Crikey. I'm mega-early, but did a Clearblue early detection test today and here I am! Hopefully some more folk will join me soon.
Second baby for me, already have DS who is 4. Feel like I've forgotten everything tho!
Eeeeeeek!

Can I join you?
Very early for me (positive test in last few days) but I’m keeping it quiet so need to talk somewhere!
This will be my second so I’m a little nervous about my daughters reaction 😂

ivyleaf4 · 12/06/2019 16:58

Welcome @principalvernon ! How old is your daughter? I have also got a daughter aged 3 Smile

PrincipalVernon · 12/06/2019 18:21

Thank you!
She’s 3 as well, the past few months she has been asking for a baby brother (not sister, seems against the idea of sister 😂) and has actually been telling people at nursery that she has a baby brother but reality could be very different haha , luckily we will have plenty of time to get her used to the idea

Hello all! I'm about 5 weeks now, first pregnancy and so feeling like I haven't a clue what I'm doing. What on earth did people do before the internet! 🙏
Getting some nausea, does anyone know if it gets worse through pregnancy or remain the same? Can just about cope with this... and any tips for coping with it?
Congrats to everyone else, and so sorry for those of you suffering in any way x

SuzieQ10 · 12/06/2019 21:50

Congratulations on your first!@cloudy01

What's everyone doing about tea / coffee? I just saw another thread about caffeine in pregnancy. I'm going to find it really hard to stop having tea.
Since BFP I have been having 1coffee and 2 v weak teas per day. Is it best to stop completely?
The 1 coffee really helps with my constipation 🙈

ECPCR2 · 12/06/2019 22:31

@SuzieQ10 my GP didn't advise cutting out completely, just limiting caffeine. There's a calculator for estimates on the Tommy's website - looks like what you're having isn't going to be much over the recommended amount (not sure how they measure strength to caffeine for tea) www.tommys.org/pregnancy-information/im-pregnant/nutrition-pregnancy/check-your-caffeine-intake-pregnancy

ronniemipperton · 13/06/2019 08:00

My boobs feel noticeably deflated and colder today... feeling very worried.

sulkysukey · 13/06/2019 09:24

Mine are definitely up and down Ronnie, how far along are you? I know the tests aren't quantitative so can't be relied upon, but have you tried POAS to see if the line's still strong?

tisonlymeagain · 13/06/2019 10:19

Ugh the nausea has proper kicked in. I feel gross. No actual sickness but can't bring myself to eat or drink.

Bilsonate · 13/06/2019 11:45

Hi all!
Congrats to everyone and the biggest love and hugs to the people who are out.
I'm as sick as a dog. Feel really ill until about 8/9pm. It's awful. I'm completely unroductive at work and I just want to curl up and sleep. I don't remember it being this bad before. The outcome is good, but pregnancy itself sucks!

Another one struggling! I had such an easy first pregnancy that the nausea is killing me!
Also not being sick but feeling horrendous, and the commute to work is becoming impossible Sad

PrincipalVernon · 13/06/2019 14:41

Sorry to hear about those struggling with sickness. How many weeks are you?

cloudy01 · 13/06/2019 17:42

At the mo I can't stomach coffee but am having a couple of cups of tea a day!
Also hate to tell you all this but you've made me feel better knowing you're all suffering too 😂 comfort in numbers hey! Things I've been recommended are ginger sweets from Holland and Barrett (massive bag is a fiver) and travel bands from boots. Currently sat on the tube wearing the bands and sucking a sweet and trying to focus on anything other than this sideways travelling...!! Anyone got any other random tips?

Hufflepuffinalltheway · 13/06/2019 18:15

Hey guys. Joining! I thought I was due end of Jan but looks like I’m earlier so will be due at the beginning of Feb.
You guys seem like a lovely bunch!!
It will be my third. I have a 2 year old and a 7 month old! Deff wasn’t planned but we’re just going to roll with it!
Look forward to getting to know you all xx

Bilsonate · 13/06/2019 19:10

@PrincipalVernon I'm 5+5.

@Givealittlebit I hear ya re the commute! I have a 50-60 min drive to work every day and thought I was going to have to pull into a side street to spew the other day. Totally grim Sad

@cloudy01 The only thing that worked for me last time was frozen stuff like sorbets. I used to make a frozen berry smoothie which I basically lived on for weeks Grin

@hufflepuffinalltheway congrats! What a lovely wee surprise for you!

OP posts:
Givealittlebit · 13/06/2019 19:51

@PrincipalVernon I'm 7 weeks

@Bilsonate ooh I hadn't thought of a frozen fruit smoothie! I'm living off toast, crisp breads with dairylea and the occasional apple. Ice water is my saviour!

ronniemipperton · 13/06/2019 19:58

Thanks @sulkysukey, they have started hurting again now... think I need to get used to the up and down! Took your advice and weed on a stick, still a strong line, though as you say it doesn’t really mean that much. Does provide some comfort though even if it’s all psychological.

Got my booking and scan appointments - 1st and 31st July. Haven’t made it that far in the past, but fingers crossed.

YouWhoNeverArrived · 13/06/2019 20:22

I'm 5+1. Mild nausea but no vomiting - but I didn't vomit during my last pregnancy either. Main symptom is just tiredness! I'm so much more sleepy than usual. Not looking forward to going back to work (after my first maternity leave) in a couple of weeks!

star1980 · 13/06/2019 21:18

The tiredness is killing me too and mild but constant nausea. Just about managing at work but I'm having to eat loads to get through the day. Was on a training course yesterday and had 3 helpings of lunch! Blush

ivyleaf4 · 13/06/2019 22:37

I'm 5 weeks today and the nausea is kicking in properly now. I did have quite bad sickness in my first pregnancy and had to carry sick bags around for a few weeks. Was once sick on a tube platform and another time on the high street Blush

@cloudy01 I think it can vary but last time my sickness peaked around 8-9 weeks then gradually got better and was completely gone at 14 weeks.

@PrincipalVernon that's so funny, my DD has been really similar! She often talks about her "baby sister" even though she doesn't know I'm pregnant yet. I suppose they pick it up from nursery as their friends start to get new baby siblings.

Givealittlebit · 14/06/2019 07:12

I'm wondering how my little boy will react, and definitely worried about the effect it will have on him. But at the same time I never wanted him to be an only child, and I loved growing up with my two siblings!

My husbands off on a stag do this weekend. Thankfully got a very family heavy weekend and my sister knows so she's there if I'm feeling rubbish!

YouWhoNeverArrived · 14/06/2019 14:05

With my first pregnancy, my stepdaughter (then aged 7) pointed at my stomach and said "There's a baby in there!" when I was 5 weeks pregnant, before we'd told anyone. This time around, during the two week wait, she randomly turned to me one day and said "You're pregnant!" If anyone else wants a highly reliable pregnancy test which can pick up results earlier than First Response, I could rent her out Grin

tisonlymeagain · 14/06/2019 17:43

My children are teens, they're going to be horrified!

sulkysukey · 14/06/2019 20:41

Wow YouWho, crazy about your stepdaughter!

Is anyone else having mad dreams/nightmares? Woke up this morning and it was like I'd been watching a psychological horror film, really horrid! Couldn't get back to sleep... I'm not even 5 weeks yet, hope it's just a blip?!

AverageMummy · 14/06/2019 21:20

Goodness me it looks like I’m in..... my children are 5 & 7 so I’m half terrified & half excited to be going back to the newborn stage !
