Hi All,
Hope everyone's ok. Just got back from Plymouth and absolutely shattered.
I've just noticed that someones mentioned Pregnacare, Great, i need some advice.

My Dr has prescribed this for me as i'm slightly anaemic but my BF reckons i won't be able to take Gaviscon with it which i really can't live without at the mo. Does anyone know if this is right? I've also heard it can leave you terribly constipated and to be honest i really couldn't get any worse!!

lisad123 · 31/07/2007 22:59

glad to know there are some other washable mums here. I didnt do it with DD as she was so tiny when born
I have brought some this time round and my sis is advicing me as she is a long term washable user
Im panicing about tomorrow, but sure it will be fine, but shame dh cant come with me and hold my hand. Willl let you girls know how it goes, but might be on tomorrow morning in a panic so please forgive me.

Lisa

MORNINGGGGGGGGGGGGG lol i am first on here today. Soz have been up almost 2 hours now, LO has his feet in my ribs and I am so uncomfortable although I am tempted to go back to bed for a while.

Had to go to dentist yesterday ARGHHHHHHHHH my phobia!!!! as since being pg my teeth have been breaking, same happened with ds1. Dentist told me I have a lot of work to be done and it is due to baby taking all my calcium...little tyke!!!! SO have to go back next wednesday for root canal treatment to start with and when I have had him I have 4 teeth that will need to be capped/crowned. This def last baby I have lol or i will be toothless.

Anyways having a wander round site then back to bed I think xxx

nellieloula · 01/08/2007 07:13

Morning everyone - hope today goes ok Lisa and welcome ChocolateHN.

HOpe everyone else is ok - interestng about the pregnacare - I took it religiously with DS1 but this time round stopped at 13 weeks cause of the constipation. Thinking I may start again though if it could help with the lack of energy.....I am really struggling to get anything done in the afternoons. Horrible. Thankfully DS has a really busy morning and then asks to stay in and play! Just feels such a waste when the weather is so lovely but I know it's better that way than me in a heap of exhaustion.

anyway - hope everyone has a good day and catch up later

muppetgirl · 01/08/2007 07:53

Morning!

We're sat watching lazy town whilst the dogs are playing with a ripped tennis ball around the lvivng room floor. I should go and pick it up but just can't be bothered!

I only woke up once last night which is amazing (it was a gaviscon moment...) and I feel a little better for getting more of a whole nights sleep. I think heartburn is natures way of getting us all ready for the sleepless nights!

I am going to buy one of those pedestal rugs for the loo today as then I can wash it -ds's pooing problem. He dances and dances around the living room but refuses to go to the toilet. Had a chat with dh about it last night and we're turing the telly off he he won't go and won't get it back on until he does. Nasty mummy

Lisa -Good luck for today!
J20 -Just read the lubricant comment from myself -funny how it sounds funny in your own head but not at all on screen!!!

Dsis off to nursery so I am going swimming, my back has got to the point where just sitting still is painful so it's off to the chiroractor/oestopath (what's the difference?) for me. Had it with ds but didn't realise anything could be done whilst I was pregt and waited until after. Met a girlie who had a similar problem and she saw one when she was prgt and she thought it was fab.

Lovely weather, have a good day all

FloriaTosca · 01/08/2007 08:17

Good morning you busy lot! Its taken me ages to catchup.
Lisa;good luck today, I hope goes well for you. incidentally I'm going to be a washer woman too...my Mum will be doing a lot of babysitting for me while I work from home in the afternoons and she's a confirmed terry square person, plus my council gives you £45 voucher for cloth nappies (to help save the environment) so we're buying a dozen bamboo squares and a dozen bamboozles and seeing how we go.
Welcome Chocolatehobnob
LES,;ooooh sorry about all the dental work needed And sorry about discomfort too...I had that last weekend (though not feet in ribs) and it's not fun. Just a suggestion but have you tried deep yoga/pilates breathing? Filling your lungs right to the bottom might gently nudge LO into a more comfortable position...I only say this because mine was riding quite high at 5 months until I had a big concert to do and my bump was noticibly lower after rehearsals and especially after the concert...it cant hurt anyway!

well we had a day on holiday yesterday, we went to Silverdale and Southport, payed on the beaches with the dog and had pub lunches and dinner out..it was lovely until we got home to a message to warn us that our lawyer had just recieved the coroners report for my Dads inquest to be held today and they were reccommending a verdict of "natural causes"....what part of asbestosis is "natural"? They apparently havent done a full count of the asbestos threads in his lungs and havent dignosed mesothelioma (didnt they read his medical notes?)...and as they didnt release the pathology report to the formost specialist in the disease until yesterday either we dont have his diagnosis to support our case....20 weeks since we lost him and they only release reports the day before the inquest? It is ridiculous! So I didnt sleep well last night, I'm taking rescue remedy and today doesnt look like it is going to be much fun...I'm probably in serious danger of being found in contempt of court...If we dont get a death certificate stating asbestosis and mesothelioma not only does it wipe him from the statistics..which need to be seen...it seriously injures the compensation claim against his employers that my dad started...his one consolation in getting such a horrible disease that would seriously shorten his life was that it would leave my mum comfortable for the rest of hers and now even that is in the balance.

MrsFish · 01/08/2007 08:22

 Morning All

I did too much yesterday, as my cold feels worse again I woke up every two hours last night, if the heartburn wasn't bad enough, the raging sore throat and cough helped

So glad we did make that mistake on the holiday now, dh has dragged himself to work today but he is still quite bad. Would have ruined the hoiliday IF it had been this week.

Had a spending spree yesterday, bought myself more clothes I really shouldn't but then thought what the hell, if it makes me feel better about myself for the next two months then it is worth it Also bought another couple of outfits for lo

Off out for a walk at ten with a couple of friends which will probably finish me off today, if the sun is still out later will try and persuade ds into a nice long nap and will go and make the most of it with a book

Hope everyone has a good day

MrsFish · 01/08/2007 08:25

Oh dear Floria, thats awful, its bad enough to lose your dad, but to have all this going on too must be incredibly hard on you. {{hugs}}

I lost my dad suddenly when I was 5 months pregnant with ds1, it is incredibly difficult, I really hope you get the outcome you want.

j20baby · 01/08/2007 09:20

Morning all

FT-thats terrible, i really hope you can get it sorted, what a nightmare for you

mrsfish-hope you cold clears up soon.

muppet-good idea to get a pedestal for the loo, a washable one, don't get the rubber backed one, it knackers your washer!

LES-you where up early, hope you get a nap later.

well, i've had my finger on redial for another half an hour this morning, and all the appointments had gone again, nearly burst into tears! i was going to buy some Spatone, you know that liquid iron, but it is so expensive, i was hoping the doc would prescribe it or something similar for me, will try again in morning.

well, we're off to town, there's meant to be a fun day on, with an outdoor ice rink, i've got a parenting class at 2.30, an antenatal one, not quite sure what it is about, but will go and see anyway.

Lisa-good luck for today, will be virtually holding your hand

have a nice day all

Im taking a book with me to read as no doubt they will run late as always. Gonna make sure i eat before i go as if they keep me in the evening meals suck

I mean why serve sandwiches and crackers as the last meal of the day, harderly gonna keep pregnant woman going till morning is it!! My house looks like a bomb has hit it Oh well.
Hope your all well today and those ladies in herts have you seen to meetup thread for friday? Are any of you going?

Hope your ok FT and loads of hugs for you

Lisa

FloriaTosca · 01/08/2007 13:28

Well it didnt go as we wanted. Verdict; Death by "natural causes" apparently; the pathologist believes that his cancer started in his oesophagus and spread later to his lungs and heart ...when he had been on treatment for various heart and lung problems for 15 years and he only started getting stomach/eating problems 2 months after his consultant diagnosed asbestosis (ie.the last 2 months before he died)along with asbestos related cancer/possible mesothelioma...His whole work history as a plumber working with asbestos negated because he smoked in the 50s and 60s ...It was all very frustrating and upsetting...I'm so depressed it is hard to think..I just wish I could cancel the whole afternoons teaching and sob in a darkened room instead (Dh says if I wasnt pg he'd take me out to get blotto!..not a solution to lifes problems that has ever worked for me, but I'd have been willing to give it a go on this occasion). Sorry to vent...Dh has heard it all through 3x already, he's already sick of the subject..I just needed to let off steam. I dearly hope everyone elses day has gone better so far.

ejt1764 · 01/08/2007 14:14

just a quick message to give an enormous big huggle (ds's word) to you Floria - you talk about it as much as you want to us ...

I'm hurting, so have taken some souped up painkillers, and am going to sit comatose in the back garden while ds plays in the paddling pool - he's invented a new game that he calls soccer-ball ... basically, you throw a rugby ball into the paddling pool, then dive onto the ball creating as much noise and splashing as possible ... oh to be 4 again!

FloriaTosca · 01/08/2007 16:46

EJT thanks for the huggle it is appreciated... your ds, soccerball sounds like a good way of letting off steam...wish there was a pool big enough to take my whale sized proportionsSorry you are in pain and hope the pill works a miracle for you.
Well I thought I was in for a marathon teaching session today but apparently when I say "I might just have to cancel next Weds, but I'll book you in as usual and phone or text you on Tues if I actually can't make it" ...sounds like.... "I'm not teaching next Wednesday" ....because 4 pupils/3.5 hours worth of teaching haven't turned up or phoned to check if I was teaching only to say that they have decided to do something else![anger]...I won't give them the courtesy of a warning in future!....aren't there just days when you just want to go and curl up in a darkened room and make life go away!?

ejt1764 · 01/08/2007 16:56

How bl00dy rude!!!!!! on your behalf! I definitely wouldn't given them a warning in future ... even more huggles and gentle pats to you FT!

nellieloula · 01/08/2007 16:58

Just a quick one from me - FT, I am so sorry to hear your news. You must be devestated - hope you can have an ok evening and tmrw is a little better - sure it will take a long time to come to terms with that. But come on here and rant all you like!

Lisa, hope it all goes ok for you too and sorry to hear you're in pain ejt.
mrs fish, very jealous about the shopping spree.....where do you go for maternity clothes? there doesn't seem to be anything decent here.

everyone else, hope you're ok. I'm getting ready for my parents to arrive which I have very mixed feelings about - to say my mum is not one for helping out, supporting, encouraging and enjoying her time with DS1 is an understatement - wish me luck!!

MrsFish · 01/08/2007 17:24

Hi nellie- I get most of my stuff from mothercare and next and a few normal tops in a bigger size from Dotty P's

rek21 · 01/08/2007 17:27

Hello everyone, mind if I join you?

I have been lurking (I think that's the right word) on this thread for ages now, I'm due on the 25th October, a little girl and this is my first pregnancy. I'm a teacher but officially on maternity leave as of the start of next term, so not going back until next year.

I want to say thanks because reading the thread has already helped me with so many questions I've had about pregnancy, I've not posted before for the lame reason that I've never posted on any web discussion before . My DH who is an IT professional thinks I'm a wimp and keeps asking me if I've posted yet so here I am!

I'm sorry to read about people's health worries and other general concerns and frustrations - hope that you all see improvements very soon.

I have lots of questions - but time for some more gaviscon now - so I'll leave them for another day! All the best.

alicet · 01/08/2007 17:38

Well didn?t make it back last night because I went to bed at 8.30! Completely knackered but feel a lot better for it today!

Had our 4D scan today and it was amazing. Even clearer than with ds1 and that was pretty good too! Confirmed beyond any shadow of a doubt that we?re expecting a little boy! Ds was really good for most of it although I don?t think he ?got? that it was his brother on the screen!

Chocolatehobnob ? welcome!

LES ? sorry to hear you had a disturbed night and need so much dental treatment too esp as you hate dentists! I had my reminder card through a couple of days ago so will sort out an appt in the next couple of weeks?

Floria ? sorry to hear about all the aggro surrounding your dad?s death. Just NOT what you all need now. Really sorry to hear that it didn?t go your way at the inquest. Is there any come back from this or do you just have to accept their verdict? If you had been told that he had asbestosis and mesothelioma can you get the docs who treated your dad to appeal against this or is it all too late now?

MrsFish ? enjoy your day and your purchases! I agree totally that the money is more than worth it to make yourself feel good ? very easy to just feel fat and frumpy at the mo isn?t it?

Ejt ? we have huggles too! Very important!!! Mummy huggles, daddy huggles and Sam huggles (ds1)!! Sorry to hear you?re sore?

Lisa ? hope all has gone well today and you?ve not been kept in?.

Nellie ? I have got lots of maternity clothes from Isabella Oliver (isabellaoliver.com) Pricey but fab quality and very flattering. Good resale on ebay too ? in fact have got a lot from their second hand rather than new.

Hope the rest of you had good days?..

alicet · 01/08/2007 17:39

welcome rek21 - cross posted! You will find a lovely bunch of friendly unjudgemental ladies here so nothing to be scared of!

ejt1764 · 01/08/2007 17:54

Hiya rek21 - welcome!!

I'm also a teacher, but am intending to go back for the first week of term - although I won't be teaching as my maternity cover starts on the first day of term - I'll just be doing the crappy stuff that nobody else wants to do ... and staying in the staff workroom out of the way of all the kids so they can't knocl me over!

lisad123 · 01/08/2007 18:30

Hi all

Yes im home they emptied me of loads of blood... hmm vamps in blood lab im sure. They have said they feel ok waiting till next week for scan as she is moving around. So we'll see.
Also seen my bllod results and theres some confusing things about cells in my urine and it looks like someone should have followed up as my phone number is written at top and it clearly say follow up and discuss. Guess I will raise that next week, think its to do with my kidney infection.

Im ok but very sleeply as you can guess i didnt sleep well last night.

Welcome to rek21, these are a lovely group of ladies and glad to hear we have helped you without knowing.

Ohhh it meant to be hot hot hot this weekend maybe our next thread will be titled sweating pigs, to hot to be in sun so hiding in the shade
hehe

dal21 · 01/08/2007 18:37

FT - my sympathies are with you and lots of hugs! So sorry - you seem to have so much on your plate to deal with at the mo!

J20 - you sound a lot better, hopefully the pregnacare will help.

Rek21 - welcome to the thread!

CHobnob - i keep thinking about them ever since seeing your name and am not even a biscuit gal!

MrsF - sorry to hear you are still feeling lousy, just as well your hols are next week!

EJT - Sorry you are in pain.

Alicet - the scan sounds amazing! we have decided against one as we dont want to know babys flavour and dont really know point of going for one as we will probably have to look away a lot.

sorry if i have missed anyone off!

I have a question (bit of a silly question) - i am not sure what heartburn feels like. is it one of those things that I will know if I have it?

ejt1764 · 01/08/2007 18:59

dal - I had never had it before I was pg with ds - and yes ... you will know it if it happens .... hopefully you won't - it sucks!
