New thread!

Sorry, don't know if someone else was planning to do this. Just noticed how close we were to being cut off on the last thread.

Place marking!

RooKangaroo · 15/02/2019 16:09

@Twistering, that is hugely unhelpful! Do you think they just don't know, or haven't bothered to make the calculations? I wonder if they're putting you off because they don't want to do it for a while.

Place marking :)

Kentishgal · 15/02/2019 16:41

Thank you rookangaroo!

JSCRJ · 15/02/2019 16:44

Thanks @RooKangaroo, place marking with the intention of being far more involved with the chats!

@Twistering, thanks for the dehydration tip. I probably am guilty of not drinking enough, so I'll give it a go.

Kentishgal · 15/02/2019 16:47

Ps I have the ear thing too - didn't realise it was a firm.of tinnitus. It's v annoying!

Kentishgal · 15/02/2019 16:51

If any of you want to go to the baby and toddler show at Sandown Park (12-14 April) - there's an Emma's Diary offer for free tickets using code EM35.

Checking in!

@twistering I've been trying to calculate salary etc too! I think that my employer pays the shortfall in pension whilst I'm on mat leave (hoping I've read the policy properly) and my calculations seem to suggest that averaged over the year I won't be down much on my usual salary each month (£300ish). I just hope I haven't calculated incorrectly as it will be crap if I actually end up getting way less!

Do we get the matb1 at the anomaly scan? Because otherwise my next appointment is at 25 weeks and you have to inform work by then at the latest (obviously my line manager etc know but HR!)

Also can't believe we've gone through so many threads already!

Checking in Smile

HchyScott · 15/02/2019 17:29

So the 20 week scan was absolutely amazing, she showed us literally everything and it was so clear!! Baby is still very much a wriggler but we did manage to find out the gender and it’s a girl 💗💗💗!!
Over the moon, I was positive it was a girl! But more than anything, the sonographer said that the baby looks perfectly well.
Totally different experience from 12 week scan, the sonographer was so lovely and explained and showed us everything, it was so wonderful and emotional and our pictures are a million times better!!
Went for lunch after and did some browsing in mamas and papas which ended in no purchases as I thought it was really expensive although if we had the money I’d have brought the occarro there and then, such a fantastic pram! However we went and ordered the oyster 3 to pick up end of May. The smile has not come off my face all day 😁💖

BirthdayKake · 15/02/2019 17:31

Eeeekk amazing news HchyScott!!

StargazyDrifter · 15/02/2019 17:35

HchyScott how very lovely to hear, congratulations on a girl too! A huge milestone reached!

Mine is also a girl, possibly accounts for the skin stuff?

Had forgotten that DH and I are going to the theatre tonight. I'm exhausted and pushed myself a bit too much today in the expectation of a very early night. I hope I don't doze off once the lights go out!

Jxtina86 · 15/02/2019 17:42

Checking in!

How odd - I was just checking the mat leave policy too. And then had the sudden realisation that DH and I might have miscalculated or looked at an older policy! So tonight's exciting Friday plans are double-checking our original sums!!

BeckyButterfly · 15/02/2019 17:44

Hi all! Thanks for new thread.

Exciting to hear of all those joining the girl camp 😊 I can’t wait for my 20 week scan but mine is on the 5th of March too (I know there’s a couple of us with the same date)

As for nice boys clothes, I actually like boys stuff more thanks girls. I hate the colour pink! M&S have some lush clothes for both genders, I bought some beautiful onesies with dinosaurs on when I found out I was having a girl.

@HchyScott I’ll be ordering the Oyster 3 after my 20 weeks scan too if all goes well.

I broke up for half term today and I couldn’t be more relieved! Really looking forward to having a week off to sort my messy house out and have a chill.

Jxtina86 · 15/02/2019 17:45

@HchyScott ah amazing news, congrats!!

BeckyButterfly · 15/02/2019 17:46

Also, my mat pay is crap! I’ve calculated it (near enough anyway) and it’s going to be a struggle even if I only take the one term off.

HchyScott · 15/02/2019 18:03

Thank you all, feel so so happy 😊
@StargazyDrifter this is exactly what I was thinking! Have you been prescribed anything? I’ve got a solution to put on morning and night begins with z ... zineryt or something like that! I’m praying it’ll make a difference soon!

Trying2bemum · 15/02/2019 18:15

Thanks for the new thread @RooKangaroo. I reckon if you don't mind and your DH wants to know then you should go ahead and find out!

Enjoy the theatre @StargazyDrifter xx

Lovely scan news @HchyScott

Can't remember when my 20 week scan is but I'm due 24 July so I think I'll be amongst the later ones. I love the idea of going to lunch after like some of you guys have. It's a big deal xx

TheScaredyKat · 15/02/2019 18:22

Thanks for new thread @RooKangaroo

Amazing news Regina!! Such a relief, sorry I'm a bit late to the party. Been catching up on all the news just now.

To those worried about mat pay @BeckyButterfly I'm totally in the same boat. I had absolutely no idea it would be so bad!! Mine is statutory only so 6 weeks pay at 90% and then about £400 a month after that. DH loves his job but doesn't earn that much. If we are very careful we'll manage barring any disasters but probably not for a whole year. We need to do some sums and see where we end up.

Lovely news on all the scans happening at the moment!

Happy weekend ladies!!

BeckyButterfly · 15/02/2019 18:30

@TheScaredyKat sounds like we have similar mat pay. I get 2 weeks full, 4 weeks 90%, 8 weeks half pay plus statutory then down to statutory only for another 13 weeks.

@Trying2bemum, I knew someone had the same due date as me 😊

Trying2bemum · 15/02/2019 18:54

@BeckyButterfly high five 😁

TwinkleDay · 15/02/2019 19:00

@HchyScott congratulations on your little girl.

I'm so tired and got relatives over this weekend zzzzzz

TheScaredyKat · 15/02/2019 19:06

@BeckyButterfly yes initially it sounds like yours is a bit more generous but if you only get 28 weeks in total that's actually just roughly the same compressed into a shorter time. At least I get something for 39 weeks just spread a bit thinner which I think I prefer to be honest...I might change my tune when we don't have two pennies to rub together after 2 months!

SnailorSwift · 15/02/2019 19:19

Checking in 🙋🏼‍♀️

Just spotted the mat leave chat. Debating atm when to finish, had originally planned to work till end of June but once my dates got moved forward I decided def not! Need to decide soon though.
