I did it (slightly adjusted the wording - is it OK?)!!! Now all we've got to do is a link from the old one to the new one - I'll leave that to somebody a bit more competent!

By the way, I just go laalalaalalaaa when you guys talk about epidurals/pain relief etc. I really didn't enjoy having one when I had DS but I had to as they had put me on a drip and all sorts and I had lots of complications. Ended up with even more severe migraines for years afterwards too. Didn't have one with DD1 and much preferred the whole experience. If I can get away with it this time, I'm going to try and avoid having one (obviously can't predict how things will go!). Gas & Air me up all the way!!!

Hi everyone. Mmoomar, sorry to hear about your mum, really hope everything will be ok.

Has anyone else been getting hip/joint pain at night? It wakes me up every hour, I feel as if I'm about 80! I guess it's because I've put on so much weight. Am a bit sensitive to it at the moment as when I visited my parents at the weekend my stepdad kept calling me podgy and said he had never seen me so fat. Charming!

Tinkjon · 12/08/2007 22:40

Hayley, I've also been told that I'll get a section if I'm early - but I'm still terrified that I'd get there and they'd say "sorry, there are several emergencies ahead of you so you'll have to do it naturally"! Although the midwife did also say that it would technically be an emergency if I was in labour (even though section is elective) so they'd make the other scheduled ones wait. The thing I'm most worried about - and I know this is going to sound really dumb - is that I really can't tolerate internals and with a scheduled C-section you don't have any. So I'm really scared that I'd go into labour early and then I'd have to be checked out... (I know you can refuse VEs but how can you conscientiously refuse if they say it's really important?) Urgh, I hate being such a wimp Hands up everyone who's never doing this pregnancy thing again...

kyala · 12/08/2007 22:50

PODGY? FREAKIN PODGY?!! Who does he think he is?!!! He should try carrying a baby and not put any freaking weight on!!
Besides he should meet me!! Podgy would not be the word!!!!

Haven't really had a chance to catch up with everyone, hope everyone's doing well, as you can tell my hormones are making me a bit frantic!!
Had 2 baby showers this weekend, well I say baby showers LOL
Had a couple of friends round y'day, that was lovely! All those baby bits, and nappies/nursing pads etc, it's great!
Then today my mum and another friend round, that was actually quite nice too (mum and I never got on while she was in this country LOL) So have had a lovely, if pretty full on weekend!

Now for the week ahead and DH tells me he's over £1300 overdrawn, just been paid too, wonderful!
I haven't told him we need to do the shopping yet either, so am fretting like crazy about that!! Told him we need to cut out paying for food and become Freegans now!! He thinks I'm joking too!!!

O well, it's now one month exactly until die date and we're both hoping it comes early LOL
He keeps saying he wants his holiday (It aint gunna be no holiday!! LOL)

DD has been, pretty much, an angel this weekend, mainly cos she's been the centre of attention LOL but it's all good!

Got to do the GBS test at some point this week too, that'll decide for me whether I'm going into hospital or not (nervous about that too, not nice to think about nasties in your fanjo )

Anywhoop, hope you guys are getting the gorgeous weather too, it was meant to rain today, it did for five minutes this morn but that was it! Yay!!
Is getting a bit too muggy though!

Righty, off for the night, mainly to bounce about in bed all night constantly trying to turn over and keep my legs elevated! (Anyone else's legs feel like their bones are weak as water? I've got to put them up on a folded duvet!!) And to, yet again, refuse love making to my Darling Hubby! (Bloomin SPD, I'm getting a bit angsty now )
Nighty night lady's, hope you all have a better night than I'm going too

FlossALump · 13/08/2007 07:49

Hello everyone.

MooMar, so sorry to hear about your mum. I too hope that the next lot of results bring some better news or at the very least a bit more clarity. Its the not knowing for me which I find really hard.

HIBB, I have my yoghurts already in! I've had the chest infection for getting on for two weeks now, went to GP's last week but have put off taking the antibiotics for as long as possible. I just felt so awful in the end I started taking them. I am feeling better now. Still hacking like a 60 a dayer but its clearing easier! Was horrible having lungs full of rubbish when they are already at reduced capacity!

Well our house is now really quite clean and I've managed to do a few things on my 'to do' list at the same time. Busy day today, house valuers this morning, DS's first introductory session at his new nursery this afternoon and midwifes coming to visit to discuss the home birth. Poor DP is in between two nights, he's going to have to get up when the valuer is here, then get up later to take DS to nursery. Hoping he might stay up to chat with the midwifes but it is a bit much to ask.

Does anyone else find with the braxton hicks that they are more noticeable when you are busy? Yesterday I was on the go all day for the first time since I finished working and the BH were much worse again.

I have my raspberry leaf tea (shall we shorten it to RLT?) which I'll start from weds when I'll be 36 weeks. I too am a bit reticent as I'm not really ready either! Still if I didn't take it and was still sat here at 42 weeks I'd be cursing myself. I believe it worked with DS anyhow.

Hope everyone has a good week! I'm off to do last bits of tidying!

MrsFish · 13/08/2007 08:34

Tinkjon - My hands up, I'm NEVER doing this again, two is enough for me

Tinkjon · 13/08/2007 08:47

Floss, yes, my BH's are worse when I'm busy (which is pretty much every second of the day, as the house is still concrete and plaster disaster area!)

dal21 · 13/08/2007 10:10

Morning all!

Jemima am with Kyala on this one and very seriously outraged on your behalf! how dare someone call a pregnant lady podgy! Some people honestly need to be shot!

There seem to be a fair few of us on the breech watch thread whose LO's have turned! Fingers and toes crossed, I find out tomorrow when I have a scan. I thought baby had turned since I feel hiccups really low down on the cervix. But then on sat night, I could feel the top of my bump and it was hard and round and really felt like a head, so will have to see.

Cannot believe am starting to think about RLT, perenium massage and hospital bag! The time is finally coming! Yikes!

I have a question - how much less frequent are your LO's moving? I hardly had any movement on sat night (normally baby really active when i lay down) and had a little panic. Do the movements become noticeably less frequent in your experiences?

EnormousChangesAtTheLastMinute · 13/08/2007 11:23

hi dal. i think they do start to move less after around 36 weeks BUT if you notice a real difference you should give midwives a ring and get it checked out. i did this last week and when they'd monitered me and found all well i asked if it was normal for baby to move less and maybe i should relax more about it but they said no, always go and get it checked, no matter how late in the preg.
all they do is moniter heart and give you a button to press every time baby moves for 20 mins. it is interesting as it also records bh. you get a little print out for your notes. so it doesn't take long.
trouble for me is it takes over an hour to get to hosp and then another hour+ to get back so it's quite a big deal when i have dd...but what can you do?
my babe has settled into a new routine now and of course always worth just sitting or lying down at home for a while and seeing if that makes a difference before ringing hosp. icy drink, cat stretches etc can give your lo some encouragment to wriggle!

MrsMar · 13/08/2007 11:35

Hello everyone...

I hope you all had a good weekend.

Sorry to hear everyone's getting cramps... I haven't been too bad so far (touch wood!) but I'll be filing the banana tip away for future use! Are the cramps you get in pregnancy the same as the ones we get normally? I do know that sometimes a salty snack can help with cramps... obviously not something to try if you've got high blood pressure, but anything's worth a try, I think that's where Floss' tip about a packet of crisps comes from, as they're so salty.

EmlouT - glad you had a good holiday, sorry to hear about the group B strep, I don't know anything about it really, but I'm sure someone on here will. Good luck!

toadstool - I've been trying to do the perineal massage for the past couple of weeks, I'm not sure I'm totally successful, I can't seem to do it according to the instructions I found on Babyworld, but my sister didn't do any of the massage, just put almond oil on every day and didn't tear with dd1, so hopefully that'll be enough. I hear you on the pain panics... I'm totally wimpish, everytime I've broken a bone or done something bad in the past I've been a total wimp. I'm going to discuss my birthplan with the mw next week and I'll raise it then... she's already booked me in for an appt with an anaesthetist as I've got a badly damaged disc. Hopefully that means they'll be kind and not make me beg for an epidural if I need it!

HIWBB - It's great your kitchen is pretty much finished... such a relief when those things are finally done isn't it? Hopefully the last jobs to be done will be finished quickly.

MMooMar - so sorry to hear about your mum, I hope the prognosis for her treatment is good. You poor thing having to go through something so awful at a time like this... It seems to be happening to so many people on here.

Sophus - LOL at you turning in to your baby! I hope your mum gets out of hospital soon, have the doctors given you any indication she might be able to?

Canadianmum - thanks for the raspberry leaf tea info, I'm going to get some on wednesday as I'm off that day, I'll start taking it straight away as I'll be 35 weeks. The only thing I'm a little concerned, can it prevent the baby turning? I only say that as some people have mentioned they can feel their uterus muscles contracting when they've drunk it/taken the tablets. As my baby's still breech, would that tightening stop him turning?

Jemimapuddleduck - I have hip pain at night, if I lie on one side for more than about ten minutes I get a real burning pain in my joint. I damaged my left hip joint years ago after a skiing accident, and it's the same pain I get when I lie on my left side, except it's now on both sides and it starts much quicker than before. Doesn't make for the most restful of nights I can tell you!! I can't believe your step dad was so cheeky... if it's any consolation everyone keeps telling me my bump is really small which is just as bad.. I'm paranoid my poor little fella isn't growing.

Dal - I'm not sure about movements, I'm still getting quite a few but they're much smaller iyswim, not kicks so much as wriggles. I'm sure that movements do slowdown towards the end though cos there's less room. I'm still not sure if mine has turned yet, I can still feel the hard lump out to my left side which the mw said was a foot, but I'm actually convinced is a bottom (cos it doesn't move much) and I'm still getting lots of movement really low down on my cervix, which is what I was getting last week when she said I was breech. I was at my cousins wedding this weekend and every woman who'd had a baby said to me "oooh he's really wrapped around you isn't he, I don't think he'll turn now" We'll see....

I'm now totally demob happy at work (just two more shifts after this one today) and I can't wait to finish... it took me an hour and a half to get ready to leave the house this morning and 15 minutes to walk from the car park (it's 5 mins away!) so I'm just desperate to be at home now. I've got all the books I'm going to read lined up... can't wait!!

Have a lovely day everyone, take care and ((((((((hugs)))))))) to anyone going through troubled times.

hayley2u · 13/08/2007 13:01

hi everyone. been to the hospital for gtt today. how disgudting is the stuff they giv you i really though i was gong to be sick. got home and wolved down some cereal and toast as was so hungry but that yacky drink keeps repeating on me. have to phone up at 3.30 to get my results.
¬
tinkjon. i asked the midwife again to se if they could book me in. she said she couldnt again but she gave me a rough date that i'll be in and assured me wont be too busy. she also said if i do go into labour i'll go down for an emergency c section. so at least i know. i dont want to go in to labour though as want my partner to have time to get back home, although if it happens it happens.

people are so insensitive when they call you fat. how god damn rude of them. my dad keeps making coments that i'm getting fat but he s like that i can ignore him. but when i went to a family wedding back in june two aunties came up saying "are you sure your not having twins" makes me so cross. especialy as they both knew id just lost one of my twins. so i was pretty upset. took me all courage to go out as well as felt fat and horrible.

no more pregnancys for me. i have been v hormonal and pyscotic (however you spell it). and cant wait to fel my self again. oh and to be able to have big long drink alcoholic and for my boyfriend to stay in with kids ha. plus would like to be able to see my fet again ha.

MrsMar · 13/08/2007 13:41

good luck with the gtt results this afternoon hayley!

SeamonstEr · 13/08/2007 13:46

Afternoon all!

I hope everyone is feeling alright today. My ds's are out today, which has meant dd and I have had awhole day to ourselves, just like old times lol. It has been so lovely, and she has been more relaxed as well.
They are back tonight, before going away for TWO WEEKS to my mums, which although I will miss them will be HEAVEN.
I had my pushchair last friday, and spent the day playing with it in the garden, putting the fleeces on, lying it back etc lol. DD knows where her seat is and points to the flat one saying baby and putting her doll there. So cute. If anyones out there atm hello, it seems to be a quiet day on mn.

FlossALump · 13/08/2007 14:04

I meant to say earlier - I had the stars/ glittery/ pretty lights thing a few weeks ago, just before I went to see the midwife. My BP was fine and urine clear and she says it can also be a sign of low blood pressure. Twas very pretty but a little disconcerting!

dal21 · 13/08/2007 14:13

Enormous/ mrs mars - thanks for the advice. I have an appt tomorrow, so will ask. I was told last before that I should go in anytime I feel concerned to be monitored, my problem was that I was at my folks - too far from my hospital and I didnt want to panic and go to the local hospital Bub kicked a little in the night so was fine. But think now I am getting to the later stages; if I have the same concern, will defo go in.

Hayley - good luck with your GTT results.

MrsM - great news on nearly finishing up work!! Bet you cannot wait. I am so relieved I am not still going in - dont know how I would have coped to be honest.

Thebigsea - cannot wait for all my nursery stuff to arrive now so that I can play with the pushchair too!! I chased the delivery up a few weeks ago and all is on track. Told them I didnt want it delivered before next week - but now all DIY is done and stuff is out the way, I want it all now! Impatient? Moi?

The niggles and aches have all gotten a lot better since I slowed down. So maybe we all need to take it a little easier!

Has anyone heard from Lou BTW?

Pennypops · 13/08/2007 14:59

Hi ladies,

Mrsmar enjoy your last few days at work - nothing too strenuous I hope! I've been off for nearly 2 weeks now and its bliss - makes such a difference being able to rest when you need to. I am napping for England! Actually, make that Europe.

Hayley - fingers crossed for good GTT results!

Canadianmum - it isn't just you playing with the pram/pushchair I promise you!!

As for people calling pregnant women podgy - cheeky b*ggers. I went to a wedding on Saturday and several people commented that I wasn't "that big". It might not sound like a big issue and in a way I think they were trying to be nice but I still felt a bit upset - its like there is a regulation size out there and if you don't fit it people feel they have a right to comment. I started worrying that my baby was small but had to tell myself not to be so silly and that if it was this would have been picked up on by now.

Anyway, have a nice day all! xxxxx

hayley2u · 13/08/2007 15:19

i got my pram when i was about 7 months.i cant wait to actually have a baby to put init.so exciting.
just been with my little boy to the park for a walk with my dads dog. though i could do with little exercise, but stopped on way back to buy candy floss and slushes so feeling guilty now, plus i' really tired.
thanks everyone wishing me luck i'm sure i'll be fine i'm going to phone about 15.40 /45 so i dont look like iv just been waiting round for the lol.

emj23 · 13/08/2007 15:54

Since I had my whinge a while ago about the horrible woman in the park making that nasty 'fat' commment about me, I've had several people tell me that I look like I've lost weight! Apparently since the bump is all out in front and neat-looking, the rest of me looks good! I've decided to believe those people instead.

hayley2u · 13/08/2007 17:29

god for you em.
i feel like a full blown up whale now ha.
My GTT results came back fine.
spent the aternoon lying on my couch feling exhausted.having a few little niggly pains down below and in groin, only mild though. and little bit of wettness. worst f all think i'm getting a cold not stopped sneezing all day.

hope everyone is good

sophus · 13/08/2007 17:41

woo-hoo!
My Ma comes home tomorrow. May only be fore a few weeks, or even a few days who knows but the important thing is she will get some time in her own surroundings. And if things go well she will be at home when i have the baby so they won't have to meet on a hospital ward. They have told us not to expect too much and that she will be back in hospital sooner rather than later but for the moment we're focusing on the good things.
xx

dal21 · 13/08/2007 17:43

Hayley/ Sophus - what great news for you both!

Sophus - that must be nice that your mum is back at home. Really happy for you!

Chattyhan · 13/08/2007 17:46

Hi all - feeling much better than i did at the end of the week! Had a nice afternoon/evening catching up with some old school friends without DS and i feel like i've been on holiday!

Still getting twinges in pelvis and having to move much more slowly but otherwise ok. I've got another growth scan tomorrow so i'll let you know!

Hayley - glad gtt was clear

MMooMar - sorry to hear about your mum hope the test results are more positive - as for the show! It was less than a week between show and birth for me last time!

Chattyhan · 13/08/2007 17:47

Sophus - i'm so pleased your mum is coming home i'm sure it will make such a difference xx

MrsMar · 13/08/2007 18:03

sophus - that's great news! really happy for you. I hope you get to spend as much time together as possible before she has to go back in!

emj23 · 13/08/2007 18:28

Great news Sophus and Hayley!

hayley2u · 13/08/2007 18:43

thank you everyone. i'm glad everything is good too, hopefully not too many more blood taking now, so fed up of getting pricked so horrible. my dp hates needles and think we get immune to them we have them so often.

chattyhan good luck , hope al is well with your scan tommorow and everything is fine for you.
sophus- thats great news about your mum hope everything is good and at least you can have some happy times and hopefully next time ya in hospital its for you to have baby x
