Pink -where do you think my bloody baby is?!!!!!

I was just about to say....... I think I may have set things off again, with a v short walk to the shops..... I now have v bad back ache - like a v tight feeling, and lots of period pains mixed with contractions - haven't timed them - but they are coming more often than they have been for the last 24hrs.... perhaps my post on another thread realy has scared her into coming?!!

pinkrangerstartstowaddle · 17/08/2007 17:50

i did see your other thread

Come on BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
oh i do hope this is it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!xxxxxxxxxxxxx

conkertree · 17/08/2007 17:57

ooh exciting bagpuss - keep us posted (if you are able to - although given thatg you thought it would happen quickly once it got going, you maybe wont be able to.

GillL · 17/08/2007 18:32

good to hear from you babymad. Hope you get your well earned rest now. Maybe the visits are limited where you are but I had ds on Wednesday and have had a midwife every day so far, although that may be because he is not feeding often. But even before she knew that she would still have made her 3rd visit on Monday. I thought they would come out to you as often as you needed them up to 28 days.

congrats Stretchmarks. snap on the name! I'm with you about forgetting how much it hurt.

got my fingers crossed bagpuss. Hope to hear the good news very soon.

growingbagpuss · 17/08/2007 19:27

ok. DS in bed, DH gone to get fish and Chips (even if only he eats them to keep up his energy!!) - not sure about calling m/w - given how many tiimes we've had on off this week.. but about 7mins apart and quite painful actually. might risk getting tens machine out - hope that doesn't curse everything!! baby on way?!!!!!!!!

pinkrangerstartstowaddle · 17/08/2007 19:37

I do hope so Bagpuss!

Hersetta · 17/08/2007 19:58

Congrats to all those who had had their babies in the last few days and hope your CS went well today Itchy.

GBP - sounds very positive. Hope it all happens for you. You've been very patient under the circumstances.

I have finally finished work today after having been working like a mad thing this week - hence no posts from me for a while. I swear to god I am walking like John Wayne as her bottom feels so heavy in my pelvis so I can't wait for a few days of R & R before my CS on Thursday.

tokentotty · 17/08/2007 20:56

Guess what.....waters just broken !!! EEEEEK !

GBP - how are you doing??????????????????

This is going to be a good weekend!

ElenorRigby · 17/08/2007 21:13

m in the hospital...DP works here, Im in his office.

Anyway...
Im 4cm dilated withoout having any discernable contractions or pain. In fact I was 4cm when I had the sweep much to my surprise.

Been to delievery unit who think I have cervical erosion- I started bleeding quite badly a couple hours after the sweep I had this morning. They are keeping me in over night. Im on a post natal ward atm.

Babys been monitored several times and heart rate is fine- no signs of fetal distress so far crosses fingers

The CTG is showing I am having contractions now and I can feel them too but they are still not painful. They feel like a pressure bearing down on my bowel.
Is it normal to get to 4cm without feeling anyhthing I asked hte midwifes... no they said.
Is it normal to have contractions without pain, no they said!

Hope this carrys on ie the without pain bit crosses fingers again

So looks like Im here to stay and DP cant stay with me on the ward ...unless I go into labour proper and Im moved back to the delievery unit.

Regards
Elenor

pinkrangerstartstowaddle · 17/08/2007 21:14

Just posted on your other thread ER - hope all goes well for you x

Ceolas · 17/08/2007 21:15

Golly I'm feeling a bit left out here!

39 weeks today. No sign of anything yet.

pinkrangerstartstowaddle · 17/08/2007 21:17

dont worry ceolas, all quiet here as-well! 39+2 -

i think GBP will officially explode if anyone else has there baby before her!!

Pengy · 17/08/2007 22:04

Wow it is getting busy tonight. Congratulations to Uki and stretchmarks. Come on GBP, TT and Elenor, nearly there !!

Still nothing for me either Ceolas, also 39/40 today. Not holding out much hope for the next week but see my midwife again on Sunday. Did loads of walking today. Anyone else finding kicks are becoming painful now, really sharp twinges not just the sensations of movements as before?

Ceolas · 17/08/2007 22:05

Yes, I feel kicks really squeezing on my bladder and cervix now. Not comfortable!

bananabump · 17/08/2007 22:29

Hi guys, congratulations to all of you have had your babies in the last day or two, and to those of you who are currently labouring as we speak! Can't really catch up on posts right now, just got home from hospital with James for his jaundice.

One of the community midwifes noticed his jaundice on wednesday morning, and rang the childrens ward to get him admitted. They did a few heel prick tests to check his bilirubin levels, which were horrible (I started sobbing during the first test after he cried, it was pretty embarassing) they checked his levels again after one night of being under the lamp, but they were even higher than before so we had to stay in another 24 hours.

His levels are ok now thank god, it was horrible seeing him under that lamp crying, and knowing every minute I cuddled him was a minute longer we had to stay in hospital. At one point he was just crying for food incessantly and I fed him from both breasts til I had nothing left. Finally the nurse said he might be dehydrated and gave him boiled water which he guzzled down, I felt terrible I hadn't realised what he needed. Anyway everything's fine now, just need to keep an eye on him.

Gill and pinkranger, sorry once again for the mixup with the email my dp sent with Gills birth announcement, it was so typical that I got your text whilst in hospital!

mil goes home tomorrow finally, dp has to take her home because she can't possibly get a direct train with a lift to and from the stations... so he will be away two days. And then he's back at work so we've had no time together with baby. Grrr!!!

bananabump · 18/08/2007 00:28

Just added some pics to my profile, since J has been curled up on my chest for the last two hours.

tokentotty · 18/08/2007 06:02

Thanks for the thoughts, Betty came over about 9pm to check me out and all was fine so got sent to bed afterwards. Been dozing 'til about 2/3am and then conractions stopped us sleeping really so just had a nice bath. All very irregular unfortunately at the moment and seem to have eased up from what they were so there could well be a bit of a Bagpuss situation building here !!

Not wrong about the waters breaking being messy !! Blimey, they haven't stopped since

We have A BIRTH ANNOUNCEMENT!!!!!!!!!!

Growingbagpuss has finally had her baby!

Baby evie was born at 2.50am, weighing in at 9lb 8.5oz!
Labour was very short and sharp!!

CONGRATULATIONS to GBP and welcome to Evie!!

Good Luck TT - Hope thngs also get moving with you x

Annie75 · 18/08/2007 08:16

Ooh, how exciting TT! Fingers crossed this is it for you. Best advice I can give you is to remember to toke slowly and fully on the gas and air - it really works then! Also, I found putting out a babygrow in front of me when the contractions got intense helped me focus on what I was doing. Good luck and you'll be fine xx

Banana - sorry to hear about James. I had a similar experience with Nell. She was all ready to leave hospital and they suspected she had an infection. I was a tearful mess when I went up to the special baby unit watching them put a canula in her teeny little hand - she also had a touch of jaundice. They're so weeny that it's hard to watch and bear. Glad he's on the mend though - remember jaundice is really common.

Good luck with the labour proogressing, Elenor. I didn't feel pain with my contractions until I was quite far gone either. Hope you're not too lonely on the ward.

Annie75 · 18/08/2007 08:17

Aw, congratulations, Bagpuss! Lovely name and another gal x

stretchmarks · 18/08/2007 10:08

Morning all,

A big congratulations to GBP and Trinaj, gill, purplerabbit,MrsB, Itchy, Uki.

Fingers crossed for Elanor, TT and Pink.

Hope I've covered everyone

Alex is sleeping peacefully at the moment and mummy managed to get some well earned rest last night.

Induction was different to my expereince with DS1. I was given a pessary at 9am Thurs morning by 11am contractions had started. By 1pm contractions were irregular and fairly painful. DH got the midwife to check me again so I was strapped back to the monitor during lunch. She then checked me and found that I was 6cm so I was releived things were moving. I then went down to delivery but was put on monitoring again. Contractions continued and became stronger so started the gas and air. How ever at 4pm she checked me again and I was still 6cm. They then suggested breaking waters which I knew would make it more intense. Well waters were broken at 4.30pm had several really intense contractions so requested some additional pain relief. She came back with something can't remember what it was not pethedine but another injection. I think Midwife had managed to give me the injection when I just said I needed to push and he was out by 5.03pm. Got a second degree tear but apart from that all is well now so after a bit of stop and start a very fast and furious delivery.

growingbagpuss · 18/08/2007 11:10

Quick post while DS out with friends, and DH getting hair cut (priorities?!!)

TT -good luck!!

Evie... well contractions got nice and reg, got m/w out at about 9.30pm. Contractions all but stopped. M/w went home again 10.15pm. Contractions started again as she shut the door.... left it an hour ish, 6 minutes apart getting quite strong but nothing really awful. Then as I thought ok, this is now real again, and rang the labour ward, they went to 2-3 mins and not funny.

m/w came out at midnight. still 2-3 mins but v short. 4-5cm dilated (how gutting?!) babe v firmly back to back. naughty girl. 2 1/2 hrs of 2-3 mins suddenly getting longer and stronger. 2nd m/w came out at 2.00am. Waters broke wih huge POP! and straight into pushing - I have never been so scared!! Waters went at 2.30, Evie born 2.50. Crikey.

She's had a good feed, Mummy v wobbily and sicky (still), and exgausted. She's snoozed for ages. 1 tiny tear but no stitches, tens machine only (SHIT!!!!!!!)

Talk soon.

xxx

Hersetta · 18/08/2007 11:29

Well done GBP - patience is a virture it seems.

Banana - so glad to hear James is back home where he belongs. Need to have words with your DP though - needs to get this priorities to you and James and not his mother sorted.

Good luck TT - hope everything goes well.
