Is it too early to get my furniture? Basically 21 weeks and had the 20wk scan. The furniture I have my heart on sale is 25% off but should I wait?

Also yes I’m emotional too. Just started crying tonight for basically no reason

Littlehouseinthebigcity · 17/04/2019 21:01

@Bunnymummy89 I'm exactly the same, increase in being sick the last few days and also have been ridiculously up and down! It's really frustrating, and fighting to not let it reflect in the way I relate to my DD! She's 18 months so doesn't get it at all.

Bunnymummy89 · 17/04/2019 21:07

Apparently after a positive 16 week check chances are very good so I'd guess now as good a time as any Hsunshine.

Apparently our babies are having a big growth spurt around this time so maybe that explains all the emotions.

Pregnancy in general must be tough with other little people to look after but I'm sure you are doing great, hope you feel better soon!

IVEgottheDECAF · 17/04/2019 21:29

After a good 20 week scan i am up for buying anything

Dyra · 17/04/2019 22:04

Guess I'm a little late to the party, but please could I join you all? Grin

Decided to (finally) take a wander out of the Pregnancy forum and stumbled across this one. Lovely to see an active thread with ladies also due in September. I'm 17 weeks with my first and due 25th September. Though I fully expect bubs will decide to hang around and make their grand exit in early October instead....

TheCraicDealer · 17/04/2019 22:32

I'm due the same day as you Dyra! Welcome to the group!

kyles101 · 18/04/2019 06:36

I've woken up with a terrible cold and feel pretty dizzy. Excellent, just in time for bank holiday weekend.

Is it normal to feel like my pelvis is being pulled apart? It's felt like it for the last few days...?

KnobJockey · 18/04/2019 07:00

Oh Kyles, I've had this this week, it's terrible isn't it? Yesterday my crotch felt like it was burning when I tried to sit down, stand up or cross my lags, while my bum felt like I'd been sat on a wooden school bench for 3 weeks.

IVEgottheDECAF · 18/04/2019 07:45

20 weeks today!

Scan this afternoon!

Dd had told me atleast eight times already today that she wants the baby to be a girl. So she can have a sister. No pressure there then ...

If crotch discomfort continues or worsens you might want to speak to your gp or mw as it could be the start of spd. Some discomfort is normal however just down to weight of baby etc. If it is spd you want a physio referral asap as the wait can be huge, i have my first appointment next week and my referral was sent about 11 weeks ago.

Things like crossing your legs are a no no with spd. If you think you might have it there is lots of info online which can show you how to minimise pain.

Welcome to new people!

Stroan · 18/04/2019 08:00

@kyles101 that's a good description!

I have the same and remember it at this stage with DD. It didn't turn into SPD for me, although obviously it can. Maybe just everything starting to stretch and relax?

Where is the extra energy you are supposed to get in the 2nd trimester? I'm actually sleeping really well just now but still so tired all the time

Karigan195 · 18/04/2019 08:07

I had to work until just gone midnight last night. Feel shattered this morning but DP just woke me up with a cup of tea.

IVEgottheDECAF · 18/04/2019 08:14

Ive definitely been feeling more pressure down there lately. A really heavy feeling. But my muscles are fucked!

kyles101 · 18/04/2019 09:14

Reassuring that it's fairly normal. Hopefully I'm just being a wimp and it doesn't turn into anything more. Have to sleep on my side now though and that hurts my hips too. The joys. If it's not SPD does it get better soon or is it like this til the end?

I've come home from work, I feel so silly as I'm sure it's just a cold and sore throat but works been so mental I've just been focused on getting to this bank hol weekend and some decent time off so to wake up feeling shitty was more than I could take apparently. Boss has been really good about it though, I think mainly coz I burst into tears when he asked what was wrong. Getting everything ready before I leave seems like an impossible task right now too.

Good luck with the scan ivegot!

Lavellan · 18/04/2019 09:18

I basically had 5 days of bad PMT last week. Low mood, being nippy with husband, crying for no reason. Like one eve I made a cup of tea and then went to lie down in bed and he said "no, sit on the sofa otherwise you'll forget about your tea" (he's right) and I sat down and just silently wept while drinking my tea. So weird.. I seem to have come out of it again now. Grin

challengeyourreality · 18/04/2019 10:24

Hi everyone, have come on to see how you're getting on, will go back and read the messages until now.
Update for me - had my 20 week scan, it's a girl. Nothing out of the ordinary to report about the baby, I however have a myoma (4x4cm) which the baby is sharing my womb with Confused Anyone else have this? Had a very small bleed this week too but my midwife said it is very common at this point due to the amount of blood flowing down there and not to worry.

Dyra · 18/04/2019 10:47

Thanks @TheCraicDealer! Grin Feels far away, but already over halfway through April and the halfway mark rapidly approaches.... January seems so long ago now.

I seem to be getting glimpses of varying pregnancy related aches and pains for a few days. Last week I had left sided pelvic pain, then right sided pelvic pain. This week I started out with tailbone pain, now it's nosebleeds! The joys of the second trimester seem ever more like a lie. I had energy for all of two days. All gone now.

Good luck with your scan later @DECAF!

TheCraicDealer · 18/04/2019 11:29

I actually feel great, I've been really lucky. Had two colds which were shit, but just some nausea and food aversions before 12w with no sickness. Bit tired, but I'm always tired anyway I've had sciatica for years and it's not been playing up, and my physio told me before I'm a prime candidate for SPD because of my pelvic position- not a hint of anything like that yet. I'm not in great physical shape so I fully expected this to knock me for six tbh.

Having said that, things can change quickly and I know it might be a completely different story next week!

Megan2018 · 18/04/2019 12:33

@TheCraicDealer
Snap - I feel fine.
Have had the odd cold and still sick when teeth brushing but feel right as rain the rest of the time. Plenty of energy.
As a golden oldie I was expecting much worse. But obvs this could all change any minute!

I usually suffer with chronic tension headache and migraine and dreeadul hayfever. All absent for now.

I reckon it is giving up booze as I was a bit of a drinker before - my body has a new lease of life!

BridgetJonesDaiquiri · 18/04/2019 12:43

@kyles101 I’m starting to get that too - it feels like my undercarriage is going to fall out sometimes. Lots of pressure. I had this last time round at about 20 weeks (we went to Vienna for a mini break and I felt like I had to keep sitting down or the pressure was too intense) but it disappeared and didn’t come back after a few weeks. Hoping for same this time! Otherwise can you buy some kind of supportive undercarriage device?!

db92 · 18/04/2019 13:08

No second trimester energy here either! Just a seriously increased appetite...

Also a very achy lower back- anyone else experiencing this? I know it's probably pretty common but am surprised it's happening this early? Just cannot ease it or get comfortable Sad

DustyDoorframes · 18/04/2019 13:32

I'm still feeling rough, and knackered. But definitely much better than before- I'm cooking quite happily which was totally out last month.
I've also grown out of my first piece of mat clothing I think- a skirt which was a stalwart through to 7-8 months last time, and I'm only 16 weeks... wearing it today and it in NOT COMFY.
@db92 I get that unless I go to pilates every week (pregnant or not, but it's definitely more critical in pregnancy). Our poor bodies!

TheCraicDealer · 18/04/2019 13:43

Eugh you've just reminded me to look into pregnancy Pilates. I did it off and on before I got pregnant and didn't enjoy it, but it did help my back big time.

Karigan195 · 18/04/2019 14:11

I have the lower back pain. Also still getting sick but now certain that’s it’s when I just carry on doing the crazy stuff we do anyway without allowing for being pregnant. Definitely tiredness inflicted

KR30 · 18/04/2019 14:23

Hi all, thought I would pop my head in and join. First timer here due 22nd September.

I have a crisis, I have been offered a job from a health trust waiting list (I forgot I was on) I just don't know what to do. It is a slight pay cut and going from private sector to public. I am so confused about how the maternity allowance works as I assume that is what I would be on if I took it. I have been in my current job for 12 years so I think I will qualify for it but the fear of the unknown in this situation is scary and stressful and part of me also just wants to stay in my known bubble as I know whats happening here and when I am going off and when my cover is starting etc.

Ahhh!

DustyDoorframes · 18/04/2019 16:47

welcome @KR30 ! You would definitely qualify for maternity allowance, but it's just under £150 a week, so not lavish...
