New thread!

Sorry, don't know if someone else was planning to do this. Just noticed how close we were to being cut off on the last thread.

Awww congrats @AIDE2424!

Jxtina86 · 16/02/2019 22:33

@AIDE2424 congrats!!

BeckyButterfly · 17/02/2019 00:06

@AIDE2424 congratulations!!

@StargazyDrifter I bought a 9ft pregnancy pillow on Amazon and that is helping me. I already have a V pillow which I have used for years to help with my already terrible posture but I found it didn’t stop me from rolling onto my back.

I went out for a meal tonight with a group of friends and only just getting into bed now. I’m not too tired but my sciatica is very cross with me 😂

cocodash · 17/02/2019 08:11

Just came to check in! Didn't realise we had a new thread! Wonder how many threads we will be at come July!!

We have a healthy baby cooking away! 20 week scan was amazing! We were there for nearly an hour as baby wasn't playing ball!! And managed to remain in team yellow!!!!

ForTheLoveOfDoughnuts · 17/02/2019 08:21

The MAT pay differences are massive. I was made redundant at the end of last year. I've got a new job but I don't qualify for any MAT pay. I've got to apply for the maternity allowance which is only £145.18 a week. I'm gutted. We planned this baby. Redundancy was the last thing I was expecting to happen. It's so stressful knowing I'm missing out and the package would have been great at my last job.

Yukka · 17/02/2019 08:30

@stargazydrifter we’re on the same lines for nursery. Ours is already painted a pale grey, ive ordered some pale green hot air ballon stickers for the wall above the cot from not on the high street. I’ll se what they’re like when they arrive. I was thinking about putting a proper fake tree in there, in the corner near the cot. Seen some for £45. White furniture and then different coloured animal pictures. And mirrors. I think!

Congrats @Aide2424! And @cocodash great news on your scan!!

Oh about teachers mat leave- I was thinking that most bank hols prob fall when you are on half term anyway, but it seems very unfair that you don’t remain entitled to anything from normal holidays. I thought there was a law somewhere about 4 weeks.

I’ve found a low alcohol 0.05 white in Tesco. It kind of ok, a bit sweet so better over ice with soda. Generally not fussed for it really.

TwinkleDay · 17/02/2019 09:42

Also yesterday we managed to go out for the day and I climbed all the way up and down Lincoln hill without going faint!

It was slowly but it did it and didn't stop... 21 weeks and strong :)

BirthdayKake · 17/02/2019 09:45

Ooh we used to live near Lincoln! 19 weeks tomorrow and not strong at all lol

Congratulations AIDE!! We're very girl heavy aren't we?!

AIDE2424 · 17/02/2019 11:31

Thankyou everyone we are very pleased!

My DP already has a 7 year old son from a previous relationship so was hoping for a girl!

My mat pay is standard, 90% for 6 weeks then straight down to SMP.
I go on leave 8th June but that’s 6 weeks of annual so my maternity leave doesn’t officially start untill middle of July.

Seems to be a lot of girls expected in the group at the minute but team yellows might pull through with the boys 💙💜

ReginaPhalange89 · 17/02/2019 12:27

Just got a bargain in asda and made a start on the buying !
I've been eyeing these up for ages , they were £15 in the baby event but still hadn't bought any, just been in today and they were reduced to £10! For 3 ! They only had one pack so I'll need more but couldn't leave them for that price

Yukka thanks for the tip about Notonthehighstreet. Some lovely things there, including colourful prints of greenery and leaves. 😊 Your plan sounds lovely.

For all the dinosaur-lovers out there, Notonthehighstreet has some 'origami dinosaur' fairly lights and bigger lights. Look quite cute!

I've lost quite a bit of time to Pinterest today. Must step away from all that statement wallpaper!

FuzzyPixel · 17/02/2019 16:27

Hi all

Loving the nursery talk. I'm currently sat supervising delcluttering of the craft room which will become our bedroom, we are then decorating our old bedroom to be the nursery. Sadly, I'm supervising because I was awake for three hours at ten past three, and sick three times too.

I'm really lucky to have all of the craft equipment to create wall art and stencils at home. It's a little hobby of mine, and my mum does it too. I'm looking forward to getting a bit of creativity back.

My mum is crocheting blankets and DH's mum is knitting cardigans, so I feel like we have a full family effort for the little one.

The sad thing will be saying goodbye to the craft room! My mum lives about fifteen minutes away and has promised I can use hers though. Grin

StargazyDrifter · 17/02/2019 16:39

FuzzyPixel that all sounds very exciting! How lovely that you can make stuff too, your nursery is going to be awesome. 💜 Do keep us posted on your ideas!

Sorry you're out of sorts. I've been feeling a bit sicky and exhausted as well, quite frustrating when I had a full day planned. DH is making a big list of what we need for the baby ahead of next week's John Lewis nursery appt and I'm (still!) flicking through Pinterest and trying to work out if a painted ceiling is really as mad as DH says! 🙈

I had a few lovely things made for me by family as a baby but, sadly, those people aren't around any more so I've been thinking about doing something v basic myself - cross stitch, crochet etc. I'd like to keep that tradition going.

Chinks123 · 17/02/2019 20:22

So the guesses were wrong...it’s a little boy 💙 I’m over the moon and did have a bit of a cry. It was blatantly obvious as soon as the scan started, so it’s definitely a boy Grin I bought a little confetti cannon to do a reveal for dd- she wanted a brother so hopefully she’ll be excited! As a girl mum I have no idea about baby boys, and can’t even think of 1 name I like. But I’m so excited! We got a little 4d peek and he looked so sweet.

Chinks123 · 17/02/2019 20:23

Sorry @SnailorSwift I missed your message. I’m hoping not to have to take a year out, the university does have a nursery but i need to have a chat with my lecturer and sort it out.

I tend to put things off-like telling my mum which I still haven’t done!

TwinkleDay · 17/02/2019 20:56

Today guys I update the spreadsheet and added a new tab and got everything on there And a calculated cost so far. Also made a list of stuff still needed.. not too shabby, also the weather forecast looks great for this week so hoping to get fences painted and pergola next weekend whilst I can :) ... might be pregnant but want to keep going for as Long as possible... steadily x

BeckyButterfly · 17/02/2019 21:17

Me and the hubby have commenced “operation sort the house out” (catchy title, I know 😂) I’ve sorted all the clothes out in my bedroom then need to sort out the crap in the wardrobes in spare room number 1. We aren’t actually going to decorate the nursery because we decorated that room really recently in very neutral colours so will just redecorate with the bean gets a bit older and wants it in a certain way. I bought some under bed storage things from Ikea to go under my bed to try to clear some space in the wardrobes for bean stuff. I just want to get as much done as I can this half term because I know by Easter break I’ll be struggling a lot more with being more pregnant.

blueeyedviking · 17/02/2019 21:27

Wow you guys have been chatty since Friday morning. Lovely to read about your nursery plans.

Congrats on the gender reveals and scans!

Just come back from a weekend away in new Forrest. So nice to get a break. Tried a pre-natal massage, so nice! Especially as my back is starting to feel it now.

're mat leave. I'm due 10th July and was going to finish end of June. But I have a long commute into London and my DH said that he doesn't want me to travel that much (and do long days that late). I often leave at 7am and only get back 12-13 hours later so he does have a point...

Those of you who have tried pregnancy yoga, had you done yoga before? I've never done it but wondering if it would be good for my back and knees to keep my strength.

BeckyButterfly · 17/02/2019 21:40

@blueeyedviking I went to my first pregnancy yoga class on Tuesday and really enjoyed it. I did yoga quite a while back because I’ve always had terrible posture and it has always helped me. I’m hoping to keep going to pregnancy yoga. I was hoping to make friends with some pregnant people there too but no one was very chatty 🙁

blueeyedviking · 17/02/2019 21:59

@beckybutterfly I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it but shame they weren't chatty. Perhaps they were shy? Will you do it again?

I'm also hoping to meet some other mums to be. Same with the NCT course we are going to in a few months.

BeckyButterfly · 17/02/2019 22:35

@blueeyedviking yeah, I’ll definitely keep going. All the other ladies there were a lot further along in their pregnancies than I am and I think they’d all been going a while so chatted to one another but then dashed off at the end. There was supposed to be tea and biscuits after the yoga but no one stayed which was a shame.

BeckyButterfly · 17/02/2019 22:57

Also, this is the website I bought my car seat from: www.online4baby.com
It has some really good stuff for pretty good prices. I got my car seat with its Isofix base for £155. It’s an iSize one and lasts till the baby is 4 years old.

StargazyDrifter · 17/02/2019 23:05

BeckyButterfly aww I'd have definitely been up for tea and biscuits with you! Keep at it, they may yet warm up, or new people will join. I've also been meaning to go to pregnancy yoga but have been too tired and too busy when not tired. I will report back!

Blueeyedviking sounds a very lovely break! I'm also looking to finish early because of a fairly fast-paced job and, while it's mostly a desk job, when it gets busy I do have to be out and about a lot which is tiring even now. I've only ever tried yoga once, on holiday, and I'm very badly coordinated so not holding my breath. But it's meant to me a bit of time out and relaxation, so wanted to give it a go.

BeckyButterfly · 17/02/2019 23:21

Thanks @StargazyDrifter 😊 I’m going to keep going because I enjoyed the yoga even if it isn’t so much of a social event. It’s definitely worth a go, it is just low level yoga and really relaxing which is nice.

blueeyedviking · 18/02/2019 07:05

@stargazydrifter Sounds like our situation is similar then, also seem to remember you do a London commute which can always be interesting! When are you thinking of going off?

I've got my big public launch at work today, dreading it but also been working towards it for a year so can't wait for this week to be over! And catch up on sleep...
