New thread!

Sorry, don't know if someone else was planning to do this. Just noticed how close we were to being cut off on the last thread.

I’ve been absent on here for quite a bit. I’m terribly poor at keeping up.

Thank you for the new thread Smile

I found out I’m expecting a girl at my 16 week scan 3 weeks ago so, this will equal 4 boys and 2 girls for me...the 2 girls are the youngest ones. There seems to be lots of girls on our group doesn’t there? I have my 20 weeks scan next Tuesday so anxious for that.

I hope everyone is ok.

ReginaPhalange89 · 18/02/2019 07:57

Isn't a shame when people don't involve you !
We moved to a new area 3.5 years ago and I still don't have any friends here , it sucks ! I've started taking my toddler to little toddler groups but so far they all seem very cliquey , no one's spoken to me yet. I'm too shy to just go and join a group of people that are already chatting 🙈

BirthdayKake · 18/02/2019 08:06

@Beckanne90 I can barely keep up either! Good to see you back. My scan is also on the 26th and I'm really nervous. My anxiety is getting a bit out of control and the minute and I'm so worried something will be wrong.

Regina same! We moved to a new area just over a year ago and I don't really have many friends. Oh well, I've got the kids 😂

RooKangaroo · 18/02/2019 08:24

@blueeyedviking - good luck for the launch today! Completely get that you must be feeling relief for it all coming to an end, in some way.

Making friends is really hard, and it feels like everyone says it happens so easily when you go to toddler groups/school, etc. But it really doesn't. I've met quite a few nice people who I could do play dates with, but to get someone who you really click with and would call a proper 'friend' is a really hard ask.

I'm.another London commuter - about two hours each way, but luckily I work from home a lot. Last time I worked till 39 weeks (when we were living in the south west) but this time I expect I'll finish in June because of the commuting.

It is difficult to get to know people - we moved when I was 8 months pregnant last time and we did nct in this area (albeit still 45 mins away) - however, I've found I've made more friends through nursery which is lovely. I also made some nice friends through baby sensory - one of my closest friends now in fact. So I've been relatively lucky. However, I did go to a baby and toddler group last time where barely anyone spoke to me - I stuck it out for a few months but I just found it uncomfortable in the end.

thedust · 18/02/2019 08:51

I've got to go to London tomorrow for a work meeting and I'm already dreading it! My PGP flares up after too much walking and standing so I'm dreading getting the tube really and all the walking around. I don't know how you London commuters manage every day! I looked into the 'baby on board' badge but you can only get them in London and South East postcodes. Not that anyone would pay any attention really, my bump isn't huge and they won't know I've got PGP.

StargazyDrifter · 18/02/2019 09:05

blueeyedviking hugely exciting about the big launch today! Well done you, getting something of that scale together, even if it's your job it's still a big deal. I hope it goes really smoothly. You'll sleep very well tonight after all that!

Thinking of going off as early as I can in June because to the commute, heat and wanting to sort of get myself in a good place for the baby (first one). My work doesn't leave much time for outside stuff so, and while we will have bought all the stuff, I won't have had a chance to read many of the books or think about things like what kind of sleep approach we want etc. Seeing the more senior boss this week to discuss. Naturally they are acting all surprised as unprepared, ffs they've known since late October! (Because of the sickness.)

I'm not sure I'd be that good at making friends either in this context. In fact, meeting an aquaintance for lunch today who is a few weeks ahead of me in pregnancy but I'm not sure how that'll go. I don't know anyone else who's pregnant apart from here!

wombatron · 18/02/2019 09:32

I'm sorry to post and not read - it's been so busy in my life recently. But I'm a bit worried and hoping someone can talk me down off this anxiety bus I'm on....
So we previously discussed discharge and smells and stuff, many many many threads ago, but has anyone experienced a change in theirs?. Sorry if TMI but mines become almost jelly like in sometimes, and has a green/yellow tinge to it. Only really noticed as I used a liner and it's stark contrast! When you google you get awful results about miscarriage and I don't have a GP app till Friday 5pm Sad no itching, not smelly - perhaps a little musty and strong - I'm hoping just thrush but I've never experienced thrush like this 😔 just wondering if anyone has has similar experience

AnnaBegins · 18/02/2019 10:12

Wow been catching up with all the news!

For anyone wanting bright clothes, have a look at the independent online shop Babipur, they have loads of super colourful organic and scandi brands.

Alcohol wise, I am really missing wine! Soft drinks are too sweet for me. DH is on a mission to find me a suitable replacement. Alcohol free kopparberg is sweet but ok, alcohol free prosecco just tasted like sweet grape juice, but I'm pinning my hopes on the low alcohol cider still in the fridge! I got the spice seedlip but it tastes overwhelmingly of clove so just reminds me of toothache...

We have just had an offer accepted on a new house which needs so much work, so I doubt we'll get a nursery painted before baby arrives. DS's room is yellow with trees and owls on the walls. Who knows how he'd like his new big boy room to be in the new house!

ForTheLoveOfDoughnuts · 18/02/2019 10:28

@wombatron I haven't really got an advice. Can't the surgery offer you an urgent appointment? Maybe call the midwife? I'd be calling the surgery back and saying it's urgent. I'm sure it's nothing but will put your mind at rest of you could get seen sooner x

BirthdayKake · 18/02/2019 10:37

@wombatron definitely go to the doctors, but the risk of miscarriage is so low at this point, so don't worry about that. Google is a bastard!

Kentishgal · 18/02/2019 10:45

Wombarton I had something that sounds similar earlier on but it seems to have gone away. The two things that occurred to me were bacterial vaginosis or the supplements I was taking - I googled and a lot of people seemed to report something like that when taking pregnacare max, which I'm taking. I'd ring the midwife though as they will have a better idea and should be able to help put your mind at rest before Friday.

wombatron · 18/02/2019 11:26

@Kentishgal that's interesting. I did actually stop taking the supplements as I kept forgetting...but I started again last week and it does seem to have coincided with this, though it has been a bit grim in that department for a while. Maybe i'll try just the normal supplements as opposed to pregnacare as perhaps that's got something to do with it!

@BirthdayKake and @ForTheLoveOfDoughnuts I have rung the midwife and she suggested a GP visit so booked that. Im not in any pain or discomfort- I think 8 weeks between scans is cruel and doesn't help!

Thank you all for your replies. I need to stay off google!

ForTheLoveOfDoughnuts · 18/02/2019 11:49

@wombatron I agree, it's a very long time to wait! I've got my 20 week scan Wednesday. Still not feeling any movement that I can say for sure are baby. I'm more nervous than excited unfortunately.

BeckyButterfly · 18/02/2019 11:51

@wombatron I wish scans and check ups were more frequent. My anxiety is going completely insane at the minute. I pretty much convince myself every night that there is something wrong and it can be for the smallest of reasons. At the minute it’s because I haven’t felt any movement even though I’m not even 18 weeks yet! My scan is 2 weeks tomorrow. It feels like the longest wait ever.

wombatron · 18/02/2019 11:53

I feel the same Forthelove

Thankfully during my harmony test they said I had an anterior placenta, so I may be delayed in feeling movements early on - it just feels a bit unfair to have to wait that long in between with no known movement. Good luck for Wednesday. Mine isn't till 7th March Sad

wombatron · 18/02/2019 11:56

@BeckyButterfly mine is 2 weeks Thursday. Resisting the urge to book a private one. At the moment I'm considering a gender scan just to be able to see it!!! Which is ludicrous because I am firmly team 💛!!

ForTheLoveOfDoughnuts · 18/02/2019 12:17

@wombatron I was considering going to a private scan last week. I got myself so worked up. Luckily someone I was working with at the time used to be a midwife and she said how totally normal it is to not feel anything till 24 weeks and to try not to worry. Easier said than done but it did help.
That's such a long time to wait.

BeckyButterfly · 18/02/2019 12:23

@wombatron and @ForTheLoveOfDoughnuts I won’t go for a private scan because I went for one in my last pregnancy (when I miscarried) and had a really bad experience so don’t want a repeat of that!
I was lucky enough to be given an extra scan at 16 weeks by the hospital to try to ease my anxiety but a few days after each scan I find a new reason to stress.

I keep trying to remind myself that movement could be as late as 24 weeks too but like you say, it is difficult!

StargazyDrifter · 18/02/2019 13:20

BeckyButterfly I was also really anxious to go for the private scan that came with the Panorama test, because the previous one was a MMC on Christmas Eve (2017) ☹️.

I've been for two private scans this pregnancy now and still worry more than with NHS ones.

Totally with you on the anxiety. The later it gets into the pregnancy the more unthinkable all the bad things are. It seems that the 18-24 week stretch is particularly hard, second guessing the movements/gas situation!

ReginaPhalange89 · 18/02/2019 13:20

@wombatron not sure if it's the same as what you have but I've literally had greeny coloured snot / egg white type stuff since day 1! Always some there when I wipe after the toilet !

wombatron · 18/02/2019 13:27

Yes @ReginaPhalange89 !! Perfect description. Really quite grim!!

Kentishgal · 18/02/2019 13:33

I second the anxiety thing and I really don't have a reason as I've not had a miscarriage like a lot of you guys have had to go through. It's just far far worse this pregnancy - I think ignorance was bliss with my first! I feel like a I don't want to properly plan or think about the baby because I'm convinced it's not going to be alright. At my 16 week appointment she took a few minutes to find the heartbeat and I think I was holding my breath - then the midwife said "what's wrong with you, why are you so anxious". I didn't really have an answer other than to protest that I wasn't like this last time!!

RosieposiePuddingandPi · 18/02/2019 13:48

I've managed to miss an entire thread! 🤦 organisation has not been my strong suit so far this pregnancy.

Loving hearing about everyone's scans, we had our 20 week scan on Friday and had confirmation that we're having a girl ☺ I had a little cry in the scan room which is so daft because I would have been happy either way but I really thought it was a girl. DH is very excited.

Has anyone set up a group fb yet? I was on the one I was part of for DS yesterday and suddenly remembered this chat!

BeckyButterfly · 18/02/2019 14:52

@RosieposiePuddingandPi some people were talking about a Facebook group earlier on but from what I gathered, it is a closed group so you have to be added by admin.
