the pain after taking them. Saw the gp in the doctor's surgery and he rang through to the hospital to get me seen immediately as he was worried it was eptopic with the pain being all one sided.

SLT90 · 01/08/2019 02:29

So exciting seeing your scan pic @DaniX91

I'm heading home from holiday today so finally going to be able to get my midwife self-referral sorted. Also get to tell my parents at last! So exciting. I'm 7 weeks today according to my dates. Morning sickness is definitely here and has been worse over the last 2 days especially 🤢 luckily haven't actually vomited yet 🤞

Been AWOL for a couple days so sorry. I'm now 8+1. Had my booking in appointment with MW yesterday which was helpful. I'm going to be consultant led which I'm not surprised about due to other health issues, and also managed to get my NHS antenatal classes booked for Dec. In our area we get 8 hours free covering everything from the birth to putting on nappies and breastfeeding. Also signed up for the NCT classes in Jan/Feb as think that'll be a good way to meet other soon-to-be mums. Got my next MW appointment booked (16 weeks) but waiting for letter in post re 12 week scan and consultant appointment. Got my next private scan on Weds - looking forward to that!

lonelyonee · 01/08/2019 13:57

@DaniX91 ahh yeah near enough the same then, maybe the water infection makes the cramping worse then. I honestly thought I was losing the baby the pain was that bad. Thankfully everything is okay, won't be able to breathe easy until my second scan though to confirm it's okay.
@SLT90 I was the same up until about half and hour ago where I threw up the cup of tea I'd just drank... not impressed ☹️
@Dinosauraddict oh that's really good, hopefully you'll get your scan date soon 🤞🏻 but at least you have your private one that'll be good 🙂

@lonelyonee I'm really glad everything's ok. I'm a bit calmer since last week when I had my first scan, but definitely counting down until next one. About to go out for dinner with DH and one of our best friends, so going to tell him that he'll soon be a godfather. Very excited. Grin

Murdoe49 · 01/08/2019 18:50

Hey! I'm emma. 26 will be 27 when I'm due (estimated about 24th March) my first child and not partners (25) as well! We have been together a year and a half. I have had really sore boobs (seem to be not as sore now) and I seem to have really bad dizzyness. My blood pressure is low but that's 'normal' for me so just batteling that atm!
