I was in natural labour with dd last time, be a bit scarced as didnt know . I felt fine till 4 cm, then started to hurt but not as bad as a section the next day
I hope you get the natural birth you want. I wanted home or water, but my chances of that are nil I just keep telling myself its one day in a day of many happy thimes, so dont let it get to me, but can understand how it effects others more.

Maybe we should do a poll about the birth we want and see how many ogf us get it

dal21 · 26/07/2007 08:27

Morning all! Lisa I think that is a fab idea. It would be interesting to see how many labours match with our hopes and expectations!

J20 - really hope you start to feel better soon! Positive vibes coming your way (along with mild envy that you are already on your mat leave! )

Pheebe - glad your GTT test went ok. When do you get your results?

Hello everyone else - cant keep up with all the posts. Have great days and hope none of you were hit with more recent increased flooding!

WinnieThePooh · 26/07/2007 08:31

Morning all.

I am taking DD to a soft play today, to meet up with a local mum from another site. She is due to give birth to her little girl within a day or 2 of me, so we may be in hospital at the same time.

Got my MW appointment at 1.30pm. DD will come with me, she is looking forward to hearing her little sister's heartbeat. She is then going to her grandparents for the night. DP & I might take advantage and go to the cinema this evening if he is back from work early enough and not got an early start tomorrow..

Lisa, Good news about Peter, here's hoping that he gets the heat he needs soon.

I had a natural birth last time, but was pushing for about 3 hours. If DD had not put in an appearance when she did I think they would have been in Theatre. I want a water birth this time, bu will need to call the labour ward tonight to book in for the talk that I need to attend before they will even consaider letting me have what I want.

I hope everyone has a good day.

lisad123 · 26/07/2007 09:51

Mumpbump · 26/07/2007 11:19

Morning all!

J2O - try steam inhalations with either vicks or olbas oil or something similar. It really helped me when I had a horrid cold a couple of weeks ago and got an ear infection in both ears!

Can't remember what anyone else said!!! I have updated my birth plan from last time. At the moment, I am down for a home birth, but dh would very much prefer me to go into hospital and I do rather think that when you're in labour, you're on another planet anyway so in some ways, it's the person who is fully aware of what is going on who has to be happy. The only change I've made to my birth plan is that I have deleted the bit where I said no epidurals as I had one last time and it wasn't that bad.

For those of you who have to do birth plans, I found loads of examples on the internet which were really helpful.

Ds is super clingy at the moment and I'm not sure if it's because he can tell something is up - ie. his peaceful existence is soon to be shattered by bubba's arrival.

Is anyone else finding this with existing childen?

MrsFish · 26/07/2007 11:34

Mumpbump - Yes ds is being incredibly clingy too.

Well I'm knackered but its my own fault, I sat up till 1am reading Harry Potter (I had to finish it) will hopefully have a nap this afternoon after I have dropped ds off at nursery I have done 2 and a half hours of ironing this morning though so I won't feel too guilty

unicorn · 26/07/2007 11:36

Hi all,

I'm not on MN much these days - so sorry haven't been following the convos here.

I'm now 28 weeks - and generally been doing ok (this is number 3) but because I'm ancient (over 40!!) and have a heart murmur they are keeping an extra watch on me - so being scanned virtually every month - a bit excessive, but I'd rather be safe etc.

Lisa, was it you who got the amby from MN? I'm still keeping an eye out for one (seem to be appearing more on ebay now) as they look rather good - my only concern would be when it is time to move babs to cot - could there be more problems?(as they have got used to the hammock)

Anyway, will try and pop in a bit more often...
Keep well everyone.

lisad123 · 26/07/2007 11:54

hi unicorn

Yes it was me that got the amby nest, mit arrived yesterday.Im still unsure whether to use it as the downstairs sleeping or the upstairs or both. I guess i will see how she does with in. Im a little worried my dd will try and rock her and she will fall out

Someone else on MN had one for sale the other day for £60, dont know if it sold. Im sure you will find one, they arent going as high on ebay right now either. ood luck

Mumpbump · 26/07/2007 12:31

BTW, is anyone else starting to do practical preparation in addition to their birth plans?

I have washed all our muslins that I never really used with ds and have asked dh to get the box of ds' newborn stuff out of the attic at the weekend so I can wash the babygro's. I have put bubba's cot together - although we need that for the nanny's dd anyway, so could justify doing that at an early stage! - and am planning on shopping for labour bag/post birth when my sister is over in two weeks time so we can get her stuff at the same time. It's actually beginning to feel a bit real!!

dal21 · 26/07/2007 13:15

Yup - I have started to do the practical stuff. Nursery pretty much done - and ready for the furniture to go into when it arrives. Other misc stuff is largely sorted too. Have my list of what is left to get and not much more on there! Me and my lists! But I wanted to get this stuff done incase my last trimester became quite tough. So all non essential bits and bobs that we would like to get done before LO arrives will get done if i feel up to it. But not if I don't!

Anyone elses days at work really beginning to drag? I just am not here anymore. Want to be at home doing me bits n bobs! Guess thats the nesting instinct! I will appear on the high internet use report at this rate but oh well!

Mumpbump · 26/07/2007 13:19

My days are really dragging. Work is generally very quiet at the moment, partly due to summer and partly due to our team being overcapacity at the moment. But I have a day of holiday next week and then just over a week the following week, so that should help the days go quicker.

dal21 · 26/07/2007 13:24

Glad I am not the only one! I only have 12 days of work left after today (spead out over 3 weeks) so I dont have it bad at all. But right now when I would rather be at home getting on with odd jobs, I just dont want to be here! Its not that I dont have stuff on...have just recruited a new member to the team, advertising for another and about to handover to the interim head of my team....i am just sooooo over it! Gotta love them preggers hormones! Makes me wander....do you ever return to pre pregnancy state or does it continue after the baby is born?????

Mumpbump · 26/07/2007 13:29

Hmmm. Think my focus has definitely "shifted" since having ds, but I was certainly way more motivated after returning to work than I am now. Just feeling a bit demotivated, as you say, would rather be sorting stuff out at home and, in reality, just don't have enough work to keep me interested at the moment!

dal21 · 26/07/2007 13:54

shall we sneak out mump??? reckon they'll notice???

Mumpbump · 26/07/2007 14:00

I kid you not - if I didn't share an office with someone, I would seriously consider it!

dal21 · 26/07/2007 14:04

which film is it where they wipe memories and replace it with other ones? Men in Black! We need one of dem zappers! ah it is nice to dream isnt it!

buffythenappyslayer21 · 26/07/2007 15:44

hi everyone!

sorry not been about for ages but i think my friend pebbles let you know what was going on.

been for another scan today and they are quite happy that it is the hind waters ive lost.but because of them leaking and because of my babies liking to make early appearances, they are saying it is now highly likely that lo will arrive in the next few weeks,so im on orders to rest (with the school hols and a house move...yeah right!!) and just to take it easy.

had steroid injections for her lungs, just incase she does come early.

got to go back every week now for scans to make sure shes growing and that no more water has leaked.so monday when i go for my gtt i also have a scan booked.

consultant has cancelled my app on the 6th aug,and has said that if lo is going to arrive early, its better that i deliver naturally (to help get fluid off her lungs).but if i get to 20th aug, then she said she will see me to book me a section date for end of sept.

not holding my breath for that one!

had an infection at the top of my cervix, which is waht irritated it into softening, and then everything happened from that.also had a water infection, which was bloody horrible!!

anyway, everything seems to have calmed down now,no more contractions and no leaking sonce the weekened.

anyway, how is everyone else?havent had time to catch up so hoping someone will bring me upto date with everything!!!

FloriaTosca · 26/07/2007 15:48

Hi All

Unicorn; Glad they are keeping a close eye on you, us older gals apparently need it. About the Amby, from what I've read, the baby will have got used to falling asleep in prams and on grannys/aunties bed/sofa etc. when necessary so the transition from hammock to cot shouldn't be too drastic..I hope not..I've got one!

Mump and Dal; I'm feeling really lazy now, listening to you two ..I work p/t from home and haven't got half of what you have both achieved even started!
I suppose I'm putting things off until after this 30 wk scan & possible amnio on Monday...when I am certain we will actually be having this baby I'll get on and do some serious shopping...which seems a silly statement to make when lo is doing aerobics as I type...but I know what I mean even if it doesn't make sense to anyone else.

Has anyone heard anything about Buffy? I do hope everything is ok.

buffythenappyslayer21 · 26/07/2007 15:50

floria....look underneath!!![waves like a lunatic!!!!!]

FloriaTosca · 26/07/2007 15:53

BUFFY!!!!!
Sorry xposted! So very glad to hear you are ok and lo is still hanging on in there. Scary stuff for you though! Do try to do as they tell you and rest...I know , I know, house move, school hols etc ...keep the kids busy by giving them packing to do while you take it easy! Better still read all the posts since your hospital stay..that'll keep you stationary for several hours!
Truly thrilled to have you back!

buffythenappyslayer21 · 26/07/2007 15:56

thanks ft!ive missed being on here!

am laid on settee with dh's prized laptop on my lap!!kids are actually playing atm,so am in shock!!

drove by to have a look at new house, its nearly done, they are on the insides now,so think they will stick to their 2nd week in sept deadline for us to move in!!

how are you?have i missed any gossip??!!

Mumpbump · 26/07/2007 15:58

Hey, Buffy! Pleased to hear that all is well and lo is hanging on in there. Can you pressgang family and friends into helping you so you can rest a bit?

Floria - have you reached a decision on the amnio? Sorry to ask as you must be getting this from everyone! If you do have it, I really hope that it goes okay...

buffythenappyslayer21 · 26/07/2007 16:02

hi mump.im lucky to have dh at home full time now.he gave up work to be dd's full time carer as the physio was getting abit much for me.so hes a help with the kids and my mum has started having the kids on a weekend (2 a weekend!and then they change the following weekend) so that is abig relief.they just keep fighting when they are all together and i can feel my bp rising!!!

MrsFish · 26/07/2007 16:09

Great to see you back Buffy

Well I have had a nap, ds is at nursery and I am relaxing on the sofa catching up with you lot... what I should be doing is getting stuff ready for our hols on saturday, still have ironing and washing to do but not really the energy to do it.

FloriaTosca · 26/07/2007 16:12

Glad the house is looking good...so exciting so much happening in your life...but glad you are resting...I do understand how hard it must be (we moved in November and I've never been so stressed in all my life! and I wasnt even pg then!) Not a lot of gossip from me...life plods on, I get fatter by the day,lo has quiet days just to worry me and then decides to practise drop kicking a la Johnny Wilkinson so I keep getting a surprised "I've been goosed" expression on my face at inopportune moments.
Lisa was hospitalised with an infection and a scarey few days of "false labour" contractions at the same time as you.
J20s daughter ruined her weekends holiday by being a bit teenageresque at the age of 9 and Pheebes' holiday ended up with her having dreadful pains that she thought were the return of her gall stones but fortunately has now had the all clear from the tests so far.
There has been a lot of renewed sickness and weepiness (me included) just about throughout the whole group of us and there was a really heated thread about drinking in pregnancy from an american who came over all "holier than thou brits" and got everyone very hot under the collar...Alicet was brilliant in our defence!
I cant remember the rest off the top of my head..sorry anyone whose important news I left out I'm sure someone with less baby brain than I will update you better!
