Morning all - have had a lovely morning - finally got round to sorting all digital photos from last 5 years out and making back ups! So very relaxing.

EJT - I think that would be great. I would defo be up for exchanging details. would it also be worthwhile noting geographically where everyone is. There is local mumsnet listing in camden which isnt a million miles from me - but last time i checked, there wasnt any activity.

Today is much much cooler but the weather last night has made DH look into air con units bless him. If we keep the windows open, traffic noise (although not remotely heavy by london standards) wakes us up. Since we plan to stay put for a good few years - is probably a worthwhile investment.

alicet · 06/08/2007 13:04

ejt great plan about keeping everyone in touch after baby born! Count me in.

About sleeping - I never sleep in anything anyway but definately couldn't at the mo! Most of the time the duvet is hanging off
too!

alicet · 06/08/2007 13:05

ejt glad you had a lovely night out for your anniversary too!

dal21 · 06/08/2007 13:06

p.s. ejt - your anniversary meal has made me v . sounds heavenly. have indigestion just thinking about it! His pressie sounds lovely too!

alicet · 06/08/2007 14:54

dal21 · 06/08/2007 14:58

nope alicet, i am lurking. bouncing away on my birthing ball - keeping an eye on mumsnet with one of my pc screens and backing up lots of my photos onto cd on the other. rock n roll!

WinnieThePooh · 06/08/2007 15:02

hi there,

I have been busy today emptying drawers. My office drawers are going into the nursery and FIL is bringing over a set of pine drawers for the bedroom. Have got lots of sorting out to do now and nee to put some stuff on ebay so I can see about my Amby Nest.

EJT - count me in for the buddy list, let me know what details you need.

Mumpbump · 06/08/2007 15:17

I'm here, but despairing of ever keeping up with the thread and I'm off for a week so goodness knows how much will happen whilst I am out of internet range!!

We have to sort the house out for dh's 40th birthday on Saturday. He did a flight in a vintage plane last Thursday, then I am taking him out for a really nice meal (hopefully) this Thursday (his actual birthday) and then he is having his party on Saturday... We are getting cleaners in as my dad has been building a small extension for us to house a downstairs cloakroom/utility room so everything is covered with dust/mud. The blokey apparently said that he could spent 8 hours on the kitchen alone! Whilst I admit that the tiled floor is pretty wrecked, I was slightly miffed. I know housework is not my forte, but 8 hours!!!!

Inzi - sorry to hear your grandad has been unwell and I hope that they can help him...

J2O - once you've finished your place, if you're at a loose end, you're very welcome to come decorate ours...

EJT - sounds like you had a lovely meal out with your dh... You've got to do these things before the lo arrives really, haven't you?

Everyone who has been complaining about the heat - me too! I put a 4.5 tog duvet on the bed last night and it was still too hot. Ds slept badly (also teething with his canines) and ended up coming in with us and thrashing around for the rest of the night because he was too hot.

On the upside, I got a prescription for iron and folic acid which I started taking last Friday and am feeling much better, despite the bad night's sleep!!

Mumpbump · 06/08/2007 15:32

Winnie - have you seen there is an amby baby nest for sale on here?

EJT - have to pass on the email thing as I only have my work email and it will all go to my boss whilst I'm on maternity leave. If I resurrect my hotmail account, I'll let you know...

WinnieThePooh · 06/08/2007 15:39

Thanks for that pointer mumpbump, but there is no way I could collect it from london as I am in the Midlands and don't drive.

Also I need to sell some things first to try and get at least some of the money before DP will let my buy it.

ejt1764 · 06/08/2007 16:43

just to say that it needn't be email - if anybody would like me to set them up with a text buddy, I'm happy to do that too ...

I'm just remembering how cr@p I was after ds was born - being able to text somebody would have made my friends feel less worried about where I'd disappeared to!

So - if you are interested in having an email / text buddy, email me at: eirian dot thomas at gmail dot com

Let me know ...

  • your mn name
  • your due date
  • your preference for text / email buddy
  • your mobile number if you want a text buddy / don't mind being a text buddy for somebody else.

I'll give it about a week, then work out who is best matched to whom ...

Have been over to my neighbour's house this afternoon - she doesn't work on Mondays - and her dd is more or less the same age as my ds - and they play together really nicely - we've lounged around all afternoon while the kids have run around and amused themselves at all sorts of games - pretty much perfect tbh!

Just about to take ds to the doctor about his little problem ... I never realised boys' bits could be so troublesome! poor ds!

muppetgirl · 06/08/2007 17:57

Hi all,

Well, it's been a washing day here. Have done 3 loads and got 2 dry outside, fab!

Ds has been asleep on the sofa for just over an hour so his dinner is ready but he's definately not!! (grumpy boy ) It's chicken breast stuffed with parmasan and cranberry jelly wrapped in bacon with not pots and carrots -he loves it. (Was going to be home made Chicken kiev but he went to sleep on my arm first!!)

(about my friend who died)
Had a word with a neighbour and she saw my friends mum as they went to soft play together and has expressed concerns about the nanny -she also said the mum/grandma said that she went into the house whilst her grandson was eating his dinner at the table and he left the table to go running to her and the nanny said 'get back to the table, you;re eating your dinner.' She is worried also and quite rightly upset so I definately don't mind having a word now.

My neighbour also said she had the same pains as me and her consultant said it was 'just the muscles ripping due to growth and not to worry' feeling so much better now I know what it could be

Definately in for the email text thing but will post details tomorrow after consultants app re due date -I will come home with a due date, I will come home with a due date

EJT - Have struck while the iron is hot and mailed the details through! thanks for organising. I have copied you and am doing the same on the sept antenatal thread

WinnieThePooh · 06/08/2007 19:54

EJT- have just emailed you.

Muppetgirl. It is not just washing day in this house, but Washing week. Did 6 loads yesterday, and have done 4 loads today. Will probably do another 3 at least tomorrow of all the baby clothes.

I have been sorting out all my avon stock today to go onto ebay. I just need to sort it into lots and DP will photgraph it for me to get it all listed. I will also be selling my wicker picnic hamper, which we have only used once ot twice and a couple of his shirts that are really good makes and only worn a couple of times each.

Hopefully I will make enough to get my Amby Nest.

Inzi - sorry to hear the news about your grandad. Hopewully they will be able to operate tomorrow.

j20baby · 06/08/2007 21:24

Hi all, well I started reading and then thought I better open a word doc to get you all in, god knows how long it will take! started at 8.15pm.

Great idea about the text buddy thing, Ejt, I will email you after I?ve done this.

Regarding the sleeping, I have just bought a high standing fan thing can?t wait to try it, and I?ve been sleeping naked the last few nights, I suppose I?m quite lucky having a bed to myself

LES, am I right in thinking your Ds is 8? My dd is pretty independent but doesn?t do her own washing yet-will be working on that now that I know your ds does it!

Winnie-sounds to me like your nesting! Got a surge of energy at the moment have you?

Dal-wish I could get air conditioning, saw one that had been reduced today, but it was still £70, so I bought that fan for a tenner instead.

Muppet-glad you feel ok about having have a word with your neighbour, also glad to know that our muscles are in the process of being ripped!

Inzi-sorry its not been good news about your granddad hope they get it sorted soon. Your poor dog, hope he?s ok, its really upsetting to see your pet like that.
Lovely to hear about the scan, made me smile for you.:}
Can?t believe its cold there, I?ts sweltering here still, but not complaining.
Its mainly my left side what is leaking, but the right one has joined in now!

Ejt-glad you had a nice anniversary :

Buffy-sorry your still feeling crap glad your house is coming along, not long to go now, what is it about 5/6 weeks?

Well, I?ve been to gp?s and he said I?ve pulled a muscle in my shoulder, that?s why its been so sore, but he couldn?t give me no cream as its not suitable in pg apparently, so more co-codomol for me then! also got liquid iron and some more pile cream{blush] which while I remember, if any of you are suffering with them, the mw told me to do my pelvic floor exercises and that should help.

my friend and my bro are meant to be coming to lay the laminate floor tommorrow night, can't wait

dd got back from her weekend away with her dad yesterday, she slept till 9 this morning but she's a bit moody today, and grounded again after muttering fu*k off under her breath at me love her dad and his gf's influence apparantly hid gf is a little insecure and they argued all weekend, dd said her dad's gf also said 'well, i bet you played happy families when you and j20 where together didn't you!?' errr NO, last time we went away, he got that drunk, i ended up cowering in a bathroom in the B+B with dd all night until he'd fallen into a drunken sleep, bearing in mind this was 6 years ago, and i think he's mellowed now, but i'm not particularly happy about dd hearing all that, also his gf rung me today to see if they could take dd away again for a week at the end of the summer holiday, i said ok or the time being, only because they're only planning on going about 40 mins away, so i can quite easily go and pick her up if i need to after a couple of days(whoops, sorry that unintentionally turned into a bit of a rant! )

Has anyone else noticed less movement from lo in the last couple of weeks? Don?t know if I should be worried, or if she?s just run out of room!

hope everyone else is ok and i haven't missed anyone out

j20baby · 06/08/2007 21:39

bugger, just had another skim through, missed out loads of you!

alice-how are you lately, you have responded to other people, but not said how you are! hope that means your doing good!

Lisa-hope you sleep better tonight, i was having visions of sleeping outside last night!

nellie-how did it go?

OP posts:
lisad123 · 06/08/2007 21:45

goodness you girls have been busy

My dd was as good as gold today which made it sooo much easier

Does anyone want to buy a travel cot? I brought it but now dont need it as i have my amby nest. Its one with the changing thingy on the top.

J20 I noticed LO movements are less like kicks and punches and move like shifting movements with a few painful kciks now and then. She makes the stated 10 movements a day, so im not too worried. She also moves more at night so some days i get very little in the day and loads as im trying to sleep.

Lisa

lisad123 · 06/08/2007 21:47

I dont mind J20, I hope i sleep better too, but still very hot here, but i can sleep tomorrow in the day as dd is at nursery

EJT; thanks for doing all the organising, I'll send an email shortly. Hope your doctor sorts out your poor DS asap..poor little mite!

Winnie; hope you raise enough money for your Amby soon.

Muppet; Glad you got an explaination for your horrible pain and hope the consultant gives you your due date tomorrow...good luck.

Inzi: Poor Murphy! How dreadful for you and for him..it never rains but it pours does it?... I hope the vet can get his seizures under control soon. And I hope your grandad will be fit enough for the camera investigation tomorrow. (Isnt it wonderful having Alice amongst us to help calm our fears?) But on a happier note glad your scan went well..I'm sure the good news will give your grandparents a boost. Thinking of you all at this worrying time.

Despite having napped twice today I'm going to have an early night (it is cooler tonight so have high hope of actually sleeping)so... Good night all

TheLadyEvenstar · 06/08/2007 23:56

J20,
DS has just turned 9 on sunday. He loves doing his washing (still sure he should have been a girl lol) I have had 3 gorgeous cuppas tonight made by him, I just think it teaches them independance. And at the moment it is a godsend lol When i am too tired he will make dinner for us, ok not a gourmet meal but he makes what we like in the way of an easy meal. Last was hot dogs mash n beans, He great with boiled eggs as well lol. I do sometimes feel I am evil not having energy to do it for him but he loves to look after me. He told me last night he is scared and will miss me when I am in hospital having baby and that he has looked online and has found i could have lo at home. Which to him would be good as he could watch.....I don't think so lol. His answer was, well i wash your hair and back when you are in the bath i could watch you give birth. OMG what has happened to my sweet innocent little boy lol.

FloriaTosca · 07/08/2007 08:37

tLES; your son sounds wonderful..my 9 yr old nephew wouldnt do half as much for his Mum....but the thought of him watching the birth ...it is all so simple to them at that age isn't it?...mum says "ooh I think its coming", lies back and out pops a clean sweet smellling smiling baby! He is still innocent thank goodness!.

My SIL had a shock when she fell asleep during a tv programme recently and her almost 3 yr old (9 yr olds brother) told her when she woke that the main character had had a baby "oh, did it come out of its Mummys tummy?" she said, "no!" replied toddler emphatically through his dummy "here!" he said pointing between his legs!!!!!...now there is loss of innocence!

TheLadyEvenstar · 07/08/2007 08:59

Floria, LOL i love it.

Children do say the funniest things. My 3 yr old nephew asked my mum the other month where I was so she said I was at the hospital, they were in middle of the market and at the top of his voice he said "Has she gone about her willy, Has it stopped working". I had to laugh when mum phoned me.

I have prob with 3 jealous boys about baby..my 7 yr old n 3 yr old nephews n ds is a tiny bit jealous after having me to himself for 9 yrs....But have kinda solved it with him as I have got him helping. He has picked LO outfit to come home in, and the beds they are going to have in their room. I am planning to put LO in bed around 6-8 months same as I did with ds....maybe I am mad!!! lol

Anyways am gonna drink my coffee and then go shopping. catcha all in a while xxx

muppetgirl · 07/08/2007 09:20

Hi all,

We're soft playing this morning with friends and then it's more washing....

ds going to friends whilst dh and I go to the hospital re baby's growth and hopefully should have confirmed due date -Hurrah!

Inzi -I hope Murphy is on the mend and that your grandad gets the treatment he needs.

Les -Your doing a great thing for womankind in trainning your ds. It's too late when they've got wives/partners. My dh is better than he was but still doesn;t 'see' what needs doing

Have a good day all

TheLadyEvenstar · 07/08/2007 09:33

Muppet,
I have been same with him always. I lived with his sperm donor which was hard work, he couldn't even boil an egg. Certainly didn't know what a washing machine was lol.

So i decided when he walked away when ds was 22 months I would not raise a son the way his sperm donor was raised. I started with simple things like taking his plate out when he was 22 months old, he also loved the hoover so would let him "hoover" although i had to do it again later lol. then he would bring his clothes out washing in his room...and we went on from there.

My dad taught us girls to change plugs etc at an early age, and I learnt about cars etc so I guess I just wanted him to be raised same way. Mind you I think i shocked dp other day when we were out as I heard a noise in car and told him clutch cable needed tightening...so he pulled over checked and tightened it. When he got back in he asked how I knew and I just smiled at my dads memory.

I been going through bad days last couple of weeks cos i been sitting here thinking my dad will never know or hold lo and he always held they boys n gave them nicknames....but my mum said i wil think of one as he is born and if not one will come to me. Just keep crying cos I miss my dad.... ooppss soz rambling now.
