Dal- My heartburn starts as a burning feeling just below my breastbone (top of bump), it then moves its way up between my boobs still burning but also feeling like a lump of something coming up too, then up my neck into the back of my throat still burning, makes my mouth water and feel like I am going to throw up sometimes too. You would know if you had it

Welcome Rek21

Lisa - glad you are back home, fingers crossed for the rest of the tests.

Alicet - glad your scan went well... any pics you can share??

I am feeling better this afternoon, just hoping for a better nights sleep tonight

alicet · 01/08/2007 19:12

Lisa - if you have had a kidney infection that would certainly account for some types of cells in your urine so I wouldn't worry but worth asking! Glad all went well even though you have been bled dry!

Dal - in the 4D scan they mostly are looking at the baby's face and only looked at his bits because we asked - it would definately be possible to have a scan without finding out the flavour. We liked it as you get to see loads more detail plus have a dvd of the scan and pics to take away which we thought would be lovely for him to see when he's older. But its certainly not something you need to do if you're not keen.

MrsFish - will try and upload some pics later! We have loads on a cdrom so certainly have them to share! Will let you know when they're on....

alicet · 01/08/2007 19:13

dal can also add that you will know heartburn if it happens! Nothing to add to others descriptions other than that gaviscon usually makes it go away although sometimes only temporarily!

dal21 · 01/08/2007 19:20

alicet - thats interesting about the scan. I just always assumed that it would reveal everything! will talk to DH about it as that was really the only reason i was hesitant.

thanks for the heartburn feedback - will thank my lucky stars thus far and keep my fingers crossed that it stays away. I have to eat very lightly at night (so most nights have 2 slices of toast with ovaltine) otherwise I get indigestion. But even that doesnt sound like what you are all describing.

j20baby · 01/08/2007 20:10

Hi all, not stopping as i am shattered and my back is still giving me quite a lot of pain in the upper half,so i'm plannin on an early night. just wanted to let you know about the parenting class, it was about labour and breast feeding..etc, they focussed a lot on the partners, which was nice for the all the others but not me! they also talked a lot about how to get through the first stages of labour staying at home-another i can't do, and about the birthing centre, what is lovely and offers water births..etc, guess what? i can't go there because they don't do antibiotics, it was a waste of time imo, but all the others where first timers so probably a lot more helpful to them than me, then took dd for a meal and had to wait over an hour for our food, then they had no ice cream left, so as you can imagine i'm probably better off in bed.

FT-sorry to hear your news will you keep arguing your case? is it possible to?

Lisa-glad it wasn't too traumatic.

welcome to the newbie-who's name escapes me right now, and hi to everyone else, will catch up in the morning

Hi all and thanks for the welcome. I am sorry to hear some of your health problems - wishing you lots of luck and comfort with those.

I haven't had heartburn (yet) - sounds like a relief! Actually today is the first day I've started to feel heavy and uncomfy. Sign of things to come.

Doesn't it feel odd that it's now August and October is so close? Exciting.

muppetgirl · 01/08/2007 21:34

Floria - I?m so sorry you din;t get the result you wanted. This must be a really tough time for you and your family

Alicet ?Your scan sounds fab! We didn?t get one done with lo as we didn?t with ds1 as they were very new at the time. I also bought a bit from Isabella Oliver as found the non-fitting maternity tops made me get shorter and shorter! We also have an outlet near us so have bought few things from the next outlet shop.

J20 ?Your course sounds pants ?who recommended it to you?

Hi rek21 ? I was a teacher too but haven?t worked since last Easter and won?t be going back. I wonder if we have any other ?lurkers? ?

Dal -I have heartburn and would definitely agree that you know when you?ve got it! I?d never had it before I was prgt with ds1. Can you overdose on gavascon?? I started necking it out of the bottle with ds1 and are doing the same again

Can I ask a quickie question as I need some opinions?

Right I did a baby book for ds1 and want to do one with ds2?
Ds1 will no doubt want to see his BUT I have looked at it since I/we wrote it and you can tell I wasn?t very well when I wrote it. It is quite ?forced? in its enthusiasm and not positive at times.

So?should I re-write ds1?s baby book?

The reason I ask is I found a letter in the loft when my parents split up and it was written when my mother was recovering from a breakdown and it said she thought my older brother was wonderful, my middle brother was being very ?him? and that she was ?paying the price? for having me. This stayed with me for years even though I now understand her mental state at the time.

alicet · 01/08/2007 21:50

I wouldn't rewrite it muppet. Maybe add a letter explaining how you struggled emotionally after he was born but how much you love him now? As well as a baby book I have a book where I wrote in memories of ds when he was tiny so I wouldn't forget all the little stuff. Maybe do somehting like this now of the positive stuff? Another way round it is to only give it to him when he is old enough to understand and you can explain how you felt and that its an illness and no reflection on your love for him.

Dal if you're keen on a scan then why not ring a couple of places and double check with them that they would respec t your wishes not to find out the sex. Basically though (which I didn't realise before I had it) its a 2D scan and then when they get good view of bits they want to focus in on they press a button and then it turns to 4D. So for about a third to half the time you don't have the extra detail. Which is why its pretty easy to make sure they wouldn't be showing you the boy or girl bits unless you want!

alicet · 01/08/2007 21:51

J20 - sounds like you're having a bit of a crap time all round at the mo honey. You've been a bit stressed and emotional the last few times you've posted which isn't really like you! Sending you big hugs and chocolate xxx

FloriaTosca · 01/08/2007 22:51

Lisa; glad all went pretty well

Welcome Rek21

Muppet; How lovely that you have done a book for your ds.I wouldnt change anything about it either, just add how much he means to you now.

Alice glad the scan was all you hoped for.

J2 hope you get a good nights rest and tomorrow is a better day for you

Thanks all for the sympathy..sadly there isn't much we can do to contest the decision of the coroner; I just wish I had stood up and asked some questions myself....Dads doctors had sent statements of their findings from when they drained his lungs and had scans done and they were considered, but the pathologist is the one who "saw" the affected organs for himself and it was his recommedations that carried the most weight...our lawyer says that when we get to the compensation claim that our own specialists findings will carry more weight and he will count the asbestos threads in a more detailed way (provided that the pathologist sent him a sample that was actually affected)What upsets me is that these findings will not now be included in the general statistics for asbestosis... another lost number...To tell the truth I'm beyond tears, I'd love to cry to let it all out but seem to be unable...oh well tomorrow is another day.

MrsFish · 02/08/2007 08:05

Morning all...

Well I had another crap nights sleep, went to bed at 10pm and was still awake at 2am, too hot, too uncomfortable, heartburn was raging (knew I shouldn't have had the garlic bread for tea, so its my own fault really, Sore throat, cough and that horrible bit of flem that sticks at the back of your throat that you can't blow out, or swallow down (tmi ) just means every time you swallow, your nose blocks up, very annoying. Had a bit of a doze then was awake again at 3.15am, think I must have had a fitful doze then between 3.30 - 6am when was woke by ds waking up. Another doze till 6.45 then woken properly by Ds crying, went into him and he had taken his nappy off and weed on the carpet which had upset him. Now feel like a zombie, luckily he is at nursery this afternoon so I can have a sleep, but there is still 4 hours to keep him entertained before then, Oh and the heartburn is back this morning, all I have had is a small bowl of rice krispies and skimmed milk

Hope everyone else has a better day

Muppetgirl - ditto what others have said, don't re-write the book, just add to it

I kept a diary with ds1, but can't find it anywhere now, very annoyed

TheLadyEvenstar · 02/08/2007 08:50

MrsFish sympathies on the heartburn I went through that for 3 months, have hardly eaten. Just picked when i have had 5 seconds without it. Until i phoned docs and he presriped me the most wonderful thing I have ever had Omeprazole. I have had them for 3 days and been able to eat decent meals each day......its wonderful lol.

dal21 · 02/08/2007 09:07

Morning all -

Muppet - I agree with others - dont rewrite but add to it. Goodness am amazed at all you wonderful mums to be - I havent written anything. Think I will start writing one now - better late than never!

Alicet - thanks for the advice - will have a think. Was too tired to talk fullstop by the time DH got home last night.

Hoping the weather doesnt get much hotter! fingers and toes are crossed.

Have good days everyone.

muppetgirl · 02/08/2007 09:46

Hi all,

Have just got back from supermarket buying quite obviously a pregnant womans survival kit! When I was s student I would buy pracetemol, gin and a mag now it's the largest bottle of gavascon, a packet of 5 doughnuts and the latest heat mag. Oh good god, what has my life come too?

Thanks for all the advice re the book. Talked to dh about it last night and he suggested keeping it with an accompanying letter explaining but that we should get exactly the same one and use the info from the 1st to fill it (the 1st one's not finished which is why I got it out and started reading..) So when he can read he's got all the correct info but when he's older he can have the origional with the explanation. Dh thought it would be good to explain when he's older has ds could have similar problems with his partner (not trying to pre-empt but you never know..)

He said it a little like my 'book' I have -I don't know if you've read any other of my posts but I do post on the depression threads quite often. The one thing that really helped was to write my thoughts and feelings so dh could read it to understand, I could make sense of them myself. My psychologist suggested this but only with a clear direction as to what would happen to it when I didn't need it anymore. (SO it doesn't end up in the loft for little eyes to read..) We're going to have a bonfire one day and the book will go on that. Very cathartic.

muppetgirl · 02/08/2007 10:23

...and have now eaten all the doughnuts!

omg that 5 in 40 mins. That's sooooo not good

dal21 · 02/08/2007 10:25

LOL Muppet - 5 in 40mins....now were these mini donuts? jam filled? sugar? iced? hmmm donuts!

muppetgirl · 02/08/2007 10:27

jam filled.....
Loooaaddddsss of sugar on them.

My record is ten in about, a morning, then blamed my b/f and no -one believed her when she said it was me!!!

Am now reading about charley from bb in heat

MrsFish · 02/08/2007 10:46

Les - I have written that down and will ask my midwife about it, when I see her at 12pm

Muppetgirl - glad I'm not the only one to do that re donuts. Last week I bought a pack of 5 of the custard filled ones and ate them during the morning then I moan about the weight I have put on

muppetgirl · 02/08/2007 10:49

It used to be Mr Kipling's Country slices...

Now it's doughnuts. Though ds and I bought picnic food to eat outside on Tuesday and he chose Jammy Dodgers -the little packets. 4 small biscuits in 1 packet, 7 packets to the bag. He didn't eat his so then I ate them all!!! + 2 packets of skips.

I am turning into a human dustbin!!

MrsFish · 02/08/2007 10:54

Me too, I'm eating crap, no wonder the heartburn is so bad, its just that even if I eat sensibly I still get it, so I think what the hell, I may as well snack on crappy stuff

muppetgirl · 02/08/2007 11:07

I know, I had chilli at the gym the other day and didn't have my gavascon with me. I was in agony until we got home.

muppetgirl · 02/08/2007 11:07

I now have the mahooosive 600ml sized bottle of the stuff and will be decanting it into a smaller bottle to keep on me at all times

ejt1764 · 02/08/2007 11:09

I have the tablets in a funky little pot that I carry around with me everywhere!

dal21 · 02/08/2007 11:14

You do realise that talking about donuts, mr kipling slices and custard filled donuts is equivalent to talking dirty to me during pregnancy. I could be homer simpson right now...am sitting here drooling!

ejt1764 · 02/08/2007 11:16

for me, my porn food at the mo' is sushi, duck in hoi sin sauce wrap (you can get both from tesco, as I do occasionally to treat myself) ...

I fantasise over blue cheese ...
