Hmm. I have an old short dress that I really like, but which is falling apart, which might be good for labour. I'll probably just wind up in the nude most of the time, though.

All right, I'm off to cram things into bags. I'm flying to Ireland today/tonight to stay with my boyfriend (baby's father) for three weeks so we can think better about how, when, where, and if we're going to shack up and do the whole relationship, baby-raising thing together. Massively stressed out, even though of course I'm looking forward to seeing him. Not so sure about his family, from what he's said about them. Bleh, too much pressure!

RGPargy · 20/08/2007 13:57

Ugh, pressure eh? Who needs it!!

At least enjoy your break Aiki. Ireland is a beautiful country (so i've heard!).

ARSE!!!!! The antenatel clinic just phoned me, my GTT results are too high!! Because I had the steriod injection in between the test, they think its messed up the result, so I have to have it redone on thursday... arse arse arse!!!!

RGPargy · 20/08/2007 14:08

Sparkly - well at least they know why it's too high! Better luck for Thursday!

sarahloumadam · 20/08/2007 14:24

Sparkly you must feel like a pin-cushion!

sparklygothkat · 20/08/2007 14:27

am fed up with needles!!! can't believe i have to go through that all again

LizzieO · 20/08/2007 16:37

Hello all

Hope your getting thru Moanday !!!!

Poor SGK i hate needles too and have had to do GTT and AntiD and routine bloods all in the last two weeks, its s'not funny is it !

Have made some progress on nursery (i use the term loosely as its just a very small room filled with a large amount of crap) but lovely DH has started shifting computer stuff out...and.......we chose new upstairs carpet at weekend (have had manky bare floorboards for last two years) i am genuinely excited about it.....how sad but i don't care, its going to seem like bloody luxury and therefore also means we have to move everything out of upstairs rooms and have sort out

Also bought a 'few bits' from mothercare which totalled £100 i couldn't believe it !!! literally a couple of their oh so sexy nighties, a nursing bra, some mat pads and breast pads, and a couple of bits for DS, oh and baby gro and vest for LO

getting quite excited about it all now though also a bit daunted as to how i'll cope with two,

RG Pargy - how do you feel as its been 17 years since your last baby hasn't it

Pixiefish · 20/08/2007 17:03

haematologist on Wednesday for me where I find out whether he thinks a csection would be safer for me or not.

RGPargy · 20/08/2007 17:04

Lizzie - Yes, it's been 17 years since DS was a baby, but i'm feeling really really excited about this LO. Even DS is secretly excited i think as he asked if she ws kicking the other day and then asked about names. Bless!

FCH · 20/08/2007 17:27

Hello all,

Well, back at work after 2 weeks off with DH. Had a hormonal 5 minutes yesterday att he thought of driving all the way back up here for the week but have just done a quick count and once you count in the bank holiday etc I really only have 32 working days to go. Roll on 5 October I say!

Anyway - it is brilliant to catch up with what everyone is doing. I should have been taking notes while I was reading to comment on everything, but hello to the new people, lots of sympathy to all those needing injections - I hate needles too (and have to keep explaining to well meaning people who tell me I can't have an epidural at home that there is no way I could even consider letting someone stick a needle in my spine - I have to lie down and look the other way for jabs for goodness sake!) I can't believe you are being so good about it, I hope all is going well for the housemovers, and I'm generally glad to hear that life is going on.

Right - off for a nap now but look forward to catching up with you all in the morning!

Hi all

Loopy - congratulations on DD's walking! So many milestones and so many proud moments eh I can't believe I missed so many with DD (was working full time 5mths - 14yrs) so I truly relish them with DS now (were at the "new words almost daily" stage). Blimey that must have been so hard when you had DD with DH away so long - I'll be asking for tips on how to cope come January

Sparkly - so very for you over the repeat GTT (I've no results as yet on today but came home in a denial mood & had a mahoosive cooked brekkie with tons of thickly buttered toast I was so hungry) will keep my fingers crossed for you.

LizzieO - nursery - eek! all this talk of decorating & sorting has made me realise we have nowhere to actually put this baby (and there was I just pondering where to put it's clothes!!) That said it'll be in with us for the first 6-8 months or so, so at least there's some breathing space.

Aikigypsy - hope you have a lovely (and, more to the point, stress free) time in Ireland

sparklygothkat · 20/08/2007 21:52

My mum has said she will come with me for the GTT, I have to be there at 8:30am, have a midwide appointment at 11:15 so if they start it straight away I should be ok. Told them that it has to start as soon as I arrive or I will miss my MW appointment..

jetgirl · 20/08/2007 22:35

Loopy - so happy for you with your proud mummy moment I had one today too, my DD did a poo in her potty for the first time...which she then removed with her hands and put on the floor . She was very pleased with herself!!

Reading everyone's preparations has made me realise just how little we have done. heck, I've started my Christmas shopping, but haven't done any baby shopping yet.

Growth scan today went well. I actually saw baby's face which was amazing, it looked like a real baby this time, not just the slightly alien looking creature we saw at the 20 week scan. Rather stupidly I exclaimed 'It's a baby!' when the sonographer showed me, I mean, what else was it going to be?!

Loopy - as it stands at the moment, yes - for 3 months DH is due to go on a trg course as part of a job change (there is a very slight chance he could stay where he is though so he's chasing that at tha mo.

iris66 · 21/08/2007 06:46

Pixiefish - good luck with the haematologist today

He should be able to confirm everything by the end of the month (I'll not hold my breath though - thinks have changed at the last minute before so there may yet be hope [smile) I agree with you on the total absence though. DH is away alot anyway ((up to 6 weeks at a time) & after the first few days you do get into a routine. It'd drive me nuts if he came home every w/e, I'd be on my knees. Though I do wish I had family closer & (really selfishly) that DD wasn't going to uni just yet)

RGPargy · 21/08/2007 10:33

Sparkly - good luck today!

I've also got a GTT on the say day as a midwife appointment. The MW booked it for me. I've got an 8.30am GTT booking and a 9.30am MW appointment. Do you think i'll be to-ing and fro-ing from the hospital? i.e. bloods taken at 8.30am, back to the docs for the mw and then back over to the hospital for the rest of the GTT? That's alot of running around for me and it certainly wont help my BP!!

I might have a word with the MW about it, what do you think?

RGPargy · 21/08/2007 10:33

Oh and sorry for those who's DPs and DHs are going away when the babies are little!!

Pixiefish · 21/08/2007 11:04

do you think we'd better start another thread- this one's taking ages to load. I'll start a new one now and then come back to link to it from here
