@Megan2018 I've been refraining from buying things but have got some of the bigger stuff - pram was on sale, wicker moses basket + stand + bouncer were second hand for a tenner and have ordered my changing bag from amazon but not bothering with clothes/nappies/other littler things for now!!

I just couldn’t bear to have anything like that in the house yet! @AnnieAR

I was given some clothes unexpectedly this week and DH has put them in loft as it freaked me out looking at them.

I have been looking on ebay etc to see how much some things are going for to help with planning though, and will go to the local NCT events to get some bargains.

@Megan2018 our stuff is being stored with my partners mum so I don't have it around where I can see it! I would struggle else I think 😅

@Megan2018 we've said the same. Although I did cave and bought 4 white babygrows that were actually mislabelled in the next sale reduced from £22 to £6!

DH is off on the day of my scan (and MIL is having Dd) so we're thinking of making a day of it, going for lunch and a little bit of shopping (all being well of course). We have most of the big stuff and if it's a girl we really don't need much at all. If it's a boy we'll need a few clothes to start us off. I can't remember how much of DD's stuff is neutral so I really need to get it all out and have a look. But I'm putting that off until after my scan!

I didn't want things in the house with dd either. But I did have a bag of clothes in the cupboard upstairs that I would get out and fold up every now and again 😂 I was so pleased to get to around 36 weeks so I could start washing tiny baby clothes! Ah the excitement of your first... this time I'm dreading washing it, drying it, folding it... all with a 3 year old helping!

I've currently got a Moses basket stand and a bouncy chair stuck in my lobby because it won't fit in the loft hatch and it will stay there completely in the way until we move next month.

I have not been following these threads well enough, but I’m checking back in!

Got a lovely new changing bag from my one year old for mother’s day, I’ve been using a rucksack but if I need to back carry him it’s a pain, so this one is an interchangeable shoulder bag/rucksack.
Had it’s first outing to Chester Zoo today and worked well.

I’ve been getting a lot of bump pain but I assume it’s from lugging DS about. Seeing the midwife on Friday so will mention it then but can’t reallt avoid lifting him.

Will now read the other pages as I’ve only skimmed page one, but hope everyone is well

@db92 I've had the same this week too, just s tenderness in the lower tummy, a bit like that feeling the week before a period. But no cramping or anything so sure it's nothing to worry about. I've suddenly started showing a bit so probably just all the stretching and growing!

I heard it's recommended to sleep on your left but no idea why?! Luckily that's my natural position anyway and the only way I'm ever able to sleep

I think I’m a bit odd in that I don’t find the baby stuff all that interesting tbh, I don’t even find the baby clothes all that cute. Probably why I’ve left it so late!
I see the baby stage as something to get through - so our purchases are going to be functional. But the toddler/kids stuff excites me much more! I can get very silly over mini tweed hackets and tiny riding boots but babygrows just look frightening....

We ordered the pram and carseat today as well as a Sleepyhead with the rose print. It was £15 more expensive than the plain white and DH was a bit Hmm until the woman in the shop said the print hides stains better and then he was all "take my money". The shop will build and store it all until we need it, so don't need to worry about keeping it in the house.

My DSis just had no.2 who will be six months when this LO is hopefully born. She has promised us a lend of her bedside crib, baby bath, moses basket and steriliser which saves us a good bit which I have now spunked on a pram. I have a drawer with 2 neutral pram blankies, a cellular cot blanket, 2 neutral babygrows, 2 packs of white vests and a little outfit which I bought to tell DH we were having a girl. Believe it or not this is incredibly restrained for me!

@Bunnymummy89 that sounds the same as what I'm having. No cramps at all just a constant soreness, almost like a bruise. I feel less worried that others seems to be experiencing the same sort of thing. I've heard the same about left side sleeping. Strangely it was my usual position but now find it uncomfortable!

We're also waiting until our 20 weeks scan until we buy anything. 4 weeks to go!

Have many of you found out the gender? We're undecided.

Hello everyone!

I lost you all for a while. I'm 15 weeks now and having family over for a Chinese tonight. I'm thinking of having a small glass of wine or maybe a coors light? What do you think has anybody else?

db92 · 30/03/2019 18:45

@Megan2018 I didn't realise you could find out before 16 weeks- that's amazing! I have a very strong feeling it's a boy but I know a feeling doesn't mean much.

@db92 we had a sexing scan last weekend as our trust won't disclose sex at the anomaly scan and we all wanted to know.

@ShowerTheHorse I've had one glass of wine the last two weekends when we have been out for meals. I'm happy to have one with a meal, the guidelines allowed a few units a week when I had the older two. I know not everyone agrees but I don't have a problem with one occasional glass.

Not sure if i have an ear infection Sad in a lot of pain and pain killers are barely touching it. Been like this two days now and feel rubbish. Will phone gp Monday morning if no better.

I haven't bought anything yet and have said not till after next scan. Less than three weeks. We have some things already left from dc4 though. The cot is already up as dc4 recently moved into a bed and seemed pointless to take cot apart now we are having another!

@ShowerTheHorse the evidence for avoiding booze altogether is very flimsy! Basically, if you are having a modearate amount, reasonably slowly (Eg a glass or two over the course of an evening/afternoon, with food), your liver processes it and it doesn't have a chance to get to the baby at all. Obviously doing shots and downing yards of ale is going to overwhelm your liver, and is therefore more likely to affect the baby. The advice changed to total abstinence based on no evidence, just that they obviously can't start doing trials where they ask some women to drink and others not to! And also there is a tendency for the guidelines not to trust that women have common sense, and will stick to the moderate amounts advised rather than go out on the lash...

Oh no @IVEgottheDECAF ! That's about the one thing you've not had yet!!!

I'm feeling a bit less queasy, 13+5 now. I've been enjoying the odd coffee, and swig of beer with curry- both of which had seemed totally revolting a few weeks ago. Still wiped out though! Had a lie in this morning, a nap this afternoon, and I'm ready for bed now...

So I wasn't going to get a pram until after 20 week scan but was at my mum's today who is a total ebay obsessive. She showed me an icandy peach double that's probs about 30 mins from me. It had about 5 mins to go with no bids so I said well it's worth just entering the lowest bid, guessed they would have set a reserve but nope! So I just bought an icandy double for £250 which I feel like is a mega bargain!! Very pleased!

TheCraicDealer · 30/03/2019 20:28

boodles101 that's a great deal! And if you don't like it for whatever reason you can pass it back to your eBay obsessive mum to pass on Grin

There's a can of rhubarb cider in the fridge that's been staring at me since January. I was going to have it after reading DustyDoorframes' post and then I remembered I have a full bottle of 0% sparkling rosé, so I'm pretty happy rn. Just don't do what my DM did and have creme de menthe to help with your heatburn Hmm

Anyone else got random itches btw? I have insanely itchy side-boob and now my scalp has got dry and itchy.

Over the last few days I've been seeing and hearing a lot of pregnancy announcements for people irl who are also due in September. I knew it was a busy months for births but it's actually crazy!

I’ve opted to not drink at all, mainly because it is doing me the world of good to stop. I drank quite a lot before getting pg-a good 3 bottles of wine or more weekly so a detox is well overdue!
I am not missing it at all yet.

boodles101 · 30/03/2019 20:46

I'm not a big drinker so don't really miss it that much. Other than the occasional glass of wine after a stressful day at work.
I'm off to a hen do next weekend and that will be strange not joining in with all the drinks, but I get awful hangovers so I won't be missing that!!

I had the odd glass with my first but don't fancy it this time around

Is anyone else absolutely huge? I'm getting a bit anxious about how big my bump is... could this be an indication of a problem?

Report
DustyDoorframes · 30/03/2019 21:15

Hah love your mum's creme de menthe craic! And it reminds me, I need to pick up some minty gaviscon. I'm sure that was only in the third trimester last time, this time I'm still queasy, but already getting that refluxy heartburny feeling too...

iano most people get bigger sooner on subsequent pregnancies, I wouldn't worry. Have you got your 16w appointment coming up? Your MW can measure your bump and reassure you!

I’m glad people are buying stuff! I’ve bought a sleep next to me cot, pram suit, 4x baby grows, xmas baby grows in NEXT sale, little pack of leggings. Mums bought a rocker from mama and papas in the sale. I really want to get Ollie the owl and a sleepyhead deluxe but am waiting for things to go down in price in some sales?! (Doubt sleepyhead will)! I can’t afford to get it all in one go so prefer to spread out the cost.
