Mump I'm stopping on 10th Sept - when I will be 36 weeks pregnant. First week will be annual leave then mat leave will kick in...

Muppet - take him swimming - it will be fun! I love taking ds swimming and he really loves it. Have to say I usually do it at the weekend when there are 2 of us but have done it on my own and its been mostly OK! Great news about your mw appt too - really makes a massive difference when people listen and take your concerns seriously doesn't it? Good luck for consultant appt too!

dal21 · 25/07/2007 13:31

Muppet - sounds as though you had a great appt! what a lovely midwife!! really pleased for you!

I had an appt today - all went fabbo! anti d was nothing to worry about at all! Baby is measuring fine and is still breech. i Asked mw about when I should start to worry about that and she said not until 36 weeks (that is because I am quite tall and baby still has lots of space, differs from woman to woman). Also booked into my birth rehearsal for 6 weeks

Mump - I am actually due at the end of sept (right at the end, hence lurking on this thread too!) and start my maternity leave in less than 4 weeks! whoo hoo, decided only to work up to 34 weeks - but work are being really great and offering me project work from home if I want too....so will see how i feel nearer the time.

Hope everyone else is ok and carpet picnic is a huge success!

alicet · 25/07/2007 13:35

dal glad your appt went well too! What is a birth rehearsal though? Never heard of this before?!

dal21 · 25/07/2007 13:43

Its what my midwife calls it. Basically DH and I and the mw spend a couple of hours going through our birthing plan; walk through our ideal birthing scenario with a little time also spent on what will happen if the ideal scenario doesnt happen. i just cannot believe that it is coming round already! and that I am nearly 31 weeks! sooo exciting!

alicet · 25/07/2007 14:07

That sounds like a great plan dal. My mw offered me the chancew to go through my birth plan with her but to be honest I had spent so much time going through it with other people and dh (including a friend who is an obstetrician) that I didn't take her up on it in the end. But know that people who did found it very helpful. Will also mean you can discuss unexpected things happening that you might not really have considered yourself....

Apricott · 25/07/2007 14:45

Hi all,

Not been on for a few days. Nothing exciting to report. I too am suffering from some unexpected and frankly uncalled-for emotions which I'm putting down to hormones. Also feeling sick most of the time again - horrid.

On the positive side, I went to my 28 week appointment today and everything was fine. I miraculously measured exactly right for dates. Baby is breech, but mw said they're not concerned about position at this stage cos LOs are flipping about so much anyway.

Mump - I'm planning on working up to 7th October - a week before my due date, only 4 days before the first edd I got from a scan. I may be cutting it a bit fine, but I really don't want to 'waste' my maternity leave on time before the baby is here. If I have to change it, I'll be able to, but I'm hoping to get away with it by taking things as easily as possible at work .

Has anyone any news of Buffy?

I'm still clearing my office! Ten years' worth of accumulated papers takes longer than you'd think to sort through!

Take care everyone.

A x

Mumpbump · 25/07/2007 14:47

Wow, Apricott, that is brave of you!! I remember being so knackered in the last few weeks of work last time and that was working up to 38 weeks and using holiday to have one day off in the middle of each week! Still, nice to be on the counting down side of things, isn't it??

lisad123 · 25/07/2007 15:23

afternoon all

I have spent the morning finishing off the harry potter book, and resting well , no more contraction woo yoo.

I hope pheebe ok with her GTT, and glad you had a good appointment muppet.

I was planning to stop work at 35 week, use my 5 weeks AL then most of my materity would have kicked in after bumpy was born. However, have owrked in last 12 weeks and been signed off now until the end of my pregnancy so my mat leave starts at 36 weeks anyway but cant use AL I have to claim it all when my mat leave finishes. Pain but oh well.
My sister (misdee) is coming for dinner as shes bene at the hospital all day visiting peter and she all alone as my mum and dad are looking after the two older girls at our caravan. Thought she might enjoy the company, so hmmmm roast dinner

Hope your all ok

Lisa

Apricott · 25/07/2007 15:24

Brave or fool-hardy!! Time will tell...

MrsFish · 25/07/2007 15:26

Oooh, you chatty lot

alicet - Well I have just woke up from a nice nap. Put ds to sleep at 1.30 after getting back from my friends and went to bed myself. He is still asleep He is the same will have less than an hour in his pushchair/car seat but about 2-3 in bed, he is now coming up to 2 hours, and I am going to get a cup of tea and read some more Harry

I should be doing a pile of ironing ready for our hols... but hey it can wait

Apricott · 25/07/2007 15:27

Good news about the contractions Lisa. And well done with Harry Potter. I kind of lost interest after was it the fourth book - whichever it was I thought the first three-quarters or so should have been cut, the story just never seemed to get going. Enjoyed the latest film though !

alicet · 25/07/2007 17:31

Apricott ? sorry to hear you?re feeling crap. This nausea is awful isn?t it? Mine a little better this week and I think I?m due about a week before you so hopefully you?ll start to feel better soon?. I can understand you wanting to work as late as poss. I had planned that last time too but ended up going off sick as I kept fainting at work! Fingers crossed you can manage it but its great you don?t have any pressure to stay if you?re struggling.

Lisa ? glad you?re better today. How are things going with misdee? Hope you both have a lovely evening.

MrsFish ? glad you managed a good sleep! And good to hear your ds is still doing that after 2 years ? I?m relying on my ds doing that when ds2 arrives!!!

We've been to the park this afternoon again - ds loves it running around after his football! Not quite got the no hand ball idea though but theres time for that I guess! Or maybe he'll be into rugby instead!

FloriaTosca · 25/07/2007 18:31

Mump; Like the haynes manual..perhaps I should get one for dh
Lisa;Glad contractons have stopped, give all best wishes to Misdee I hope Peter is recovering and the transplant happens soon.
Apricott;dont envy you all those papers to clear out and you are very brave working so close to edd but happy for you that 28wk check went so well
I'm off now for God-daughters 16th bday party...(I always said I was too young to be a godmother!)
Have a good evening all

muppetgirl · 25/07/2007 18:32

Hi all,

We didn't go swimming as bumped into friends at nursery and they came for a coffee instead as they are going away for 2 1/2 weeks.

I am definately going to take him swimming tomorrow though. I have found my anxieties have come back a little with new situations but I have told ds now so he will make me go!!

Lisa- My thoughts are with misdee -have a nice dinner

To all those going on maternity as late as possible I'll tell you of my sil. She is definately a career woman who asked me when I started my mat leave with ds1 I told her at 30 weeks as that was when term finished and she asked when I went back and I said 6 months after. To which was astonished and replied 'months?? I was thinking of taking a couple of weeks!'

She ended up finishing work on the friday and having ds on the sunday night. Mat leave -2 days before he arrived!! She tried to go back to work but became such a 'mummy' that she couldn't bear to be away from him. She b/f until he was 6-7 months. It was an amazing transformation to say the least!! She then had dd when ds was 21 months and though life is hectic -she LOVES it!

dal21 · 25/07/2007 18:43

Alicet - well am not pinning too much to the birth plan but it will be good to have some idea of what should happen!

Apricott - sorry you're not feeling great. Wow I feel lazy when I see how early I am stopping! Cannot wait til it starts!

Lisa - fab news that things have settled. Glad that you had HP to keep you company. Now you can start the series all over again and read them all!

I just got back from the cinema and I can highly recommend going to see Hairspray if pure and utter cheese is your cup of tea! John Travolta is fantastic! The whole cast is!

Anyways, have great evenings all.

MrsFish · 25/07/2007 19:20

Well ds didn't wake up till 4.30 so he had 3 hours sleep

DH bought himself the haynes manual with ds1, its quite amusing to read

Muppetgirl - a friend of mine started ML a week before she was due, but ended up being a week early, she finished work 5.30pm friday and gave birth saturday evening

j20baby · 25/07/2007 20:10

Hi all, can't keep up with you lot!

well, my consultant seems to think i'm one of them people that is naturally low in iron, i told her about the breathlessness, rattiness and tiredness, and she said the symptoms wouldn't have just appeared, its the pg, erm well i have been getting them all the way through but when she listened to the baby's hb and said it was fine, even though it was actually the placenta we could hear, but she didn't seem to know the difference i thought i'd just leave it and see how i go, don't think she knew what she was talking about imo, although they have tested my B12 levels and something else, but that was only because i insisted!

am seeing GP tommorrow so i'll mention it to him if i get the good one

i think i may have an ear infection or something on one side, it feels blocked up and i still feel sick a lot.

had dinner at dd's paternal gt grsndma's(all the family gether there on weds) and i ended up spitting a mouthful back on my plate, can't stomach veg's atm, plus, all the snide comments from dd's paternal grandma didn't help, sarky bitch!(sorry for swearing)

sorry for the me me me post again! just can't seem to take anything in, will scan through again to try and remember some stuff

that Leati of the drinks thread has been on a few more and she seems quite nice, maybe the alcohol thing is something she feels strongly about, although i don't agree with her.

j20baby · 25/07/2007 21:08

glad you've had a nice evening Lisa, i can understand how you feel about being made to stay in, thats why i hate letting them know of any problems i'm having, like when i thought my waters where leaking, i just knew they'd make me go in with dd, i was in and out overnight with high blood pressure and protien in my urine for the last few weeks, hated it!

here's the thread about positions in childbirth if anyones interested www.mumsnet.com/Talk?topicid=1365&threadid=361966&stamp=070725210431

Evening all

Thanks for all your kind thoughts today. The GTT was a dodle as it turned out. Had a lovely 2 hours peacefully sitting reading my book . The drink wasn't too bad at all, just like lemon squash but very sweet and blood test don't really bother me too much after last year!

Lisa - I had no idea you were having contractions! Comes from going away for a week and not catchin up properly! Glad you're feeling better anyway. My SIL has been having them on and off from about 17 weeks. She's now just 34 weeks and has been in hospital twice, in the delivery room in fact but things quietened down and they sent here home again. Rest as much as you can.

J20 - can't believe the bad luck you have woth docs . Hope your ear feel better soon.

Sorry if I've missed anyone else's important news. DH is hopping up n down to watch BB and I've only just finished work . I'm self employed so mat leave will start when I go in to labour! And as for a birth plan, I have a rough idea in my head but intend to go with the flow mostly.

Right, DH's head is about to explode have a good evening everyone

pheebe

lisad123 · 25/07/2007 21:40

been discussing birth plans with dh tonight.
We both agree that a request for C section is best. I cant labout on bed because of SPD, but will need to be monitored the whole way, in all likihood. I will not have epidural for natural labour as last one made my BP drop too low and was only ok as in operating table already.
I know it might not be everyones choice, but think its best for me. Least im not like the girl at work who never had kids, butr said she would never have natural birth as she might get a saggy fanny , so would have section silly girl

Hugs
Lisa

j20baby · 25/07/2007 21:42

Lisa-too posh to push me thinks.(her not you )

i am dreading giving birth, but also want to experience it properly, if you know what i mean, was induced with dd and can't remember much apart from that it hurt!
