Tentatively starting this as got a surprise bfp today, due date will be 29 Feb-2 March I think. Currently in shock and not even sure if we can go ahead but I hope we can as the news has made me happy, if scared!

Anyone else?

Hi! First post. Had a positive clearblue test this morning after trying for 3 months. First pregnancy at 34 - I thought it would take a bit longer! I'm very happy, worried about how it'll affect my work, and confirming with my GP tomorrow.

OnePotato2Potato · 08/07/2019 21:08

Hi @Rightnow1245 I’ve had hardly any pains since last night so I’m taking that as a good sign. Only get it when making a quick movement. I’ve got a GP appt for Friday where the GP will do a urine test to confirm and then I will be referred to the midwife. (I was surprised they still do urine tests to confirm as my previous surgery stopped doing them from what I remember.)

How are you feeling? Any symptoms coming up now?

threegreensheep · 08/07/2019 21:46

Hi, can I cautiously join? Got my BFP on Friday and had a couple of positive tests since. 😊 EDD 12th March, 2nd pregnancy. Told myself I'd be good and wait till missed period but couldn't help myself in the end!

blondie87 · 09/07/2019 07:33

Lots of new BFPs- congratulations!

@OnePotato2Potato glad to have found another expecting their third!

mangobutter · 09/07/2019 14:40

Welcome to the new joiners and congratulations!

I'm 6+2 and still no symptoms except sore boobs and lots of CM today. Guess I need to just be grateful right now! Had a scan yesterday which confirmed me being around 6 weeks and that there's definitely something there! 12 week scan booked for 20th August. Booking appt tomorrow which feels very early!

Rightnow1245 · 09/07/2019 16:12

Welcome to all the newbies 😊

OnePotato2Potato That’s good news 😊 I also have my appointment on Friday but they don’t do another test, they just take your word for it.
I’m feeling okay just very tired atm and having waves of Nausea but if I eat it goes away! Have you got any other symptoms??

threegreensheep EED buddies 😊😊 also this will be our #2.. I have a little boy what do you already have?

mangobutter I’m glad your scan went well! Glad you are all booked for you 12week scan! I hadn’t really worked out when mine will be and it will be around DS 2nd birthday.. might have to change it as we are thinking of going away.. guess I’ll just have to wait and see .

How is everyone today?

Abi58 · 09/07/2019 16:39

@OnePotato2Potato welcome and congratulations!
Try not to worry pain is normal (I have actual crampy twinges in my vagina no idea what that's about) but it's all normal as long as not too intense as the egg burrows in deeper and your uterus starts to stretch
Mine also is sharp when I move especially if I stretch while sat down
How are you feeling now?

@Littlelot welcome and congratulations! So glad it's worked so quickly for you!
When is your scan?

@sam2012 welcome and congratulations! Wow you are definitely going to be a source of wisdom ☺️ how are you feeling compared to your previous pregnancies?

@satsumasaturday ahhh I know the oily skin is driving me nuts too! I'm always so shiny I'm surprised people haven't commented and also totally broke out in spots, normal and big under the skin ones ... apparently my pregnancy glow is grease 😩
Awww I've never had beef jerky! I didn't think I had any craving but everything cinnamon I see I want 🙈

@Rightnow1245 I'm bloated too if I wear a tight top I could probably pass for being 6 months 😂
I'll post a pic later if people promise not to laugh 😂

@Pikachu1 sorry you're having a rough time how are you feeling today? I booked mine last week they booked me in for 8 weeks ish so if you book ASAP you'll get a better pick of times ☺️

@anotherexhaustedpigeon are you able to control the faint feeling at all do you pass out? What do you measure your heart rate on?

@Lozzlepop welcome and congratulations! Sorry for your loss 💕 have you Ben sick or just feeling it? I'm getting it in waves so far 🤢 also what a lovely surprise for his birthday!

@Elliedh welcome and congratulations! What makes you worry about it affecting your work?

@threegreensheep welcome and congratulations!

@mangobutter they are definitely symptoms though and some don't get many or they kick in a little later. Good luck at your app tomorrow! How far were you at the scan and what could you see? (Not meaning to pry but I've booked one for when I'll be 6+4 next week and hoping to see something to reassure us before telling parents next weekend 🤞🏻☺️)

Abi58 · 09/07/2019 16:40

Sorry for the huge message there was quite a bit to catch up on sort if I missed anything 🙈

@Rightnow1245 I'm getting waves of nausea, bloated and oily skin. Today at lunch I was really nauseous and went and bent over the toilet but nothing and felt really faint but it passed after I forced myself to eat my lunch lol.

How are you?

blondie87 · 09/07/2019 16:56

The oily skin struggle is real @Abi58!

Abi58 · 09/07/2019 17:52

@blondie87 it really is 😩

mangobutter · 09/07/2019 18:19

@Abi58 it was yesterday and I'd have been 6+2 by my very vague calculations, 6+3 today. Couldn't see a huge deal but she was able to see the sac, it was really just a little blob! Actually had the scan at a Marie Stopes centre as we still weren't sure whether we were going to continue or not which I didn't want to talk about on here as I know it might be sensitive. But having seen it, and talked to my dad today who reassured me he'll support us if we're ever threatened with homelessness (!) we're now definitely on! Just have to hope after all that it's a sticky bean!

My booking appt last time was around 9 weeks but 6 weeks this time, I guess I should be impressed they're so organized lol.

AwkwardPaws27 · 09/07/2019 18:41

Any recommendations for early viability scanning private places in London / Essex?
I've got a place on a grad scheme but will be declining/deferring and staying at my current place of work if this pregnancy works out.
I'm worried it won't be viable* but if I have to wait until 12 weeks for a scan it'll be too late as I'll have to have declined by then...

*I've convinced myself it will all go wrong - (diagnosed) anxiety.

AuroraMJ · 09/07/2019 18:45

@AwkwardPaws27 Try Peek A Baby as they have a base in London. They'll only do it from 6 weeks though.

Abi58 · 09/07/2019 19:11

@mangobutter aw that's amazing that you could see a blob! It's so tiny I'm not expecting a baby shape just want to see something so I now I'm not imagining it and hoping 🤞🏻 to see a heartbeat

Aw I completely get what you mean about it can be quite sensitive but at the same time you also have to do what's right and if you were unsure about your living situation and money like that it's understandable, not just from your point of view but also what you can give the baby. Amazing news though that you're dad is happy to support you! ☺️ I bet you're chuffed!

Yeah that is super organised!

@AwkwardPaws27 try googling baby scan and your area ? I'm going to mothercare some and I'm sure there's on in London?
🤞🏻 for you. Can I ask why that would mean having to decline the offer? If it is something you could do can't you accept it ? They can't fire you for being pregnant and you don't have to tell them legally until later (not sure the exact time)

AwkwardPaws27 · 09/07/2019 19:18

@Abi58 I wouldn't get any maternity pay as you have to be there a certain amount of time

Abi58 · 09/07/2019 19:26

@AwkwardPaws27 ahh that makes sense, didn't mean to pry or question just thought if it's what you wanted to do it's a shame you could have both. Maybe speak to them and see if they will defer you a year due to the circumstances?

sam2012 · 09/07/2019 19:40

@Abi58 thankyou. I'm still feeling mixed feelings at the moment, not really sunk in, wasn't planned I'm 41 tomorrow 😢. Not really had any niggles or nausea but saying that with my daughter I wasn't aware I was pregnant until 5 months gone. Hope you are doing well x

mangobutter · 09/07/2019 19:55

@sam2012 not planned here either and I sympathise - the worst, most emotional two weeks of my life I think! Getting my head round it now. Hope you do too x

Cornettos · 09/07/2019 20:12

Hi everyone!

Can I join?

Bfp on Saturday after ttc for 5 months. First time pregnant so really hoping it all goes ok, don’t know what to expect!

What apps are everyone using to keep track of the little pea?

sam2012 · 09/07/2019 20:25

@mangobutter aww bless you. Have you any other children? I have 4 so no 5 is alot to get my head round x

MunchyMunchkin · 09/07/2019 20:31

@Cornettos I’m using ovia.

AwkwardPaws27 · 09/07/2019 20:49

@Abi58 yeah I'm going to ask - but I'd need two years deferral really as I'm not sure I'd be ready for a full-time high-pressure scheme + studying for an accountancy qualification with a 5-6 month old baby. I already feel like a poor candidate compared to the freshfaced 21 year olds, let alone after sleep deprivation 😂

mangobutter · 09/07/2019 21:26

@sam2012 I can't even imagine!!! I only have one other who's 3 Smile

Welcome and congrats @Cornettos. I've downloaded the BabyCentre one so far which is I think what I used last time.

Ginandgingers92 · 09/07/2019 21:27

I'm using Pregnancy+, I used it last time and really liked it :)

mangobutter · 09/07/2019 21:30

Oh and to those worrying, twinges and random pains are normal, but anything intense and continuous you should get checked out I think. Also, I've noticed the initial bloating seems to be wearing off a bit at nearly 6.5 weeks so that's hopeful!

I definitely felt things more intensely the first time round at this stage, so either my body is used to it now, I'm already terminally sleep deprived (3.5yo ds has only just started sleeping through and it's not consistent yet) or I'm fitter/healthier this time... or a combination of all three! I walk over 6 miles to work and so far I haven't felt any difference, if anything I've been less tired than usual. Long may that last!!!

Boobs definitely feeling more sore now and feeding Ds is getting a bit more painful - hoping that won't last much beyond the first trimester as I don't really want to stop yet!
