Hi all.
Just got back from the gym, had a lovely swim and did 20 lengths in 25 mins. I know that won't break any records but I keep thinking at least it's some sort of exercise I then sat on the hot bed for 10 mins which I'm hoping is doing my back some good.

Ds had great fun at the creche and announced he wanted to play with the 'zoo boat' which once interpreted turned out to be the ark with animals -aren't they cute?

We had a healthy lunch and went to the pet shop to get more toys for the dogs (why cant' they make some that last more than an evening?) and as a treat ds got to look at the fish and rabbits. (oh, how I long to be 3 again if that's all it takes to make him happy!!)

We are now in front of big cook little cook whilst I finish off the hat and scarf combo I've made for my friends little boy.

Speak later

muppetgirl · 30/07/2007 13:12

Lisa- Don't feel bad (I know that's difficult) I think the more monitoring you ahve the better iyswim. I know it's apain but at least they're taking you seriously and maybe your mw should have looked into things more deeply....

Hello - hope you don't mind but I have a question for those with other DC's - I know this probably should go somewhere else, but wanted to ask you ladies first! how much tv do your DC's watch?? I've become aware that over the last few months my DS watches more and more - probably due to my total lack of energy and the rubbsh weather but do you think I should be concerned?? I would say he watches maybe an hour in the morning when we're getting up etc and maybe the same (sometimes more) in the pm. Just find that whilst we go out every morning and do things/meet people/ run errands etc by lunchtime I am just shattered. So when he asks to watch something in the afternoon(cbeebies or a dvd), I give in. Bad mother. Would love to hear your thoughts.

lisad123 · 30/07/2007 15:10

I know what you mean. My DD gets up with DH and watches Tv while he gets ready for work. so about am hour then and then after lunch she might watch some more if we are in. I dont time it to be honest. She only ever wtaches children's programmes and some days she watches none or very little.

I wouldnt worry too much 2 hours doesnt sound like he is sat infornt of tv all day and he is getting out of the house. I hate it when children wont let adults change the channel, that when you know the children are in control rather than parents.

Anyway you have reason, and am sure that now the weather is better theres more time in the garden.

hi everyone!

had gtt today.all went ok,apart from being absolutely starving!!!had to go to the phlebotomy dept for blood taking because the mw's couldnt find a vein.so spent a big part of the day walking around the hospital and waiting to be seen!!

also had another scan to check for any more leakages.all ok.baby wasnt playing ball, and decided to lay with her face to my back so they couldnt measure her properly.shes still head down, they said last week that shes on her way to having her head engaged, but thats normal apparently for someone whos had many babies and they said that she can still turn around until her head becomes fully engaged.got another scan next week and if thats all ok,then no more until 34 weeks.

oh they also said that if (and thats a very big if atm!) i get to 38 weeks, she'll weigh around 8lb.which will be my biggest baby!

am eating like a horse now,had mcD's when we left the hosp and im munching my way through a funsize pack of twix atm!

spd is killing me today, after all that walking around the hosp.and am totally knackered.(milkman woke me up at 4.07am!)

seeing mw on wednesday and will get gtt results aswell as my anti-d injection.

anyway,hope everyone is ok!!

Pheebe · 30/07/2007 18:06

Please someone help me...I think I;m addicted to mini kitkats. I've had 5 today and there's three more in the cupboard that I just know I'll eat before bedtime heeeeelllllppppppp.....

alicet · 30/07/2007 18:06

Db ? great to hear you had a fun week away and jealous you?re off again so soon!

Nellie ? try ont to worry about things. Do you have any family who can give you a hand? Same dilemmas here but dh will take time off and my parents can also come and stay if I go for an elective so I?m very lucky.
About tv ? ds hasn?t shown much interest until recently when he watches sport with my dh! Personally I think a little does no harm. He rarely sits down to watch it as he doesn?t have the attention span (only 18 months) but I won?t have a problem with him watching a little especially if it keeps him sweet when this lo arrives! Don?t think it makes you a bad mother!

Lisa ? sorry you are worried about having got mw in trouble but whats important is that you and lo are OK. Hope things get sorted out OK for you and that appt on Wed goes well

Buffy ? sorry you are sore after your trek round the hospital but good news all well on the scan!

We have been to the park this afternoon and then for coffee and muffins ? now does the muffins make me a bad mum! I think a little of anything isn?t harmful?.

ejt1764 · 30/07/2007 18:16

alice - hope you manage to get your sleeping sorted! I had the insomnia very early on (the 3am cravings for bowls of cereal ) ? I hate it when I get that sleepless feeling ? I had it one night on holiday ? and was like a bear with a sore head all the next day!

muppetgirl - take it easy ? it sounds like you?re turning into j20 with all the decorating!

LES - sounds bizarre, but great news on your eviction notice! [hmmm] ? and at the sperm donor?s behaviour! So glad that your ds has your dp ? how does dp feel about adopting ds? I think I?d be over the moon ?

designerbaby - glad you had a good time at Pontins ? it always amazes me that people often seem to think that Christians aren?t allowed to have fun ? and mass catering is never all that great!

Nellie - you?ll be just fine ? do you have anybody nearby to help you with looking after ds after the elcs?
As for the tv, ds watches about an hour in the am and an hour in the pm ? but he tends to play along with the stories (iyswim) ? so isn?t just ?glued?. As long as your ds isn?t in front of it every waking hour, he?ll be just fine ? I do so many things that would get me labelled a ?bad mother? ? including letting ds indulge his Thunderbirds obsession ? but tbh, I think that as long as he?s developing fine then there?s no problem ? his school report talked about his creativity and vivid imagination ? if too much tv had addled his brain, I don?t think that his report would have been so good.

lisad - hoping everything is ok ? good luck with the appt on weds!

buffy - hiya ? hope you?re not feeling too much like a pincushion ? I am fortunate that nobody has mentioned me having to have a GTT ? mind you, I?d probably have argued the toss anyway!

I think madam bean has finally moved from a transverse position ? I?m getting kicks at the top and bottom now ? rather than just around the sides ? it?s not that much of a big deal at the moment where she is ? as long as she stays in a bit longer!

As for the vit k thing, I have to admit that I no nothing about it ? so am looking forward to reading any info you manage to dig up!

As far as the synto is concerned, there is some risk of me bleeding badly after the birth, so we?re probably going to delay the injection, and possibly not have it at all if the level of bleeding isn?t too bad. I?m not so happy with the increased risk of retained placenta ? but realise that I may need the injection to stop me bleeding.

No real news from me at all ? just wanted to catch up with you all ? am still lousy and streaming with this head cold ? am also coughing like a chain smoker ? hopefully it doesn?t go onto my chest, as I?m severely asthmatic and could do without a chest infection!

Right, have to go, dh has just cooked me a lovely tea!

MrsFish · 30/07/2007 18:21

Hope you feel better with your cold soon ejt, I feel really rough too, achy and runny nose and I can feel a tickly cough coming too Of course dh is making more out of his, I think he is trying to outdo me. He's managed to spend most of the day in bed though, whilst I have been shopping and out to MiL's for the afternoon, entertaining ds. I wish I could have spent all day in bed reading

alicet · 30/07/2007 18:48

ejt and mresfish hope you both recover soon! Especially hope your dh recovers mrsfish since that would probably give you an easier life than getting better yourself!!!

FloriaTosca · 30/07/2007 20:05

We went for the scan that should have been the amnio and LO is still big (9-11 days ahead of itself)...head down, bottom up on the right and feet on the left ready to kick off the consultants probe the second it got in range (Johnnie Wilkinson watch your back!)With the fab new scanner we got our first look at his/her face (full on rather than just profile) and he/she looks like Daddy!.. though he/she did keep doing the hand in the face "no photos please" gesture so it was hard to tell for certain.....I'm so glad we didnt have the big needle, but I do wish Dh wouldn't keep saying "I just hope we have made the right decision or "I wish we had tested at 16 weeks"..I had really hoped that he would just accept whatever we got for better or worse like when he chose me..but Ho Hum, Rome wasn't built in a day, we'll just keep taking babysteps one at a time. no doubt he'll be great no matter what when lo arrives.
Mrs Fish! Thanks for the laugh...Dh thinks it isnt as bad as my "oops I've left Catherines address and telephone number on the kitchen work top at home".....5 hours into the flight to New York to visit her!!!...he couldn't have minded that much, he asked me to marry him 4 months later!
LadyES; Fab news about the new flat about the rotten land lord and doubly at useless ex..how lovely if your Dh wants to adopt your ds....one word of caution though (not a terribly important one; emtional stability is much more important that avarice) but a friend was adopted by his step father (happily and sucessfully) but later in life he also became close to his biological father and looked after him until his death only to be disinherited by the state because his father died intestate and in the eyes of the law he was no longer his son...as I said not an important consideration when opposed to love and emotional stability but possibly worthy of consideration if your ex might be worth something in the fuure.
Hope those with colds are feeling a bit better; my ENT consultant swears by drinking lots of water, steaming (with just water), spraying sinus's with sterimar (salt water spray) and gargling with salt water (1 teaspn salt to 1 pt hot water)...simple, though boring but it really does work!
Hi to everyone else!

alicet · 30/07/2007 20:23

Really glad your scan went well Floria! Sorry to hear your dh keeps making comments like that but I guess he's just coming round to a place you've been in for ages....

Was your scan a 4d one by the way? We're going for on on Wed and I can't wait! We had one with ds and it was fantastic - we still have the dvd! Think it will be a wonderful thing for him to see when he's older! Pics really looked like him when he was born too!

TheLadyEvenstar · 30/07/2007 20:57

ARGHHHHHHHHHHH WHATS WRONG WITH ME?????????? I have spent the last 3 hours scouring mothercare and argos for baby items and am lost as to what i need to buy!!!!!!! I could understand if i had not had a baby before lol. Now am in a total state of confusion and lost.....HELP!!!!!!!!

FloriaTosca · 30/07/2007 21:27

Thanks Alicet, you are so right..he is just adjusting to the idea..hopefully soon he'll keep his doubts to himself and then get rid of them altogether...

I dont know what sort of scan it was..it is the lastest machine at St Marys Manchester, it can scan through, for example, the hand in front of LOs face, though it is then too close for a full face picture but the clarity of the normal picture is miles better than the ordinary grainy pictures their usual machines take...it was facinating but we didnt get a photo for ourselves..our consultant was too busy taking interesting shots of kidneys, brain and heart etc....if our worst fears are realised and this LO has inherited my translocation form of Downs, at least all the research we have provided will hopefully help consultants diagnose it more accurately by scan rather than CVB or Amnio in the future.

TheLadyEvenstar · 30/07/2007 21:33

Floria,
Had to laugh at the part of your post "he might be worth something one day" lmao well if ds wanted a drum kit maybe lolol sorry for laughing but hey thanks hunni i appreciated the advice xxxxx

FloriaTosca · 30/07/2007 21:47

LES glad I put a smile on your face

MrsFish · 31/07/2007 07:32

Morning all

LES - if you haven't had a lo for ages YOU NEED EVERYTHING Happy Shopping

MrsFish · 31/07/2007 07:32

Floria - glad your scan went well

muppetgirl · 31/07/2007 08:53

Hi all !
Nellie ?We were getting a little like this especially as we found we were desperate for a lie in at the weekends so we put the telly on an ds watched quite happily. (He?s 3.4 and living room next to our bedroom) WE then decided we were letting him watch too much so now he can play in his bedroom/living room but no telly until after breakfast. After a few days of Kevin the teenager he seems to find that okay. (And it?s lovely to hear his imaginative play ?he really has very bossy trains!!)

Buffy ?Glad the gtt went well as did the scan that must be a weight off your mind!

Pheebe ? lol at the mini kitkats! I ate 2 tins of sweetcorn whilst doing ds?s tea. I think it really could have been anything as I was sooooo hungry!

Ejt - sorry to hear you?re not very well, the weather is supposed to be sunny for a couple opf days which should act as a bit of a pick-me-up!

Mrs Fish ?Dh?s are really quite pathetic! Mine thought he was a hero for having ds ?all afternoon!!!!!!? on Sun. Still, I shouldn?t complain at least I got some sleep?.

Floria ? Wonderful news on the scan, I?m sure dh will stop saying those things when it is nearer the time. I think men do forget that although they are very important in this whole birth thing WE are the ones who have carried them around, felt them move, had our own private chats as our tummy?s dance about?. They don?t have the hormones that we do (is there scope for future medical research??? Give the men the same hormones as us and see what happens! ??)

Les ?Sounds like you?re having a tough time re houses and ex p?s. You must be looking forward to moving sooo much!

Well, we spent yesterday afternoon cleaning as we had a cleaning lady coming to give us a quote (dh could be heard to mutter that ?why do we need a cleaner when all I need to do is book one to threaten to turn up and you start cleaning like a wild banshee?? tee hee) Place is actually quite clean now so very smug with myself.
We?re off to softplay this morning with friends and then football outside this afternoon as it?s lurvely weather here for a change. (?football? involve ds running around like a nutter with me sitting on a chair crotcheting blankets. Much more civilised I think!)
I was on a really good thread about raising boys yesterday I?ll post the link so you can have a look if you have one, or are going to have one, or even end up with one In it they are likened to puppies, which as mine is rolling around with the dogs as we speak I totally agree with

muppetgirl · 31/07/2007 08:54

boys stuff here!

unicorn · 31/07/2007 09:00

Hi all,
I'm 5 years out of this baby lark and am at a total loss as to what is best buggy etc.
There are just so many now - too much choice.
Anyway, hoping to keep costs down on all equipment etc, so any top tips welcome.

(am keeping an eye on For Sale here and ebay - just not sure what I'm looking for!)

Hope all well.

lisad123 · 31/07/2007 09:27

morning all

Wow it is so sunny here right now, might go and sit in the garden later
Tanisha is at nursery today so got some peace today
I have a jane pram which is lovely. Another way to find cheaper baby items in good condition is the NCT nearly new sales. They are good

Im glad everyone is getting some good news lately, like gtt's going well, scans, getting cleaner maybe the hormones have lifted for a short time to give us all a break from being weeping messes, lol.

Hope everyone is well
lisa

j20baby · 31/07/2007 10:46

hi all, didn't post last night as i hgad a long day yesterday getting lost, was nearly an hour late for the meet up, which was lovely, but then i got lost again on the way home, started crying my eyes out doing 60 mph on a motorway with nowhere to pull off, all of a sudden i saw the sigh for Hull, and started crying more, with relief! so i was exhausted when i got home.

spent half an hour trying to get through to the GP surgery this morning, and when i finally got through, my GP isn't even there, my back is killing me at the top, like a burning pain, will pop a cople of co-codomol and see how i go.

have skimmed through, but can't remember what anyone said! agree, you need everything this time, i have bought far too much

well its lovely and hot here too so we're going to meet friends at the local park which has a paddling pool, can't wait to get my swollen feet into it
