@elephantmarch We did a walk near Haytor... Past bonehill rocks, honey tor. I regretted that walk, too many hills and was knackered from charging up scorhill.

But we had a really good walk around Venford reservoir and up to Bench tor, and then one that started at scorhill near... Can't remember the village name. That went past kestor and they some lovely woods test we climbed through. We also did Widecombe Fair which was fun and a little walk through Fingle woods to Castle Drogo. The walk from Fingle Bridge which we did last year was great though. I love Dartmoor.

We went to Lydford Gorge shop just to get some walking book routes. They said easy... Which they would have been i guess had i not been pregnant and massively unfit. I moved to an area with zero hills and i haven't really walked as much as i used to since moving here.

Anyway also loved last year walk around Meldon reservoir. That was lovely.

I can't wait to go back with Blasto when she's born. One day we must treat ourselves away but I just love the country there. It's so rugged and you can just go for a walk and disappear, not see anyone else for ages.

We stay near Brentor and i love the church on the tor there. It's gorgeous and lovely views.

Oh i just want to go back. I had such a mistake day back at work today. Firstly i was tired and then it was just bidding. I was working with a pain in the butt and was tired and just couldn't be bothered really.

elephantmarch · 16/09/2019 22:05

@smartcarnotsosmartdriver interesting about appts. I know it’s different because I’ve given birth before but apart from the two scans I’ve had book appt, 16 week, 28 weeks then the next is 36 weeks I think. Maybe 35. They’ve measured my bump once. In a way it’s good as it means nothing is worrying them but on the other hand.. I’m an only child and like attention ;) Also can’t decide how I want to give birth... I wish there was less impetus on patient choice and someone could just say “do this” as so many options. I’ve been reading some stats on the US and there epidurals are really common...the majority of women choose one. Here, I feel epidurals are pitched as a bit of a last resort for those that a weak of spirit...

lovebeingmum9 · 16/09/2019 23:06

I'm finding it hard to keep up with all the scans,consultant and midwife appointments this time! I've got all 3 of them each month within a week of each other (would have had 5 scans in total 2 are for growth)....
I will be getting induced on my due date at 40wks (unless he comes early) and will most probably have an epidural....previously I've had
1st pregnancy 3 days overdue I had no pain relief and was an amazing delivery and could have done 10x over,2nd pregnancy went 13days overdue so got induced and had pethadine and gas and air but needed assisted forcep delivery because baby was big and had shoulder dystocia (got stuck) very traumatic/painful experience,3rd pregnancy baby came 3 days early and I opted for epidural because of previous Labour.....so I've had different every time,maybe I will end up with an unexpected c sec this time then I would have covered them all!

fonxey · 17/09/2019 09:14

I have heard that the nhs can be a bit funny about handing out pain relief. However in a firm believer in patient choice and self responsibility.

I think sometimes you so have to be firm with what you want.

Are any of you going to write a birth plan/preference thing?

I want to go midwife led. I know i am a wuss and so think I'm being mad but i have my reasons, most theoretical.

  1. I figure labour wards will be very busy and with mother's who might be more complex than me so need more attention. Rooms less comfortable. More medicalised.
  1. If i get offered an epidural I will probably take one! And i don't want to be looked and prodded more thank necessary. They also have a higher chance in needing an assisted delivery.
  1. I did a shift on a labour ward as a hca (different hospital) and didn't enjoy it.
  1. I feel is be more relaxed at a midwife led unit which would enable hopefully a better birth. I've never really been a "patient" i much prefer the other side of the fence!

Also having worked in wards I know that as a patient if you want something, you need to ask for it. Sitting back and waiting for things to happen doesn't work well.

LauraLooDerby · 17/09/2019 12:59

On a different topic, can I ask any not first time mums about snow suits....!

I have seen one that I want to get for the baby, baby is due 12th Dec.

The options are 0-3 months (up to 12lb 6oz / 56-62 cm) or 3-6 months (up to 16lb 3oz / 62-68 cm). It's from John Lewis.

I'm not convinced I'm carrying very big at the moment (although I have no idea how you know that - apart from my abdo circumference at 20 wk scan was in 95th centile - at most recent mw appt my abdo measured 25cm. So I'm pretty 'normal' I think?!)

Anyway..... can I get away with getting the 3-6 month one, just in case the baby is bigger/grows, or should I still get the 0-3 one? Bearing in mind dec birth date etc etc...

Thanks!

codenameduchess · 17/09/2019 13:03

@LauraLooDerby I'd go 0-3, even that will probably be big on a new born. My DD was summer born but was in 0-3 month clothes until close to 3 months, 3-6 would have been way too big.

LauraLooDerby · 17/09/2019 13:16

@codenameduchess ok great, thank you! I was thinking to be used probably after Christmas/NY, or in Jan/Feb so when baby is 1/2 months old ish. So I have probably answered my own question Grin

I just don't want to spend ££ on a snowsuit and then not be able to use it if baby arrives and god help me is 10lb or something.... it is epic and has llamas on it!

stripes416 · 17/09/2019 14:01

@LauraLooDerby I've just bought a snowsuit and bought 0-3 months as it'll be cold for the few months after the baby is born so it'll definitely get worn. My mind set was I would probably use the car for most journeys for the first few weeks Anyway if it's really cold and the baby won't be able to wear a snowsuit in a car seat anyway

fonxey · 17/09/2019 14:57

The beast from the east 2 is coming apparently.

I got carried away and got 3. One that looks like Totoro, another with foxes and i can't remember the other one.

codenameduchess · 17/09/2019 16:55

@LauraLooDerby where is it from? I love a llama!

LauraLooDerby · 17/09/2019 17:09

@codenameduchess

it's from John Lewis... it's more money than I ever really want to spend on baby clothes but I couldn't resist!!

codenameduchess · 17/09/2019 17:57

I love it @LauraLooDerby !! I really want the chewbacca one from gap... it's £28, and I'm now considering getting both 😂 baby has to be warm and we'll be doing the school run on foot haha

My caboo baby carrier came yesterday, couldn't resist testing it so I popped the cat in - it's so comfy! (even with a wriggling, mildly annoyed fat house cat)

lovebeingmum9 · 17/09/2019 18:04

@Lauralooderby 0-3 should be perfect for baby to grow into.....it's newborn that doesn't last over a month usually. one of mine was 10lb 3oz at birth and he fitted straight into 0-3 size lol love the llama snowsuit....they will all look so snug in them this winter 😊

smartcarnotsosmartdriver · 18/09/2019 07:57

We bought most things in 0-3 as it's been suggested he's likely to be a big boy. We figured if things were too big he'd grow into them but if they were too small we'd never use them. We can pick up some smaller bits once he's born if we need to.

When is everyone starting to think about parking hospital bags? I'm 30 weeks today and it's all starting to feel quite real.

lovebeingmum9 · 18/09/2019 17:03

I've had my consultation today and they have booked my induction on the 3rd of Dec (my due date) at 40wks Yay!!! I can't believe it's just 11 weeks away until we meet our baby! 💙
I'm thinking of packing my hospital bag around 3 or 4wks before I'm due.....although I like to be organised I seem to prefer doing it more last minute so i remember what I've packed and still have time to add to it etc :)

Wubbawubba · 19/09/2019 11:02

Can I join in? Blush

I'm due 12th of Dec with my first and absolutely clueless!

fonxey · 19/09/2019 12:37

@Wubbawubba snap! Also the 12th

LauraLooDerby · 19/09/2019 15:30

@smartcarnotsosmartdriver @codenameduchess @lovebeingmum9 @stripes416

So my DP bought the 3-6 months one 🤦🏼‍♀️ he has kept the receipt though so I'm going to change it as I'm pretty sure we won't need a snowsuit, regardless how delightfully llama covered, in June.

@Wubbawubba @fonxey
Snap! 12th for me too! But as it's my first, fully expecting to be late.

lovebeingmum9 · 19/09/2019 17:07

@LauraLooDerby hope you said to your dp "no probllama" 🤣

had midwife app today and I've got low blood pressure,low iron and blood test results showed anti e antibodies? I've been feeling quite tired so that explains why but I've never had or heard of anti e until now....midwife didn't sound too concerned and said when baby is born they will take blood from ambilical cord to check and keep check on baby for jaundice? I've googled and it's made me worry as still don't really get it? hope everyone else is doing well.

Wubbawubba · 19/09/2019 17:18

@fonxey @LauraLooDerby Aw, yay!

Are we supposed to be doing anything at this point?! I feel like I'm due in 5 minutes but at the same time it's so early to be thinking about e.g. birth plans, hospital bags?

elephantmarch · 21/09/2019 17:26

@Wubbawubba not really. You could get a pedicure before you can’t see your feet. Sleep like you’ve never slept before and if it’s your first enjoy as much time with your husband and friends with no distractions. Also dancing lots of dancing

LauraLooDerby · 22/09/2019 10:40

@Wubbawubba

I am just a bit stressed when it comes to these sorts of things, so I've got my hospital bag list sorted - just need to fill the bag - which I'll do next weekend I think 🙈

Basically I had a dream that I went into labour early and didn't have anything ready, so I had to sort it all out!

(Have also had dreams - prior to being engaged - that I was getting married the next day and hadn't invited anyone. So the next morning created a spreadsheet with everyone I would invite to my wedding. And then the same for the hen do. I'm just a stresshead, basically).

codenameduchess · 23/09/2019 10:26

@Wubbawubba with my first I didn't have a hospital bag packed when I was taken in to be induced... sent dh home to pack some things and he panicked and brought a bag for life with a set of PJs that didn't fit, a pair of his socks, a toothpaste (no brush) and a pack of haribo 😂 making sure I have one packed in the next few weeks this time!

I'm back in to mood swings, but obviously can't admit this to dh. Everything he does winds me up and I'm snapping at him loads.... but he's not helping himself. I know this is mostly me being hormonal and irrational but, he goes out every Tuesday night and DD does ballet, he knows I'm struggling with SPD and back pain but won't offer to help out if it affects his Tuesday evenings out. I want to do aqua natal to help with the back issues, but it's only on a Tuesday and again he won't change his plans (but could do it any day really). he also does one weekend event a month- has just gotten involved in organising them so it's a couple of weeks prep before hand- and womt consider not doing October or November's, knowing I'd have to do all of DDs actives alone - particularly the November one as that event is the weekend before due date but he's been vocal about not allowing DD to do her gymnastics Christmas show because it's too close to the due date.

Tamtam86 · 28/09/2019 11:12

Hope you don't mind me joining this thread! I'm due baby number 2 on December 19th! Feeling a little disorganised as I've got nothing ready and it's going so fast!!

Funnybunnyfluff · 28/09/2019 16:28

@Tamtam86 welcome

Same due date but my first 😁
