Tentatively starting this as got a surprise bfp today, due date will be 29 Feb-2 March I think. Currently in shock and not even sure if we can go ahead but I hope we can as the news has made me happy, if scared!

Anyone else?

@Loti92 Thank you lovely.
@RoRosmama Thank you v much, I hope you feel the same on Saturday 😘

Kimberlily · 18/07/2019 20:59

@Rightnow1245 Sorry my brain is mush just now. Meant to reply about NHS scan.... that's what I had today. They have actually been excellent in getting me in early. 💕

Abi58 · 18/07/2019 22:57

@Kimberlily congratulations!!! I had mine Tuesday it's the best feeling isn't it 🥰

Not had my hair dyed but I've been meaning to for ages please don't say I'll have to leave it til late March/April?? 🙈

Oh wow that's a really early one for the nhs, Assuming you'll still get the usual 12 week?

@RoRosmama your scan is so close now! So excited for you!!

@Loti92 it's strange isn't it! I think as mine looked so different I was holding out that maybe it's hiding in front/behind so tricked us at the scan 😂😂 ok I'm definitely being ridiculous...don't exactly want or not want twins just had such a strong inkling there would be lol!

@Rightnow1245 I'm still working hoping it gets easier 🙈 or at least I just get used to it. The nausea is horrid but was expected it's this dizziness and spinning feeling that's knocking me, not to mention it makes the nausea feel worse 🤢

If they want to keep an eye on you that's good! I have a condition that's monitored and I've got extra apps but they aren't seeing me til 10 weeks.

@Bigpea don't worry you will be referred to a midwife (most you don't even need to see the dr) and theyll want to see you around 8 weeks and will book the 12 week scan at that app so you won't be delaying anything. And congratulations ☺️

Abi58 · 18/07/2019 23:03

Just found out after knowing my mum had bad morning sickness that it was actually hyperemesis gravidarum

🤞🏻it's not inherited 🤢😭🙈

AMos16 · 19/07/2019 07:11

Morning All, and happy Friday

I am also worried about weight gain, I am literally eating everything I can get my hands on. I have no food aversions (yet) so everything edible is game on. I've gained 1.5 kilos and I've read its normal to gain between 1-2 kilos in T1.

My Scan is on Tuesday and I'm so nervous. I just want to be able to see what's going on and know that everything is normal. Its going to be a long weekend

Fierwena · 19/07/2019 07:54

Heya all! Im really new to this so dont know all the lingo yet but im 6 weeks today, been getting mild tummy cramps since day one but ive been told this is normal, and I've got heartburn, no sickness yet thank goodness, this will be my first and it was quite the suprise as we where told it would take at least a year to conceive and we only tried for a few months, any remedies for the heartburn as i really hate gaviscon? Do you all recommend paying for a scan before the nhs one? Xx

Fierwena · 19/07/2019 07:56

Forgot to mention im a gas engineer for the grid so working in a van and still on the tools at the moment! This is going to get interesting!

Frillyfarmer · 19/07/2019 08:08

@AMos16 I was worried about weight gain because I put a lot of weight on in my first pregnancy by being greedy and it was awful to get off afterwards. This time I'm going to stick at slimming world to really keep an eye on what I'm eating. I've figured it won't have an adverse affect on my pregnancy as the free foods are the best kind anyway, in terms of nutrition. I haven't told my consultant yet, will see how Tuesdays scan goes first!

@Abi58 @Loti92 I've also convinced myself we're having twins this time. It's either that or a girl, I think just because this pregnancy has been SO different to my first, and because I got such a strong early BFP. We will see!

Not at work today and joyously my DS hasn't woken up yet either!

Pikachu1 · 19/07/2019 08:12

@Fierwena
Congratulations! Personally I wouldn't pay for a private scan and would just wait for the NHS one, especially as you say you conceived quite quickly and don't mention any previous miscarriages. I got an early scan on the NHS as I have miscarried before and had had a little spotting but luckily everything was fine. Saying that though, it was lovely to see baby and that everything was going ok.

If you get any spotting and are worried (don't be though as spotting is very common and totally normal) and you think an early scan will put your mind at rest (and you can afford it - I know I couldn't!) then by all means pay for one - though in that scenario it may be worth trying your GP first to see if they will refer you to EPAU (early pregnancy assessment unit).

I hope this is of some help 🙂

Fierwena · 19/07/2019 08:21

@Pikachu1 thanks for the info, i will wait for now until i see my midwife at my appointment on 13th of August, unless anything changes, i was going to save my money for a 4d scan later on! Fingers and toes are crossed and im holding my breath at the moment that everything goes well.

MunchyMunchkin · 19/07/2019 08:27

@fierwena I can’t stand Gaviscon or rennies and get really awful pregnancy reflux so I go straight to the hard stuff. Gp can prescribe omeprazole or ranitidine for you.
You can also get the smaller tablets of ranitidine over the counter.

Fierwena · 19/07/2019 08:29

@munchymunchkin thanks i will get down the chemist this morning to get some!

SweetChillis · 19/07/2019 08:34

@Fierwena This is my first pregnancy and I had a private scan yesterday at 6+4 weeks. I was getting cramping and odd twinges mainly on my left side which worried me a little. So it was a peace of mind thing for me. Scan all looked normal and the twinges on the left were because I ovulated on the left and was still releasing hormones. I saw a teeny tiny heartbeat too which made this feel very real Smile

Also, is anyone else getting poor quality sleep?

I have not had a good nights sleep for the last few weeks, and ive read this is normal in early pregnancy.

Are you guys doing anything or taking natural sleep aids like melatonin or valarian?

Pikachu1 · 19/07/2019 09:19

@Loti92
I would say it's just a natural manifestation of your worries because that's how it happened last time and it's very understandable. It's natural it would play on your mind and whatever's playing on your mind will likely present itself in your dreams. Try your best not to worry 🙂

Rumi1 · 19/07/2019 10:06

@AMos16 I'm the same with sleep :-( I've started to have camomile baths

I used to take valerian for anxiety and sleep but did realise I could take it in pregnancy

I'm typically waking up at 4am ish , going back to sleep at 5:30 then waking up at 6:30 to prep for work and the school run

I'm exhausted by 5pm

But it's the start of the summer holidays and I'm off for 3 weeks yay ....

I'm currently sat at my local hospital waiting for my appointment

caffeinebuzz · 19/07/2019 10:11

@AMos16 Also struggling massively with sleep. It's taking me ages to drop off in the first place and then I'm restless most of the night so not waking up feeling at all rested.

Just been to the GP and got my early scan referral and anti-sickness meds. Am hoping they'll kick in quickly!

AMos16 · 19/07/2019 10:12

@Rumi1 - I have read melatonin is safe, but I currently don't take anything. I will ask my midwife next week.

I wake up at 330am most mornings and then drift in and out of sleep until 630 when my alarm goes off, and by 11 am I want to take a nap! I'm not going to make it to 4 pm today.

Hope the appointment goes well.

Rumi1 · 19/07/2019 11:24

Well my appointment was strange ... apparently I'm measuring 5+ weeks with slow FH rate ... so there is a lot of uncertainty

Got my bfp on 16th June which is almost a month ago 😳so I've been asked to come back in 1 week...

There 2 possibilities:
1- I ovulated late and therefore I'm truly only 5 weeks

2- I have some heart breaking news ahead

Either way it's a waiting game for me ... which is frustrating because u just want to get in with life either way

Good luck to you guys x

AMos16 · 19/07/2019 11:58

@Rumi1 - sorry to hear about your uncertainty, I can't imagine the frustration and worry.

Everything crossed for possibility 1 next week!

Abi58 · 19/07/2019 13:04

@Frillyfarmer who knows ☺️ I know it's unlikely I do but until the 12 week it will be in the back of my mind 🙈 just how diff my yolk sac looked made me wonder especially as I was convinced!

I've not got another to compare it to but I got my bfp at 9dpo and feel awful when I had beta hcg blood test the dr rang me and said it's rising very fast and I'm very pregnant 😂

Aw good that you've had a bit of time to chill ☺️

@Fierwena I had a private scan Tuesday (see pic further down the chat) it was a blob but we saw the heartbeat which made it real and after an early miscarriage the previous month and lots of aches and twinges it was peace of mind that all was as good as it could be. It's a personal thing if you feel it would make you feel a lot better /relaxed like I did I'd say it's definitely worth it!

@Loti92 I'd say it's probably been on your mind and so you've been thinking about it and then you had a dream about it, try not to worry ☺️

@Rumi1 so sorry to hear you're in limbo, keeping everything crossed for you that you ovulated later than you thought. Whatever the outcome we're here if you need to talk and make sure you take care of yourself 💕

Fierwena · 19/07/2019 13:37

Update: i have booked a private scan for the 10th of august ill be around 8+5 by then so im hoping it will put my mind to rest with these cramps etc, also im going away to greece on 11th of september so i want to have everything checked before then :)

barnyb · 19/07/2019 14:46

Hello all. Just had my scan and I'm 7 weeks and 1 day. Lovely little image of the baby and we are due 5th March. Is there anyone else on here due that day? X

Kimberlily · 19/07/2019 15:43

@barnyb Awwww it's lovely isn't it. I also had my scan yesterday. We are due the 4th March. How are you feeling?
