Oh FFS, now the new car has a cracked windscreen. I’ve gone from pissed off to nuclear, too much to bloody do as it is! Angry

Karigan195 · 15/07/2019 12:07

deep breaths. That’s your 3 things now so life will hopefully give you a break now!

#ivegotthedecaf nothing on the maternity allowance as yet my 6 week wait will be up next week so will be straight on the phone !

IVEgottheDECAF · 15/07/2019 12:34

That is a shame Dipsy! I was hopeful you would get your early and then mine would follow Grin

Stroan · 15/07/2019 13:23

@lavellan what a nightmare, have they even tracked down where it is? Hope it arrives soon.

BA lost ours for five days once, we'd come back from New York. They wouldn't pay for any replacements because they said we should have everything we needed at home. Things like chargers, hair straighteners etc were all in the case.

Lavellan · 15/07/2019 14:06

No they have no idea. It will be in the UK at least. I can't even remember what it was like to have a full choice of clothes. 32 weeks and I've really blimped out now lol!

BBell2 · 15/07/2019 15:21

Took the morning off for a hair-do ahead of my brother wedding. I'm feeling what I have to wear is a dark and dowdy, definately more winter attire. My SIL has done my hair and I dont like it. She kept saying "oh last time you had X, but that's really light..." I said yes because I want it light, I really like the blond...so she mixes the colour I like and a second for definition...slaps that all over my head. Looks like I'm spending all week in the shower trying to wash some of the brass out.

IVEgottheDECAF · 15/07/2019 16:27

Bbell she sounds annoying Blush i hope you did not pay for this 'service'

Megan2018 · 15/07/2019 16:33

The windscreen crack has now spread so much the car is un-driveable and currently the earliest autoglass can replace is Saturday. Currently trying to sort out transport for tomorrow - Thurs as have to get to work and horse somehow.

If only these were the 3 things @Karigan195 Our sky box died on Saturday so we’ve lost everything I’d saved for mat leave plus can’t record/pause or use catch up. Waiting for engineer visit for that too. Plus still in dispute with builder over snag and being given the run around my LABC. Head is genuinely going to go pop soon as just want a bit of peace.

All little things on their own but my pregnant state is not coping with stress at all.

BBell2 · 15/07/2019 16:41

@ivegotthedecaf I didnt, so I dont feel I can complain to her, FIL owns the salon and pays for the colour, I babysit her two as payment for her time. She is a professional colourist, just sort of does what she thinks is "best".

Does anyone have sore boobs? I've a pain point like a blocked duct and have that wierd craving feeling like I need to feed a baby to make it better!

IVEgottheDECAF · 15/07/2019 16:46

Mine have been sore a couple of times in the past week too!

IVEgottheDECAF · 15/07/2019 16:46

Megan can someone else deal with some of your stress causes?

TheCraicDealer · 15/07/2019 18:44

Stroan they live a fifty minute flight or ferry-and-drive away, which means flying visits aren't really possible. On the upside it also means there can be no unannounced or too frequent visits, so I can appear to be really welcoming but know they won't see it as a sign they can take the piss!

A dear friend and work colleague told me she's 11w pregnant today and I'm absolutely buzzing for her.

In other news, has anyone seen that Cybex have launched an electric pram? It gives a boost of power if it senses you're going up or down a hill to help take the weight of the load. Starts at £1,200 and that doesn't even include the carrycot! Seems a bit gimmicky, but maybe in 30 years time we'll be giving off to our DC, "in my day we had to push our own prams!".

IVEgottheDECAF · 15/07/2019 18:50

I remember when i had dc1. Being on a bus and an old couple having a rant about this pram that was on the bus (not mine) The pram had brake cables, this couple thought it was electric and "just pure laziness"

Stroan · 15/07/2019 19:52

@thecraicdealer same for my in laws. But that 50 minute flight is held in the same regard as a 14 hour transatlantic journey!

There was a pram in the last few years that folded itself and generated it's own power, could charge your phone, measure distance and had headlights!

DustyDoorframes · 15/07/2019 20:27

Stroan that's quite a pram!!!

What have you all been wearing on properly hot days? I'm trying to figure out if I have enough functional clothes for a Mediterranean holiday. A couple of things I've been wearing need leggings under so may boil me...

KnobJockey · 15/07/2019 20:37

I also have done a bit of very similar Amazon shopping, Givenchy- a cabriofix, another firestick, and I got a gro-egg for £8.99 which I thought was an absolute bargain!

Stroan · 15/07/2019 20:58

@dustydoorframes I've been wearing a knee length dress if I have to go anywhere and either short casual dresses or vests and loose shorts in the garden.

My main strategy for coping with the heat is not to leave my garden so no-one witnesses the true horror. All that said, I live in Scotland. It's not really hot!

DustyDoorframes · 15/07/2019 21:01

@stroan thank you! Is it maternity shorts or are you managing with normal ones under the bump?

Stroan · 15/07/2019 21:12

Oh god no, I can't manage normal anything! I just got a pair of super cheap jersey ones from the Dorothy Perkins Maternity sale. Ridiculously comfy, ridiculously ugly!

I would probably try to grab a couple of cheap summer dresses from New Look or Asda if I was going on a warm holiday.

TheCraicDealer · 15/07/2019 21:19

I got a set of MAM bottles for £19, £38.50 in Boots. I have two of the small MAM Boots freebies through the parenting club so that should do us bottle wise for the first few weeks. Going to try BF initially but we will be moving towards combi feeding ultimately.

Boohoo has a maternity range which is cheap as chips and they have plenty of options like plain jersey T-shirt/vest dresses. A few of them with Jojo Maman Bebe cycling short support pants (fuck you, chaffing) saw me through my hols.

Moraxella · 15/07/2019 21:20

@RonaldWeasley I’m doing a transat flight at 35+5 😱 Bit worried I’ll get some grief but have flown a lot til now and no probs not even a letter needed. In fact some airlines you don’t need a letter til 36eeeks when you can fly at their discretion. Fingers crossed.

@decaf no mat allowance news, no payslips, no acknowledgement no nothing. Another thing to sort. FFS.

kyles101 · 15/07/2019 21:23

@BBell2 try a silver toner

@Megan2018 shit day. Bless you. I'm stressed for you. Can dh help with any of this?

I got the growegg too @KnobJockey !

So, appointments today diabetes team really happy - told to continue doing what I'm doing (opposite of nutritionists advice FYI - diabetes nurse looked very smug about that) and they only want to see me if I'm in to see he consultant anyway - did warn me will get tough over next few weeks and call if I notice numbers going up - fab and sensible.

Saw dr: "so we'll scan you at 35 weeks, 38 weeks then induce at 39 weeks" was her opening gambit. My reply was "no". Her jaw hit the floor but at least I got her attention. After too-ing and fro-ing we agreed that we wouldn't make those sorts of decisions today but actually you know, look at everything together at 38 weeks and make an informed decision then eg whether I need to have meds for diabetes, blood pressure - currently low - baby's movements etc etc.

I get that the baby is big - 95th centile BUT the bit I worked out today (that no one else has mentioned) is that the femur length and head circumference are also tracking on the 95th line too... so it's not like the weight is out of proportion surely? Dh is 6'3" - could it just not be a big baby?

I don't know but definitely something I'm going to be questioning next time I'm in.

In other news work is ridiculous.

IVEgottheDECAF · 15/07/2019 21:43

Well done for putting your foot down kyles

Anyone taking raspberry leaf tea? Just ordered some of the tablets

Moraxella i havent had my payslips back either but did atleast get the confirmation text

DustyDoorframes · 15/07/2019 21:57

Thanks @Stroan and @TheCraicDealer ! Support cycling shorts you say?? That could be the missing element which makes the rest work! I've several -tents- dresses which in non-pregnant life I wear with belts and look all oversized cinched in, which are seeing me right at the moment, but some are getting rather short... will check out dotty p too. I really don't want any more STUFF in my life but I think I'm going to have to bite the bullet a bit...
@kyles101 hah good response to the consultant!! I'm really lucky, all my care has been very much discussed and decided with me, it does happen. Argh re work. You are hitting all the "world vs pregnant women" roadblocks, it seems...
Apparently there isn't much evidence to support raspberry leaf tea. Dates have more evidence, but they don't make it sooner, just easier. Ho hum...
