Realised we need another thread as the other one reached 1000!

Glad to hear scans went well today.

Who else is waiting for their harmony results now? I am hoping to get them in the next few days! But I suspect Friday at the earliest and probably next week Monday! I had the bloods taken for it Thursday morning.

Been out today looking at prams had demonstration on the silvercross, icandy and bugaboo as these are what we wanted to see.

Think we are going to go for the icandy peach 🍑, looks good and seems the easiest to fold down.
Has everyone else been looking or bought? If so what did you go for?

AuntieJuice · 18/08/2019 17:50

We pulled the trigger on a Mountain Buggy Swift today - haven't actually seen one in person but had a go with the Nano in John Lewis and have read (and been given in person) some good reviews. Also it's bright yellow, which makes me smile Grin

Jowd92 · 18/08/2019 17:58

@funnybunnyfluff I went for the icandy peach too as I have a 1 year old also and i found it lovely to push too also yes the folding down with 1 hand is bonus! I love it Smile

@NapsAndTea thank you!! It looks like I need to get cracking on the sales!
I’ve putting off buying stuff because before our 12 week scan I wasn’t convinced there was anything there and before the 20 week scan I was convinced something was wrong so put off buying anything until I was sure. But now I feel massively behind and wrote a huge list today lol!
It’s the prams/car seats/pushchairs/travel systems that are confusing me the most... do I get one that will last newborn to 3+? Do we buy all the car seat, pram, pushchair separately? How good are the travel systems with everything included? How do I know what’s best?
I know I need one that will be easy on rough terrain as I go running down footpaths with my dog and would like to keep that up with the baby, but the ones with three wheels and large wheels seem way more expensive than getting one of these travel systems!
@Jowd92 that pram looks good, is it one that you can add other bits too for when the baby is bigger?

Thanks all :)

Jowd92 · 18/08/2019 18:30

@ttc2019babyno1 yes you can have the 2 seats and also car seat on the frame also different combinations

Funnybunnyfluff · 18/08/2019 18:38

@TTc2019BabyNo1

I have only started looking/buying this week so don't panic.

We are going for the maxi cosi pebble plus car seat with icandy peach 🍑.

You can check to make sure car seats are compatible with different pushchair.

We did lots of googling and went into shops to ask people to show us that's the easiest way to under. Also to check how they fit in your car.

spannerintheneck · 18/08/2019 23:19

@Jowd92 we went with the peach too! Will be buying the maxi cosi cabriofix and base at some point to go with it.

I need to crack on with getting bits ready, I haven't bought a single bit of clothing yet so I'm feeling quite behind!

jpaws · 19/08/2019 06:52

I’ve gone for the babystyle Oyster 3 luxury travel system. It has the maxi cosi cabriofix car seat with it and I loved how nice it was to use and put down. You can also remove the back wheels for it to go in your car which is a bonus as my car doesn’t have a huge boot. I’ve also bought a Moses basket and stand as it was on offer and I’ve got a few pieces of clothing. Trying to spread things out so next month will be looking at getting MAM bottles etc as although I want to try BF I realise it’s best to be prepared in case that doesn’t happen.

starflake · 19/08/2019 08:43

@AuntieJuice that's what I got! Collected it yesterday and have it stored in my MiLs. Absolutely in love with it, small & compact enough for shops, one hand closing & will be great for walks around town, woods, hiking etc.

Funnybunnyfluff · 19/08/2019 09:23

@jpaws

I'm going for mam bottles also two friends with new borns said how great the bottles are. They both started on Tommee tippee and both changed to Mam.

Iv got my next to me crib got it brand new on eBay £45! Bargain

AuntieJuice · 19/08/2019 09:51

Ooh @starflake so glad you're happy with it! I can't wait to see it in the real world...

Have also got a next2me crib (Amazon Prime Day sale), and will use the free baby box for daytime naps. Haven't thought about bottles etc yet, that's my next research topic, good to have some wisdom from the thread.

peasando · 19/08/2019 10:17

One word of caution on bottles - it's good to be prepared but don't spend a fortune on them before the baby arrives. I bought some intending that I would express sometimes so my husband could share the feeding - in reality we never used them and I exclusively breastfed until he was on to sippee cups. I also have friends who bought bottles of one type but their babies couldn't get on with them so ended up having to buy loads of different ones. I would just buy a couple of bottles, ideally of different types, and once you see what works for your baby you can buy more.

December2019 · 19/08/2019 10:22

I love MAM bottles too, we tried dr browns ones, tommee tippee, avent and they all got blocked (not good at 3am) and mam ones can be sterilised in the microwave which is so handy if your visiting friends, my little man is still using the mam bottles now actually, he had a slight tongue tie when he was born and would really take to any other teat

December2019 · 19/08/2019 10:23

@Jowd92 that pram is gorgeous! I'm looking for one too as my little one will be 12 months when baby no2 arrives 😊

Jowd92 · 19/08/2019 10:49

Thank you I love it I cant wait to use it once my little boy arrives I put it all up to try my 1 year old in it he loved it but it's all back in the box and away for now I've also brought my moses basket and a few little bits like bibs and hats and some nappies I will be using the steriliser i already have my from my little man as it's like brand new I have also brought some nubby bottles anyone have any thoughts on these, with my son I used tommee tippee and mam bottles but he didnt take too well to the mam ones but loved his tommee tippee ones

spannerintheneck · 19/08/2019 12:39

So what does everyone usually do with buying bottles in advanced then? I bought a few last time with the hopes of exclusively breastfeeding, it didn't work out at all and it ended in a very late night trip to the supermarket to buy whatever could be found - I want to be more organised this time but definitely don't want to give up on bf too easily if I have bottles all ready to go

Funnybunnyfluff · 19/08/2019 16:23

I will just buy a couple of bottles as a back up. My first baby no idea what's I'll happen but I'd rather be prepared then not.

I'm definitely a just incase kind of girl lol. You should see my suit case for holidays 😂.

NapsAndTea · 19/08/2019 16:35

I got a few bottles with my steriliser and bottle maker (Tommy Tippee) but haven't got any extras. Will see what happens when he arrives!

Comps83 · 19/08/2019 17:48

Is anyone else finding the sleeping on your side thing really uncomfortable?

AuntieJuice · 19/08/2019 17:55

@Comps83 Yes me! And I'm confused because I'm a side sleeper normally, so in theory it's no different. But just feels like extra work to arrange myself and just knowing I can't lie on my back somehow means it's the only position I want to be in...

RLI1105 · 19/08/2019 18:09

@Comps83 I've recently been finding it okay! A few week ago I got myself really worked up because I'm a back/ front sleeper and just couldn't manage on my side but as my bump is now much bigger I just find myself that way. I spent £50 on a pregnancy which has had zero use 😱

Has anyone got anything in the Aldi baby event? I picked up some babygrows and vests today as I saw people on here saying how good they were. I didn't go mad though

jpaws · 19/08/2019 19:23

Yeah I was only planning on getting a few bottles just in case so there’s no last minute dash if BF doesn’t work.

@Funnybunnyfluff that sounds like a proper bargain! off to eBay now 😁

NapsAndTea · 19/08/2019 22:34

I'm visiting a friend and her little one is in one of their 1 tog sleepbags - they look really good!

Funnybunnyfluff · 20/08/2019 07:28

@NapsAndTea

Iv heard great things about them and two friends use them. I bought one yesterday from tkmax.

Tkmax have some great baby clothes, sleep bags etc. I was very impressed.

TTc2019BabyNo1 · 20/08/2019 08:11

@Comps83 YES!! I haven’t slept properly since I found out I was pregnant pretty much as i’ve been trying to train myself to sleep on my side - back sleeper normally.
We went on holiday a few weeks ago and I slept amazingly and it was the mattress, we cant afford a lovely mattress like in the hotel but we have, since then, bought a new memory foam mattress and I definitely don’t ache as much, it’s amazing how much it’s actually helped. I’m not waking in the night with sore hips and knees like I was. Could your mattress be the issue?
