and im glad you got to have a home birth
xx

SweetyDarling · 16/08/2007 12:14

Congratulations everyone!! So many new little people!!
Am so jealous - have been dancing around the living room trying to get LO to engage. Think I'm going to have quite a wait still I'm afraid!

SweetyDarling · 16/08/2007 12:14

Is there anything you can take to soften the cervix?

growingbagpuss · 16/08/2007 12:34

Have just had 2nd sweep.... ok, everything HURTS now - like nasty period pains.... but

.... 4-5 cm dilated!! Membranes bulging, which is why it hurts so flaming much. She said if waters go, then could be quite fast..... a bit scary as not small babe, and DS home today!! Could be one for paramedics.. that would add some excitement wouldn't it?!

Off to do some star jumps, ironing and generally anything upright I can think of!

ElenorRigby · 16/08/2007 12:53

Congratulations Gill and good luck GBP!

Well after having a bloody show last night, I had diahorrea this morning for the first time in months and months!

No tightenings yet, that I can tell. Mind you Ive not felt a single Braxton Hicks- although the midwife I saw last week felt one when she was examining me last week, maybe I think every movement is baby confused

How can I bring on actual contractions or will they happen i thier own sweet time?

lovelybird · 16/08/2007 13:08

Congratulations Gill, and good luck Growingbagpuss. I'm still here with a contraction every 30 mins - will be here for days at this rate~ Thanks TT, will get the contraction master up and ready for hopefully later on when they're a lot closer together.

growingbagpuss · 16/08/2007 13:18

i think this might have done the trick - just taken 2 paracetamol and now getting baby's towels ready on warmer just incase.....v lots of pain!!!!!!!!! owwww! esp as she said stay upright - all I want to do is lie down and hug a hot water bottle!!

..good luck everyone else... will post later... either way!!

tokentotty · 16/08/2007 13:20

Come on Bagpuss !!!!!!!!!!!!

loler · 16/08/2007 13:31

Goodluck GBP - hope you've got someone to help you with DS (thank god for Ceebbies!).

I'm going through the tearful stage today - can't stop crying for no reason at all. Have just made so chocolate refridgerater cake and eaten most of it before it got to the fridge!

My mum announced last night that my sister would be coming to 'help' look after DC while I have baby and afterwards. She has just spent a week 'helping' me. I don't want her to come but don't want huge family arguements!

Pengy · 16/08/2007 13:33

Sounding all ready for you GBP! Good luck and looking forward to hearing of your LO's arrival! Hope things pick up for you lovelybird.

Congratulations Gill on your wee boy, look forward to hearing your name. Hope banana is getting on okay with James, I'm sure he'll be fine after a period sunbathing.

Just deciding what to have for lunch, can't believe how mushy my brain is these days about even the simplest decisions...

GillL · 16/08/2007 15:20

Thanks everyone.

Baby finally had his second feed since birth. In a bit of pain now as he has broken the skin but got the nipple shields at the ready just in case and doused it in kamillosan.

Dd is doing really well with the baby so far myweegirl. She got a bit upset last night because she thought we were going to put her and the baby to bed at the same time in her room. But she was ok after we explained that he had to sleep with mummy and daddy. What about your dd?

So excited for you growingbagpuss!!

loler · 16/08/2007 15:24

It's very quiet on here today, is everyone off having babies?

Someone else has popped, MrsBs announcement is here

my2weegirls · 16/08/2007 15:55

bagpuss - good luck!

gill - my dd adores her wee sister but has been a bit up and down with DP and i - think she realises that baby is here to stay now...

congratulations mrsbadger.

growingbagpuss · 16/08/2007 17:13

All this staying upright is all very well - but I'm exhausted!! I haven't had my usual lie down while DS has his midday nap!!

I think my body was in shock after the sweep, things have clamed down a bit now, but still hopeful for tonight! just need my waters to break really.....

... oh yes - Mrs Badger, you sneaky thing! Well done - look forward to hearing more... blimey, seem to be saying that more and more really....hmmmmmm CONGRATUALTIONS!!

I wonder how Stretchmarks is getting on - she was being induced today.... maybe we'll hear later.

Have resorted to CBeebies again - I'm simply too tired to play with DS right now!!

JackieNo · 16/08/2007 17:43

MrsBadger's had her cub.

JackieNo · 16/08/2007 17:44

(just noticed loler had already done it).

boobooma · 16/08/2007 20:02

Congratulations Mrs B and GillL and Trina.

Good luck Bagpuss.

Congratulations on the ECV lizziemum. I had a scan today after seeing midwife as she couldn't tell if baby was head down and cos I want a home birth. Fortunately, head is down, hurrah.

tokentotty · 16/08/2007 21:07

Talking of good luck....I think Pinkranger seems to be on the missing after her sweep yesterday ???

divamumplusbump · 16/08/2007 22:22

Congratulastions to MrsB,GILL,Trinaj
All excited I want my baby now

growingbagpuss · 17/08/2007 07:06

....>.....

nothing happening here.......

tokentotty · 17/08/2007 07:27

Oh you are kidding Bagpuss.....nothing at all ???

OP posts:
growingbagpuss · 17/08/2007 07:57

Nope... not a dickie bird.... I said didn't I, that by the time I DO go into labour, this baby will FALL out, I'll be so well dilated!!

My one saving grace is, that I now know that if I have to be induced, all they will need to do is break my waters - so I won't need "medical" induction (well.........)

What the F* do I need to do to get this thing moving?!

I'm going to be like Foxy off the July thread.....

Yesterday the M/w did say it could be v fast - and suggested that I might need to call the m/w, then call an ambulance so at least someone with a remote idea of how to deliver a baby is there... reassuring hey?!!!

tokentotty · 17/08/2007 08:01

They said that to a friend of mine, she was pregnant with her third and they were all pretty close together so they said that if she started labour she was to just grab a phone and lie down, no matter where she was !!
Nothing's happening for me either to be honest love. More show type discharge (nice...) but not much else. Seeing consultant this morning and then on to meet Betty on the hospital ward for a bit of monitoring. At least she'll probably do an exam again and can tell me what the state of play is. I find not knowing worse than knowing that I'm nowhere near for some reason.

OP posts:
growingbagpuss · 17/08/2007 08:05

I know what you mean - I am at least comforted by knowing I'm half way there already (ha ha!! wierd hey?) -just frustrated at my body's inablity to maintain contractions!

my b/f and I had a funny conversation about m/w's yesterday- she was saying some of her colleagues have examined themselves to check how far they were dilated (conjours some interesting pictures!!) -the m/w coming out on sat (for 3rd sweep.....) is v nice, but quite "by the book", so I won't be able to convince her to "accidentally" break my waters fro me!!..

And if my flaming mother texts me again with an "ahh, how are you today xxx" patronising message I shall stamp on my mobile phone!! [grrrrrrrr]

Annie75 · 17/08/2007 08:49

Itchy - hello and hope I haven't missed you. Finding it hard to get the time to go online at the moment!

Good luck with your c-section today - lots of deep breathing to relax you and you'll be fine. I forgot to add in previous post that you'll have a catheter for a day which will make you bed-bound. It doesn't hurt pulling it out - I was worried about that. Feels like pulling out a tampon.

Good luck x
