@stripes416

I’m taking a small holdall that I use for overnighters with a seasalt hessian bag with drinks & snacks. Although we stayed in for a few days with my first so DH needed to bring in more supplies/clothes/undies etc from home after the first night.

How many maternity pads are you buying? I remember having some leftover but can’t remember quite how many!

stripes416 · 26/10/2019 17:23

@lazybutton I had completely forgotten about maternity pads! just had a look and they sell packs of 20 so I might just buy one of those. I cant remember things like that from my first either. the things you forget.
how old is your first? I remember being so organised with my first I had my bag packed for ages and did a lot of research about what I would need and now I don't even have a bag I could pack!

fonxey · 26/10/2019 22:29

Crap, bag thought of but not yet packed. Oh dear lord. Just admit fit to waking the baby clothes and trying to do a stock take.

I feel like things are slipping away!

How everyone doing ok. I'm bad at communicating and catching up. Got a sinking cold atm thanks to that flu jab and feel like poop.

Only been getting 2-3hrs sleep a night with dozing on and off in between. Finding work difficult and heard to feel motivated any more! Although I'd rather be feeling crap at work i suppose than crap at home sometimes. But it's just the mornings and evenings m breathing really.

Looking forward to mat leave in 4 weeks just so i can relax a bit...

DamnitCharlie · 27/10/2019 05:23

I've been having lots of Braxton Hicks lately (32 weeks tomorrow) and had lower back, crampy, period pain feeling for the last couple of days. I had an awful 'bracton hicks' yesterday which felt like a real contraction. Someone tell me this all normal and not to worry! I'm wondering if the baby is starting to drop and giving me backache but it seems a little early for this.

DamnitCharlie · 27/10/2019 06:13

Also with bags- I have the baby's bag ready! I packed it while going through and washing all our baby bits from the loft. I have a list of what to pack for me and my toddler - just need to do it now! I've been trying to get everything done early as I'm convinced I'll be induced early (previous SGA baby) and with working and looking after a toddler every little thing takes ages!

codenameduchess · 27/10/2019 07:21

@DamnitCharlie do you know baby's position? At my last appointment the midwife felt baby and it was 4/5 engaged and back to back- so low down and putting pressure on my back which has been giving me lots of backache, it also means kicks are full force the front and they've gotten a bit uncomfortable too!

stripes416 · 27/10/2019 09:20

@DamnitCharlie my bump seems to get quite uncomfortable in the evenings now, more that it feels quite tight than a pain but it definitely seems to get worse at night. The baby movements can hurt though aswell at the moment depending on what position he's in and where he's moving

lazybutton · 27/10/2019 10:30

@stripes416. He’s only 2 so I should have some memory of what I packed vs what I used last time! Definitely felt more prepared as a FTM, it’s the lack of time that I’m struggling with. How about your little one?

stripes416 · 27/10/2019 14:22

Yeah same mine is also 2 and definitely not prepared at all this time round. I go from thinking I have loads of time left to suddenly panicking thinking I have no time at all

codenameduchess · 27/10/2019 17:10

I've started packing the hospital bag... well baby's things, I have almost none of the things I need or it's bits I'll grab closer to the time like chargers and headphones.

All of the freshly washed baby things smell sooooooo good 🥰

DamnitCharlie · 28/10/2019 16:50

@stripes416 baby is head down, not engaged yet as of last week. I think I'm getting punches to the front in the pelvic area - that's what I could see on my last scan at 30 weeks. I slept for 11 hours last night and the Braxton Hicks has eased off so I think I was just doing too much!
I can't sit leaning back as that seems to give me back ache so maybe I just need to lean forward for the next couple of months to stop the baby lying back to back. Do they think your baby will come out of the back to back position?

DamnitCharlie · 28/10/2019 16:51

Argh meant to reply more to @codenameduchess there I think.

JayDot500 · 02/11/2019 08:33

Next month girls!
Or even this month for some!😅.

I've got 5 weeks to go, a house to get in order, a 3 year old who doesn't sleep and a busy month ahead (although not work related, since yesterday my manager and I realised we'd been calculating my leave incorrectly, so I have an extra 48 hours to take before the 18th. Score! I'm in half-day heaven)

How is everyone?

lovebeingmum9 · 02/11/2019 22:11

JayDot500 · 02/11/2019 22:57

@lovebeingmum9 yes, I'm also getting my Xmas life sorted before I drop this baby! I love that sleepsuit, I bought one sort of like that from M and S, along with reindeer PJs for my 3 year old 😊

Enjoy the scan and I hope all is well with baby. I haven't seen my baby since my 20 week scan, and the pics we were given are pretty useless, so the past 15 weeks have been a long exercise in patience and trust.

December2019 · 03/11/2019 06:18

@lovebeingmum9 that's so cute!! I've still got 7 weeks to go on Monday, we've been trying to get the nursery boxed off this week it's all printed and wallpapered, ordered carpet and drawers and I've been washing clothes like a crazy woman 😂
I've been busy buying Christmas presents for my LO he's 1 on the 23rd too so birthday gifts too... I didn't realise how expensive these small humans could be!
Ohh and a new car seat 😂 it's an expensive time of year usually at the best of times.... so who's done hospital bags yet and what you taking?
We should share cute baby clothes pics to get us all exited... let's see what you got!
This is something I picked up yesterday... incoming image....

December2019 · 03/11/2019 06:22

Here's some... I'm getting far too exited!

I love this little outfit and blanket I picked up this will be what his put in once born cant wait

December2019 · 03/11/2019 06:57

@Jowd92 they are gorgeous I love the Winnie the Pooh range at the minute it's starting to sink in a bit now... I was talking to my mum yesterday and I said something along the lines of "I'll have 2 kids next month"
I honestly went white and nearly feinted 😂
I'll have to pack 3 bags for the hospital one for me, baby and then one for my LO he's staying with his auntie but he's going through a growth spurt at the moment too so he will need new clothes 😂...
Ohhh money money money!!

Jowd92 · 03/11/2019 07:30

@december2019 crazy isnt it I cant believe it when I say I will have 4 kids one things for sure the house is never quiet actualy it's crazy Haha will be a full house at Christmas my 3 all seem to have had growth spurts too it's so expensive and with my older children wow the christmas lists get more and more expensive each year lol, yes I have to pack a bag for the kids also I just cant seem to get my self into gear to do it I know the consultant will ask tomorrow if I have yet packed it as he told me to get it done at my last appointment ooops lol

lovebeingmum9 · 03/11/2019 07:32

Thanks @JayDot500 aw bless they do some lovely clothes, bet your 2 will look so cute! my midwife plotted my growth chart yesterday and estimated he will be inbetween 8lb6oz-9lb so will be interesting to see what he weighs next week! oh blimey yeah it seems to drag but have you got/had a 32wk scan? hopefully you will get another chance to get a better pic then 😊
@December2019 thanks can't wait to have and see the hussle and bustle of our 4 on Christmas morning, most magical time of the year! but also expensive lol wow you sound like you've been very busy....bet the nursery will look beautiful once ready, have you got a theme? luckily our 2yr old went up to his new bedroom a few months ago and so the babies nursery was already painted blue with matching blind/light shade so we just had to set up cotbed and add a few new bits.... bedding and bunting etc
I've done my hospital bag but keep adding bits as I go lol I've packed red holdle bag:
birth notes on top
tena knickers/pads
breast pads
x5 large underwear
maternity bra
socks
x2 nighties
dressing gown/slippers
comfy clothes for after
carrier bag (for dirty clothes)
towel/flannel
wash bag:deodorant,lip balm,face wipes hairbands,brush,toiletries,makeup etc
bottle of water and snacks
mobile charger and earphones
notepad/pen for feeds

babies bag for life:
20x nappies
nappy bags
cotton wool
wipes
x3 muslins
x12 sma ready to feed milk/bottles
x3 bibs
x2 dummies
x6 newborn vests
x6 newborn sleepsuits
going home outfit
hats/mittens
blanket

hubby will bring car seat,snowsuit
and any extras I've forgotten or need more of!? I'm hoping to be in and out as quick as possible as long as baby has had all necessary checks etc....I hate hospitals and its a very different experience for us since we have our other children so I dont like being away from them and i generally leave hospital within a day and get home for bath and luxuries! with my last child after labour hubby had to go home for our other dc so just me and baby....there was no hot water at the hospital for baths/showers,they wouldn't help me get my bottle from steraliser and wouldn't watch my baby so I could (other families and dad's on ward) (hence why I'm taking ready made sma this time) I practically had to beg for a nappy as had used up more than expected etc etc....generally appalling aftercare last time really so hopefully nobody will experience that I def don't want a repeat!

codenameduchess · 03/11/2019 08:02

I have 2/3 weeks now 😳 next scan and consultant appointment next week at 36 weeks and they'll arrange induction for 38/39 weeks then... it feels very close now! Still haven't packed the hospital bag 🤦‍♀️ have started to harvest colostrum but not getting much- 0.4ml over 2 days.

I was hoping for a 6 hour stay but been told it will be at least 24 hours to monitor baby's blood sugars because of my GD.

@lovebeingmum9 that sounds awful, hope it's a lot better for you this time! You're very organised with the packing too

December2019 · 03/11/2019 08:13

@lovebeingmum9 I wish I was that organised 😂
That does sound bloody awful though you poor love!
I'm going to go and buy everything I need today so is out the way and done and I can stop stressing about it haha!
My LOs bedroom is dinosaurs so we've gone for a space & rockets theme this time
It's hilarious though because my LO isn't the leat bit interested in dinosaurs and it's all about the cars at the minute (anything with wheels) 😂

December2019 · 03/11/2019 08:14

@codenameduchess wow that's really close! It's so exiting!
