DUE DATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Welcome Rhiannon (sorry if spellingoff)!! Welcome to the world of very well cooked August babies !!

My it was hot last night! I took an ice pack to bed with me to stuff under my arm pits to try and cool me down - it did work!!

On the subject of annoying calls - my mother and sister have got it down to an art....I usually text them to say "no, nothing overnight", and 5 minutes later get a call or text to say "anythign happening?" GRRRRRRRRR "Yes -I'm in boody labour, I just thought I wouldn't tell you!!" I did tell Mum yesterday how annoying it is!!

tokentotty · 06/08/2007 07:40

Hey Annie, x-posted - fingers crossed for you too !!! this could start getting very exciting on here at this rate !!

Congrats on getting to your duedate, bagpuss! Hope you don't go too over.

Annie, shall we have a race? LOL Mine aren't entirely like what I was expecting so I'm really not holding out much hope that they're real. I was expecting to feel them coming from the top of the bump downwards and feel like really tight squeezing, but they mostly feel like period gripes really low down, with uncomfortable backache as I said.

I think I might go back to bed though, I'm pretty tired. I'm sure if it's real it'll wake me up! Will check in on you later x

BabyMadandBIGbump · 06/08/2007 09:23

Morning Ladies!

Hope everyone had a good weekend I had a busy one, still got lots to do today!

I was so bloody hot yesterday, I had to have a cold full body wash just to cool down again!

Bagpuss and Conkertree same story here too MIL said maybe it;s slow labour

I've had lots of belly pains and backache but just disappear when I go to sleep, I'm sure it'll happen soon, MW is doing a sweep on thursday but not looking forward to that. DS's have gone to the seaside with gran today and wont be back till late and DH at work (not happy) he said this morning before leaving "this is not on you know" and gave me a smile bless!

Hope every one is fine and well today!

Babymadxxx

growingbagpuss · 06/08/2007 09:35

After I had DS, the M/w said she thought I'd been in labour for about a week, and that the thing taht set things off good and proper was my waters breaking. Apparently it was a good job I didn't ring the labour ward any earlier, they'd have had me in and induced before you could blink!!

Much cooler here today, so don't mind having a baby...

lizziemun · 06/08/2007 09:35

bananabump

Thats what my labour with dd was like. I thought i had backache because i was sitting doing some sewing and not sitting right.

GillL · 06/08/2007 09:52

Morning everyone and congrats mum2george.

I managed to make it up to my sister's wedding and back without having my baby. All day long I had strange old women (from the groom's side, who I'd never met before) telling me how well I was doing. It was nice for them to be concerned but did get a bit annoying after a while. I don't really like the pictures of me, not because of the bump but I didn't really like the way they did my hair. I'll put some pics on my profile anyway. I spent all day going to the loo but I was amazed at how I managed to last the day and not feel too bad. I think everyone expected me to be fainting or making lots of fuss about feeling awful. I think the pg hormones were in abundance though. Dd was a bridesmaid and I burst into tears when I saw her walking down the aisle holding her cousin's hand. I thought I was going to be in too much of a state to do my reading.

Anyway, midwife is coming round tomorrow, hopefully with my home birth pack. I'm sure mum will have dd so I might even get a lay in.

Hope things start to kick off for you soon banana, Annie and growingbagpuss.

conkertree · 06/08/2007 10:14

still not moving on here - was so promising - had contractions every 10 mins or so from about 5pm yesterday - not that painful but very noticeable tightenings, so started writing them down just in case. went to bed - fair bit of pain overnight but still slept at times as well - i thought if they got worse they would wake me up, then this morning, although i'm still getting a fair amount of tightenings, the pain isnt there so much. i didnt get too excited, but at the same time, i was really hoping that it was starting properly.

am going to go and plan some things to do this week - although saying that just had one that made me put the laptop down - so you never know.

bit of a miserable day here so might just go to the cinema. hope the rest of you are having good days.

tokentotty · 06/08/2007 10:20

Conkertree - get someone to get you some essential oils of clary sage and lavender and get in the bath. Also, neck a handful of raspberry leaf tea tablets...

OP posts:
GillL · 06/08/2007 10:23

Sounds promising conker. Good luck. My day hasn't started off so well. Got my stomach upset back and dd managed to do a poo in her knickers while she was in her bedroom and somehow got some of it on the carpet Let's hope this is the worst it gets.

Off to do the food shopping soon. It's getting much harder to push the trolley round so I'll get dh to do it next week. I'll need to stay close to home anyway.

Annie75 · 06/08/2007 10:27

Aw, glad you had a nice day at your sis's wedding, Gill. And really pleased you're getting your home birth too

Okay, some advice from those of you that have done this before. The pains are getting more frequent, but not regular. Seem to be anywhere from 15-35 mins apart. They feel like strong period pains, quite low down. I think I was getting them in the night as I kept waking up. Just had a trickle of water over last 10 mins too - what's it like when your waters break? And, though this all seems to be too much at once to be right, er,

tokentotty · 06/08/2007 10:30

That sounds JUST like a show Annie !!! Also, if the waters are a trickle then I'm pretty sure they call that your hind waters going as the fore waters are more of a 'gush' (apparently). I was told that contractions would start very low down and then as they progressed get higher up. If in ANY doubt though, call your midwife and describe exactly what you've told us - good luck xx

Annie75 · 06/08/2007 10:31

Ooh Conker - just seen your post. This is getting funny. Imagine if we all pop at the same time?!

Btw, an independent midwife I spoke to recently recommended lots of long walks to help the baby descend into the pelvis and lots of sex to help the cervix ripen (if you can stand it!). Oral sex does not count, no matter how many times your men try to persuade you otherwise as the semen is destroyed by your stomach acid! Anyway, I'm 4 days off my due date but have been, er, following her advice for the last three days and things look promising.. Am glad, as being overdue with a breech wouldn't be good

Annie75 · 06/08/2007 10:33

Thanks, TT Will do progress reports! Sht - was going to have a good day sorting last min things for hospital, but now just feel inclined to sit and monitor all this...

growingbagpuss · 06/08/2007 10:34

Annie - that certianly sounds promising.. you are planning on delivery naturally aren't you? (as opposed to C section?) - I would ring them def - with a breech they'll want to check you out....hmmm.. although, maybe best leave it a little longer.... .. try walking around a bit, and see if it moves any more fluid, then you'll feel more sure!

tokentotty · 06/08/2007 10:38

That'd be great Annie !! Had decided to stay in today so this could definitely help the time pass. Am just going to pop out and get myself some clary sage oil and lavender oil to see if there is anything I can do to help myself as well seeing as so far have tried sex and then pineapple and nothing doing!

pinkrangerstartstowaddle · 06/08/2007 10:39

sounds good Annie!
Happy Due date bagpuss, hope its not to long for you!

Nothing exciting here im fraid, lots of bouncing on ball and yes tt, the raspberry tablets!
Was up most of the night with ds who after a trip to the doctors this morning has been confirmed with an Ear infection feel so sorry for him as he is tough as old boots, dosnt cry when his poorly, or falls over but was really sobbing this morning with the pain he is asleep on sofa at mo so im also going to try for a doze!

Now watch this baby arrive that he is ill!!!!

tokentotty · 06/08/2007 10:42

Hey Pink, was just going to ask around about you as thought you'd been awol for a few days...! Sorry to hear about your poor DS, is awful when they're feeling that rough and there's nothing you can do to help.

kiteflying · 06/08/2007 10:45

Morning everyone. Wow, this thread has gone from being an agony aunt column to a blockbuster in such a short space of time. Congrats to mumtogeorge and fingers crossed for those having "promising" contractions already. Cannot wait to hear back from treacletart. Babies, babies everywhere.
GillL glad you got to your sister's wedding - it sounds like an emotional event and your DD looked gorgeous! Loved your dress as well.
Well as someone with three to five weeks wait to sit out I am very envious even of those of you who are aching with frustration over missing your due date.
My weekend was a marathon sorting out and decluttering effort, with much help from my darling sweet helpful DP. Up until then he had been dismissively confident that the baby would be "weeks away" and could not understand my sense of urgency.
Not as exciting as having a baby but I feel calmer (and exhausted!) for doing so.

kiteflying · 06/08/2007 10:49

By the way I started my post way back after conker posted so I missed everything in between - not being insensitive to poor Pink's DS. And good luck Annie!!

conkertree · 06/08/2007 10:52

will try that tt - will get some oils when we go out to the cinema this afternoon.

and think will try long walks again - purplerabbit and i went for a few long walks on saturday and i was knackered yesterday so had a bit of a lazy day but think its time to get more active again.

Did treacle have a text buddy?

annie - your symptoms sound much more promising than mine - am . good luck - hope things go really well.

Annie75 · 06/08/2007 10:54

Just seen your pics, Gill - you look v elegant and your DD looks so sweet!

I kept reading about women who gave birth 3-4 weeks ahead of their due date, Kite - then panicked over my lack of preparedness. Pretty much left it all until last minute, but lovely feeling having things more sorted now.

And yep, am planning natural delivery for breech, Bagpuss. I know the lovely midwife who is prepared to support me is currently at home asleep after being up all night as she cancelled an appt with me today, so my inclination is to sit it out until I'm really really sure. My friend recently had contractions that went on for days after her waters broke, so guess it could still be a while ...

Banana you asleep?

BabyMadandBIGbump · 06/08/2007 10:59

what does "lavender oil" do????????

Pengy · 06/08/2007 11:02

Sounds very promising Annie! Waters can definitely be a trickle not a gush, at antenatal classes they suggested going to toilet then putting a pad in and rechecking after 20minutes as if waters will be wet again. Is your DH with you?

Pink sorry to hear about DS, hope he feels better really soon!

Like kite I'm a bit jealous thinking I still have 2-4+ weeks to wait... Finding weather far too hot and my poor belly is covered in a rash.
