@greystar30, fundal measurements aren't massively accurate, things like maternal him, water, babies position affect the measurement and it also varies on who measures it. For example none of my 3 have ever plotted as big and yet all 3 were massive. Dd3 weighed 9lb 10.

Likewise scans are often out as well as it is really tricky to measure, I actually think they cause a lot of unnecessary worry - I say this as a mum on only biggies.

I've only had the one measurement because I only get seen at 16, 28 and 34. I was 27+3 and my bump was measuring 30cm (So 2.5wks ahead) MW not concerned at all. So this boy will likely be a whopper too. I have a routine growth scan at 37wks but everyone in my trust does so not related to his size.

Remember as well baby may come earlier. So if dd1 had been born at 40wks she would probably have been 7lb11. Dd3 would still have been nearly 9lb though!

My final point, my easiest was my biggest.

EverythingNow · 11/06/2019 16:12

maternal BMI!!

greystar30 · 11/06/2019 16:14

@Jokie oh really? I'm not sure, this is my first baby, she said if the measurement is the same or bigger at my next appointment in 3 weeks I might need to go for a growth scan. I have a scan in two weeks anyway for a low lying placenta so I guess maybe they can give me a more accurate view then? She was measuring on the small side at my 20 week scan so I was quite shocked today!

greystar30 · 11/06/2019 16:16

@EverythingNow that does make sense, thank you 😊 I don't feel as worried now!

badluckmum · 12/06/2019 04:58

Hi 👋 new here. Baby due 17 August but having to have cesarean because of previous pre-eclampsia complications with my first. I've not been able to sleep tonight.. like not at all. I have heart palpitations, shortness of breath and very very itchy all over. Wondering if it's normal symptoms or if I should call someone?

PhoebeBear · 12/06/2019 09:15

@badluckmum hi welcome 👋🏼
Oooh I'm not sure, I would see how things go and if they continue maybe talk to your midwife about it. I know shortness of breath can start as your pregnancy lengthens and I've also had itchiness but I think that's just from growing bump.. however constant itchiness could be a early sign of pre eclampsia so I would get checked out. Good luck on you and your baby!

Jelliestogether · 12/06/2019 10:43

@greystar30 I wouldn't worry too much about your chart, the main thing it's used for is for a trend. Your scan in 2 weeks will be able to give a better idea of baby's size even though they're not scanning you for growth.

@badluckmum welcome! I would definitely ring your local maternity triage. Might be nothing but best to get checked out!

ABearandABump · 12/06/2019 17:42

Has anyone picked any names for their little ones? We've got ours sorted now I think ☺️.

So excited now that we've got names organised!

Jokie · 13/06/2019 05:21

@badluckmum: welcome! I'd definitely contact your midwife for the shortness of breath. How has your pregnancy been apart from that?

@ABearandABump: Noor. We're still in indecision land. Shortlist is not getting any shorter and I'm worried I'll never be able to come to my preference for a name!

Yesterday was spent in the observation ward to check on movements and everything looked fine. He's measuring completely on the average line for everything so that's a positive.

How has everyone else been?

badluckmum · 13/06/2019 07:44

Thanks everyone. I did call and they didn't seem to be too worried as lil one is still moving around alot. I managed to fall asleep at 6:30 am and slept until 3. Thank goodness I'm on maternity already!

Kathryn19 · 13/06/2019 08:56

We are also unable to decide on a name! Husband tried calling her all the names on our list, hoping she'd respond to his favourite.. but she just kicked him every name he said!
My whooping cough jab is a bit sore but aside from that and the expected increasing tiredness and achiness of the third trimester, all is good.
Not long until August!!

ScotsBaby2 · 13/06/2019 09:13

Hi all

I'm measuring ahead too. Midwife just asked if I had growth scans with my first, which I didn't, but she wasn't too bothered. I'm back there on Monday and I think will probably measure big again. Seems bump growth spurts come with lots of heartburn and it came back at the weekend.

I'm so tired. Can't sleep well and toddler is being a rebel too. Only 10 weeks to go 😫

I'm in complete awe of mums that are pregnant with a little one! You're superwomen!! My daughter is in reception and I'm knackered! Grin
I'm also measuring over but by one week. When I had pre-eclampsia I went from measuring under by a week to measuring over by 6 weeks in a few days. But that was due to blood pressure. So happy this pregnancy has been easier this time.

serenfach1 · 14/06/2019 05:44

Hello! Can I join? I'm 30 weeks this weekend! Another boy Smile He's our first and is due August 25th. Would love to be part of this chat. I've had previous bad luck with pregnancies so I've consciously stayed away. Started NCT this week and just started to bring more baby stuff into the house, so it's getting really real now. All massively helped by the fact that he's a wriggler, which has been much more noticeable in the last couple of weeks and is VERY reassuring. I'm due at the end of the month and mostly fine. There must be lots of you who are a few weeks further along than me. How is everyone else doing?

keebo · 14/06/2019 06:54

@serenfach1 welcome. Glad to hear this pregnancy is going ok, many of us have suffered pregnancy losses in the past so we totally understand the mix of emotions and delaying preparing. I'm now 31 weeks and have had a pretty easy pregnancy this time but have only started prepping things over the last couple of weeks. I'm hoping to get it all done by 37 wks just in case little one appears a bit early. I also have a wriggler! It literally never stops and they're not small movements either. They often make me wince which my class think is very funny!
@jokie thanks for the tip about serenity, I couldn't find it (?) but have ordered a dress I found on eBay which I hope will arrive on time 🤞
@ABearandABump we found 2 boys names we like and 2 girls names we like ages ago and despite doing lots more research we haven't been able to add to that list. I just hope one of the names looks like it suits whatever comes out or we'll just have to call it 'little one' for ages.

Do you all talk to your bumps? What do you say? I stroke mine and sort of cuddle it but I don't tend to talk to it, I don't know what I'd say!

Kathryn19 · 14/06/2019 12:14

Hello @serenfach1 and congratulations Smile I am due just before you on 23rd August! There is even more chat on a fb group you can join as well.
My baby has also been getting super duper active recently! It is nice isn't it (discomfort aside!) How did you find NCT? We've had two classes so far and I'm generally enjoying it.
@keebo I don't talk to mine a lot as I figure that she must hear me all day. I do sometimes say hello and ask her what she's up to when she is being particularly vicious with her kicks or shoving her bum against my belly button. Husband will tell her lots of random things though!!

keebo · 15/06/2019 13:28

Urgh. Having some sort of hormone surge today and feel really tearful and stressed for no particular reason again. 😢 Just a bit overwhelmed I think. How is everyone else this weekend?

ScotsBaby2 · 15/06/2019 20:34

Hi @serenfach1 we don't have NCT up here. What did you do in your first class?

@keebo I feel baby is having a growth spurt just now. Heartburn is the worst it's been, I'm exhausted and belly button has almost popped despite being very much in last week. Another 9 weeks until due date or 11 weeks max. Eugh.

I'm also sorting through newborn stuff just now as I know time will run away from me.

If anyone is wanting to join the Facebook group then send me a PM with your email address. We are going to close the group to new members on 7th July as that is when the earliest baby is 37 weeks in.

PhoebeBear · 16/06/2019 09:38

Last day of work! 2 weeks hols to use then I'm officially on maternity leave July 1st! Everyone keeps telling me now is the time to relax as I know I won't be getting much peace once baby is here anyways but I just can't seem to settle. I'm not one to sit on the sofa all day and unwind- I feel like i have to keep myself busy! Never mind I'm sure I can think of something, babies room has been re arranged about 3 times now 😂
Got one antenatal class to go to next Thursday (this is my first baby) tried to book in for any other classes but there was none until September which is quite disappointing

EverythingNow · 16/06/2019 09:43

Ah nice Phoebebear when are you due?

I'm also finishing on 28th July so only 9 more working days to go! Thank goodness! I'm not due til 4th but all mine have been 2wks over so I'm looking at a long period at home before he arrives. His bedroom needs sorting, though not urgently. Nappies need washing, then there's the usual housework which I don't keep on top of (5 of us plus dogs) so maybe I'll get myself sorted Grin

Jokie · 16/06/2019 15:42

Hi all,

Hope everyone has had a good weekend! I've been so productive getting the lists sorted, bags prepared, birth notifications sorted.

Does anyone have any tips for cleaning car seats? Our Maxi-Cosi has been in the attic for the past 2 years so I want to give it a spruce up.

ABearandABump · 16/06/2019 16:26

@Jokie @keebo I was hoping to stay Team Yellow but do to an issue with babies ovaries we knew it was a girl, thankfully everything is fine!

It's hard to pick a name that they can grow up with too 😬.

@PhoebeBear I'm so jealous! I'm not finishing for another 7 weeks, working right up to the week before baby is due. I have booked some time off, seems forever away!

bubblegumunicorn · 17/06/2019 08:20

@keebo I talk to mine all the time mainly asking her what she's doing when she sticks her feet in my ribs or telling her the silly things her dad is doing! I've also read a few baby books too her no idea if that achieves anything but it is a nice 10 minutes either way 😂 I also play her music and had DH playing his ukulele for her yesterday as she seams to enjoy listening too it 😊 I just kinda think it's similar to talking to a pet where they have no idea or interest in what you are saying! But even though they may not understand or be able to hear properly just yet it helps with the bonding!

Kileah18 · 17/06/2019 20:40

Hey everyone I'm 33 weeks today. This is my last week of work so happy!! I have 4 weeks of holidays to use then maternity leave will kick in!
I was in hospital last week with reduced movements & high blood pressure 😢 I was first put on labeetalol at 19 weeks pregnant 200mg 3x per day then it was reduced to 2x per day, now they have increased the dosage. Every so often there is traces of protein or blood & baby is moving Loads again!!
Had a blood pressure check today & one of the midwives passed a comment about being induced around 37/38 weeks. Has anyone been induced due to blood pressure before?? I have a consultant appointment next week so I'm sure they will talk about this!

ScotsBaby2 · 18/06/2019 14:39

@Kileah18 sounds like you've had lots to worry about recently. Hopefully you get some rest when you finish work. 37 weeks is term so it could just mean you get baby without the last few hellish weeks of pregnancy. I don't have any experience of being induced for BP but I hope your blood pressure does settle down though.
