I did it (slightly adjusted the wording - is it OK?)!!! Now all we've got to do is a link from the old one to the new one - I'll leave that to somebody a bit more competent!

By the way, I just go laalalaalalaaa when you guys talk about epidurals/pain relief etc. I really didn't enjoy having one when I had DS but I had to as they had put me on a drip and all sorts and I had lots of complications. Ended up with even more severe migraines for years afterwards too. Didn't have one with DD1 and much preferred the whole experience. If I can get away with it this time, I'm going to try and avoid having one (obviously can't predict how things will go!). Gas & Air me up all the way!!!

Hello everyone,

Edie - I hope those pains stop soon, I get loads of them, about once a week I get a growth spurt and it aches like period pain. I'm getting it much more down the bottom of my bump now, which would make sense as the bottom of the uterus is the bit that grows and stretches at the end. I hope you're ok!

I must admit I'm slightly horrified at the pants and pads conversation (not in a scary way, just the thought of pads again... bleurgh, not since I was 13 have I used them!!)

I'm putting all this final shopping malarky until my mat leave starts... oh and I've been paid!! Seriously broke at the moment and even a Primark special on cheapo pants might put me over the edge!!!

Gotta go cos I'm at work, but will check in later, have a lovely sunny day everyone xxx

LoopyLouLisa · 10/08/2007 14:20

Hi Hayley I definately think you should ask at your gtt. Tell them some rubbish about having to arrange care for you at home after and that it's gonna be your mum doing it so she needs to let her work know what date she'll be needed from. Don't let what I just said scare you though as I was a single mum with ds and I coped absolutely fine at home with just my mum coming in daily for a couple of hours to help with the washing etc. Apparently in this area it's standard for 39wks but i'm gonna be 38+4. i gave them some lame excuse about childcare just so I could get this one born in time for the school year, but as it's only 3 days they weren't concerned. i heard someone mention (don't know if it's this thread or aug one) that they are not going in until 40wks. Definatley keep asking til you get an answer.

Edie, as I've said before I am very blonde in hair colour and thinking, and I didn't realise until late in my last pg the the pubic bone is actually 2 bones with cartilidge down the middle. Until i knew this I used to get very freaked out by the sensation of splitting in two in the weeks leading up to the birth. I found that possibly the most painful aspect of being pg.

Hope everyone else is well and keeping cool xx

hayley2u · 10/08/2007 15:12

lou031205 · 10/08/2007 18:27

Hi guys, just briefly stopping in. Went back to hospital today for scans & monitoring. All fairly stable, but want to induce me tomorrow. Got to go in at 09.00. Only issue is whether they will have a special care cot.

35+2 tomorrow, so hopefully not too much of an issue!

MrsMar · 10/08/2007 18:30

Good luck Lou!!!! I'm sure everything will be fine, and how exciting that you'll have our first baby in the Sept 07 club! Can't wait to hear back from you!

xx

Hopeitwontbebig · 10/08/2007 18:48

Hi all, sorry it's been a few days.

Edie I'm glad those pains settled down.

Can I just say thank you to everyone who has posted well wishes to DH and me . He's doing really well, went back to work too early, but there's no telling him. He's very tired. Fingers crossed no more surgeries for a while!

I had an antenatal check up today. Completely forgot that it was anti D day, had it in my arm this time, have to say, MUCH less painful than in bum. My blood pressure's up a tad and there was glucose in urine. I'm hoping I don't end up having another GTT too! Midwife thinks baby is still breech.

I have read everyone's posts, sorry - again - for not replying individually, I'm just grabbing this chance to touch base really.

Hope you're all well.

Hugs

Hopeitwontbebig · 10/08/2007 18:49

OMG lou, just read your post. Wishing you THE VERY BEST OF LUCK for tomorrow. Keep us informed if you can.

MrsFish · 10/08/2007 19:02

HELLO EVERYONE - I'm Home

Blimey, I have had a quick scan through a weeks posts but no chance of catching up individually

Well we had a fab time in Cornwall, I highly recommend the place we went to, very child friendly and a really nice place, great food and friendly staff, its called the Sands Resort - Porth, they do have a website. Had a few awful nights sleep though, a mixture of horrendous heartburn, a tickly cough and being far too hot. I had about two nights of barely 3 hours sleep and my cold has only just started to clear up so have been really tired, but it has been nice having DH around all day. The car journeys weren't too bad considering, it took us 5 hours back today.

I just want this baby out NOW, getting very fed up and uncomfortable and now we have this hot weather to contend with too. Oh well 7 weeks left to go, I'm hoping it will go quickly. LO is very active kicking me very often which is really uncomfortable, am also getting lots of BH's which isn't nice now baby is so big. I really can't imagine that my tummy can get any bigger, not sure if its bigger than last time as can't find my old diary where I wrote everything down it definitely seems lower down this time though.

Well thats all from me at the mo I think

Mrs Mar - I'm measuring 45 inches too at 33 weeks, and my LO has his head down

Chattyhan · 10/08/2007 19:27

Lou - wishing you well for tomorrow, i'm sure all will be fine and we'll all be very jealous of you holding your lo! Let us know how things go when you feel up to it! xx

HIWBB - glad things with you are looking up - fingers crossed you're the next one in hosp not DH!

MrsFish - glad you had a good holiday - nice to have you back

PurpleLostPrincess · 10/08/2007 19:37

Oh Lou, will be thinking of you tomorrow, lots of hugs to you!!!

HIWBB - Glad DH is doing well . I too had my anti-D today! DH came with me and had to go out of the room due to his needle phobia bless him! Really pleased he got to hear the heartbeat though. Apparently my bp is fine which is strange because I've been having funny visions of what I can only describe as glitter or shooting stars a few times today!? I have to say I'm relieved though because I was dreading it being high and having to go in to be monitored... I'm measuring a few cm's too big but mw isn't concerned as I'm going to the antenatal clinic at the hospital in a few weeks time (not sure why that's relevant!?). Also, lo is head down [phew icon!]

Managed to get some sleep last night (inbetween the hourly loo breaks!) but still felt knackered this morning - woke up in tears but couldn't tell you why!? I just want to get this nursery finished and all the clothes done and I'll be ready for lo to come...

Oh, got some maternity pads today - 99p in superdrug and they look OK...

MrsFish - glad to have you back! Sorry you're still suffering with the cold and hope you feel much better soon. Hope it didn't ruin the holiday completely? I've been getting lots of BH's too - mentioned it to the mw today but I think she was too busy filling in my notes for the Anti-D to listen!

Edie - glad things have calmed down on the bh front.

Still really missing the kids but enjoying the quiet while it lasts...

Love to all - have a great weekend!

Good luck for tomorrow Lou xx

PLP - The cold didn't ruin the holiday in any way, other than a cough the first few nights, but we still got out and did stuff.

HIWBB - Hope your DH can finally start to recover, fingers crossed for you both.

Dal - Have emailed you regarding the text/email buddy thing

FlossALump · 10/08/2007 21:16

Just wanted to say good luck lou. Hope it all goes well for you tomorrow. xx

EnormousChangesAtTheLastMinute · 10/08/2007 22:13

Good Luck for tomorrow Lou! Will be thinking of you!

HIWBB glad things are going well for you and dh.

and Edie good to hear things have settled down!

I saw consultant today and all seems well, baby is head down but not engaged - this is good as second baby and don't want her to be born just yet!

Not long to go now, I'll be 37 weeks on Sunday. gulp.

had the rottenest nights sleep last night. even mumsnet shut up shop by 0130 so i was forced to watch out of synch episodes of 'two pints of larger' and bits of news24 until 3-ish. Still, might as well get used to it! Did see lovely newborn at hospital today. So sweet. Couldn't help but feel a bit excited!

toadstool · 11/08/2007 10:54

Lou, good luck for today, thinking of you.xx

hayley2u · 11/08/2007 11:44

anyone else experiencing seriously painful cramps in legs.
i woke up at 5 am with cramps in both legs coming from front and back calves. too painful to stretch them either way. was horrible. in end managed to hobble to toilet and went. but oh the pain

toadstool · 11/08/2007 11:50

Try a glass of milk and a banana at bedtime - in fact, I find a banana in the evening works just as well - it seems to calm them down.

hayley2u · 11/08/2007 11:54

wow does that really work . i will go down and get some bananas today

PurpleLostPrincess · 11/08/2007 12:57

Yep - I've heard that the potassium in bananas helps to prevent leg cramps too so I try to have some every now and then. I'd eat more but they give me constipation which I already have so I don't want to add to it atm!

Poor you, I know exactly how you feel - feels like your leg has snapped in two and then its sore for a couple of days after too!

sophus · 11/08/2007 13:25

wow good luck to lou, let's hope we hear news soon.

i managed to open a door over my toes yesterday - ouch. And for some reason can't stop crying over anything. Have taken to my bed today, set off to hospital this morning to see mum but couldn't face the motorway so turned back and came home.
Am hoping a day's rest will sort me out and i will feel a bit more normal tomorrow. Just got too many aches and pains now.

xx

PurpleLostPrincess · 11/08/2007 13:29

(((((sophus)))))) Bless you, hope you get lots of rest xxxx

ccpink · 11/08/2007 15:02

sophus - day in bed is always a god option
Lou - good luck think I'm a bit late. Quite freaked that we are starting to 'birth'

potoroo · 11/08/2007 15:16

Haven't been on for a while

Hope everything goes really well Lou.

Is it just me or is anyone else swinging between being a bit panicy that we will have a baby soon vs in complete denial because I am far too busy and not prepared...

toadstool · 11/08/2007 16:06

Yeah, I'm busy stocking up on almond oil for perineal massage and worrying about raspberry leaf tea, on the one hand, and on the other thinking, 'stuff this, let's just get through to late August'.
Have a duvet day, Sophus, it's necessary.
I'm panicking over the pain relief issue big time. Now I'd like to believe that all those endorphins are going to come flooding into the body and help, but I've concluded after the past month that my pain threshold is either remarkably low, or I'm a total wimp. OK, it's that 'pain with a purpose' idea that's meant to be sustaining. Well, healing fracture pain has a purpose too, but I completely miss its nice side! Second issue: the hypnobirthing CD I have may well be rubbish because it has NOT helped with the leg pain at all and I've been listening to it and breathing like a whale nearly daily for a month (am sick of the woman's voice and little 'that's right' phrases too). Can't even get me to sleep... So I'm wondering... I had induction, then Entonox and epidural with DD. The Antenatal staff just screw up their faces and mutter 'You must be frustrated,' when I ask about that issue. I guess the natural birthing option is going to be jettisoned pdq!

sophus · 11/08/2007 16:11

i screamed and screamed when i hurt my toe yesterday. i'll be plumping for an epidural.
x

MrsFish · 11/08/2007 16:31

hayley - funnily enough I have just posted the same thin on the october thread about cramp I keep stretching whilst half asleep and giving myself agonising cramp in my legs, bloody hurts doesn't it?

I would try eating bananas more as I love them, but they give me really bad heartburn

Hope you feel better tomorrow Sophus. Sorry but lol about your toe, all I thought of was that quote by Bonny Langford when she was little ( I think it was her anyway...) I'll scream and scream and scream until I'm sick' I have a low pain threshold too, I'm deffo going straight for an epidural this time
