I did it (slightly adjusted the wording - is it OK?)!!! Now all we've got to do is a link from the old one to the new one - I'll leave that to somebody a bit more competent!

By the way, I just go laalalaalalaaa when you guys talk about epidurals/pain relief etc. I really didn't enjoy having one when I had DS but I had to as they had put me on a drip and all sorts and I had lots of complications. Ended up with even more severe migraines for years afterwards too. Didn't have one with DD1 and much preferred the whole experience. If I can get away with it this time, I'm going to try and avoid having one (obviously can't predict how things will go!). Gas & Air me up all the way!!!

Sorry to those of you who've had scares! But glad all is well.

Kinki like you i've been hoping this one will be early to make the school year so i can get back to work a year earlier! My DS is very forward and if this one's the same i'll be pulling my hair out if he can't go to school until he's 5!

Amyclaramum - sorry to hear you're stuck i hospital i hope the c-section goes ok and will be very jealous of you cuddling your baby!

Kerri - glad you're well i know what you mean about feeling ready! I feel ready but i know it's a lot easier to care for the baby when it's in there!

Emmalushka - i'm so excited that they think you'll be early! I wish they'd say that to me! Make the most of your resting time!

I'm very jealous of those of you with no stretchmarks!

Saw the midwife today! all is well baby head down and 3/5 engaged. I'm seeing the consultant in 2 weeks so midwife said don't need to see her too. So she said either 39/40 wks or she'll see me at home after the birth! It did feel weird.

Struggling to keep up with the thread so apologies if i've missed you! xx

kinki · 20/08/2007 16:39

amyclaramum we're all rooting for you, and thinking of you. Best of luck for the end of the week. I can't believe one of us is going to have a baby!

LoopyLouLisa · 20/08/2007 17:09

Good luck amyclaramum, please don't worry about having a cs, if you haven't had one before i promise you it's much less scary than your imagination allows you to believe.

i'm finding the school/sept baby issue very interesting. originally they wanted to do my cs on mon 3rd sept but i talked them into doing it on fri 31st aug instead, almost purely for the reason i want lo to be starting school a year after ds instead of 2. i'm glad kinki that i'm not completely alone. aside from being able to return to work a year earlier, which i am hoping to do, i thought it would be benefitial to my dc to be in the same school most of the time. i was in a different school to my sisters due to the age differences and longed to have at least one 'with me' in the playground. now i'm doubting my decision..

xx

Hello all, will write a quick post now then do a proper catch up later...

My DD1's birthday is next week - 28th August and she started school a week after her fourth birthday! I am biased but she is a little genius accademically, just hasn't got any common sense LOL! It hadn't dawned on me that there was a possibility of this one being in the same boat and I have to say I'll be relieved to get past early Sept so she can be one of the oldest in the class instead of the youngest (I'm due 22nd so should be OK!).

DH just got home and I fell into his arms in tears - I'm sooo tired and I'm in agony with my hips/lower back/pelvis. I wanted to get so much done today and I haven't got half of it done! [extremely frustrated icon] Oh well, I can always try again tomorrow!! DC's have been really helpful today with tidying up etc and DD1 even offered to hoover (aged nearly 9!). I've been suffering at night time for ages now so I totally empathise with you all - challenge show all sorts of cool gameshows in the night if that helps!?

amyclaramum, glad you can at least read the thread even if you can't post. Hope all goes well and can't wait to see your announcement! So lovely that your sister has been keeping us up to date!

Oh, as far as monitors go, DH is insisting we fork out a fortune on one of those video ones as he's a gadget freak - I've tried talking him around but he's having none of it! I'd be happy with a simple 'sound' one iykwim!!!

((hugs to all)) and I'll be back later xxx

anyone with leg/groin pain be careful as when I hurt my leg [remember?] the m/w insisted on checking re DVT.
when changing lo put a towel under them and use the excess to cover them quickly if you detect any movement [willy] plus it will catch a girls and absorb from underneath too.
Went to my dads 60th yesterday, even lo didn't want to go as I had a few contractions on the way..
Ds's are now away until school starts [5th] so peace and quiet, although we'll miss them.
I am getting to the point of 'right; out now!' with lo. Oh well.

MrsFish · 20/08/2007 17:36

Emj23 - I am due the 30th too, I have been frequenting both this and the October threads

amyclaramum - good luck for this week, how exciting you'll be the first

kyala · 20/08/2007 17:43

Afternoon all,
Managed to go into town today, after midwife had a good old prod and poke to find which way baby is lying (doesn't look breach, yay!) and think I've done myself a mischief, will soon find out when I wake up tomorrow, either be in just the same old pain or unable to move

My tummy's been feeling a bit iffy since I got on the bus home (hope it's not an indication of anything, although Jon would be happy to have baby come now!) Was even tempted to get off the bus at the hospital but thought I'd just look silly for going in and saying "my tummy feels iffy, can you just check me over!" They'd laugh me out of there quicker than you can think! LOL

So, am keeping an eye on tummy and hips at the moment now, and both are making me feel rubbish (after being told by, now, 3 people that I'm looking a bit trimmer/slimmer) and feeling rather Hippo-like
Oh well! Will just have to pamper myself tonight with new foot spa and get to bed early!

kinki: I don't keep wonderweb in the house, that's just cheating!! That and I always manage to burn his crappy polyester trousers LOL But I did tell him that I'm buying him some and he can do it himself next time

mrsfish: Ooh @ nice new facilities! Our's has just got itself a new birthing pool so am hoping, if I do have to go in, to be using that!! lmao @ oompa loompa
Don't be silly you're not going to sleep more than 2 hours at a time when the LO comes along!!

filbrit: Yup, I'm finding it harder and harder to sleep, with it taking me half an hour to turn over each time and the fact that I just cannot sleep until I have turned over, aswell as having to have a massively rolled up duvet at the bottom of the bed to keep my feet in the air, and I've tried using the bed mats recently too (which I am not getting on with as it's so darn hot that I'm either sticking to them or, with it under the sheet, am sticking to the sheet) and trying just an old towel is even worse as the towel gets all scrunched up every time I turn over It's just rubbish isn't it, so yes am definately feeling your pain there!
you not having stretch marks, although mine this time round aren't as dark as the first time, but are making the first lot come up a bit more too, so I look like a rather injured zebra!!

toadstool: LOL I was on the toilet when she pulled up so didn't have time to hide She didn't prod for too long but gave me a bit of a jolt when she looked for head in my pelvis I nearly bit my tongue!!
Ooh whereabouts are you? I've got a load of stuff that we are not going to use so you can have it if you want! Got a rather large Moses basket (my friend gave me a smaller one last week) and we've got a baby bath/top&tail unit too (only used it a couple of times with DD and don't see the point in it hanging around, going unused), we probably have plenty of other bits and pieces (have a strange travel basket type thing and the top half of a silver cross pram, whcih would do as a basket too, and loads of other bits that are sat in our spare room) so, if you're close or want a day out come on over LOL

REF: baby monitors, we only used our's a couple of times and it just got annoying in the end as it would pick uptiny sounds (and make them sound like a blooming thunderstorm in our front room LOL) I'm going to keep them for this one, just in case I get on better with it this time but got a feeling I probably wont need them for long! Also, with the one's that do all the extra's, HR monitor/LO's temp etc, I steered well clear as even looking at them made me totally paranoid! I knew I'd be up and down the stairs if the tiniest change happened!

Kelmcd: We got a sprung one for DD's cot just cos it lasts longer, and now we're going to use same cot for this LO so pretty glad we did

ECATLM: I forgot the blooming bread didn't I?! LOL Oh well might remember it tomorrow when I have to brave the market for fruits and veggies
LOL @ miserable old trout!!

mrsbumblebee: I still have to pack my bag. . . you reminded me, I will do it once I've posted this, and cleared the sewing room, and hoovered, and done the washing. . . . might do it tomorrow. . .
Mmmm home-made scones!! I've got some lovely home-made jam to go with those if you fancy sharing!! Just got to find someone with clotted cream now!!

kerri28: Well done you on completing chores etc, all in one week too! Do you fancy coming over and doing mine for me

motherhysteria: All the luck in the world to amyclaramum, hope she's not getting too bored, we'll have to Email her some daily sudoku or something LOL

Righty-ho, hope you all get some good sleep tonight, I'm off to get that sewing room sorted (yeah right!! )

MrsMar · 20/08/2007 17:44

wow how exciting amyclaramum - thanks for the update motherhysteria... good luck for cs this week, can't wait for our first sept (almost) baby! I hope everything goes well x

I'm not too bothered about the August thing, although as I said before, being a late summer baby I do think I struggled at school. dh is an August baby too, so can't really say anything against it, but I really wanted a Leo baby as we're both Leos (pathetic aren't I?) but then he would have been really early and I'm not sure I'd want that at all. BTW I loved being the baby of the class, I think I played on that right up until A levels!

Enjoy your mat leave Kerri...

We haven't unpacked our cot yet, so I don't know if it has a slatted base, will check, but hopefully kinki's right and the Angel care monitor will still work ok.

PLP sorry to hear you're in pain, I hope you get some relief soon.. .and how sweet are your dcs trying to help with the housework? Bless them! If dd1 is keen to do some vaccuming there's tons round here to do LOL!!

MrsMar · 20/08/2007 17:47

OMG kyala... what have you started with the scones thing?? I WANT ONE NOW!!!!! Yummy, enjoy!

kyala · 20/08/2007 17:53

Ooh missed a couple out, cos I was reading through and forgot to refresh once I'd got to the end LOL

PLP: Sorry to hear you've been in so much pain Don't worry about it, if your house looks a mess no-one's really going to care, and if they do ban them from the house that's what I do LOL

Also MW made appointment's for last couple of weeks, she's off on holiday and so for my 39 WK have got another mw, then she's made one for her for 41+3, just in case, and started talking about membrane sweep [totally grossedout emoticon]
Didn't have anything like this with DD and I went over by 10 days (according to their dates, my dates said 3 days OD LOL) So I told her this and she just con firmed that I obviously didn't have to have it done unless I really wanted it etc (I've been told it makes the whole labour expierience worse, any opinions on this?)

So, there you go, all me me me again LOL

MrsFish · 20/08/2007 17:55

Here are some pics of ds after the bronzer incident this morning

one
two
three

The pics don't quite show just how orange he was

MrsBumblebee · 20/08/2007 18:09

MrsFish, those pics are so sweet!

PLP, so sorry you're in pain and feeling low . Thinking of you.

Kyala, totally agree the membrane sweep thing sounds a bit grim. Hope I don't need it!

Amyclaramum - good luck!!!!!

MrsMar, I noticed your thread elsewhere on MN about cooking for the freezer before the birth. I'm planning to do that this week - did you have any other brainwaves about good stuff to cook? (Any ideas from others very welcome as well!!)

I've just scoffed my scone - very yum - even though hospital bag still only half packed. So naughty! What kind of moral example will I be setting to my firstborn child ? Plus I'm off to the cinema tonight (to see Bourne Ultimatum), so might have to have some popcorn as well... And to think I didn't have a sweet tooth until I got pregnant .

toadstool · 20/08/2007 18:48

Kyala, Thanks v much for your offer! I'm in Bristol and I'm pretty much housebound until October, so it's too difficult, but thank you!
Re. monitors, good advice here. I'd not thought about the movement ones - Has anyone else ever picked up another household on theirs? Once heard DD crying on ours, was struggling to wake up, and heard a woman's voice going 'There, there...' Spooky. Worse - my SIL heard her neighbours bitching about some mutual acquaintances on hers!
No sleep here either between 3 and 5.30 most mornings, LO always seems to be busy.

LoopyLouLisa · 20/08/2007 18:57

plp, lol you just reminded me of the early days with ds1. i slept/lived on the sofa for the first couple of weeks (closer to kitchen etc for making night feeds) and remember being driven insane by night tv. i didn't have cable then and only thing on was those silly quiz shows (the mint??). oh the joys! those days are coming again soon but at least i have more tv channels and on-demand tv this time

LoopyLouLisa · 20/08/2007 19:02

toadstool, i'm in bristol too and have a spare moses + baby bath if you want them?

dal21 · 20/08/2007 19:30

Hi

EmLouT - I do feel for you. Know how i felt when I had the bathroom being done, you just cannot switch off. But I think that it is definitely worth it - you'll be happy with the results.

KelmCD - this weather has me in bliss! Am so happy! Totally unfair I know, but dont care. Dont need lack of sleep due to heat to contend with on top of everything else.

Loopy - have you managed to open the resent attachment from Kinki (thanks kinki)

Kinki - LOL at your IL's. Maybe this time they will come into their own and spend the time you are in hospital cooking/ freezing food and making sure place is spotless for when you get home! Or do I live in cloud cuckoo land???

EmJ- defo treat yourself I say! You deserve to feel as nice as poss at the wedding. Also - mail me your details at picklesgalore at gmail dot com and I will send another mass mail out. am sure the ladies wont mind another mass mailing! . Mrs B - do the same also - will wait for both your details before posting back out. Anymore for anymore?

MrsM - i posted on breech watch, mine is still breech also.

Kyala - glad the MW wasnt too heavy handed and hope that the stomach settles soon.

Amyclaramum - thinking of you? Ohh, will she be the first for the sept thread??

PLP - hope you feel better after a good cry.

Hello to filbrit, mrsF, mmoomar, toadstool, TinkJon, Enormouschanges, emlushka, rin23, Kerri, Chatty, Fio, Twitmonster.

Phew - think that is everyone!!

Re. the strethmarks..maybe that should be included on the next title for the next thread when this runs out!

I had another doppler scan today - all blood flows fine. Obs still wants me to have heightened awareness of fetal movements, am back in on the 29th for another growth scan - so will see whats what then. Bub is still breech - I dont think it is turning!

Hope I havent missed anyone, but with this mammoth posting, I no doubt have!

dal21 · 20/08/2007 19:33

MrsF - very cute pics of LO!! He is ready to grace the pages of OK now along with other orange celebs!

EdieMcredie · 20/08/2007 19:44

MMooMar, Kinki, CC

Interesting what you say about the pain. Yes mine also feels like the skin. Do you think it is bruising from the baby kicking? I tend to have it worse in the evenings and it is very uncomfortable.

I too am having problems sleeping...

...Not long to go people...

emj23 · 20/08/2007 19:54

MrsFish, your DS is sooo cute! Great pictures to embarass him with when he's older too!

dal21, thanks very much, I have emailed you, hope it is okay -I wasn't sure what details I was meant to send apart from name on here and location, I hope it's alright.

dal21 · 20/08/2007 19:56

eMj - Sorry, may have helped to give you that detail too!
Mnet handle
Real name
Location
email address
Mobile

Obv some details are optional, but if you do give mobile, allows you to set up a text buddy so you can update on birth when getting online may be tough.

dal21 · 20/08/2007 20:03

Was going to say - J20 hasnt been on today and she normally comes on everyday.

J20 - hope everything is ok!

Hopeitwontbebig · 20/08/2007 20:12

MrsFish, brill pics of your little boy!

Amyclaramum - HOW EXCITING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GOOD LUCK! We'll all be thinking of you x x x

Kyala, I had a membrane sweep with DS2 and it wasn't too bad . Sorry to hear about your iffy tummy. You shouldn't worry about going in to hospital to be checked out, after all, that's what they're there for.

MrsBumbleBee, hope you enjoy the film tonight.

PLP, I really really sympathise with your pains, my sacrioiliac pain has kicked off today too, sometimes I hear it click, not good. It really is excruciating so big ((((((((hugs)))))))) to you. On the upside, my neck is loads better. Re Baby monitors, PLP I have tried 2 different tv monitors and they were both crap, LOADS of interference etc. I am going to get the BT digital one that everyone's been talking about on this thread. Boots sell it and it's on offer

Re August babies versus Sept babies, I thought I was pregnant a month before I got my BFP and DH said 'I hope you're not pregnant because that'll mean it will be an August baby', his birthday is 31st August, so I guess he knows what he's talking about.

I must post on Breech watch too, I'm sure LO is still breech, my tummy looks the same shape, and all the kicks are in exactly the same place.

Enjoy your Monday evening girls.
