Does anyone know the cut off for the combined test? Is it below 14 weeks or below 15?

LovesHisMummyReally · 22/05/2019 13:25

Is anyone else getting a tingling sensation across their tummy, like pins and needles? had this for two days now and it is quite intense. Guessing it is to do with changes in the way the blood is flowing around that area or pressure maybe?

elephantmarch · 22/05/2019 14:10

Yes @loveshismummyreally I’m putting it down to wind Confused

elephantmarch · 22/05/2019 17:27

Ps that didn’t stop me googling “can you feel movement at 12 weeks though: just in case as that would be quite exciting.

JayDot500 · 22/05/2019 18:19

@elephantmarch 🤣🤣 Google is a natural instinct nowadays.

I definitely feel different when bending forward and I've also got a whole lotta bloat going on. But besides the odd rumbles of wind, no pins and needles here. I've spent the day with my trousers unashamedly undone, and I think one of the first things I'll do after my scan next week is order some maternity trousers 😫

TDLO · 22/05/2019 19:00

@LovesHisMummyReally I had something similar the other morning, can only liken it to that feeling before you get diarrhoea bit nothing came (sorry tmi) it could be wind I guess. Really weird.
I'm a tad overweight but can feel the bottom of my tummy getting harder and things that we're comfortable getting tighter and if anything I've lost weight (not intentionally but a consequence of trying to eat very healthy) so it's defo baby related lol

TDLO · 22/05/2019 19:02

Anyone else suffer from sciatic pain? I generally get it on and off before pregnancy, but have been struggling with it last few days. Starting pregnancy yoga videos from YouTube tomorrow to see if that helps.

Are we ok to use hot water bottles? I know we shouldn't do roasting hot baths/hot tubs due to body temp increase, but I'm thinking a targeted hot water bottle should be ok?

smartcarnotsosmartdriver · 23/05/2019 11:45

@TDLO not sciatic but have been diagnosed with PGP. Doctor said to self refer to physio. Not sure if that could help?

LauraLooDerby · 23/05/2019 14:17

Hi all
Hope everyone's progressing nicely!
I'm currently 11+4 (we think... the midwife thought I was further than that but when I went for my dating scan on Monday, the sonographer said I was only 11 weeks, so I've got to go back on Thursday next week!).
Question - I've not had morning sickness really, just a bit of slight queasiness here and there, and more recently not at all. But then today!! I feel horrific! Like I could actually be sick... Anyone else had this? It's like reverse timings for it!

BostonFern · 23/05/2019 17:03

👋🏻 hope everyone's ok, I've been a bit quiet this week, think the hormones (and work stress) were making me feel a bit down. We saw the consultant and had another scan today, and plenty of blood taken, was at the hospital for five hours! Got the start of a care plan, and several other referrals put in and I feel confident that although it's deemed a high risk pregnancy, baby and myself will be well looked after.
@TDLO I'm pretty sure hot water bottles are safe.
@JayDot500 I'm with you on the maternity clothes, I feel ready for maternity leggings and workwear now I'm 13 weeks.

TDLO · 23/05/2019 17:17

@smartcarnotsosmartdriver yes it could be that too, I had t thought. Just feels very like sciatic pain I used to get. Will see if I can do a self referral and hopefully that helps.

@BostonFern thanks, I tried a hot water bottle last night and it definitely helped. Glad to hear your scan went well and sounds like they are taking great care of you.

elephantmarch · 23/05/2019 19:07

Oh gosh I’m longing for elastic waistbands! I was on the what to expect app earlier and they said “by 28 weeks you will have a lovely baby bump” 28 weeks?!! I expect to be the size of the royal Albert hall by then. Even now when I lie down it feels like I’m lying on a cricket ball. @bosternfern I hope your work stress calms down but glad you’re getting great care. @lauralooderby that’s confusing but probably periods cycles are less accurate than the scan so I wouldn’t worry.

smartcarnotsosmartdriver · 23/05/2019 21:51

Good luck @TDLO the being in constant pain is really wearing me down. It's going to be a long 6 months I think

agteacht · 23/05/2019 23:26

Hi all hope you're all doing well

All of your holiday plans are inspiring me to book something. My husband can't get time off work until September, I would be 26-28w then and not sure if I'll regret going away. Will do some destination research over the weekend...

Sounds like everyone's a bit exhausted! Are we through the excitement now??
I'm sooooo tired this week, can't motivate myself to do anything.

Also have some possible job uncertainty coming up at work so have decided to wait until about 16w before sharing at work. Have 12w scan next Tuesday can't wait to have it done with and getting harmony test next week as well. Then telling both of our mothers at the end of week 13, I don't have a very close relationship with either of them to be honest but i know they will both be very excited so it will be a nice thing to share. They have both given up on us having kids I'd say, DH hits 39 around our due date! But also neither of our dads are with us anymore sadly so it's news that will be a little bittersweet to share without them.

Well I hope everyone is looking forward to the long weekend and some rest...

PickledEgg89 · 24/05/2019 09:23

Hello all! How is everyone doing? 10 weeks here today, 1/4 of the way. Woohoo! Only another 30 weeks to go 😴😂 I feel very far behind compared to some of you ladies.
Still waiting on my 12 week scan date coming through, the midwife said to call the hospital if it hadn't arrived by 10 weeks 🤔 I'm thinking maybe leave it and call on Monday if it hasn't arrived by then.
I'm starting to feel a little nervous re the scan now, we did pay for a private scan 3 weeks ago and all was well but I still can't help worrying! The strong HG symptoms are reassuring a little. I just want to fast forward a month or so to get past this stage so we don't need to keep it such a secret anymore and I can tell people around me so they understand why I've been so anti-social lately!

elephantmarch · 24/05/2019 11:52

Just had the scan and all is Good and healthy, very active and I’m very relieved. I’m probably about 13 weeks so the end of November

fonxey · 24/05/2019 15:34

@elephantmarch i know! I already have a small bump, even if it is entirely bloat at the moment. I'm thinking though it will either go down a bit in the coming weeks or just remain the same until real bump comes in.

I am one of 5 people pregnant in my workplace. And 3 of us are all within 1 or 2 weeks off each other. The other two will be fit to burst soon. Obviously March must have been a very fertile month!

LovesHisMummyReally · 24/05/2019 21:13

@agteacht I would have thought you would better protect yourself against redundancy (if that's what you mean) by telling them you are pregnant. Many firms won't make pregnant women redundant for fear of unfair dismissal claims. All very cynical, I know....

agteacht · 25/05/2019 16:40

@elephantmarch glad the scan went well!!

@MummyBearBoo yes I think you are right, however it's not so much redundancy but a change to team structure and reporting lines. From past experience / observation I think if it's understood I will be going on maternity leave at the end of the year, then less care will be given to whether the change is right for me and my team. If that makes sense. So will keep schtum for now. Also cynical...

Starrynights86 · 27/05/2019 16:59

@lauralooderby I am feeling terrible too, had hardly any morning sickness with first pregnancy but this time round I just feel awful. My poor toddler is watching a lot of tv at the moment :(

On the countdown for my twelve week scan, one week to go!

codenameduchess · 27/05/2019 17:26

Following the talk of holidays, do you think I need to speak to my midwife before flying? I'll be 15/16 weeks when we travel and it's a 4 hour flight. The nhs website says to discuss with consultant or midwife but it's only potentially an issue later on or if you have existing complications. I am consultant led because of my bmi but no other concerns and I didn't even think to mention it when I saw my consultant last week.

Dh wants me to call my midwife, but I don't know if it's a bit ott?

Also hoping this sickness eases off before we go as I'm sure there'll be some interesting smells on the plane 😂

LovesHisMummyReally · 27/05/2019 18:59

Unless you look very pregnant I wouldn't worry. If you look closer to 24/25 weeks I would get a letter of medical consent as some airlines will ask you for it later on. Flying doesn't affect a baby generally, it's just that they worry about you going into labour on board.

elephantmarch · 28/05/2019 10:16

Good luck to everyone having their 12 week scans this week, especially if it’s your first scan or a nervous pregnancy

@codenames if you don’t have bleeding, or complications , no I wouldn’t worry about speaking to a midwife if you’re flying now. Just stay hydrated. I would recommend declaring you’re pregnant on your travel insurance though in case you need to go to hospital for any reason.

JayDot500 · 28/05/2019 10:37

Yes! Good luck to you guys having scans today and this week! ❤️

agteacht · 28/05/2019 12:04

Good luck everyone with their scans, I remember a few were today or tomorrow.

Had mine this morning and all well ❤️
A really active baby, didn't want to stay still for measurements!

EDD by dates is 8/12 but EDD by scan is 5/12
Which do I take?

Best wishes to all today x
