I did it (slightly adjusted the wording - is it OK?)!!! Now all we've got to do is a link from the old one to the new one - I'll leave that to somebody a bit more competent!

By the way, I just go laalalaalalaaa when you guys talk about epidurals/pain relief etc. I really didn't enjoy having one when I had DS but I had to as they had put me on a drip and all sorts and I had lots of complications. Ended up with even more severe migraines for years afterwards too. Didn't have one with DD1 and much preferred the whole experience. If I can get away with it this time, I'm going to try and avoid having one (obviously can't predict how things will go!). Gas & Air me up all the way!!!

I wonder how Lou is getting on?!

Can't wait to hear the birth story.

Im on another thread with two friends who miscarried same time as me and one has just had her little baby-it's great!!

Hi everyone.

Chattyhan · 11/08/2007 20:20

I get leg cramps to and my calf muscles feel so tight most of the time now! Is it tonic water that's also good for cramps? Something to do with quinine? Can't remember if it was for cramps or something else!!!

Generally feeling crap at the moment. Kept crying yesterday and am getting really uncomfortable pains all around my pelvis, back and pubic bone. There not sharp pains just aches and twinges but i seriously thought i might go into labour last night? Walking is getting difficult and looking after DS is a nightmare. I have to take really small slow steps and sit down alot! I really hope i'm not going to be like this for 5 weeks! Anyway generally fed up and want this pregnancy to be over - i'm sick of being so physically challenged! The house is a mess and i really want a fairy godmother to come and blitz the place!

JemimaPuddleduck07 · 11/08/2007 21:23

Hi everyone, hope it's ok if I join back in. Haven't posted for ages but have been trying to keep up with everyone's news. Have had a quick look at the August thread and it's really made me realise that it's only next month and we will be going through the same....eeek! I wish I felt a bit more ready. My house is a total building site..

EmLouT · 11/08/2007 21:45

Hi All.

Just got back from holiday and although I haven't had time to catch up on all the threads, I thought I would say a quick hello to everyone.

Cornwall was lovely although the journey back was very uncomfortable - it's amazing how much I seem to have grown in the past two weeks.

A bit worrying though is the fact that the hospital phoned me while I was away and told me that I am carrying group B strep. They put me on antibiotics immediately and said that they would test again for it on Thursday this week to see if it had gone. I know it is quite a common issue in pregnancy but I am really worried about it - does anyone else have any experience of this? Should I insist on IV antibiotics when I go into labour even if this test comes back negative?

I hope everyone else is well. Sorry to come on and moan!

trinity1 · 11/08/2007 22:10

Hi all,

Just popping in to say good luck Lou, hope everything is ok with you and your little one.

Am 37 weeks today. DD#1 was 8lb 8oz at birth and am so much bigger this time round. Am bricking it! Went through birth plan with MW last week - asked for everything! (going for pethidine to start, epidural if I'm lucky - went from 1cm to 8cm dilated in one hour with DD so they couldn't give me it, so opted for gas and air instead which worked a charm!) Finding it very hard to get about so hope there's not much longer to go now.

Hope all you other mum's to be are feeling ok in the heat xxx

FlossALump · 11/08/2007 22:13

Perineal massage? I've had thrush for a month and (TMI ALERT!) i'm so sore and swollen down there I aint going near it! Really hope I manage to resolve it before labour. Thought I had managed to knock it on the head but am now on antibiotics for a chest infection. So iron tablets, antibiotics and creams - I feel a veritable OAP!

I too have been getting cramp, although only occaisionally. V V painful. Was told that eating half a packet of crisps before bed is a way of preventing... Not sure about it but another good excuse to stuff my face! Also finding I have pelvic/hip pain quite a lot now. Have slowed right down. Have lots to do tomorrow as having our house valued for loan on Monday. Hoping that if that all goes through ok (please!) I might be less stressed and things such as yeasts and bugs will be gone!

hayley2u · 12/08/2007 12:31

the things we go through hey. iv got my gluclose tolerance test tommorrow morning which means i have to fast from 9 tonight. so not looking forward to it(fasting or the test).
getting really nervous now the weeks are ticking down. i'm having a c sectio but scared incase i go into early labour, doubt it though.

my hospital bag is nearly all packed got some nighties from matalon yesterday and dressing gown and slippers from asda. baby s bag is all packed, which my little boy(5) is not impressed by. he s convinced i'm sending her away. he getting protective of his little sister already.

SeamonstEr · 12/08/2007 13:45

Hi all, glad we're all basically feeling the same way. I hope all is well with lou...

I'm gettting very little sleep, and when I do I get woken up by... leg cramps

my m/w is coming a week on tuesday for an check up and to go through my birth plan [lol] and will hopefully be bringing the birth pack with her.

I might change my mind though and go to hospital for a rest

SeamonstEr · 12/08/2007 13:46

oh, and I have heard that peppermint tea can help with wind after a c/section.

Hopeitwontbebig · 12/08/2007 14:13

Hi all

Do you think you might change your mind about a home birth Sea? I think you're very brave considering a home birth in the first place, I'm too scared!!

Hayley, I read your other thread about you wanting a c-section. Did you have much trouble in the end getting them to agree to it?

Floss, those antibiotics are probably making your thrush worse. It might be worth checking with your midwife first, but if it's safe in pregnancy you can wash down there with a very diluted solution of vinegar and water. Eat lots of live yogurt too. Hope it gets better soon.

EmLou, glad you had a good holiday in Cornwall.

JemimaPuddleDuck, welcome back!! Hope you're well! Believe me, you're not the only one with a house in a state!

Chattyhan, sorry you were a bit tearful yesterday. I had a bout earlier today, but won't bore you all with it. I keep on getting threats of leg cramps, but luckily it hasn't been full blown ! Ouch, v painful.

Sophus, how're you feeling today? Are those toes of yours recovering? Hope you're ok. Take it easy, if you can.

Purple (aka 'hobbles' ) how are you getting on with those crutches of yours. Not funny being on crutches is it. When are your kids back from their Dads? Mine came back yesterday. So nice to have them back.

I hope Lou is ok, no news from her yet.

Our kitchen is in!!!!!!!!! It looks FABULOUS! The granite company are coming tomorrow to template. Just a few niggly things need sorting, like the shocking plasterwork on the walls, looks awful when the undercupboard lights are on. Problem is, the kitchen's been painted, and I don't think they kept the tin and I can't remember what the paint was called .

We're off the the cinema in a minute to see the Simpsons Movie. Hope everyone is enjoying their Sunday.

hayley2u · 12/08/2007 15:07

HOPEITWONTBEBIG i actually pursuaded him quite easily, i was waiting for a real fight but he noted that i had some depression after ds1 and he said at the end of the day its up to me.
i went in with double sided a4 paper full of bullett points of why i wanted and thoght it was best for me and baby. i could not believe how lovely he was. i was so nervous though and had to psyc my self up for it.

MMooMar · 12/08/2007 15:17

Hi all ,
Hope everyone is well.

Lou ,sorry I wasnt around to wish you well for yesterday but I hope all went well and bubba is fine.xxxxxx

Sophus,Massive hugs to you and your mum ,take care.

Sorry I havent been about ,have tried to catch up on most posts but there are so many.

Had some very bad news in the week ,my mum has been unwell for a bit now and eventually they have started doing tests and found cancer in a kidney and a vein. They are doing more tests to see if it has spread anywhere else next week.Feel totally useless at the minute and know I cant dwell too much on it as its not good for the LO.Trying to stay postive as we dont know the whole story,But its very hard when I have already lost one brother to throat cancer 4 years ago and 2 years ago my other brother also had cancer of the kidney but after an operation and treatment is now well.
Oh guys sorry to bring a downer to the thread.
This morning I think I have had a show too.Gobs of real thick jelly stuff on the loo paper....sorry TMI I know, but it wasnt the normal stuff iykwim.Bump has also dropped over the last couple of days too.Just hoping if it was a show,I have just lost it weeks early rather than days.
Still if bubba comes now I will have cooked this one for over a week longer than my last as I am 35+2.

Anyway stay well guys, will be around to see if Lou posts.
Love to all.

Nettee · 12/08/2007 15:28

Hi everyone been trying to catch up on posts but have missed alot recently. Hope to hear from Lou soon. I am also waking up with leg cramps - but more often from needing the loo. At least at the moment we can go straight back to sleep and don't have to settle the baby first. Oh the joys of maternity pads and pants it is all coming flooding back - remember feeling totally unwomanly for weeks after DS was born and like I was an invalid. Just have to keep looking at the lovely baby and knowing it is all worth while. This day next week I start maternity leave - can't wait.

my midwife is coming to do a birth plan the week after next too - very excited but also really hoping baby will be head down by then - has been breech the last two appointments. would be so nice to have a home birth but if it is not to be then at least there are other options these days.

feeling a bit more prepared on the old shopping front now thank goodness have bought some very cute newborn clothes - shame they only last a month

Nettee · 12/08/2007 15:30

MMooMar - sorry to hear your news about your mum - hope the tests show up some better news next week. xxx

Tinkjon · 12/08/2007 15:45

Hi all, sorry I haven't posted in ages - house is a building site so every spare minute has gone on painting etc., but I've been reading and hope you're all well (and enjoying those lovely night-time leg cramps!)

MMooMar, so sorry to hear about your mum Thinking of you.

Hayley, I read & posted on your other thread but just to say that I am going through exactly the same as you - scheduled for a C-section and dreading going into labour early. I'm really freaked out at the thought - every little twinge sets me off worrying! Especially lately as I seem to have what feels like period pain a lot of the time and have started getting loads of Braxton Hicks. Edie, are you still having period pains? It's a very dull ache, a constant pain, definitely not like a contraction - but still unnerving. Anyone else experienced this?

dal21 · 12/08/2007 16:14

Hi everyone

MooMar/ MrsFish - thanks for your details. have received those over the weekend.
Enormouschanges - feel free to get details over anytime (although am only using that email address for this so you will need to let me know and I will pick them up)

Moomar - also really sorry to hear about your mum. . dont really know what to say apart from from do let us know how she is coming on. Thoughts are with you and your family.

MrsF/ EmlouT - welcome back from hols!

Lou - thoughts are with you, first baby from the sept thread! how exciting!

HIWBB - great news about the kitchen!

Everyone else - sorry for not responding to individual posts. Sounds as though the aches and pains are starting to really kick in now. I am not feeling too bad - but defo get tired a lot easier than i did before and afternoon naps have started to feature a little!
It is beginning to sink in that really is not that long left to go. Saw lots of family this weekend at a wedding and the realisation that the baby will be with us soon has started to kick in! Veer between wild excitement and nerves too! Dont think i have any real idea of how much this baby is going to turn our lives upside down! Cannot wait though!

Also dreamt that I was asking DH if I could ask the obs at my appt this week what sex the baby is - am soooo dying to know it is unreal. Am convinced it is a boy!

Anyhows, hope everyone has had a lovely weekend, tonight should be cooler, so heres wishing to better nights sleep for us all!

MrsFish · 12/08/2007 16:19

I had period like pains last night, a really dull ache under the bump, seems ok today though. It has suddenly become very uncomfortable to do anything, have been ok up until the last couple of days, now my bump is uncomfortable all over

Pennypops · 12/08/2007 17:11

Hi everyone,

MMoorMar - I'm so sorry to hear your news. This must be a really difficult time especially with your suspected show. I hope with all my heart that the further tests bring better news.

Purple - I don't know if anyone else has responded like this and I'm really sorry because I don't want to sound panicky but if you have been seeing stars/glitter type effect it may be an idea to tell your midwife asap. It happenned to a girl at my NCT group and I know it can be a sign of pre eclampsia. I'm sure its nothing to worry about in your case but it wouldn't hurt to get it checked out. I hope I haven't over stepped the mark or caused any undue concern.

Lou - you have prob already got your lo in your arms. Has anyone heard any news???

In common w2ith a lot of you I am continuing to get little grumbles down there - bloody knackered as well which I am assuming is my body telling me to rest while it can so I'm taking its advice and napping lots!

MrsFish - glad to hear your holiday was at least resonable relaxing! It sounds really nice - Cornwall is the destination of choice at the mo I think. I was there for a wedding a few weeks ago and it was lovely.

Hope everyone enjoys the slightly cooler weather today - will check in again later to see if there is any news from Lou!

Love to all, xxxx

hayley2u · 12/08/2007 17:22

moo. i am so sorry to hear about your mum. my dad had kidney cancer going on 4 years ago. its absolutly terible thing for them and the family to go through, but he s here to tell the tale. so hope everything works out well. send u all best wishes.

TINKJON
iv been getting lots of period pains too. few bh 's too. and yer every little twinge i am panicking. . .
glad you feel same about the pains. apparantly they will give us an emergency c section if we do go into labour

i had to go to ireland last week as dp dad had heart attack, all is well now but i was so scared in case i was going to end up having baby there. i was glad to get home ha.
so fed up of getting rib ache it hurts soo much.

EmLouT · 12/08/2007 17:30

Hi all.

MMoorMar - I am so sorry to hear about your Mum. I don't really know what to say but I am thinking of you!

Hopeitwontbebig - I am very jealous of you that your kitchen is finished - mine has only really just been started and is still a shell with nothing in it - I have to get water from a make shift tap in the dining room and have nothing to cook on.

Am feeling a bit tearful too today. I am really struggling to sleep and am very worried about this Group B Strep and what it might do to the LO. Also, my sister just gave birth (about two hours ago) and I don't know why but that has left me feeling a bit funny. All is well with her - she has had a very big (9lb 7oz) boy which was delivered by C section as she was two weeks over due. Can't wait to meet him tomorrow.

Guess I will go and try to get some rest. Enjoy the cooler evening this evening.

MrsBumblebee · 12/08/2007 17:38

Hi everyone,
Just dropping in to catch up as I've been busy the last few days - sister, BIL and their two year old came to stay for a while, and I'm knackered!! It's funny, every time she (the toddler, not my sister ) did something cute, I thought 'wow I can't wait until LO is born', then every time she had a tantrum, I thought 'oh my god have we made a terrible mistake??!!'. Also getting a bit jittery because there's now nothing in my diary from now until 'due date'. Have spent the afternoon drawing up a list of all the things I've still got to do, and it looks horribly long. Off to Ikea tomorrow to get some more nursery furniture.

I hope everyone's doing ok. Best of luck to Lou, though she's probably out the other side by now. MMooMar, so sorry to hear about your mum. Thinking of you, and fingers crossed for her test.

Right, I'm off to the sofa. I've started getting some pelvic pains in the last couple of weeks - apparently a sign that the bones are starting to open up to let the baby through. I keep having visions of a snake dislocating its jaws to swallow a rabbit, only in reverse!!

Delicious cooking smells coming from next door - DH is being a marvel recently...

sophus · 12/08/2007 17:51

i think i am turning into my baby - all i do is eat, sleep, cry and go to the loo.

MooMar - I know exactly what you are going through. I have never been through so may conflicting emotions as i have since my Mum got ill. I just hope that for both of us and our families the LO's bring some happiness and joy. All i want to do is get my mum out of hospital before the baby is born.

I got woken up at 5am by Bert knocking over the wicker wastepaper basket in my bedroom climbing inside it and the other cat rolling her around my bedroom in it. She also managed to climb out the first floor bedroom window yesterday onto a bay windon ledge and shin down the drain pipe onto the front lawn.

i think the toddler years are going to be a walk in the park for me.

xxxx

canadianmum · 12/08/2007 19:03

Can't wait to hear from Lou, hope everything is OK and bubba is nice and big.

emlout - not sure about group B strep but I have had a sore throat and chesty cough and GP has tested me for it - no results yet. I think you should be fine if your next test comes back negative. If you are worried you could get them to do another test a week or so later???

mrsmar - read somewhere to take raspberry leaf tea from 34 weeks but all the various experts seem to disagree. I am doing 1 tablet a day until 36 weeks and then 2 per day. I am 35+1 today.

GP thinks my bubba is now head down, which would be great news. Not so sure but am having a scan in 8 days so will find out for certain then.

Went away last night without the DC's, it was such a nice break but is our last 'event' until the birth. Yikes

New buggy arrived on Thursday, had fun wheeling it round the living room - sad but true .

EnormousChangesAtTheLastMinute · 12/08/2007 21:02

MooMar and Sophus, sorry you're having such a rough time. An unwell parent is never an easy thing to cope with but you already have such a lot on your plates. Please do shout if there is anything you need that might be sorted online!

mrsbumblebee - i had that 'what have i done feeling' long after the birth of dd! i think (hope) it's perfectly normal! I'm used to the 'lifestyle' changes (ie the lack of one) now, honest.

I got some raspberry leaf tea (never thought of tablets, d'oh) but it's loose and doesn't look very appealing...and, if i'm honest, i'm slightly worried it'll encourage something to start that i'd rather happened in three weeks time!

the big question in the enormous household is should we try to pack dd and dog into car and go away for a couple of nights next week? is it worth the hassle? what if i go into labour in norfolk?! is a three hour drive going to be v uncomfortable? Or am i just being a wimp? we had planned to go to dh's dad's cottage but now he's using it and i had a rather hormonal reaction to the disappointment. ahem. so prob need to calm down before i make a decision. sulk sulk.

by the way - anyone else got just one swollen ankle/foot?! looks really really stoopid and ugly.

looking forward to hearing Lou's news! Sept baby#1!

emj23 · 12/08/2007 21:15

Hi all, I've been away for a week and have just finished skim-reading all the messages I missed. I hope you're all okay. Yes, whoever said it, it is bizarre to think that in just a few weeks it'll be some of us being mad enough to keep posting whilst in labour.

I got round to buying a few things for my hospital bag the other day, got some nice new pyjamas, extremely cheap knickers, that kind of thing. I don't really know when I'm supposed to have my bag ready to go. At least members of my family are better and have been buying lots of things for me like nappies and baby wipes, I haven't got anywhere near that organised yet.
