If it's the current model they'll restock, surely? Or at least get you a replacement from iCandy. iCandy seem to sell the carrycot separately and it's on special offer for £125 atm so worst comes to the worst you could see if JL will refund you (in cash) an allowance for the damaged carrycot and buy it separately. It'll get sorted, but it's the small things that are always the straw that break the camel's back in these scenarios isn't it. Most pram companies seem to have pretty good customer service- a friend's husband was building their Bugaboo Fox and snapped a part in sheer frustration, she was raging at him but they're getting a new part sent out no questions asked.

Just back from seeing the in-laws at the weekend (Bank hol here) and we were discussing plans for them coming over post baby. The plan so far is to have them to stay two or so nights and then them do another two in a hotel, soon after. I get on with my MIL and she has excellent, almost too good, boundaries so hoping it'll be ok. She's had a shit twelve months with a brain aneurysm and badly broken wrist so I'm trying to make them as welcome as possible to give her a bit of a boost.

30w on Wednesday so better start realising making a detailed list is not quite the same as actually packing the hospital bag and start getting stuff sorted. I'm going to bring x3 newborn onesies and vests with me- even though I'm measuring big I think baby will be sub-8lb, unless she's a real anomaly for both sides of the family. The onesies I'm bringing are footless so any longer than anticipated legs can poke out the end! And if we're really in a fudge my DMum or DSis can bring some over.

Morning everyone. Again I’m several pages behind! Just done my best to catch up.

Hope you sort the peak issue Megan

And hope the Flybe mess gets sorted. How incredible rude of them as well!

My DP wants to have a day out in August around the second weekend. Technically due 28.8.19 so I’m thinking that should be ok. It’s one day after all but if he goes there’s very little chance I’ll be able to contact him between 7am to 6pm. It should be fine though shouldn’t it??

Pram issue Megan. No idea why my phone changed that to peak!

@easterbuns1 you do deserve support (from your family and from healthcare), even though it's hard to ask for it! Feeling low in pregnancy can make it more likely you get PND, so it's really worth flagging. Hard to stand up for what you need when you are feeling down though!! It's a catch 22!
@mmmmbopp Best plan for slings/carriers is a sling library once the baby is here. It's something you (and the baby) wear, so it needs trying out to see if it's right for you. A stretchy wrap like a moby, or a sewn stretchy like a close caboo will tide you over to start with, and are by far the snuggliest for newborns anyway.

IVEgottheDECAF · 15/07/2019 09:16

Karigan my dp is going out for the day 12 days before EDD. He will be about 2/3 hours away and contactable for most of it so i am thinking why not

Florencenotflo · 15/07/2019 09:18

@mmmmbopp see if you have a sling library near by. Some let you try them for a small fee. My local one had closed when I had Dd so bought myself an AMA wrap which I loved. DH preferred the look of a more structured (read - manly 😒) sling so bought a stokee one. I loved my wrap sling and have bought another similar design but in a bamboo fabric as it's likely baby will arrive mid August, it's meant to be more breathable. The one I had for Dd is quite a thick material.

IVEgottheDECAF · 15/07/2019 09:18

Has anyone any experience with either the Lascal Mini or Maxi boards? I started a thread on MN a while ago but didnt get much back and what i did get was very mixed.

Florencenotflo · 15/07/2019 09:20

Is this your first @Karigan195 I'd be fine with him going but I'd want a plan b for contacting him. That's a long time if you did need him, that you can't get hold of him.

boodles101 · 15/07/2019 09:23

I had very little sleep last night and feeling very sarcastic and snappy today now. Getting fed up of people telling me I'm getting bigger. Well yeah, that is supposed to happen in pregnancy!
And the constant stream of people asking me how long I've got left to go, obviously expecting me to say a week or something, and then being shocked when I say about 6 weeks. It's very similar to when everyone starts texting you on your due date saying any news yet?!!

IVEgottheDECAF · 15/07/2019 09:33

Boodles i think i would start being a knob. Tell them you had the babies / arent pregnant it was a mistake / are due in 7 months. Even better ask when they are due.

Megan2018 · 15/07/2019 09:46

I’d think it’d be ok @Karigan195
DH is field based in his job and covers up to 350 miles a day, he can be up to 3hrs away at any time and will be right up to when baby comes. He’ll be contactable but not always easily as often has no signal.

GivenchyDahhling · 15/07/2019 10:00

Just wanted to share my Amazon Prime buys - I got the Maxi Cosi Cabriofix for £86 (from £139) and the Maxi Cosi Family Fix Isofix for £96 (from £179). Since they were the exact ones I wanted am absolutely delighted. Also got the Bugaboo Cameleon Maxi Cosi adapters (not reduced), and an Amazon Fire Stick for when my mat leave starts on Friday!

They have a really good price on all the Pregnacare except the regular one, so might go back later and get the breastfeeding one. Also stuff like huge boxes of water wipes etc

@mmmmbopp I got the BabyBjörn Mini Carrier, it’s so soft and actually almost stylish looking! I probably won’t use it beyond the first six-nine months so perfect for me but no good if you want something that lasts until the baby is a bit older

IVEgottheDECAF · 15/07/2019 10:02

givenchy that is the carrier i am looking at! Not aiming to use one past 6m either (just need to cover period of time when dc4 may need to go in his buggy!) Which one did you get?

GivenchyDahhling · 15/07/2019 10:04

@boodles101I read somewhere - maybe on here - that people are prone to saying that because the Hollywood image of “mum in labour” tends to be with more of a 6/7 month bump than full term. I was almost apologetic when telling people I had two months left to go but over the last couple of weeks I’ve stopped caring, I adore my (big haha) bump

GivenchyDahhling · 15/07/2019 10:07

@IVEgottheDECAF I got the grey version from John Lewis here although I think I probably could have got it cheaper - saw it in mothercare last week with maybe £5 knocked off this. Even my husband quite likes it - wonder if I can get him wearing it Grin

Stroan · 15/07/2019 10:17

There is nothing I need or can justify in Prime day. it's rubbish for my shopping habit.

@IVEgottheDECAF I had our pram services lately and the guy was recommending the lascal mini. He says everyone buys them and they are just as good as the bigger one. I'm not sure yet, DD can be lazy so it would be handy but she's nearly 4! She really shouldn't need one for long.

@boodles101 i've been asked twice this week if I'm overdue and once if it's twins. At least you can say yes to that one! It's not bothering me as much this time round, but I stopped leaving the house at about 38 weeks last time because it was upsetting and worrying me so much. And it's always women and normally women who have kids and should know better.

@thecraicdealer you sound like a lovely daughter in law and MIL sounds like a good one! Are they travelling far? We have the opposite problem with ours, and are slowly trying to get them to understand they can't come over when they decide (long story!).

@megan2018 hope you get sorted. John Lewis are pretty good, I'm sure they'll help.

IVEgottheDECAF · 15/07/2019 10:25

stroan dc4 is not 3 til october so i think we definitely need one, i would prefer the smaller one as i assume i may be less likely to bash my ankles up on it! The maxi is up to age 6 or something which i definitely would not be up for pushing my bloody 6 year old! Suppose i need to work out if a mini will fit my pram

DustyDoorframes · 15/07/2019 10:29

Bjorn don't have the best reputation for carriers- it's only quite recently they started supporting the baby's legs on the froggy position which protects their hips- despite years of knowing that's what is needed!, and very few of their carriers spread the baby's weight well across the mother's body.

boodles101 · 15/07/2019 10:35

decaf I think I will have to start being a knob. Maybe I'll just deny all knowledge of pregnancy and ask what they mean. I understand I look full term, but even my work colleagues don't bloody shut up and they know when I'm due!

Karigan195 · 15/07/2019 10:41

@Florencenotflo. Not my first but I’ve never had the whole going into labour experience. Last birth I trotted up to a standard midwife appointment to be told that my blood pressure was sky high. Next thing I knew I was having an emergency c section after failed induction. So the whole is this it and anticipation totally passed me by so I have no idea what it’s going to be like!

@Whisky2014 my DH did NCT with me first time under complete duress and was a PITA. Great during the birth but not so after. This pregnancy nothing, one conversation about names (unresolved) but has helped in clearing out which we really need. Last night im watching the hypnobirthing course and he comes in saying "that NCT woman never mentioned any of this, I've been listening this is much better" it was the science bit about cervix movement, I'm hoping it's the hook for him and hes also on his phone all the time - 4 minute videos are definately easier for him to digest! Theres some free stuff on YouTube from the positive birth company too.

BBell2 · 15/07/2019 11:20

@Megan2018 I had similar with my first, I met DH late and already had my house so I let it. Tenant moved out days b4 my EDD. She paid a company for a deep clean because of her cat and they did a terrible job, she left two boxes of stuff litered about. I was scrubbing surfaces in tears and had to ask the new couple (amazing lovely people!) To leave it a few hours before coming.
If you can, line up a cleaner,& inventory checker to do it for you - so worth it even if you normally manage yourself.

RonaldWeasley · 15/07/2019 11:27

Got a Positive Birth Company email today about a new postpartum course coming out soon, definitely considering it as a FTM not doing NCT.

Urgh @Lavellan sorry to hear about your shit flight experience, we are flying to New York for a whole freakin month tomorrow (mostly for work, must be god damn mad) and I'm dreading the flights. I've got my fit to fly and we're insured up to our arseholes but I'll be 34 weeks when we come back and I'm worried they're going to kick up a fuss and not let me back on the plane!

IVEgottheDECAF · 15/07/2019 11:36

Anyone had a maternity allowance payment yet?

Lavellan · 15/07/2019 11:46

Back home now but still no case. How they managed to lose it on a domestic flight I don't know. You expect flymaybe to be a bit shit but this has got to be their worst so far. I still really hope to get it back because I only have one pair of trousers, one bra, a couple of pairs of tights and very little else that fits me at home. Was washing and wearing the same few outfits and they all came with me to Jersey. :(
