Pengy - know how you feel, i still have 2 weeks until EDD and going mad! ds was 14 days late so im thinking only fair that this one comes early!!

JSer · 06/08/2007 11:17

Wow what an exciting morning. Good luck to all of those currently contracting!

Kite - like you we had a frenzied weekend of tidying. Mainly inspired by MIL reminding us (in a nice way)that we only had a fortnight till due date and it could come anytime. Still lots to do and PIL are here decorating while I work!! They are the best PIL ever!

Am a bit knackered as our (student) neighbours were really noisy till 5am and we had to close the windows which made it even hotter . i don't know whether to go round and have a strop or just cackle evilly to myself that i will probably have revenge enough over the next few months/years!

Gill you looked great at the wedding. I went to visit friends in Scotland last weekend and some of them were rather uncomfortable - worried that i might pop at any moment .

right back to work - only 4 days to go - yippee!

conkertree · 06/08/2007 11:23

another question for those non-first timers - have posted on the childbirth thread as well, but thought i'd ask you lot specifically as well.

have been getting a lot of watery/egg whitey discharge over the last day or so - on the childbirth thread somebody said that could be waters starting to leak - i assumed amniotic fluid would be more watery rather than dischargy - any advice?

kiteflying · 06/08/2007 11:25

Jser - glad it was not just me! Lovely to see some "late-Auguster"s on the nesting drive, as well as this week's pineapple smoothie brigade. You need your rest - can you not chat to the students in a totally friendly way about the fact you are about to have a baby?

I hate the way hot weather has that double whammy of making noise carry up through your open windows at three times normal volume!
With all our to-ing and fro-ing of boxes to our loft, we did not think to get the fan down from there and had to have every window in the flat open.

BabyMadandBIGbump · 06/08/2007 11:28

Conker I've been getting lots of watery/egg whitey discharge CM for the past 3 weeks , sounds like a show to me and NOT your water's, yours baby water is like water, not like CM discharge at all!

myweegirl · 06/08/2007 11:30

morning - congratulations mum2george!

it's nice that the babies are eventually starting to pop out! and it sounds like a few a more are on their way very soon.

annie - that's how my waters went with DD - just a wee trickle - I'd phone the midwife if i were you so that they can double check. plus they won't want to leave you too long if they have gone...

gill - your DD is gorgeous!

i had midwife this morning - if nothing happens by next monday then they are going to do a sweep and have been booked for induction 18th aug (my due date is this wed). so at least i know that in 12ish days i'll have DC no. 2

myweegirl · 06/08/2007 11:37

i take too long to type!

conker - agree with babymad - your waters are like water.

BabyMadandBIGbump · 06/08/2007 11:40

Over on another tread I post on "TTC graduates" A fellow MNer has had her baby "1st august" so an august mummy but her little man was .......................wait for it..............wait......11lb 5oz, bloody hell!

conkertree · 06/08/2007 11:51

thanks babymad- thats what i thought but just wanted to check.

kiteflying · 06/08/2007 12:09

Am off to a water birth workshop for the afternoon so good luck everyone that might be popping today!

growingbagpuss · 06/08/2007 12:54

babymad - lavendar oil is supposed to encourage contractions.... which is new to me, as i always thought it relaxed yo - but apparently after 37 weeks its used to start contractions! at least it smells nicce if nothing else...

sory quiet typinpg as DS asleep next to comp (well, in room next to comp) -can't stay long, in agony after shopping, v tight tummy. got to decide if its knickers, tights, skirt or BABY !!!!!!

bananabump · 06/08/2007 12:55

Oh my goodness, a million posts to catch up on since this morning!

Yes, I was asleep Annie. Sounds like yours might be The Real Thing! So excited for you, keep us informed if you can. If it is your waters that have gone (put a pad on and sniff it when it feels damp- amniotic fluid should smell sweet) they might want you to come in at some point in the next 24 hours as it can leave you open to infection. However, if it is as someone said a hindwater leak, I don't think there's the same urgency. Best to talk to your midwife if things haven't "properly" kicked off within 24 hours, to be safe.

I haven't had any kind of show/waters as far as I can tell, although have been getting some (TMI alert) egg whitey discharge for past three weeks or so, but no more than at ovulation so didn't put it down to being a show.

Only woke up about 15 mins ago so not sure if the tightenings have stopped altogether, but I reckon if I was to walk around for a while I could get them going properly. Might take some raspberry leaf tablets as TT suggested, and a lavender bath (haven't got any clary sage)

Sorry to hear about your ds's ear infection, pink, I used to suffer from them terribly when I was small. Mum used to rub the side of my face with diluted lavender oil which was really soothing and helped me sleep. Hope he feels better soon!

tokentotty · 06/08/2007 13:00

Walk around Banana !!! Get them going again !! We want babies !!!!!

Bananabump

As i said earlier what you discribed sounds like the labour i had last time.

I didn't have a show untill my water broke and was already a 8cm. I didn't have any contraction before i got to the hospital and needed to push.

bananabump · 06/08/2007 13:12

Really Lizzie? oooh, that's encouraging thanks!

Ok TT I'll get busy with some housework and see if it gees them up a bit. Back later!

BabyMadandBIGbump · 06/08/2007 13:26

Thanks bagpuss

bananabump · 06/08/2007 13:32

Oh and speaking of dosages, when you say "take a handful of raspberry leaf tea tablets" how many do you think I should take? I just took 6 x 640mg strength ones with a glass of squash.

I'm going to have a lavender bath in a minute too and I was just going to chuck in about 6 drops diluted in a dash of milk, babymad.

Annie75 · 06/08/2007 13:43

Darn, been asked to come in for monitoring. I wasn't going to call - they called me! Said after waters have broken with a breech they like to start monitoring. Waters have been going all morning!

Anyway, once more unto the breech (haha). Might be false labour, I guess, but if I don't post back late pm, guess that's me popped.... Good luck with yours, Banana - hope things get started for you x.

myweegirl · 06/08/2007 13:48

good luck annie!

MrsBadger · 06/08/2007 13:49

good luck Annie - and remember, once you've been on the monitor for 20-30min they have all the trace they need, so ask to go for a wee, get unstrapped and don't let them strap you back down unless they have a damn good reason!

bananabump · 06/08/2007 13:50

Ohhhhh so excited for you Annie, the very best of luck!! Hope it all goes smoothly and you come home with your little bundle and make us all jealous.

Pengy · 06/08/2007 13:53

Good luck Annie!

tokentotty · 06/08/2007 14:08

Good luck Annie - hopefully this is it and in a few hours you'll be holding your LO after a wonderful, smooth delivery.

Ok, other questions - I'd put in 5-6 drops of the lavender oil into your bath and just lie (left hand side if possible obviously ) and relax. Perhaps throw a bit of nipple stimulation in for good measure too ?? And as for the raspberry leaf tabs, that sounds ok to me as a blaster and exactly what I'd take. I try to take that many per day.
