easywriter, have another scan on the 5th sept. If you look at my profile you can see my bump at 27 weeks

The injections will be given till 6 weeks after I deliver [sob] Todays was painful and bleed slightly. I feel sick just before MIL turns up to do it, we are adjusting the time slightlyn each day so that when the kids go back to school, we can go to MIL after the school run and its easier then.

DH has been told (by me!! ) that the baby's room must be sorted ASAP. Atm its a tip.. and full of stuff from when we moved the kids rooms around. He has just 4 more days when DS and DD1 are at playscheme to do it... ha! bet it doesn;t happen..

sparklygothkat · 13/08/2007 11:23

Oh I also have to have the GTT on friday, thanks to my mum and MIsdee having diabetics...

littleoldme · 13/08/2007 11:54

Hugs to those of you having to endure tests and injections.

Choudru - hope your appt goes well tomorrow.

Easy - LOL at the prospect of your boobs causing and international incident.

Just had a bit of neurotic panic - yes another one. I'm sure I read that folic acid supplements only needed to be taken for the first 12 weeks. I stopped taking them at about 16 as the iron in the multi vits was causing me some 'digestive discomfort'. I've just read something else saying that FA should be taken all the way through. What say you wise ladies?

RGPargy · 13/08/2007 12:14

Sparkly - your bump is impressive!! At least you LOOK pg!! I'm still convinced i look like a pie eater to strangers!!

Littleoldme - I've heard that you should take them all the way through too. I personally am still taking mine and still have another 2 boxes to go yet! They're so expensive so i'll be buggered if i'm going to waste my money by not taking them!

I'm sure everything is fine tho - you took them at the beginning and that's when it's most important.

Easywriter · 13/08/2007 13:06

Love your bump SGK!

I think you can take folic acid all the way through but the first trimester is especially important.

Easywriter · 13/08/2007 13:07

Talked to my MW not long ago who said she'd support my decision to take the GTT and still go for a home birth whatever the outcome.

I LOVE her!

sparklygothkat · 13/08/2007 13:15

lol when I took the kids to the SN playscheme, which is only on during the main holidays, lots of the mums couldn't believe my bump as last time they saw me was when I was about 10 weeks and had no bump at all. This is my biggest bump of all. When pregnant with DS I didn't show hardly any. I have visions of me going further than ever before and having a HUGE bump by the end of it..

Littleoldme - I htink the general advice on folic acid is just to take it during first trimester as that's when all the major development happens. I've been advised to tak eit all the way through because of my bp, some people believe it may reduce the risk of pre-eclampsia BUT that is only a theory I think.

Got a high chair free from work yesterday as we're getting rid of some, I chose the one that's barely been used. The nursery is getting very crowded now...

littleoldme · 13/08/2007 20:40

Thanks for advice everyone. Seems like I took it when it really mattered and I have a good diet - there are plenty of vitimins in Malteesers -right?

Our neighbour had her baby on Saturday. He's huge!! He's too big for any newborn stuff so they are passing it on to me - bless 'em.

Had to resisit spend lots of money on sleepsuits in next today. I'm getting a bit bored of seeing white and blue everything. Not that there's anything wrong with that but I do want the little chap to have some variety. Any way they have some great colours. Managed to resist but not sure for how long.

Not sure about breast pumps - are they a necessity or a vaguely comic torture device. I'm struggling to work out what I'll need from what a money grabbing poular highstreet baby goods outlet want to sell me. I'm not tight - I just live in Yorkshire.

SPD much easier today.I think there is something in chocolate which helps it

Pelvic floor exercise reminder everyone.

sparklygothkat · 13/08/2007 21:53

have been doing my pelvis floor exercises, still manage to piss myself when I sneeze..

iris66 · 14/08/2007 06:33

I just wish I could do a whole, bladder emptying wee more than once a week!!!! LO seems to squash it in half so I'm always on the verge of desparation. Though that, in itself, is helping my pelvic floor I think ( and I hope!!!)

Easywriter · 14/08/2007 08:38

Hi all, I'd like to add a new reminder to the list.

EPA - Omega 3 oil!

It's good for you, your brain, skin, hair etc etc.

It's converted by your body to DHA and that's what babies need in the last trimester for brain development.

Also, there's some evidence (though I don't think it's hard scientific evidence yet) that it helps stave off PND.

Look for high strength, pure varieties or just eat lots of fish but it's a really good supplement for the third trimester.

littleoldme · 14/08/2007 09:00

Easy - i've been taking omega 3 supplements. You have to be careful though as many contain levels of vit A(from fish liver) that are too high for pg.

Equazen do one that's suitable ; it's quite pricey though, about a tenner for 30caps.

Was up at 3am and couldn't go back to sleep. LO kicking like mad. Think I'm going to spend the day going wibble on the sofa

I'm having a vegging out day today. Need to pop into town for some sausages later but apart for that dd and I are staying in and vegging out. We're both fairly tired

Easywriter · 14/08/2007 09:55

I knew I should have got on line, I was also awake in the small hours.
I feel really tired now though (had a little power nap a while ago!).
My DD's are having a friend for a sleepover. I hope they break the habit of their short lives and decide to sleep rather than giggle for 4 hours after they're put to bed!

iris66 · 14/08/2007 10:07

another one awake early here too - started feeling queasy with all the kicking around 4 so got up It's pouring with rain here so I'm hoping to just mong around too

I took mumomega & pregnacare religiously throughout pg & bf with DS. I keep forgetting with this one Thanks for the reminder Also - for those worried about iron levels - if you drink fresh orange juice when you have anything with iron in (ie meat/green leafy veg) the vit C helps you to absorb the iron better.

Choudru - good luck with your appointment today.

Littleonldme - it's scientifically proven that chocolate is good for you

RGPargy · 14/08/2007 10:57

Morning everyone!

Is anyone else starting to feel REALLY tired again now? The last couple of days i have been entering doze mode again. I woke up this morning with a slight headache and feeling really really tired. Still feel knackered now! Bubbah has been really quiet the last few days too. Seems that as soon as i hit 24 weeks, she was kicking me all over the place and i was loving it! But the last few days have been really quiet. Perhaps she's changed position and is kicking my anterior placenta so that i cant feel it, eh?

I'm taking a note of the movement times today, just to put my own mind at rest. I've just done the cold water thing, but unfortunately i cannot lie down as i'm at work. I'll just have to use my back up method - giant chocolate buttons.

Failing that, i'll pop to Tesco at lunchtime and get a bottle of lucozade and a mars bar and have a wonder around for a bit. That should get her off her lazy behind!

Whoops - didn't mean to put my ramblings in the middle. That's lack of sleep for you.

Got up early too as having carpet fitted today. Just phoned and they aren't coming till this pm. GRRRR.

Iris - I'm thrilled that my anecdotal evidence on the the efficacious nature of chocolate is backed up by scientific research.

RG - I'm bloody knackered too.
