oh, this'll make you lot laugh:

Just took my car round to the local garage for its MOT.
Walking home I feel something wet on the back of my leg, then something squelching in my sandal.
Check I haven't stepped in a puddle - no puddles in evidence.
Check it's not bird poo or beginning of rainstorm - nope.
Check sandals didn't get left out in rain - nope, left sandal is dry.
Realise my skirt and pants are wet at the back...
Go into minor panic as obviously my waters have broken in the street, in public, while DH is three hours away on a London building site.
Fumble in bag for phone.
Discover bag is also wet.
Realise the handy bottle of water I brought didn't have its top properly shut and has been sloshing into my bag, which in turn leaked water onto my skirt, through to my pants and down my leg.
Skulk home with sopping bag and severe sense of anti-climax...

Hope the rest of you have a better day

divamumplusbump · 06/08/2007 16:29

that was hilarious. glad it wasnt your water broke.

bananabump · 06/08/2007 16:36

LOL ohhhh, MrsB... what a disappointment!

We're all on hyper labour alert! I'm finding it reassuring though that every time I think I'm properly in labour all fear and panic leave me and I just feel like "bring it on"

Then strangely enough when I'm sat about with nothing happening I'm thinking about delivery rooms full of gawping student doctors, me pooing in front of dp, swearing imaginatively at innocent midwives, glinting episiotomy scissors and "what if the baby has its arm stuck over its head"

Hopefully I'll go down the calm "bring it on" route when it does all kick off properly, I can't imagine the other train of thought is productive!

growingbagpuss · 06/08/2007 17:00

Mrs B - Just what I needed lol at the thought of you convinced your waters had gone in public!! Never mind hey?

These are some v stubborn babies!!

stretchmarks · 06/08/2007 17:55

Good luck Annie. MrsB lol.
Well nothing more to report here have been having pains on and off for days now but not progressing to anything stronger.
Had my first aromatherapy bath this morning which was lovely and relaxing if nothing else.

treacletart · 06/08/2007 18:44

Hi all - got back from the hospital this afternoon and I have a sleeping 7lb 3oz baby girl next to me. Imogen (Mimi for short) was born in the birthing pool at 3.20pm Sunday 5th after having my waters broken at 11.40am. I'll try and post some pics later, but I'm supposed to be sleeping when she is.... think I've still got too much adrenalin in my system! Good luck to all the contractors!

MrsBadger · 06/08/2007 18:46

Hurrah!

Congratulations Treacle and a big hello to Imogen

itchyncsratchy · 06/08/2007 19:09

saturn · 06/08/2007 19:12

Pengy · 06/08/2007 20:00

Congratulations treacle and welcome to Imogen. Starting to get really exciting now with babies most days!

MrsB laughing ++ but hope you weren't too disappointed...

bananabump · 06/08/2007 20:03

Heyyy fantastic, Treacletart! Mimi is such a cute nickname for her, can't wait to see pics.

Yeah wonder how Annie is getting on? she did say if she wasn't back later afternoon they'd probably keep her in. Ooh so excited for her!

Still getting the odd painful contraction but they're not regular at all, and quite far apart so not holding out much hope that this is it, but hopefully I'll have had him before the weekend! You never know.

Babylovesmuffins · 06/08/2007 20:55

Hi ladies.
Congratulations Treacletart and a big welcome to baby Imogen!
Annie - I hope everything is going well for you.
Like Kite said earlier I'm also a late-Auguster who's also very of all of you who have your LO's already!! Mind you, I had a bit of a false alarm this morning which panicked me into getting my bags ready, as I still had a few things to do. I've had sore period-type pains for the past few days and a sore lower back, then when I got up this morning I had what I thought was a show - sorry if TMI but it was a mucousy discharge but no blood and it kind of fell out in a big blob . I still have 2 weeks to go so I'm not expecting anything to start immediately but it did give me a bit of a reality check!!

Mrs B - your story made me LOL - must have given you a bit of a fright!!

Annie, Bagpuss, Conker, Stretchmarks - still keeping fingers crossed for you and anyone else who is having twinges

Babylovesmuffins · 06/08/2007 21:00

Sorry Babymad - didn't mean to miss you out. Fingers crossed for you too!!

jem1969 · 06/08/2007 21:11

Well done treacletart!

loler · 06/08/2007 21:22

Just popped on to check the latest - Congratulations and welcome to Mimi!

Good luck with anyone else in the early stages!

Looking forward to hearing Annie's news plus all details - hope she proves the breeches can be nice stories too.

A friend described a show as looking like a big lump of orange marmalade - completely agree that mine looked like that. It wasn't blood tinged or really what I expected - definatle couldn't miss it or confuse with anything else!

Babylovesmuffins · 06/08/2007 21:30

That's good to know about the orange marmalade description Loler ! At our NHS ante-natal classes they told us it would look like you'd blown your nose in a tissue and may be slightly blood-tinged.... my friend told me this morning that her show was like a handful of chopped liver!!

So I guess as soon as I see signs of chopped liver or marmalade, that's when I know to sit up and take notice

Babylovesmuffins · 06/08/2007 21:32

Hi there Jem
How are you and little Hannah doing?

Ceolas · 06/08/2007 21:33

Congratulations treacletart

Lol, MrsB. Bet you were excited for a minute!

Homes and Gardens madness here. Driveway dug up and prepared for paving today. DH decided it would be the perfect opportunity to dismantle the garden shed too as we had the use of a skip. New shed arriving on Thursday!

Preparing like mad inside for his 40th birthday on Friday too.

Can't believe we could be having a baby in two weeks

Ceolas · 06/08/2007 21:34

My show with DS (never had it with the girls) was more like nose-blowing than marmalade. Sort of cloudy pinkish jelly and lots of it. Quite gross actually...

treacletart · 06/08/2007 22:59

Some pics on my profile...

bananabump · 06/08/2007 23:36

Treacletart I'd love to see but it says:

Well, just had a late walk round tesco to try and get some contractions going again but apart from two quite far apart nothing's happening so I give up for today. But I feel like it'll be soon, he's so far down the bump has changed shape totally and I'm weeing a teaspoon every 5 mins!

BabyMadandBIGbump · 07/08/2007 03:01

Anyone up?, I'm getting board between these contractions?
