Has anybody had a growth scan at 34 weeks and feel like sharing baby's est weight? I had one this week at 34+4 and baby is estimated at 14lb 14oz. Seems small compared to what I'm hearing/seeing? :( But sonographer said size was fine. Just concerned as baby is breech but still got a week and few days to turn, although was head down on midwife appt on Thursday and has turned back to head down again now! Hmm Hoping she's just making the most of the room she's got for a few more days and will stay down soon.

Can we talk about what I presume is 'fanny daggers'? Sad Been getting shooting pains down my vagina for the past few nights, to the point they're making me flail and and yelp! Eek!

Wubbawubba · 05/11/2019 07:22

@smitch82 I hope you're happily cuddling your little bundle Flowers

lovebeingmum9 · 05/11/2019 08:24

hey @Wubbawabba I've had a 32wk growth scan and baby was estimated at 4lb 11oz but that has put baby on 80th centile so I think yours sounds about right....also yes fanny daggers 😂 I've felt baby move downwards and it feels so uncomfortable to walk and move....thankfully hasn't lasted too long but I'm dreading when he engages for good and I will have to shuffle along on school runs! lol

codenameduchess · 05/11/2019 13:54

36 week growth scan and consultant app done. Utterly awful experience, over 2 hours late because the sonographer couldn't work the printer 🤷🏼‍♀️ rushed the scan so I didn't get to see baby which was a bit of a let down and basically threw me out of the room. GD isn't controlled well enough so starting insulin - but no pharmacies have it in so I've had to order it for tomorrow. Assuming one more day won't make that much difference.

Induction is in just under 2 weeks though.

Jowd92 · 05/11/2019 14:42

@lovebeingmum9 yes was my 32 week scan so they said his growth had come along nicely and instead of being under the chart his gone back on to it for now, I will still have induction because I'm suffering terribly with spd and having hydrotherapy every week and also consultant has said his fine for me to have induction around 38/39 weeks providing all is well as being due so close to xmas and I have the 3 other children so need to make arrangements for them and consultant was very understanding with this

smartcarnotsosmartdriver · 05/11/2019 17:01

@codenameduchess that's crap. I've had a couple of crappy experiences with scans recently. I don't think a day will make much difference at all. At least you've not got long left to contend with insulin etc. How exciting that you'll meet your wee one so soon! That was probably your last scan then?

codenameduchess · 05/11/2019 18:12

@smartcarnotsosmartdriver yes last scan, one appointment with the diabetic team then baby will be here! I've also brought my leave forward so finishing work this week 🙂 giving myself a week to relax/organise.

@Jowd92 great news on your scan, induction does take a lot of stress out of childcare when you know exactly when it's happening.

lovebeingmum9 · 05/11/2019 19:58

@codenameduchess oh no bet that was gutting...but at least you havnt got long until you finish work and meet your baby! so exciting! 😊

@Jowd92 ah that must be horrible having spd especially having 3 other children to look after, induction will make things alot easier to organise things around!

im 36wks today and I've got my final scan and consultation tomorrow......I'm counting down the days until my due date and induction 28days to go! lol

Jowd92 · 06/11/2019 07:20

I've never had spd before with any of my others and with my youngest his only 14 months and very active and into everything lol! So I'm constantly in pain I feel awful I dont even know how I'm going to manage another 6 weeks of it most nights I could cry with the pain, wow 28 days that will soon come round cant wait to start seing people announce there babies arrivals

December2019 · 06/11/2019 08:02

@lovebeingmum9 wow 28 days!!!
I've waited longer for a parcel 😜... ohhh it's creeping up on us all isn't it I can't wait
@Jowd92I feel your pain I honestly can! I've got SPD and it's horrible my LO is only 10 months and is crawling everywhere and I'm constantly chasing him around the house lol when I get in bed at night it feels like all my bones are broken below the waist and I can hardly stand up to use the loo 4 million times a night lol

smitch82 · 06/11/2019 08:02

Stanley arrived yesterday at 1:17am weighing 6lbs which is amazing for a 35 weeks old premature baby. He is doing great and hopefully we won't have to stay in too long! Never been more in love straight away he is so like his dad it is scary!!

@December2019
I really feel for you ladies having spd and little ones to look after, must be so hard! us woman are warriors what we go through in pregnancy, labour and motherhood! men honestly don't have any idea 😂
yeah so exciting,we're all edging closer to meeting our babies!

@smitch82 congratulations on your beautiful baby boy! 💙 love the name! hope your induction/labour was ok and you and little one are doing well?

smartcarnotsosmartdriver · 06/11/2019 09:01

@smitch82 he's gorgeous! Really good weight too, fingers crossed it's not long until your out.

@Jowd92 and @December2019 I don't know how you're doing this with young kids! My SPD reduces me to tears at least once a day. I haven't slept in what feels like years (in reality it's nearer 20 weeks). I can't even walk to the end of the road. My mum and DH are going to ikea next week and I cried because I wouldn't be able to go! Ridiculous.

codenameduchess · 06/11/2019 09:04

@smitch82 he's gorgeous! Congratulations ❤️❤️ hope you are doing well too!

aliensprig · 06/11/2019 13:09

Congratulations @smitch82, what a lovely little man!

I've just had my 32 week appointment and midwife has booked me in for a growth scan / gd test on Friday. Nothing in my urine to suggest gd but there we go. So I've gone from being worried about measuring small to the polar opposite! I'm such a muppet. Anyone had this and been fine, not labelled high risk? Desperate for a home birth and worried they won't be on board with it if baby's going to be huge or if I'm "high risk" :(

peamad · 06/11/2019 13:32

@aliensprig try not to worry, fundal height measurements are notoriously inaccurate. Were they all done by the same midwife? It is really common for babies to end up a far different weight to what was suggested by these charts or by growth scans. Are you on the facebook home birth support group? There is lots of good info on there, and you do not need to abandon your home birth plans due to baby possibly measuring large. My independent midwife doesn't even plot my baby's growth on the chart because she believes there is very little evidence to justify the interventions which often accompany them (e.g. induction for low/high estimated birth weights). www.facebook.com/groups/homebirthsupportuk/

JayDot500 · 06/11/2019 16:16

Congratulations @smitch82 Flowers

He's so cute! Hopefully you're not going to be in for long!

lovebeingmum9 · 06/11/2019 16:32

Hi all I had my last scan (36wks) and consultation today and baby was estimated at 6lb 7oz and perfectly happy and wriggling around!

@aliensprig I wouldn't worry but it's prob because your baby has gone to next line up instead of staying steady on same line they have to check why babies weight has increased....my midwife has always plotted mine above top 90th centile line but my growth scans have come under showing 75th/80th centile.....it's quite nice to have the extra scans just to check anyway 😊

Funnybunnyfluff · 06/11/2019 17:33

@smitch82

Congratulations to you and your family. Beautiful baby boy you must be so proud xx

codenameduchess · 06/11/2019 17:51

Saw my midwife today, it was the only time I could see her before the induction and the hospital appointment yesterday was so awful I had loads of questions. We went through my birth preferences and although I'm quite relaxed I'm a bit worried about being stuck on a drip and monitors the whole time, no chance of a water birth and active birthing restricted because of the drip/monitors.

My gd seems to be getting worse so I know it's all needed... I guess it's a bit disappointing that I won't ever get the type of birth I always wanted.

Funnybunnyfluff · 07/11/2019 23:38

Iv started to pack my hospital bag... I think I'm moving out 😂🙈

smitch82 · 08/11/2019 01:20

@aliensprig my growth scan was given for the same reason as yours. It came back he hadn't grown at all it was his position. Fingers crossed for you.

Stanley was diagnosed with severe jaundice and we are now in neonatal care. He is responding really well to treatment but looks like we are in till the weekend at least.

Fingers crossed he can come off light therapy soon and we can work on his feeding so we can get the nod for home time!

If anyone is being looked after at stepping hill in Manchester, all I can say is your in the best hands. I love the staff here they are amazing!

smitch82 · 08/11/2019 01:24

@codenameduchess I was attached to machines the whole labour and was worried about it. Don't get me wrong it is not the best but you do deal with it and you have really good help from the staff to keep you informed and updated on what is happening.

It is not the end of the world, I wanted a water birth but we had the birth we could have on the day and he is here now.

I hope all goes well with the induction, i am looking forward to hearing your update x
