Lovely news on all the anomaly scans! Had ours today too - baby is a little girl!! We already have a little boy, can’t believe it! Her skull measured about a week behind - although the sonographer said he wasn’t concerned, has anyone had experience of this? My little boy was always measuring ahead so this is new territory and is a little unnerving!

DustyDoorframes · 17/04/2019 14:54

Aaaah congrats scan ladies!! Still over a month til mine...
@Tefiti2 one week off is a tiny difference in reality, if they are not worried I wouldn't worry.

boodles101 · 17/04/2019 15:22

Congrats on the scans ladies.
I had my first consultant appt this morning. Wasn't anything special and the man was more interested in my unusual surname than actually giving me any new info about twins! Then after saying scan from every 4 weeks at 20 weeks, he said he will book the next one at 28 weeks. So I said well what about 24w and he just said he wasn't concerned as I have the lower risk twins. I was in and out within 10 mins.

IVEgottheDECAF · 17/04/2019 16:19

boodles are you not being seen at all between 20 and 28 weeks? That seems crazy for twins

Megan2018 · 17/04/2019 16:29

@boodles101
I guess it is great they consider you to be low risk, but its a worry when they don’t seem very interested! How do you feel? Will you get a MW apt at 24 or only 28?

boodles101 · 17/04/2019 16:39

I have a midwife appt at 20 weeks and I would assume she will book me another one at 24, or at least I will ask for one anyway. Then can see the Consultant at 28.
I'm feeling much better than yesterday thanks! DS slept til after 6 this morning then had a 2 hour lunch nap so guess he's catching up from all the early starts. I was weighed at the hospital and I'm about 2kg away from what I weighed in labour with him Shock I'm getting so big!

Megan2018 · 17/04/2019 17:09

So the ad has just gone up online for my maternity cover! Feels really weird to see it.
And makes me a bit panicky as if we don't make it to 24 weeks at least then there will be no mat leave....I know that is a dreadful worry to have but I just feel tempting fate! Silly.

TheCraicDealer · 17/04/2019 17:28

boodles my midwife was saying about being a twin too when going through my history- she and her DTwin were over 8lb each and combined were nearly 18lb. I was nodding and thinking that had to have been a case of undiagnosed gestational diabetes if nothing else!

I ordered some bundlers from JL which were reduced to £6 each. That's me until after 20w, although I was sorely tempted by a Joie travel cot with changer for the in-laws' house which is down to £70 in Boots. Worth joining their parenting club if anyone has a Boots card already, you get 10 points per £1 spend on baby stuff.

IVEgottheDECAF · 17/04/2019 17:33

Ive not used bundlers before but might give them a go this time

boodles101 · 17/04/2019 17:49

thecraicdealer wow over 8lbs that huge. I'm on a twins group on fb and alot of the ladies there had 6 or 7lbers. I'm only petite so not really sure I'd have enough room for them!! Saying that DS was 8lb2 which was alot bigger than I'd expected seeing as both me and DH were 5lb and are now average height and slim.

Hsunshine · 17/04/2019 18:07

@megan2018 when are you planning on leaving? That seems awfully organised...

Megan2018 · 17/04/2019 18:28

Starting mat leave 1 Sept, but will take 2 weeks leave from mid Aug. My replacement will start 1 Aug so we have 2 weeks handover.
In my sector (HE) we’re on 3 months notice, so the recruitment process takes ages for senior posts.

Lavellan · 17/04/2019 18:43

The request to advertise for my cover has gone in. (technician) But things are so tight in council budget right now there's a chance they may just reject it.

IVEgottheDECAF · 17/04/2019 18:43

What date are you due megan? I am finishing work mid July lol

Megan2018 · 17/04/2019 19:06

@IVEgottheDECAF
12 Sept so finishing 4 weeks before. I think she’s likely to be late than early so will have up to 6 weeks at home.

Whisky2014 · 17/04/2019 19:13

I'm considering taking maternity from 2 weeks before my due date so that's me finishing around 12th of August. But i also have about 20 days of annual leave left to take not including the 2 weeks I have off end of May! Might take a weeks annnual leave before the maternity so really would finish first week August then either sell my remain hols or carry them to tag on to end of maternity next year. I only started there in Feb so don't want to have load of time off before maternity and since i will only get the government maternity allowance maybe I should sell my remaining hols :s

Whisky2014 · 17/04/2019 19:15

IVEgottheDECAF when is your due date again?

IVEgottheDECAF · 17/04/2019 19:21

Im due on the 5th. All 4 of our dc have been born between 38 weeks and 39+6. So i dont expect to go over but hope i am not jinxing myself!

TheCraicDealer · 17/04/2019 19:24

I got an email from Boots there saying their baby event is starting on 24 April- one of the offers seems to be 25% off grosnugs/grobags. I think you were considering them Megan2018?

DH was talking to DMIL about our last name conundrum this evening- some will remember DH is already double barrelled. She has suggested going for Dealer D (the initial, as in Dear) Husband. So "Baby Dealer D Husband". I admire her for trying to help and thinking outside the box but I'm already tired just typing that explanation never mind doing it in real life! Very lucky to have her though, she could easily take it thick as it's probably her name that will be replaced with mine.

Hsunshine · 17/04/2019 19:57

@whisky2014 remember you’ll probs pay tax on selling them and usually the money you receive is spread across 12 months. May be better to take an extra 4 weeks off at the end?

Whisky2014 · 17/04/2019 19:59

Yeh maybe actually. That's fine because I can imagine dreading going back after such a long time off. I can pad it out for a bit longer :D

BridgetJonesDaiquiri · 17/04/2019 20:03

Evening ladies - just catching up on all the news and chat! I had the worst stomach bug last week and was bed bound for 4 days - couldn’t eat a thing, stop the runs or keep water down. Recovered now but my god I felt awful!

I’m a bit down in the dumps because when I saw my consultant last week (the morning for before the bug struck!) my blood pressure was quite elevated. Went to the antenatal day assessment on Saturday to do 30 mins of monitoring and it was ok there but due to BP woes in last pregnancy I’m now on weekly midwife BP checks Confused Saw her today and she was lovely, heard heartbeat, BP fine - but can’t helping thinking oh heck I’m only 18 weeks, so got another 20 weeks or so of these weekly appointments! She’ll be sick of the sight of me!

Also we’re in the process of selling our house and potentially moving in the summer when heavily pregnant to house that needs renovating. Suddenly seems like a crazy proposition!

Karigan195 · 17/04/2019 20:07

It could have been high because you were getting ill. I know my fit bit always had a higher heart rate reading when I was coming down with something.

BBell2 · 17/04/2019 20:17

You guys are lucky your employers consider mat leave cover. I told me boss a few weeks back, he was great told me we still need to try for my promotion. Told my new would-be-boss if they actually promoted me yesterday and he advised me not to tell anyone until its sorted. I'm 17wks, its so bleeding obvious I have the worst poker face in the world and this mess has been going on since Jan. My colleagues cover started the day she left, no handover, external contractor and it's been really hard on everyone. I line manage and feel I'll be leaving my team in the shit and causing myself stress in the meantime. Thank God for these long weekends coming up I'm only in a few days till 21wks!

Bunnymummy89 · 17/04/2019 20:23

Good to know about the reduced grobags coming up! Not sure if anyone's already mentioned it but I think Real Nappy week is next week or the one after so should be lots of discounts for anyone considering cloth.

@Bridget you are totally mad for considering renovation while pregnant! Unless you're going to have people in to do it for you while you put your feet up. We renovated whole house over a month last summer ourselves with help of just a few family members while not pregnant and I still don't think I've recovered!!

Is anyone else suddenly really emotional?? Obv having some kinda hormone shift the last couple of days as I've been quite sick again today and literally crying about everything and nothing. Haven't really felt emotional at all so far (except when I heard the heartbeat yesterday and had a little weep of relief!) and am not usually a crier so my OH doesn't know what to do lol. I've sent him out to get me some chocolate Grin
