Due March 2020 - FIRST BABY in late 20's

Hello!
Just wanted to start a new thread specifically for women who are in their late twenties & are having their first baby in March 2020! 🙂
Not trying to exclude anyone just think it will be nice to speak to women who are in the same sort of circumstances as myself. Plus the other March threads are pretty full!

Bit about me:

  • due 28th March 2020
  • 27 years old (DP is 24)
  • was on the combination pill for 12 years
  • been with DP a year and a half
  • SO excited as this is both our first baby (DP's ex had a miscarriage @ 10 weeks a few years ago)
  • feeling nauseous, boobs are killing, weeing loads & having cramps/pains.

Look forward to hearing your stories & sharing this experience with you! 🙂 xx

@lonelyonee that makes me feel better, also feeding on demand but Pippa’s got into the mindset currently that after 5.30am she won’t go back to sleep until at least half 8 🤦‍♀️😂
Tell me about it, she’s 7 weeks on Tuesday and I can’t believe it! I’ve just packed away all of the newborn stuff too, they just grow so quickly don’t they!
Scar still healing, ended up with iodine dressing for it as it was still bleeding in the middle after 6 weeks, wish they’d have given me the dressing first time round when I called after 3 weeks! We’re also waiting on an appointment for the GP 6 week check, HV phoned the other day for their 6 week check but I missed the call so she left a voicemail basically saying she won’t be calling again now for two weeks as she’s ‘too busy next week’ in her words!! So no more support with anything whatsoever over here! Pippa is all healed up now though so that’s good 🙌🏼
How’re you guys feeling about the easing of lockdown/introducing to family etc?

@jl2345 it's so lonely isn't it. I'm really annoyed with the tv address last night... surely they should be sorting so that we can see family instead of strangers ffs. Getting really annoyed now and I don't really care about breaking the rules for a small number of people when my OH is working with a load of people EVERY DAY & coming home with god knows what, I mean COME ON.
Only place I've been in the last 6 weeks are appointments for Freddie & the supermarket (where people aren't social distancing btw) so what's the bloody point? I'd rather see my family than some scruffy fuck in Asda!

Eurgh sorry to rant but I'm losing the will to live now it's a joke.

So glad you're both doing well even if they did piss about with what you needed. I've got my 6 week check today at 4pm so will update afterwards but I'm pretty sure I've got an infection down there... pain and discharge in the area I had my cut 😭
Just thankful we're being seen at all tbf though!
Well that's absolutely shocking behaviour Jesus! How can she be too busy? They're not doing home visits so surely they have a little more time taking travel out of the day? I'd be fuming if I were you.
Mines tomorrow so we'll see what she says but I imagine it'll be more of the same... mental health questions etc... 🙄
I've been weighing Freddie at home myself and he's roughly 10lbs 4oz so he's gaining week by week 🥰 (and so he should the amount he bloody feeds!! 😂).

Hope everyone's well xx

I know, I feel the same. I’m also really conscious of the fact that if we’re not careful these babies are going to have really poor immune systems come winter as they won’t have been exposed to anything, even a common cold if this carries on.
Yeah I BBC was pretty fuming, I think I’m going to write a complaint about the aftercare when everything calms down, I’m aware that these are unique circumstances but as a first time mum I feel the aftercare has been absolutely abysmal. I haven’t even had anybody check my section wound since Left the hospital! Just took my word that out wasn’t healing and gave me the prescription, just don’t think it’s ok when it’s major surgery 🤨
Got Pippa’s jabs and check next week so I’m hoping they’ll weigh her then, she’s definitely gaining plenty though, she’s turning into such a chunk!

lonelyonee · 12/05/2020 12:42

@jl2345 oh I know I was thinking about that the other day and I don't know how we can help build them up without the usual contact 🤷🏼‍♀️
Hopefully the jabs will be straightforward, they should check you also! Have you spoken to your GP??
I don't blame you it's ridiculous. You're right you've had major surgery you should have been monitored and checked regularly imo.

Well I went & had our checks. Freddie is fantastic, although Dr didn't weigh him 🤷🏼‍♀️ Dr examined me and thinks I have a fungal infection but took a swab anyways and sent it off so we shall see. Been prescribed a cream for the meantime so hopefully it helps but I'm very very sore down there & I'm finding it painful to sit ☹️ I really don't think a fungal infection would cause such pain and discomfort? Especially only really on the one side where my stitches are? No idea 🤷🏼‍♀️
Also I have to contact my own GP regarding contraception as I was outsourced to another GP as mine isn't open to appointments unless over the phone. Fucking palaver I'm running round like a lunatic trying to get seen and appointments and prescriptions etc... 🙄😠

I want to know how I'm going to get this time back with my baby? The lack of everything we should have had.
There is a petition to extend maternity leave but that isn't beneficial to me as I need the money and extended my leave with holiday at Christmas time.

Fuming doesn't even cover how I feel about everything honestly ☹️
