Right, I'm off to re-pack and do dinner, so if I don't see you tonight have a good week everyone and I'll catch up with you next friday/sat

muppetgirl · 03/08/2007 19:50

Right, piggy mafia's advice needed...

In feb a close friend of mine comitted suicide through depression. She lives opposite to me so see her house everyday and it's still very sad...

She left behind 2 lovely boys 3 + 7 and her husband of 14 years. He's trying to do a marvelous job but is slowly sinking. He has hired a nanny who leaves the boys playing outside unattended for longish periods of time. Things have happened, 3 yr old fell off his bike and a neighbour had to go and get the nanny out of the house to see to him, 3yr old rides his bike in the middle of the road and has very little road sense. 7 yr old was kicking the ball directly at my ds's face, whilst I know he is traumatised (he and his mum were very close) he was becoming a dnager to other younger children. The neighbours in my street are very close and we see a lot of the kids and they 'play out' most afternoons after school.

Right, whilst putting ds to bed today I saw the 3yr old riding his bike down the middle of the road whilst a car was trying to go past him (3yr was riding towards the car) the car couldn't see him and basically stopped so he could pass. We live on a no through road that is very quiet during the day but very busy at coming home time. I went over to a neighbours house to ask her advice and saw the 3yr old ride his bike past his house and then promptly fall off (still on the road...) his dad did come out after that BUT

...do I go and see the dad regarding my concerns?

He has been given 3 weeks time off by his company as they are worried about his health (we hear him coughing/retching quite a lot) and when the kids are out he is cleaning the house/sending work emails as he tries to fit it all in around the kids..

I miss his wife dearly but he has cut her friends off slightly as I think we remind him of what she was like towards the end. I do know her best friend well and her mother a little who ahve also expressed concerns.

What would you do?

lisad123 · 03/08/2007 20:08

Hi LES

email me your address at [email protected], and i'll drop it in the post asap gad someone loves me.

Inzi, i hope his ok, be sure to let us know if you need anything or if we can do anything. Hugs to you and yours

Muppet, I would go and talk to him. Maybe not about what he does, as his stressed enough right now but maybe about concerns about nanny. Tell him what you told us, he may not know and im sure you would never forgive yourself if somehting happened to the boys. Also would you have told your friend? Im sure you would have. Im sorry to hear they and you have such a great loss, I hope you are ok. Hugs to you too.

Lisa

MrsFish · 03/08/2007 20:09

I would go and see him. The nanny is clearly not doing her job properly. How on earth would he feel if he lost his son too

J20 - do you think you and I are addicted to DIY???

alicet · 03/08/2007 20:53

Quick post before I go to bed....

Inzi fingers crossed for good news about your grandad....

Muppet - can echo the others comments that I would go talk to him. He sounds like he is struggling at the mo so you might get it thrown back in your face initially but I think he needs to know how bad things are with the nanny.

Hello everyone else and thanks for all your hugs and good wishes to me - feeling less sorry for myself now! Hope you all have a lovely evening and chat sometime tomorrow.....

j20baby · 03/08/2007 21:08

dal-i am steadily starting to hate DIY, but we moved into a house a couple of months ago and i can't stand things that aren't as i like them, it was woodchip everywhere! nobody helps me so its a case of getting on and doing it, nearly finished the house though

J20,

on dps mother....she won't even meet dp for a coffee let alone me...I am tempted to send her an email telling her to f**k off lol. She is one of these people who has married into money and is of the "new money" crew. Thinks she is a cut above the rest. Mrs Prim n Proper lolol...when she is no different from the rest of us. She stopped talking to dp's sister for yrs because she is a lesbian ????????

Think that Kinda explains her....

As for DP's son, we are not allowed to take him clothes shopping as we do not buy nike, reebok, addidas, pume, etc...we buy peacocks, primark, asda, etc and mummy darling doesn't like it. Dp agrees with me that our baby and the move is more important at the moment. He didn't get ds involved in raf cadets and I have said she has done it to be spiteful therefore why is he being a mug and forking out for the costs when it means he can't see his ds. Dp, now see's it as it is and has decided she can wait until 20th for the money as we have to deal with things our end as well.

I just been sitting here laughing as I play my fav song of all (well fav at the moment) The ebay song here are the lyrics.........go on all have a giggle..........

muppetgirl · 04/08/2007 09:27

Morning all,
Have decided to ask my friends bf round for a chat as she knows her mum much better than I do. My friends husband is the one who was in charge of the boys when the 3yr old fell off his bike, not the nanny, though we all have concerns about the nanny.

I just didn't want to wade and make this any more difficult for him atm. I saw my friend 2 days before she died and I feel I said the wrong thing to her and although I kow that wasn't the sole cuase of why she did it (she had been ill for a while) you always get that feeling 'well, if only I'd said/not said...' and I don't want to get it wrong with her husband.

He and the boys are going away for a week tomorrow so I've got the week to catch up with her friend and mum without him thinking I'm sneaking around trying to catch him out.

re the help, we used to babysit on a sun night so he could still go to the quiz with the boys but his 7yr old was being so rude to dh he felt he couldn't anymore. Also the husband will not ask for help and when it's offered he says yes thanks, but never comes back to you as he says he feels he just can't ask.

Well, didn't sleep much last night ds up early and had to be told in no uncertain terms to go back to bed!! Dh is going to take him swimming today as I'm just to tired and know I won't have the patience. We're going tile and flooring shopping/looking today as the new kitchen is being done in sept -can't wait! It's grey here so I think it's going to rain and we were supposed to be having a bar=b=q with friedns tonight but I don't think that's going to happen!

Have a good day all, speak later.

j20baby · 04/08/2007 09:28

LES-you sound more upbeat today, which is good

i hate people like dp's mum,what a witch!

lisa-have a nice day, pool party, might have to pop round!

well i've got my mw coming this morning to help me write my birth plan, do you think i should hide all my decorating stuff so i don't get told off?

only 2 more walls of papering left to do, woohoo!

have a nice day everyone

OP posts:
muppetgirl · 04/08/2007 09:35

j20 -you could always add in a spot of decorating into the birth plan!

TheLadyEvenstar · 04/08/2007 10:29

Good morning all

Well I have just got up after managing a whole.....5 hours sleep. I was so uncomfortable....Dp came home from work at 2am as he was worried about me...felt nice lol.

Had dream that i got up for toilet and gave birth to LO but nobody knew and in the morning I was skinnier than I ever been lololol....

got woken up by mum at 10am, phoning to tell me it was hot outside. Like i cared lol. Told her I had woken up with my leg hanging over side of bed every day for last week, she then told me when she was pg with me I was laying same as lo and she often woke with her leg up the wall lol. I also have this cough which dr says there is no reason for as there is nothing wrong with me, chest clear etc when I told mum...she was same with me!!!! Hope this pg doesn't go same way as I was born by emergency c section as my elbow came out first OUCH!!!!

Also I have got Spider nevi on my face, neck, chest, shoulders and arms. Dr said it just hormone changes causing it. But looks awful.

Going to hang some washing up in a minute then get a box put together to start packing clothes I am keeping. Ohhhhhhhh I can't wait to move. Wish I knew how to post link for site with pics of our new flat on. The thought of the en suite lol.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day I want a nice quiet one hiding from sun lol.

j20baby · 04/08/2007 15:12

muppetgirl, i don't even like decorating! oh well, one wall to go! my mw was here for an hour! we just jotted a few notes down, she doesn't think i'm going to have time to have the 2 lots of antibiotics for the strep B so will probably have to stay in 48 hours after the birth, i said make it a week

am undecided whether to go for a nice bath or to try and finish papering.......bath i think, may go out for a bit tonight, if i can find anyone, bf has gone to cleethorpes for that night out i'm not invited to, hope it rains, and they all get soaked in their skinny clothes and their make up goes all over their faces, HA!

have a nice afternoon and evening all

j20baby · 04/08/2007 19:54

hey, where are you all?

i'm bored, can't really be bothered to go out, my legs wont work properly, and everybody's busy. would like to be sat in a beer garden though! its nice and warm here, just went down the alcohol aisle at Asda, looking wistfully at the bottles of wine, bought a non-alcoholic one

evening all

I guess your all out enjoying the sun Well pool party was great fun, for dd and dh but i had to sit on the side. there was no way i could have got in, the steps were too steep It looked lovely. Aftre that we were going into town to get Tanisha's school shoes, and dh was meant to go off to get his haircut as i had my wheelcahir. Well dh forgot to put seat pad in the car for the chair and i cant use it without, so had to use crutches, in thhis heat is not good. Got to shoe shop and they had none in her size that didnt have huge heels and no pilmsoles in her size at all, I could have cried
I managed to get her shoes in BHS and dress and packed lunch in tesco, but still no pilmsoles grrrrr.
I went off to lay down but told dh to cook the fresh sauages in the fridge for tea, but he wasnt listening and cooked froozen. I could shoot him sometimes, he is driving me mad!!
DD is now in bed and i have a huge pile of washing to sort, oh what joy!

Sorry moan over.

LES got your addy, will send on monday if i manage to get out. Hope it helps.

Well we had a lovely day yesterday ? I had a lie in then we took ds swimming. Lovely sleep at lunch when ds slept then out for a gorgeous meal in the evening for a mates birthday. Twice in one week ? very unusual!

However last night was sh*te. Couldn?t get to sleep until gone midnight, slept fitfully till 4 and have been awake since then. Just beginning to doze off at about 6 when ds wakes. So absolutely shattered now. And a long time till ds?s lunchtime sleep! At least I don?t feel so sick today?.

Muppet ? good plan to chat to your friends bf to find out the best way to play it?.

J20 glad midwife appt went well

Lisa glad you had fun at your pool party!

OK ds needing some attention ? skim read news so sorry if missed anything! Will hopefully be back later?..

j20baby · 05/08/2007 12:40

aw poor you alice, is it hot there? the heat doesn't help when you can't sleep, i really want to go and put my feet ina paddling pool

well, I'VE FINISHED MY WALLPAPERING
only laminate to do now, woohoo!!!!

i'm off to a bbq later, hope everyone has a nice day, and don't forget to put suncream on if your outside

OP posts:
alicet · 05/08/2007 15:58

Yes it was the heat keeping me awake. No fun!

And ds only slept for 1 and a half hours at lunch time which is unheard of - usually its at least 2 if not 3! So I woke up feeling worse....

Plus dh is in work this pm - thought it was only going to be a couple of hours but has turned into more like 6.

So feeling very sorry for myself.... pathetic I know - esp as ds has been absolutely gorgeous and we've had a lovely time in the garden but I feel tired and sick and my back aches.

OK self pity over! J20 delighted you've finished your wallpapering and enjoy your bbq. Hope the rest of you are having a lovely day....
